if you have a "craving", write a story on your own, that way when you inevitably lose interest and quit you're only wasting your own time

Below is a comprehensive codex of all the lore currently developed in the known world, within the Ring of Thunder. There are many, many hiders here: it's kind of like a wikipedia page all condensed into one post, with all the hyperlinks being replaced by hiders. It's great.

NOTE: I am still looking to add lore to these Isles. It is a full-fledged world inside the storms, with political issues and conflicting nations of various ethnicities and viewpoints. Feel free to add to the information below, just inform me of your intentions so I can try and add it to the codex here.

I've decided that we are going to use the normal week, and the normal Gregorian Calendar. Although both of these things are very much a construct of our real world, I feel like there's enough new stuff to figure out, without trying to also figure out new days of the week or new months. For that matter, we're also going to assume that the year of this world is the same length as the year on Earth.

Zimmy's entire life is ninja-ing, I have no regrets.
There was one person in the merry band of damned soldiers who had consumed approximately a third of the alcohol they had brought along with them, and her name was Zimmy. Through what was probably a terribly complex form of black magic, she was still conscious, chatty, and energetic. Maybe she had a magical liver. Who knew? It was the only explanation anyone had ever come up with, and it was a half-assed one at that.

That wasn't to say she was totally...functional. For the past fifteen minutes, she had been staring out the front window, leaning-cross-standing in the door between the driver's side and the cabin. She had been humming tunelessly and tapping the empty bottle in her hand. Like the rest of them, she was torn free of her peaceful reverie by the right turn, so sharp it almost metaphysically stabbed her in the gut.

"Oh shi--" she didn't get to finished before being thrown to the side. Her arm smacked hard on the opening, and she howled with indignation. "Son of a BITCH! Setzer, I swear I'm going to waste you." Luckily for her, him, and the rest of the truck, the pain was dulled somewhat by the alcohol in her veins, otherwise she would have paid them all hell. As it was, all she could afford was some semblance of reality, and hell was well out of her pay-range.

She stumbled over to the bench, trying to cradle the throbbing limb in her lap. Of course they let the stupid playboy drive. She had offered, but no, why let a logical, safe person drive? That would have made too much sense. She stayed there for the last few minutes of the trip, trying to preserve her meager pride by cracking lots of jokes and punching anyone nearby in the shoulder, all in good fun.

If anyone asked, yes, she was fine. No, she did not need anyone to coddle her. She glared at anyone who came close. It was just a little bump. By the time they finally stopped, it had more or less faded away. That was good: Zimmy hated asking Theta for medical aid over shitty small things like this.

Now they had to move. She sighed and closed her eyes. A colorful world of Astral sparks opened up before her, and she reached out to grab some of those pinpricks of light with both hands. When she brought them close to her and set them spinning, she felt friction's hold on her lessen, then disappear, and a fierce grin stole onto her face.

After Daryll had finished unpacking, she just barely let him get out of the way before she slid across the bench and kicked off from the ground. In a flash, she had zipped out of the truck's cramped interior, ignoring the chilly shock across her face. "Hah! We are in this, kids!" She whirled around as she spoke, once again reaching out to Mist as she skated backwards across the ground. She dropped a ball of light from her hands as she went.

Next she pulled down on the Mist from above. Everyone interacted with magic a little differently, and Zimmy saw a sea of sparkling light when she closed her eyes. By manipulating the light, she manipulated the real world in turn. She bent her knees and exploded upward. Gravity's hold on her streeetched thin as she climbed higher, before finally holding firm as she began to descend.

She landed on a thick limb of one of the trees. "WHOO!" she crowed, the alcoholic courage giving her voice. She dropped a crackling ball of energy in the tree limb, mentally pointing it toward another tree. Then she kicked off again, arcing above the trees as she aimed toward another branch. When she landed, she dropped another magical firecracker.

This was just a taste. "How many of these do you think we can set up in a row?" she called down at them all.

