So has anyone else ever spent several hours on an RP, reviewed it, posted it, and then thought “This is garbage.”?

Once my drawing and sketching abilities improve a little more, I intend to start incorporating my own art into future RP’s of mine.

MY INITIAL INSPIRATION

__________________________________________________________________________

So, I have been inspired to create an RP centered around passion, lust, rejection, and jealousy.
A story of a man of the cloth who falls in blinding love with a common woman of the arts. Her rejection of his feelings leads him down a dark path of his own forgery, a path of vindictive jealousy and obsession. This man of God soon becomes a monster, hell-bent on having a woman who will never return his affections, and uses his powers of church to torment her, lacing them both within a spiraling wind of misfortune.

Of course, I will need a partner for this. (OBVIOUSLY.)
I seek a female partner specifically, eighteen or over.
Someone of at least mid-casual writing, but not beyond low-advanced. So mid-casual to low-advanced.

Below, you can see a brief description of the female character I envision. A basic outline. You can also read about me, a short dispatch though it may be. So, I await eagerly, if interested just PM me and we can get started.

This will be a very theatrical RP, and will contain elements such as love, jealousy, hatred, obsession, to name a few.
It will be your typical love-tragedy story, so don’t expect a happily ever after here.

ABOUT ME

You cannot undo the past.

Twelve years ago, Cassie Gage took her own life after becoming the victim of a cruel high school prank. Over a decade later, those responsible for her death have since moved on with their lives. The town of Timber Valley, Massachusetts has moved on. But someone, one sole person, has not.
And now vengeance comes in the form of the scorned as, one by one, those responsible are brutally murdered. As the clock ticks, the fates of the few are sealed by one badly considered action over a decade ago.

___________________________________________________________________________

So, as you can see, this is a Slasher-Survival RP based around a story of vengeance. Our setting is the small fictional town of Timber Valley Massachusetts. Twelve years prior, a sixteen year-old girl named Cassie Gage committed suicide at Timber Valley High School when she was humiliated in front of the entire school. The five teens responsible escaped criminal charges, though as you can imagine have always had a bad reputation since.

Four of them have more or less stayed in Timber Valley, “never leaving small town America” as the saying goes. The fifth (my partner’s character), did however. I will of course leave it up to them on why. School? A big career bounce? Marrying someone out of town? It’s your choice.

The five have more or less remained as friends and stayed in contact over the years, so when one of them is brutally killed, my partners’ character as you can imagine returns home for the funeral. (And maybe answers.?) It soon becomes clear that the first death was just one in a string of violent deaths for recompense.

This so far is all of the story that I have “concreted”. The rest will be discussed and written together by my partner and I together. I will say this; while I am aiming for originality, I do have several “horror cliches” that I intend to incorporate into the RP. Such as threatening phone calls, cryptic messages, and a masked killer. (Who doesn’t love these particular cliches’??)

So then, I await eagerly for a response. Please PM me if interested and we can get right to work on discussing and planning things out. :D

ABOUT ME
If your up for it, @MissCapnCrunch, we can introduce our first Walker very shortly. We won’t be swarmed of course. Right now anyway.
John followed Florence into the store. He had smirked wryly at her mention of missing music, “Yeah I know what you mean,” he said hoarsely,”I do miss the sound of Toby Keith and Dolly Parton.” He lay his rifle on the counter and followed Florence in the pursuit of useful goods or items. John had always taught her that food and drink items were the first essentials to look for. After that were things like ammunition, better weapons, basic tools, and salvageable clothes. While “useful” could amount to near anything, John more or less had taught Florence the idea of things to be taken on site.

His eyes skirted across the empty counter and bare food racks, and disappointedly across the many empty shelves. The entire building was in bad condition. The wall was crumbled and cracked, the light fixtures and electrical wiring were hanging raggedly from the ceiling which was split by deep cracks. “Hey Flo,” he said loudly as he eyed the decaying walls and ceiling,”be careful. This whole building looks mighty’ unstable. The cieling or walls could come down easily.”

