I'm a bit unclear what spirit is, exactly. Is it supposed to represent the personification of will, or does it involve the afterlife? ?

All cool ideas, I'LL probably put them all in. though, the first and last one would be fire(because it relates to spirit).Or maybe spirit will be both combined. Yeah, I'll probably go with it that way.

I'm glad you like them. Though, i'm still a little confused on what storm, the combination of wind and fire, is. I thought it was lightning, is that correct? If so, lightning is electricity, and electricity is just moving electrons. So what kind of abilities would that entail? To me it seems like a skill tree which would allow for the manipulation of matter, but since the ascendants have that already, how would storm work?

Oh, and I have a few more suggestions for monk skills!

First, how much control would a wind user have over wind? Would they be able to control the exact ration of what makes up the air around a given area? For example, there's always a mixture of gases that make up the atmosphere. Could a monk move the wind around so its all carbon in an area or oxygen? If not possible as an innate ability, how about it as a skill?

Also, what about the ability to project images into another person's mind, and even confuse their senses?

Well that wouldn't really work as well as you'd think. For one thing, air blowing on an object to move it is very different from forcing it to move independently. I could, for instance, pull a stone from a creek bed with telekinesis. But because it's under water you couldn't really reach it with your control of air, not without moving all of the water first, and holding it out of the way while your air surrounds and lifts the stone. It's just a much more wasteful way of manipulating objects. For another, depending on exactly what you were doing, you'd need air moving in all directions at once. It would take way more power with wind than anyone's likely to have. I have, however, put in a similar but distinct technique, with different pros and cons. Levitate.

Oh okay. I see what you mean. Yes, moving things just with air is possible, but its not really practical or efficient. Lol I guess that means crushing things with just air moving towards something from all sides is out of the question too1 > . <

How about, as a skill for wind, the ability to open up mental channels of communication with other, none monks? You said the monks talked amongsts themselves in that fashion, right? Is there any reason it couldn't be done with others?

Also, how about a wind based form of sensing like a monk can feel changes in the air around them for a certain distance?

I'm not sure what it would be called, but what about the ability to see things through the eyes of others? It would be sort like talking but instead your seeing things with their eyes, or experiencing things with their senses, but just that, it's not a form of mind reading.
Actually now that I think about it you don't really need to make it a skill, because the way I see it so long as you'vegot enough control of wind you're already capable of the same thing as telekinesis. Your just moving things with wind instead of mind. Lol sorry for not realizing that earlier
I got myt eye on the monk.
Speaking of which. How about telekinesis as a skill for the wind, if it's not there yet. I haven't checked yet
This looks really cool, and I'm really interested in joining. I love skill trees too. I'd be totally up for helping you make those, if you'd like. I even have some ideas.
Of course these are just suggestions, or ideas I have, so if you don't like any of them that's cool. I'm just putting them out there.
The soldiers have earth, and water, and their skills are going to deal with buffs, right? Well, what if one of their skills, or even a few of their skills, possibly in the middle tree, had to do with the manipulation of their body weight? Imagine a soldier charging through enemies, hardening his body, and increasing his body weight so that his momentum carried them forward like a truck!
Now as for wind and fire, since together they create storms, maybe the middle tree could have to do with electricity like they gain abilities that involve lightning, and can even tweak their own nervous system.
Wow, this got filled up quickly. O.O By any chance, is there still space?
Hey Rethel, I was wondering if I'd ever see you and another Yu-gi-oh roleplay again. Welcome back.
Anyways, I'd be interested in doing a scripted duel style. Though, i am a little worried about the fairness problem it would have.

Okay, I see what you're saying about establishing rules. I think the original premise was that there isn't much of an established tradition regarding how they establish laws for magic given that it is a relatively recent phenomenon. That would be one of the issues that the characters struggle with. However, Fata Morgana could be attempting to create a framework for some laws, though it's difficult given the diversity of the powers. I do like the Seven Laws of Magic in the Dresden files, but I don't know if they've managed anything as sophisticated yet. However, these laws would put them in a decidedly benign camp which I can appreciate. So I will try to integrate some of these into their philosophy. Thanks for your collaboration on this and if you definitely think you're interested in having this RPG take off, let me know what you have in mind for a character.

Yeah also there's some other things I like about the magic like with promises. In that series, if you swear something on your magic then you have to do it, if not, you loose some magic, or at one point, if you do it enough, you could lose your magic altogether.

No I haven't! I guess I hadn't really thought through the mechanics of the magic in this scenario. I was kind of thinking of people who could breathe life into statues, create music that would control the minds of anyone who heard it...etc. But if you have any specific thoughts on what you think would be interesting I'd love to hear them! I definitely want to get more concrete laws regarding the magic laid out.

Well, here's a place you might one to start. It could take a while to look at everything, but I think some of these would work really well in an rp with magic that has rules. http://dresdenfiles.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Search?search=magic&fulltext=Search&ns0=1&ns14=1
