And it's a lot of fun to roleplay. Their contrasting personalities have a very odd and fitting chemistry.

Man I wish BioWare knew about this RP. I would shit bricks if they could translate our characters to a video game as NPCs.
The only limitation is that for any badass normal type, they should specialize in being really good at a few areas and just being competent at others. I basically don't want scientists that are masters of every discipline or batman-types who are good at everything. And their mastery of their skills and background have to be plausible. Because when you come down to it Batman's backstory isn't very plausible. And any scientific technobabble has to sound plausible at least too.

EDIT: Huh, you had political turmoil too?

And it should be noted that the PCs can be more than just villain ass-kickers. They can be medical specialists, tech guys, investigators, etc etc.
Well it's the inciting event in the DCU Online Game, the premise for the Flash TV show, and what Shaw wanted to do in X-Men First Class. So maybe not a widespread device but it's becoming more common. Like the need to have a stinger after every movie.

It's currently around 10:30 pm around here so don't worry :P

And Marion Harmon and Myke Cole are respectively the authors of the most bitchin' Superhero and Military Fantasy series I have ever read.
Aww Kali and Alexa are bonding.

It's simultaneously twisted and sweet.
New CS but you can just repost established sheets and I'll link to the old CS thread just for the posterity.
Krein, I basically already ripped the premise Marion Harmon and Myke Cole's series but I think the concept of a Mass Empowering Event is becoming a common plot device now.

The OOC should be up by mid-morning by my time.

You can have a sidekick just don't expect him to have the same Hero protection PCs do and they have to be at least 18.
Curses are black magic, your character practices it and is found heads are gonna roll. At least generally, because most curses seek to kill or otherwise brutalize people but more minor and harmless hexes are perfectly legal.

Demons exist and in many forms. They are Fallen Angels and random beasties that signed up because they thought Lucy was a cool guy. There is the occasional half-breed demon and the Awakening outright mutated some people into demonic looking humanoids that aren't beholden to anyone.

Eldritch Abominations also exist and summoning them is a very Bad Thing, they'd be late-game enemies and it's not likely for the really huge ones to show up but references can be made. Reaching out beyond the confines of our reality is also a magical violation.
Hehe alright then, with new guys and old guys I can start getting started on an OOC.

And as always the door is always open. Or rather there is a giant gaping hole where the door is supposed to be.
We're so getting Keyser Soze'd I can feel it.
Superheroes/Supervillains would be a pretty fun thing to play methinks.
