If we're going back that far, you're cutting out the entire attacking portion of my post, and by extension almost all of your last two posts (due to your new movement nevating the back half of your previous post and precipitating a different response on my part). Generally, it's good etiquette in a fight to not cut back any farther than one post at most, and half a post preferably, but if you want to play hardball with the post cutting, we can do things that way too. Up to you I guess. Things just tend to read better if half the fight isn't nullified by post cuts.

Also, post cutting can't extend any further than your previous post, you get one post to react to changing circumstances, after that the actions are locked in. It's how the whole 'game of chess' thing works, if you set in motion events further back that lead to a killing blow there isn't much an opponent can do about it if they overlook the danger early on, when the move is in its infancy.

We're going for peak comic book human stats here, so his physicals will need to be nerfed to fit the bill, especially since he's enhanced in every area. All of the other characters have to sacrifice something to get another thing, like how Khan's guy is the biggest and strongest but also the slowest, or how Vordak's guy is fast and strong but doesn't have the mass he needs to utilize his full strength most effectively, or how my guy has speed and power, but less strength than Khan's or Vordak's guys. In conclusion, I'd say nerf his physicals by half, and remove the magical abilities (including mist form), for the duration of the fight (after all, we're here to focus on melee, not powers). That should put him slightly below the strength or speed based characters within their area of specialization, but slightly above them outside of it. Basically a jack of all trades, master of none type fighter.

Vanarus' stats are nerfed by the fact that he's a vampire, though if no-one is using any magic then I suppose no-one will be able to capitalize on any of his weaknesses.

We're fighting in a well lit arena, so all his physical stats are halved regardless. I also assumed his stats would probably be offset by no armour. All in all, I think all the changes you asked for have technically already been made, Vanarus won't be using any magic (even if he could, which he can't in a well-lit arena.)

As for the penalty for his well rounded stats, he doesn't have the capacity to take hits as well as many characters because his strength is simply supernatural, therefore I'm sacrificing defense for strength and speed.

Alright, he seems about on par, but have a look and see for yourselves.

Specifically my sword fighting, I've never really had any opportunity to do it in real life.

I'll enter with Vanarus, going to quickly tweak him and make sure he's on par with the fighters still playing.

You can usually cut your own post provided you have enough cause. For example, if you're posting your character taking aim and shooting a character in the head and their head is immediately behind cover, you can't realistically expect the character to aim up and shoot thin air.

Basically, you can interrupt your post if your opponent does something which significantly interrupts your post, or if you leave an 'if' statement like Khan likes to do to specify when his character would do something different.

Personally, this problem is pretty much the main issue with post-by-post arena RPing in my opinion.

I also just realised what thread this is in, and that I'm still subscribed despite not being in it, nevermind, still posting.

Tablurath reclined in his chair enjoying his cup of tea as the transport smartly maneuvered through great arches of webbing as it headed toward the momentary field base of operations for the ground forces of Angar-Rylla who had thus far landed, which was mostly just made up of a number of landed drop ships. Just as he had ordered they had prepared well, fortifying a rather large earthen platform suspended a great deal higher than any of its neighboring rock formations. The comm system built into the holograph before him beeped a warning before a hard almost mechanical like voice was heard. "This is Beta team leader, Lord Cardinal do you read?" "Ah, Ivan Torrant, I trust everything is ready?" "Of course Lord, all teams are enroute to engage the target." "Excellent, just remember Captain, this is a level four Cryomancer, with power over the wind. He may have knowingly used up quite a bit of moisture in that tower of his but don't underestimate him." The voice on the other end chuckled. "Of course Cardinal, we've dealt with their kind before and we're now properly prepared." "Good, good, be sure to capture him alive or at least intact if you can, the data from his body is invaluable. Now has Alpha Team located the site of the anomaly?""Not yet, seems there is a large energy source located deep within the pits that's causing a disturbance with radar devices." "Hmm, unfortunate, I'll have to locate Fury then in the meantime; he's more attuned to those sort of things." OS2K Drop ship Tablurath had boarded moments after Khold had made his quick exit pivoted and veered back over a column of rock formations that were circled by a dozen patches of trees. Meanwhile four drop ships of similar make were veering in on Khold's position. Tablurath could have easily continued fighting the man himself, but really there was hardly any need with a small fleet and thousands of men at his disposal. If anything it would be another test of what this Khold was capable of. So far Tablurath was rather unimpressed. Once the drop ships came into position hovering an easy 100 feet above the gulf Khold now stood within they formed a wide rectangle formation with his current position at the center. The men who had landed earlier had already taken up positions on giant overlooking spider strands.

