• Hello there everyone! Y'all can call me Mercury or Merc, and I started roleplaying about 10 years ago on a little site called Quotev before it got rid of any and all features that made it worth using for me. I've gotten kinda rusty in the last five-ish years and want to get back into roleplaying with real people. Get back some of that "magic" and self-indulgent joy that'd spurred on this hobby in the first place, so please be patient with me if my writing and grammar isn't where it should be at. Especially since I've never used forums before, and definitely going to be experimenting with the format. Just let me know when I've messed something up, how I can fix it, and I'll do just that! I wanna make sure anybody I'm rping with is having as much fun as I am too! It's supposed to be fun of course.^-^
• I'm going to be honest, group roleplay has always intimidated the hell outta me and always seems to move faster than I'm able to keep up with, so my bread and butter has always been 1x1 set-ups with more casual approaches. Free style tends to be under-stimulating in my experience and advanced feels too overwhelming to maintain, so I like to coast at a comfortable in-between range <:3c I typically gravitate towards fandom roleplays with plots and characters I'm already familiar with and add onto with OCs, but sometimes an entirely original concept for a fantasy/sci-fi/horror rp catches my eye too.
• As for hobbies outside of roleplaying, I greatly enjoy listening to edgy and not-so edgy music, watching movies(my favs of all time, that I can recall atm, are The Princess Bride, Coraline, Van Hellsing, and The Reanimator), watching/reading anime and manga(favs being Fullmetal Alchemist, Tokyo Ghoul, and anything written by Junji Ito), playing video games(usually story driven rpgs but the Resident Evil remakes have me in a chokehold), and a lesser but still persistent fascinations with true crime, herbology, outdated medical practices, cryptids and ghost stories. I'm also undertaking an unenviable task of attempting to get into DC comics after years of just watching all the animated shows, movies, and the handful of live action stuff.
• I could probably keep going on, but I think I've gotten down everything I needed and wanted to mention. So I hope everyone's having a good day/night and I'm both really excited and anxious to get my feet wet again in the roleplay space!
