The sting came late. First was the rush—the hiss of the shards, the weight of her bat swinging through the fog, the desperate need to move. Then the burn followed, sharp and searing, carving lines across her arms, her hip, the side of her thigh. Shallow, not gutting, but enough to make her stumble.

Her breath hitched, and she went down to a knee with a splash, knuckles whitening on the bat’s handle. Blood curled into the water in ribbons, thin but steady, tugged away by the slow current.

Roscoe’s bark thundered behind her, low and frantic, his paws slapping hard against the stone as he tried to push past her side. She flung out an arm, catching his scruff even as the cuts screamed with the motion.

“No—stay back, boy. I’ve got it. I’ve got it—” The lie tasted coppery as blood in her mouth.

She sucked in a ragged breath, dragging her sleeve across her brow as if that could wipe away more than sweat. Her chest rose and fell too quick, too shallow, but she ground her teeth against the panic clawing at her ribs. She’d seen worse. She’d patched worse.

Still—God, it hurt. And for a split second she felt stupid, reckless. Charging a caster head-on with a bat—what the hell was she thinking? Marcus’s voice flickered in her skull like an echo: “Don’t you ever run blind into fire, Evie. You’re no good to anyone dead.”

Her throat tightened. She forced it down.

Locke’s HUD-lit silhouette cut through the mist, and she caught the sound of his rifle barking somewhere to her flank. Yumi’s blade had already torn the mage apart, and the mist itself seemed to recoil. Evie exhaled, slow, ragged, forcing her boots under her again.

She hissed as she straightened, shifting her grip on the bat, trying to ignore the hot slickness of blood down her side.

“Not my brightest play…” she muttered to no one in particular, her voice hoarse."We all good? Regroup and move forward?" She called out to the others in the mist.
I'm here whenever you're ready!
Welcome to the Roleplayers guild! And welcome to roleplay!

Roleplay is a fun collaborative creative hobby. If you wouldn't mind being part of a group, I'm in an RPG group. We have a system that's similar to table top games like dungeons and dragons or path finder. For character growth. It's almost like a video game.

Medieval fantasy with a splash of magitech and steam punk. And the "Isekai" trope. If you're interested at all shoot me a message!

Good luck roleplaying! Hope you find what you're looking for!
Welcome to the Roleplayers guild!

Can't stay away when the rp bug bites. Ive had to take a few breaks here and there my self. But I always come back. Something about the cooperative creativity.

If you're interested in fantasy and original settings, I'm part of a group that roleplays together in one big world. It's medieval fantasy but with the twist of people being summoned from other worlds. "Isekai" if you will. If you're interested shoot me a message!
Hey there! Welcome to Roleplayers Guild!

I know how it is to be our of the forum game. Spent several years on docs my self. I'm glad I found my way back to forums.

If you like tabletop and video games, fantasy with a splash of maybe steampunk and magitech? I'm in a group that's always accepting new folks. We have an RPG system for character growth kind of similar to a table top game. It's an original setting where people all roleplay in the same world. In different adventures.

If you'd be interested at all shoot me a message! Happy roleplaying!

The tavern’s warmth flickered uneasy in the wake of Netzir’s glittering theatrics. A few locals gasped when the shards pierced the ceiling, but when they dissolved into a fall of dust, most only hunched deeper into their seats, muttering. One man near the hearth tugged his star-charm tighter against his throat, his lips moving in a hollow murmur.

The bartender slammed his rag onto the counter, glaring. “You’ll pay for repairs if that left so much as a dent, beastman. I’ve no patience for turning my inn into a carnival.”

Reed, though dripping wet, only laughed. “Better dust than splinters, eh Ben? Though I’d wager your rafters don’t thank him either.” He turned a smile on Netzir, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Pretty tricks, friend. But Arborhaven doesn’t need gilding—what it needs is remembering.”

Juniper, sitting upright despite the weight of the room’s stares, nodded earnestly to Miiya’s offer. “Oh, yes! Please. I’d be glad of a scout—Guild contracts don’t forbid working with independents. We’ll need all the help we can get.” Her tail wagged once, defiant against the dreariness.

The man Miiya had collared stiffened, his eyes darting to her and then to the glittering shards above. His shoulders bunched, but her grip made sure he stayed seated. His lips pressed thin, but at last he croaked, “…showy mage’ll get himself killed out there. Not that anyone cares…”

Reed’s gaze sharpened. “What do you mean by that, friend? Killed where?”

The man flinched, his eyes cutting to the door, then to the hearth where the missing posters fluttered in the draft. He had no silver charm pinned to him—just a fraying cloak and a weary face.

“South road. And the river path. Folk go missing out there, aye. Travelers, farmers, even a Guild pair. But no one listens. Easier not to.”

The room hushed further, the storm outside a constant low roar against the shutters. A few of the charm-wearers twitched, their fingers brushing their talismans in unison, but said nothing.

Juniper leaned forward, eyes wide. “That’s exactly why I’m here! If people vanish on those roads, then that’s where we should start.” She glanced at the others gathered—the birdgirl, the insect-masked woman, the drunk swordsman, even Netzir with his conjured board. “Together, we can do it.”

Reed gave a low hum, rubbing his chin. “South road, river path… Aye. I’ve walked them both in brighter seasons. Too many shadows there now, it seems.” He glanced around the tavern, letting his words hang heavy. “And shadows only grow deeper when folk stop caring.”

The man under Miiya’s arm squirmed, muttering again. “Said too much already…”

The fire popped, sparks spiraling up the chimney. Outside, thunder growled, as though to underline the words.
Welcome to Roleplayers Guild! That was a lovely intro! Love the use of the four horsemen .

I'm doing something similar with a cult in a group rp I'm in. It's medieval fantasy but it's "Isekai" so there's a little bit of everything. We're always open and ready to help folks get started if you have any interest.

Happy roleplaying! Hope you find something that suits your fancy partner *tips hat*
Hey! Welcome to Roleplayers Guild!

What kinds of genres are you interested in?

I'm a fan of anime and Isekai tropes. I roleplay with a group here on site that all plays together in a medieval fantasy world. If you're interested at all.
