I'd think a professional would be a better place to voice your problems and vent for positive reactions, rather than the status bar of an RP forum. But that's just me.

[@neurovoid] That article looks incredibly biased for one agenda. There are various articles that list differences in neural wiring and anatomy. Not to mention hormones from gender-specific organs

Today was the day, an important day. Not his day, no, he was simply a very important bystander. It was his good friend Darien who took center stage today. Leo had to admit his friend looked absolutely dashing in that tuxedo, a groom no girl would be able to refuse. Daphne, the bride, had taken most of the spotlight, however. How long had it been since he had seen her, anyway? He could not remember. That wasn’t important right now.
What was important was that that everything was falling apart. The earth shook with violence, gouts with flame erupted from the earth and surrounded them all, swallowing the venue with the a gluttonous speed no fire should ever reach. There was panic and screams and destruction. Groomsmen and bridesmaids alike were swallowed by the ravaging chaos made flame. Leo ran to the exit of what could only be described as the wedding venue of hell. The heat scorched his back, burned away his shirt to a crisp, and just before his hand reached the door the flames caught his leg – quite literally, in fact, with a hand seemingly made of pure fire. He fell to the ground and the burning inferno loomed over him, forming a face. It was the face of – Finally his alarm clock decided to relieve him of this nightmare.

Just a dream, of course it was. After all, the grand event was still a few days away. The flight ticket lay next to his phone, which was still beeping in the most annoying fashion. He took the item from his desk, turned off the alarm and checked the time. Time to get ready, he had to get to Vegas today. Leo wondered if Christopher was already flying. He was going there with Grace, wasn’t he? How long had it been since he had seen Grace anyway?

Luckily Leo had a much shorter flight coming to him. The young entrepreneur had a comfortable stay in Austin for the last few days. Luckily he had been able to plan his business trip to his newest acquisition – another medical tech startup - just before his trip to Vegas itself.

A shower, dress-up and breakfast later Leo checked out and drove his rental car to the airport. From there it was just the same standard procedure. Handing in the keys, checking in, having your privates invaded by security and finally topping it off by waiting an hour for that goddamn plane. At least he was flying business class, what else? And he had to admit, these flights actually had fairly decent lunches, and halfway decent champagne.

Breathing Nevada air after a predictably uneventful flight, he got into an uber and was on his way to the resort. From what he had seen on their website, at least that looked to suit his tastes. He turned his phone on (something he had forgotten after he left the plane), intent on checking the site again, but instead he saw a dozen of missed calls. Leo Sighed.

”I had told you I was flying today.” Was the first thing he barked out when Adam, a business associate of his, picked up.
”Yes, Austin time, you idiot. Don’t tell me counting back two hours is too difficult for you.” He said with an irritated sigh. He didn’t have the patience for idiots today.
”Yes, of course I secured the deal. Their patent is ours now. So tell R&D to roll out the prototype. No delays, this time. They’ve had enough time while we dealt with the patents. No, he gets his vacation after we’re done with this. I discussed this with him already. Tell him the next time he tries this, he’s out on the streets. ” The uber driver did look somewhat uncomfortable hearing this conversation.
”No, Adam, we cannot cut him some slack. Every day without the product we’re losing opportunity costs. Millions, Adam. Tell the guy he gets a week extra after he’s done… if it works.” And with that he simply ended the call. There was indeed only one way about this, and it involved an iron fist.

At arrival the Uber driver looked overjoyed to quickly unload his suitcase and get the hell out of there. Leo wondered why. Regardless, he focussed his attention to the Seara resort. Yes, he could see this place definitely had class. He wondered if Darien’s wife-to-be had finally gained even a sliver of that.

Leo was going to do Darien a favour, and keep that opinion to himself.

Noel was somewhat surprised by the lack of the reaction to this display of sheer inhumanity. Then again, perhaps these infinites had been subjected to the despair for too long they had already forgotten what humanity looked like. ”You’re just as crazy as that dead bitch.” She murmured audibly enough towards Alice for everyone to hear. It was very much like the recon to jump on whatever the bear threw at her as a lifeline, even if it was full of inaccuracies. Then again, if she wasn’t going to follow up on her earlier threats, then her word was pretty much null and void.
She shot Ice a murderous glance, one befitting a white knight trying to protect his crazy girlfriend, what else did she expect from a common street thug anyway? Afterwards, she snappily gave Braden a look of gratitude. Sometimes you got support from an angle you least expected.

