The Lab

Sixgun's pantomime of terror was absolutely convincing as the Witchfinder did not immediately add another hole to the cowboy's head. Chunk did in fact take this as his signal to go in and kicked in the door, firing at everything within. There were several humans working over what seemed to be a hybrid between a chemistry set and crude arcane workings. Beakers and tubes of anomalous fluids were shattered and two or three technicians were shot in the chest, their blood mixing with a veritable rainbow of chemicals.

Chunk turned and ran and what followed next wasn't pretty. An emaciated hispanic man raised his arms and muttered a word and his hands let loose a green misty burst that hit Chunk in the back and immediately he started to... dissolve. His clothes turned from black to grey and ashy, melting partially and turning brittle and crusty in other places. His skin turned from a sunburned pink to a putrid yellow before it started to melt too. Chunk's screams reached an unbelievable pitch as the spell worked it's ways through his now melted skin into his muscles and bones, unable to walk he sank down into the ground and mere moments later all that was left of Chunk was a putrid puddle in the dirt. He had a bad run in with Legion's Alchemist.

The Alchemist turned his attention to several tall gnarled plants in the room and he touched down muttering a word and then the plants moved, uprooting themselves from their pots and twisting their bodies, turning into roughly humanoid shapes of dark bark, greenish fluid leaking from several places but especially what passed for a pair of eyes. The mandrakes, a half-dozen in all, screeched and bolted out the doorway and came around the sides of the lab, taking quick but shuffling strides as they looked for more intruders.

The woman nodded lightly, "Ok. But what if you get shot? Or worse? That woman was unbelievably fast." There were a dozen or so other patrons within close proximity of the woman and Rift Hound, their escape would be difficult but not impossible. The guards with the guns on the other hand were the first obstacle.

Bishop snapped a thunderous finger again and the guard departed before returning with the drink Shifter requested. Bishop raised his wine, "A toast. To mutual dialogue and cooperation." He drunk and set down the glass, going about back to his dish. He nodded a their answers, "I see. Not your typical heroes then. Lost souls. Looking for something more. Well let me tell you this, Legion is always willing to take in strays." His eyes gleamed as he chuckled, the wine and tea rumbling at the same time.

He cut into his steak and blood mixed into his dish, "Why do things for only one reason, when you can do them for many? Maybe because it's fun. Maybe because of the money. Maybe because it'll burn the Outfit even more." Flasher returned and teleported a group of small children away. The Marconi family group was now down a third of its party. Bishop chewed,"Because while we abduct Marconi's family, this captive audience ensures none of you do anything stupid. And now that we have two of the League's own I feel even more secure."

Bishop leaned in after taking another bite,"And because it states definitively who we are. We're the ones in control of the streets now Heroes. Not the Outfit. Not you. Us. We do what we please, when we please, wherever we please, and however we please. Stay out of our war, let us deal with the criminals you left over, and we can have peace. After this war, after we eliminate every violent outfit in basically half the country, we'll keep the violence down to a minimum. We'll keep the oh so terrible crimes behind closed doors, beneath the surface. Your innocent civilians won't be attacked. You get to keep doing what you're doing. And we get to rule the largest criminal empire in history. How about that for a business deal?"

He drank more wine and went at his plate again, it was now more than half-done. He dabbed at his mouth with a napkin, "So any questions, concerns, comments, conundrums? I brought you here to talk after all."

Prison

The mole creature went still as the impact killed it. Abaddon's wild cry rang throughout the battle. Suddenly serpents appeared around Abaddon's body, dark and red-eyed creatures that wrapped around him tighter than any rope and bite at him, venom dripping from their fangs as they both constricted him and tried to poison him. A calm, resonant voice pierced the air, "You will regret invoking me creature."

A tall caucasian man appeared, borne aloft on the back of what seemed to be a demonic gryphon. The man raised his hands and two massive black-furred, red-eyed dogs appeared blood around their muzzles and red saliva dripping from their mouths. The man snapped his fingers and the dogs ran at him, faster than any mortal canine could have accomplished and they leaped through the air at the ensnared Abaddon, one at his torso and one aiming for his head.