Haha, you dun goofed.
Fury’s energy blast served its purpose, allowing him to spin around fully and dart forward while his opponent was blown back by the attack. He would have worried about the lava, but most of it had been thrown behind his opponent and his energy shielding could suffice for what remained on the ground, singing the petrified earth. His mind became strangely numb, filled with the flame of war which always seized him in times of extreme danger.

The distance was miniscule to Fury, who could run at extreme speeds especially when helped along with a burst of energy. In less than a second he was upon his foe, even as the strange hybrid readied his weapon, he wouldn’t have the chance to use the sword on the Fireen, Fury had seen it before. Driving down low on the opposite side to the readying blade, Fury was moving to collide with an outstretched wing, reaching for it with the closest hand and an iron grip.

With his momentum, it was possible that when Fury made contact with his powerful charge Drag could simply be thrown off his feet and flung forward ahead of the Fireen who’d seized him. If he was stronger than he looked and resisted being thrown by Fury’s collision with his wing then Fury’s next step would be all the easier.
Well, this is the character I'm happy to fight with.

Right, so your character was what? Spitting the lava while talking?

If you don't write that your character is doing something while doing something else, then he is not, it's sequential.

And LeeRoy, stay out of this argument, because you're obviously not reading things correctly and making weird points that make no sense by pulling out what-if statements that don't even apply to the conversation.

It's clearly stated Fury intends to blast him off the rock with energy, what you quoted was Fury's reaction to being rushed instead, where he would engage in melee. He wasn't rushed, instead he was engaged in probably the easiest way for him to strike.

Strange though how the exact same energy blast in the last thread sent your character flying around in circles when it was hardly even aimed at him, now I'm directing a full body blast it's apparently being negated by a thin stream of lava? How is that preventing the energy throwing you off your feet exactly?

I'm just gonna say one thing.Fury got up in like, less than a second to deflect an attack that was fired at him while he was laying down. How fast can he stand up from a static laying down and exposed position unaided by his energy? Cause if he got up aided by his energy, that's another charge voided. As Khan pointed out earlier with: Also, it takes like, 1-3 seconds to say a full sentence. And he was called weak at the very end. Immediately followed by a spray of hot lava. So yeah, how fast can he get up? Because it would take very little time for it to actually hit you while you're laying down on the ground.

Not really, to Fury swinging a sword and using basic energy blasts are comparable, you're using a low tier example on an intermediate tier character.

Besides which, he didn't need to use energy. He just stood up and turned at the waist (not even turning fully) to blast him with energy. Easy business when an enemy makes some gurgling noise announcing his attack, especially for someone with twice the human reflex who's also a trained warrior. Watch some videos of people standing up some time.

Also, I have the advantage of having all of this planned out in advance, it's not like I'm suddenly pulling Fury's attack out of thin air, he always intended to blast the fucker off the rock. Personally, Drag is lucky I'm not calling ballshit at him randomly dropping down from no-where just 12 feet or something from my character.

And finally, not that it really matters, but Drag's character is launching a projectile (and not one I'd call particularly aerodynamic) so if Fury really needed extra time to meet the attack (which he didn't, in my opinion.) then he certainly got it with the time it took lava to leave Drag's character and cross the distance to hit Fury.

I suppose, even on top of that, because Fury 'jumped' to his feet, he would have had to have moved forward (I'm sure you're aware of that style of regaining one's feet.) Therefore, that lava wouldn't even hit him anyway, he's moved.