They forgot one thing though. She was the writer of this game’s history. And Mercy had now already been relegated to the status of a demon. A lunatic. She would slander Alice’s friend’s name with an unholy vengeance. Mercy deserved it, anyway. And even if it was going to be her own death, she was going to make sure her story was going to reach the outside world. Even if it was after the entire killing game was over.

With that, she left for the rollercoaster, fuming. Even though she caught that there were new infinites arriving, she wasn’t in a state where she could greet them properly. She simply retreated to her room for the night.

Man, this was a clusterfuck. After the trial everything simply devolved into chaos. He tried to give Davis the least of his attention. The only conquest he wanted to savour was beating his skull in. He looked worriedly at Krista. He wasn't sure whether to be happy or sad for the girl. She had heard her brother was safe, but she did not look fine at all. He hadn't the time to devote to her at that point, as he was adressed otherwise. However, he hissed angrily at the robot. “We might share our namesake, but if you as much as touch me, I’ll be sure to turn you into scrap metal.” A crack appeared in his glasses. ”Got that, you wretched, miserable heap of rust. Perhaps you can threaten me once you don’t need Davis to tell you to wipe your own ass before you do it. ”

He dropped his glasses on the floor, immediately changing them out for new ones. “…Thank you for cleaning my room, however, I do appreciate it. Excuse me.” Honestly, the robot hadn’t done anything wrong. He just had contained that flicker of anger far too long, and the robot said just the wrong thing to get the brunt of it. At least he was calm now. At least this nurse was good at anger therapy.

After having left the trial grounds, he was much like Daimyon intrigued by the sounds he heard. Familiar sounds, the sounds of new allies… or enemies? It was hard to tell these days. No, he had to stay optimistic! And surely, as they crossed the corner they stood face to face with two new faces. “Good evening. Pleased to make your acquaintance. I am Cyrus Brandon, the infinite politician.” He looked at them expectantly, friendly, awaiting their own introductions.

Cyrus had been right, Bliss's alibi had indeed shed a lot more light on the case. His defense had been a desperate shotgun of statements, but one point definitely made it through. The power of agreement came through! Hearing Bliss’s alibi, there seemed to be only one logical conclusion. “So, as Krista and Denis pointed out, it seems indeed very unlikely that Bliss is the killer.” He grinned. “This means that her words now hold truth, which brings to light a very troubling thing indeed.”

Cyrus started to explain calmly. “We have concluded that only the umbrella was used as the murder weapon. A combination of the two is not possible, the wounds are not enough alike. ” Cyrus triumphantly referred back to his other earlier question, as if he had planned it all. This had been more luck than anything, but it was a valuable confirmation nonetheless. ”And Bliss has stated that it was Mercy that gave her this umbrella, we have very little reason to doubt her since we just deduced her unlikeliness to be the killer, henceforth I believe this.” He then put his hand to his chin, pondering. ”And she said this happened several days ago, and she even suggested to dance with it. So she likely knew of the party. How she learned of the surprise party before it happened in the first place is a mystery, maybe Felix told her? Regardless, it also explains how Mercy could’ve planned a murder during a surprise event. Furthermore, she could’ve had a similar umbrella in her room, giving her ample time during her ‘meeting’ to fabricate a wound on her hand and bandage it.”
Cyrus was far from done with his explanation, now it was time for the true evidence. ”But it’s the timeframe that is truly concerning. I should not have to point out to anyone what the symptoms are of the horseman virus.” He smirked. ”In a span of several days, the infected should be reduced to a zombie-like state. Even if Thomas said Mercy seemed to shamble slightly, I don’t she looked anything close to an actual zombie. Therefore we must conclude that she did this out of her own free will.”

The case finally began to unravel. ”The book, the poison, having Felix crash against the umbrella, those could all be attributed to the suggestive abilities of the horseman virus. However, this can simply not be true for an event that took place so long ago. I therefore conclude that Mercy prepared the murder of Felix out of her own free will. And she most definitely was the one that threw him against the table.” His face writhed with disgust, as he glanced towards Felix, then to Max. How would the man react learning he would be unable to enact vengeance on his brother’s killer?

But had Mercy truly killed herself? He couldn’t say exactly how, but she had. ”The announcement sounded for both Felix and Mercy, they had the same killer. If we conclude that Mercy killed Felix, Mercy undoubtedly killed herself. This is simple fact.” Was there any other possibility? There was definitely still room for questioning, as not all questions had been answered. But right now the evidence seemed to line up into one unanimous direction.

”The blackened is, without a doubt, Mercy Evergreen, the infinite plague doctor!”