As his eyes scanned the store, it was then that he saw the numerous cans pushed towards the back of a single metal shelf near the back of the store. John briskly approached the rusty shelf and squatted down slowly, pushing his hat back on his head. He saw three cans sitting snuggly together against the back of the very bottom shelf, easy to miss by someone in a rush. John reached in and pulled them all forward toward him, his large hand and fingers cupped against them.
Two sealed cans of pork and beans and a large can of bacon. If nothing else, John knew that the canned bacon would at least be fine to eat, as it would be cured with salt.

I have missed bacon. John thought with child-like glee as he stood and slipped the three cans into his bag. He browsed several shelves over and found a sealed package of dried orange slices, which he collected, and after that a lone can of string beans.
“Found anything, Flo?” John asked as he rounded a set of shelves.
On top of what Foster said, I would add that most RPs don't move anywhere near as fast as you seem to think they do. My experience is that even if you can find a few that get a decent pace for a while, they always dwindle down to at least a few days between posts, if not weeks, and even months.

It is also hardly an experience unique to yourself to get few to no responses, especially in such a short time frame. If you look around the int check sections of the site, you'll find some that haven't received a single response, and these are for group RPs that are expected to have more than one other person involved.

I can understand your frustration at having little to show for months of RPing, but if my experience has taught me anything (I have done plenty of RPing elsewhere, fyi), it's that its hardly uncommon. Yes, maybe you can find people that seem to have what they want, but there's also many that don't, and that's just the facts of life.

“Yes, maybe you can find people that seem to have what they want, but there's also many that don't, and that's just the facts of life.“

I’m not stupid.
Well, I'm noticing a trend here, but there's people several timezones over that aren't online right now that may be interested in responding, but then they see you stating an intent to abandon your own interest-check within 30 minutes of posting it.

Normally chum I would believe you. But again; 10 MONTHS. Ten months of patience and waiting, of formulating ideas and putting them to metaphorical paper, and for what?
<Snipped quote by Mister Thirteen>

I think this is the problem; most people aren't here to have a sterile, professional experience. They see RPing as a social experience and not one purely revolving around writing. If you want the type of people that do, in fact, write for writing's sake, then you are going to need to advertise that fact in anything you do, else you'll attract people who think you're offering a social experience like most other RPs.

I will admit this is my general issue. With society.

I WILL say though, that my IC intros are quite friendly and open.
The problem I’m having is even getting people to acknowledge me or PM me.
As expected.
If you can build up a retort with people, you can hold a conversation.

If you can hold a conversation -even if it's an arguement- you can learn something about them if you pay attention.

For example, sometimes where a RP stalls indicates that a part of the RP concept needs to get trimmed to keep others from tripping on it.

Here’s the deal; I’m not here to “chat”. I’m here to write, not socialize. You CAN write with people without pointlessly chatting. Can you not?

I don’t care about your child or your cancerous mother, I just want to write and keep the relationship simple. Can we not just discuss ideas and concepts??
Well, I had one thing that was a 1x1 idea pitch in the blind that ended up becoming a large group RP that I now have to GM. So somewhere between where you are and where I'm at should be a solution.

In my case it was knowing a few roleplayers well enough to have an idea for common themes that they want...

The other was persistance. Because the first 6 people I pitched it to didn't go very far even though interest was shown, or there was an expectation to just jump directly into the roleplay (which hardly happens in my case).

Thirdly is figuring out when and what to start dialing back on in terms of themes to pursue. As some people intersted in the same genre may not be comfortable with some aspects of it, or not quite willing to give it a 270 degree twist yet (others will just yawn unless you offer a full 960 and throw in a few kinks).

I’ve tried persistence.

And as for knowing people... Well, people won’t really RP with me. I’m an outcast. Hence IDK what people like.

EDIT: Geez’ I don’t normally get this melodramatic. I’m quite frustrated though.