Zimmy dropped off the branch lightly, catching it with her hands and swinging herself to the ground, some thirty feet down. As she fell, she snapped her fingers. The ball of energy on the ground blasted off in the direction of the first branch, which in turn set off the firework resting there. In a pinball effect, the whizz of light and sound traveled from the ground, to the tree, across the clearing to the last one, which shot up into the sky with a scream of freedom. It all took only a few seconds: she hadn't even hit the ground yet.

If she had been sober, she would have landed perfectly. As it was, she slipped, planted her hands poorly, and rolled end over end for a good fifteen feet. Eventually she came to a stop, face down and grumbling. "Fuck me," she muttered, before rolling over to admire the aftereffect of her handiwork. Louder she said, "Well. That was unpleasant."
O SHIT
I'm doin my best cap'n
Okay, update: I'm working through the OOC. Lotta information to try and put down.

I would say that it will be done tomorrow, since I'm being dragged off for the night. Sorry for the delay.

Whoosh posted :D
Longbeard had thought that he would be first to arrive. He'd woken with the sun and headed out just as soon as he put the hat on his head. There was no real need to prepare or clean himself up: a simple flick of the wrist removed all the dust and dirt from his clothing. Then he was off, sliding across the deserted landscape with undeniable grace.

He'd spent the two days in Devon, shooting the breeze with some of the inhabitants, and using his particular talent with the earth to aid them in various ways. He purified a well for one couple about his age, and he helped a pair of young men lift heavy planks into position through the use of what amounted to stone lifts. Basic things: he knew the world viewed his kind as dangerous and devil-worshiping, so it was always on his mind to leave a good impression. Tip your hat to everyone you meet, and do you best to leave a place better than you find it.

Now he was on the road--rather, he was out and moving, because there were no more roads--heading for the meeting point which they had been describe two days earlier. It was gonna be a tough mission. He got a feel for these kind of things in his bones, and his bones were telling him to prepare for the worst.

Lucky for his bones, Longbeard was always prepared for the worst, especially when heading into the Helscape. So it was no surprise to him when he passed a dead bird on his way out. Just another omen to things he already expected. He'd already been on the move for a while when the first speck of living beings popped over the horizon. With them came the Helscape, and Longbeard had to take a moment to catch his breath.

The Helscape. Even now, after decades of watching the place and venturing into those forsaken lands, seeing them still brought numbing fear into his heart. A place so devoid of life that the very earth itself bled red fire. The one good thing about the Helscape was the utterly ridiculous amount of obsidian just lying around. While he was in these parts, he'd have no need for regular stone bullets, because there was enough of the black rock here to keep him stocked and shooting until the day he died, and then some. Besides that, obsidian bullets were much easier to charm than heterogeneous stone mixtures like he was used to, and they were fiendishly sharp and damaging besides.

"Ho there!" He called as he approached. Flynt was there--how did the young bastard get everywhere faster than he did, anyway?--along with Essex and, Reginald assumed, the others in the surveyor group. An Ancient goliath who Longbeard didn't know, and a very lovely small woman who he would have loved to get to know better, were he just a decade or two younger. Nowadays his interest in beautiful women was purely optical. He'd seen enough people die from getting close to Mages to know where to draw the line.

"Mornin' to you all. Essex. Flynt. Glad we ain't dead just yet. And who're you?" he asked politely, tipping his hat to the strangers.

"Ludo Greene." Said the Ancient. Nothing more.

"Jane Wrathebone," said the pretty dwarf. She took his hand firmly and squeezed. "Jane to me friends. Glad t'make yer acquaintance, Longbeard." At his raised eyebrow, she chuckled softly. "Ahhh, yer reputation precedes ya, Stoneheart! A relic in a sea o'nubiles, ain't it so?"

"As you say, ma'am," said Longbeard, smiling gently at the woman's forthrightness. "Pleased to meet you as well, Jane. Hope we'll be workin' well together. Gotta make sure we all come back'n one piece, hey?" He straightened and glanced around. "And where're our fine fellows? They're missin' some lovely daylight."