”Hold up, hold up!” The plague doctor had done herself in? It made sense, but there were still so many things unclear! ”But when would she have poisoned the umbrella, she only acquired it today! And how did… when did she poison herself?” If she did it to herself on purpose, she could’ve easily ingested it. But she was in company around both 4PM and 7PM, right? Someone must’ve seen her do something. Also, who was infected, then?

She then vehemently turned her attention to one person in particular. ”And you, how dare you mock a person who just lost their brother. Are you out of your mind!?” Her voice carried a venom that was most unfamiliar to the other infinites. Regardless, the recon’s behavior to Max had been simply unacceptable. ”So tell me, going to panic again? I hope you won’t mind me laughing at you this time.” Was this starting a fight? Yes, perhaps.

She continued to glare at Alice. ”Now, maybe be a useful little girl and tell us why your lunatic friend might actually do this. Tell me, why would she kill not just herself, but also her dear friend and Max’s little brother? Start talking, or I’ll be the one kicking your ass so hard you’ll be happy you’re stuck in a hospital.” She hissed.

Could it really have been Bliss? The umbrella was pretty damning, but the badge had been pretty damning before with the mundinol on it. Wait, something didn’t make sense there. “I know this looks bad, but I must point out that Bliss did have an alibi until 4:30, Bliss couldn’t have stabbed her before that. Are you implying the mundinol took effect at least a full half-hour earlier than it was supposed to?” He shook his head. “Is that even possible? Does the book say anything about that? This disease seems to damage the lungs and Mercy had asthma, so it might be possible? I’m not exactly a medical expert.”

Thinking of the badge, another question popped up. “How similar are the badge and the umbrella, could they cause the same kind of wound? If they could, and I imagine they might seeing how we considered the badge the murder weapon... is it possible the badge was used for Mercy and the umbrella for Felix?”

His next argument might be more convincing. “Furthermore, we must consider that it was Mercy that asked for the books, and asked Jezebel to get it from the pharmacy in the early morning. If she truly was infected and coerced into getting those. The person must’ve infected her in the morning. Therefore, I’d suggest we hear Bliss’s alibi first, it’s only fair. Mercy must’ve been infected, after all, unless you suggest she just happened to push Felix into a poisoned umbrella, I’m not buying that.”

Then he remembered a final argument“Also, I do recall that Noel mentioned Thomas made an inventory of the pharmacy. I'm assuming he did this after Jezebel broke in. Was there any litonix left in there when you did your inventory, Thomas?”

Things indeed looked bad, but it wasn’t over yet. Bliss was dear to the politician, and he decided to place his faith in her innocence. Now all he could hope was that he wasn’t betrayed.

And that is how in an instant the entire trial was turned on its head. A gasp of surprise escaped Cyrus as the free runner collapsed, but just like with Mercy there was little doubt that they were already too late. “God fucking damn it!” Cyrus exclaimed, barely containing himself. Dang it, he had to think. There had to be something off.

And then it hit him when he heard Bliss speak. “Wait a second… Thomas and I had an argument with Max. That was around 1:30, and we all went to our rooms afterwards. Did that last until 3PM?” Cyrus wondered aloud. “I can barely imagine it so. And does that mean Max went to his room, then back to the party setup, just to leave again to look for Mercy?” Cyrus felt that something didn’t add up there. “At what time did you guys start setting up the party anyway?”

Cyrus agreed with Lucy as well, however. “Maybe not, but the badge had to be procured and poisoned somehow. And it was definitely bloodied. Looking at other avenues for the murder weapon is fine, but we shouldn’t disregard its value as a clue. For both Mercy’s and Felix’s sake… shit” He pointed out in a not exactly calm manner.

Noel was shocked, but she recovered significantly faster than most others. At the very least, she managed to suppress her excitement to put up a façade of shock. There was only one word truly going through her head: S C O O P.
But luckily the reporter managed to retain her composure, instead of turning into a drooling, mad paparazzi photographer just about to snap the perfect shot of that greasy celeb cheating on his wife.

If only she didn’t have that excited twinkle in her eyes. Aw well, maybe they wouldn’t notice.

She did feel truly sorry for Felix. And that’s why she now wanted to catch this murderer more than ever. ”Mercy and Felix had punch together, but I don’t think the poison was in that. Mercy died too early for that, and it doesn’t explain the puncture wound.” she considered again. ”Yes, they definitely had to be murdered at different moments, perhaps with different poisons as well. If Felix was preparing for the party around 4:30, then it must’ve been litonix during the party…” And then it hit her.

”The dance! ” Noel exclaimed. ”Mercy bumped Felix into one of the tables pretty hard during their dancing… And she had the badge on her as well!” But the thought of that made Noel’s face whiten. ”But that’d mean that… Mercy murdered Felix?” It would explain a lot. Why else would Mercy have asked Felix for the books, and Jezebel for the poison? ”But why… how?”

”4:30? Well that’s a bummer, that’s totally when my interview with Dennis ended!” The reporter exclaimed. ”I went to my room after that. So I don’t exactly have a leg to stand on here…” She scratched her head, a silly grin across her face ”Well, at least I was with Dennis for the rest of the day, so I couldn’t exactly have prepped the poison and stuff, right?” She wondered out loud, hoping that was a convincing enough story. After all, there was no time to waste. Chasing her trial would ultimately do just that, she knew.

It was worrisome that there were so many possibilities beyond 4:30. Bliss, Calvin, Max, Denis (she assumed, as she had left him in his room) and herself. And maybe half of the people had spoken up! The meeting was indubitably important, but right now they had no way to determine who exactly it could’ve been simply by naming their alibis. ”I don’t reckon someone actually overheard Mercy planning a meeting around that time? If she did examinations today, no way it was something medical.” Unless, of course, someone had a medical secret… perhaps they ought to come forward and do her a favor of a big, fat scoop!

Cyrus’s alibi was rock solid, as he had been with Emily in the break room as she had already stated. But there was something else bugging him. Something was out of place that they had overlooked. And it had become more important than ever in light of recent evidence.

“So, Max, you were preparing for the party after you left Mercy, correct? So if you left there at 4:30, you must’ve noticed your badge went missing approximately… between 3:30 and 4:30 PM ?” They didn’t know exactly when Max left Mercy, but this gave them a pretty wide time margin regardless. “If you aren’t sure you lost your badge there, it might be smart to go over the possible places you could’ve lost it.” Cyrus proposed. “Ice and Alice were already there when you left Mercy. They, or anyone after them, must’ve noticed if Mercy found your badge. Because from our accounts, Mercy wasn’t alone until Calvin left her.”

For certainty, he looked at the people who visited Mercy after Max: Alice, Ice, Caora, Jezebel, Zach, Braden and Calvin. “Just to ascertain: Did any of you see her find this badge?” It would’ve been quite an important find, and doubted it wouldn’t have been brought up by now.

He then turned to Max. “That badge is a valuable clue, thus we must try to deduce its involvement as closely as we can. I’d like you to tell me the things you did today before you went to Mercy. Where have you been and who did you see? That badge is a potential murder weapon, Max, we must know all possibilities here.” Cyrus sighed. Cyrus considered the police officer a good man, and hoped he could take this chance to clear his name from the suspicion the item incurred.

Noel felt some hostility coming from Thomas, and felt that needed to be set straight first. ”Oh, you misunderstand me Tommie!” She said with a chuckle. ”I simply meant you were in the pharmacy for a while doing inventory, you might’ve seen something get taken that was of interest. I don’t suspect you any more than anyone else who visited the pharmacy on my watch.” She eyed around the room knowingly. ”I’d suggest everyone who went there to tell us exactly what they took, and why. Tell us every detail, now!” The smile on the reporter’s face was gleeful, obviously she was as much interested in people’s medical information as she was actually finding their killer.

Noel then turned towards Cyrus. ”I was interviewing Denis when people were asking me for the Pharmacy, so I admitted people there until 2 pm at the latest. Did you give anyone access to the Pharmacy, Cyrus?”

Cyrus wasn’t sure why the biomechanic referred to him when talking about the book and the study. He hadn’t been there all day. Neither did he know much about Lucy. The biomechanic was referring to Lucy, right? “Wait, why would I know about that?” He questioned Thomas. He’d rather have that out of the way, before incurring any further implications.

Cyrus then looked at the caretaker in shock. “That’s correct! She went to see someone!” He had almost forgotten about that. There was no saying if that was actually connected to the murder, but no lead was to go uninvestigated. “So, who had an appointment with Mercy around 4:30 pm?” He scanned the room, awaiting an explanation.

Cyrus then responded to the reporter’s query. “I have admitted nobody to the pharmacy. So they must’ve gone through you.” He answered plainly.

The reporter grinned. ”In that case, I can at least inform everyone that Mercy did not access the pharmacy. She did set up there to examine patients, but she explicitly insisted she didn’t need anything.” She smiled saying that. It obviously meant that, regardless of whether Mercy was infected or not, she couldn’t have obtained the materials to create the poison.

Cyrus grew very cynical of Faith and Max’s analysis. Too much of it didn’t add up. Naturally, there was still the possibility that someone was lying. Max could’ve easily done it himself in the time before Ice and Alice arrived. No puncturing would be necessary, all it would’ve taken was to give her a drunk with Mundinol. The bandaging was suspicious, but it wasn’t that proven it was connected to the case just yet.

“Well if we just go by the presence of the bandaging or not, that’s not enough to prove it didn’t happen in this time period from 3 to 4.” Cyrus said. “I saw Mercy at 4:30, but I didn’t notice any bandages. I might’ve simply overlooked them.” He wondered aloud. “Did you notice anything, Emily?” He asked, as she was with him when he encountered the plague doctor.

He also frowned at the statements regarding the horseman virus mask. “No doubt the mask is important. But aren’t you jumping to conclusions that Mercy was truly infected? Honestly, if anyone remembered being infected, including Mercy, they could’ve told us at any point, couldn’t they?” He scratched his head. “Surely an event as a mask being forced upon you and being exposed to a dangerous virus isn’t something you’d keep silence on purpose. Until proven, anyone could carry the virus and keep silent for some reason. Not to mention, the progression of the virus takes days, so it could’ve been applied yesterday, or two days ago. We have no solid timeframe lead for this. ”

That said, he was still very interested in the answer to the question they asked Monokuma.

Cyrus was still most wondrous about how Mercy was poisoned. And as such, he came up with a plan. “If mercy was truly stabbed with Mundinol, I might propose the following. I’d like to have the bandages looked at for mundinol blood traces. If mundinol was truly applied to Mercy via that puncture wound, there is a chance some mundinol would’ve left a trace on the bandage.” He then turned to Monokuma. “Can we have the bandages… with the lights off?”

He wasn't sure if they were on the right trial here, but there had to be a clue somewhere.

Noel was pursuing another line of thought. Perhaps there was something to what Lucy had said. If they couldn’t pinpoint the time of murder well, perhaps they should chase other lines of thought first. What did the killer need? Well that was quite obvious…

”Well, besides access to mercy, the killer needed to prepare the poison. So they needed to do the following things…” Noel started to sum up. ”They needed the intel, which they got from the book. It seems most likely that this book was obtained from the study?” Noel estimated.

”Secondly, the killer would need the materials to make the poison. I imagine most of these could be obtained in the chemistry lab?” Noel’s mouth curved in doubt. ”But I suspect the chemistry lab wouldn’t contain the means to create something this lethal. Perhaps the killer used chemicals from the pharmacy instead? I was there with Dennis this morning, and I remember a lot of people took different things. Weren’t you taking inventory, Thomas?” She asked the young biomechanic. Maybe he knew of anything in the pharmacy that could’ve been taken.

Then lastly, there was the obvious. ”Finally, the killer had to mix the chemicals in the chemistry lab. They used the mixing station next to the book, of course.” She stated. She doubted anyone would disagree with her on this last part.

”So I guess ultimately the question boils down to these three locations. Did anyone see anything involved with the case in these three locations?” Noel in particularly looked at Thomas, thinking his actions in the Pharmacy as the most promising lead they might have.

Cyrus found himself agreeing with Faith. “I think finding the book out of place along with the symptoms is too much of a coincidence for it to not be Litonix or Mundinol.” Cyrus mused. Of course, it could be a red herring, but that was too early to conclude. It was more likely the killer had simply left the book in a hurry. “The majority of us should be dead if it was in the food. So it definitely was not there.”

Cyrus repeated the day in his head. “Mercy finally died around 8 o’clock. If it was Litonix, it had to have been applied right at the end of the concert or the beginning of the party. I can’t recall anything out of place happening there. So I think the long acting poison is more likely indeed.” He looked around a bit before he continued. “This means the poison must’ve been applied sometime between 3:00 and 4:00 PM.”

Noel nodded gleefully. The reasoning for it being Mundinol wasn’t sound, but it was the most logical assumption to make. ”3:00 and 4:00 PM you say? In that case, Denis and I can cover for each other. We were in his room at the time.” She grinned.

She then smiled at the idea she had. ”So did anyone see Mercy during that time? Perhaps we can deduce something based on that?” Then she looked at Denis. ”Or we can just reduce the amount of suspects by covering for each other, I guess that works too if we’re sure it’s Mundinol.”