Inside the prison, Frost grimly stared as he started to kill Apogee. Then suddenly a human missile slammed into him knocking him to the ground, robbing him of all breath, and shocking him to boot. The man groaned and lay on the floor, consciousness slowly leaving him. Apogee crashed to the floor and her eyes gleamed red, the heroine readying a heat vision blast but not firing in a bid to raise her temperature back up.

Suddenly the Surgeon sprang at Volt, ten razor sharp claws extended as he dove at Volt's face. Nearby Rot slowly got to her feet. Near the infirmary, the screams echoed down the halls to the three heroes as the fireball strode calmly through the halls, inmates and guards alike burning in her wake or frantically retreating from her. She was now very close to the infirmary and the injured guards, staff, and inmates within.

On camera the prison was in chaos, inmates brutally beating each other or guards, Legion men or inmates executing any cornered staff they found, guards, staff and even other non-violent inmates hiding in every nook and cranny they could find, all kinds of brutal no-holds barred melees, wanton destruction of the buildings and vandalizing, and more than one female guard or smaller prisoner being dragged off screaming. The overcrowded, underfunded, ill-equipped prison had been thrown into complete anarchy.
No need to apologize LeeRoy no need at all.

Anything that affects you personally is way more important.

It was great having you and I hope you can come back sometime, but until then we can still talk on Skype and I wish you the best.

For everyone else I'll have an update in the morning.
Yep I saw, when I get more free time I'll work up a post with more of the plan.
Yog, Nope.

I just realized. Black Spider is basically Pariah. They even have the same first name o_o
Yeah KGBeast isn't much but still guy deserved a little bit more.

Too me Black Spider was one of the most interesting because of his vigilante side and being one of the more badass ones present. I actually even felt some sympathy for King Shark and Killer Frost which is surprising.

Hopefully Throne of Atlantis is good, I want the Justice League to be more... mature in their characterizations than in War but so far it looks good. I haven't read the comic for it but I heard Firestorm, Zatanna, Green Arrow, and the like appeared in it so it's a shame they probably won't show up in the film. I do like how Aquaman is getting a proper origin story. So I'm optimistic.

Batman was a side character in this one which is good really.
I did watch Flashpoint Paradox. It was one of the goriest and darkest animated... anything in existence.

The only thing is that I feel they really wasted KGBeast and Black Spider.
A melding of the two universes would be pretty.... scary for anyone who didn't have superpowers.

Also just watched Assault on Arkham. It was probably one of the best animated features I've ever seen.
Size of an average sized man, that's usually the case unless I state otherwise.
No need to apologize, real life issues trump roleplay every time and I hope everything works out for you and your family.

Chunk smiled and lifted his Beretta, "You're smarter than you look Ross." Chunk slinked off to the far side of the building, completely unsuspecting of his suppose ally's true intentions. Chunk raised his gun at the door and readied to follow through with Sixgun's plans, anxious to unload some rounds. The sound of bubbling and shuffling of feet continued.

Pariah silenced them with a hard look, "We wait." His gaze went back to the monitor, his eyes taking in Bishop for a few moments longer. Taking in the handsome black man's features and manner, listening to his voice. Suddenly he stiffened for the briefest of moments before it was gone. Pariah whispered through the implants, "You need to tread carefully. You're in more danger than we thought." Pariah turned to his team, "Slight change of plans. When we go I want Zaphkiel to go through the upper story and Ocean Warrior through the ground floor. You're both strong enough to go right through. Once Break Neck is through the portal she speeds around and knocks down everyone she can in the chaos. We need to take them down fast and hard if we want this to be clean."

Bishop nodded, "Charmed. Well if you're not having anything..." Bishop snapped his fingers, the sound more like a firecracker than a snap, and one of the thugs retreated. He returned several moments later with a bottle of wine and a plate of steak, pasta, and mashed potatoes. Bishop laid a napkin on his lap, straightened his tie and started to tuck in knife and fork cleanly and precisely assaulting the medium-rare steak. The thug poured a glass of wine for him. Bishop swallowed his first bite of beef and pasta, smiling, "Good stuff. You're missing out. I would pay my compliments to the Chef.... but unfortunately he's dead. Oh well. Suppose I'll have to leave a larger tip then."

He drank the wine, "You're sure you don't want any? This isn't prepackaged crap, this is genuine." Bishop grinned at the two of them, Villa snorting in the corner behind them while Permafrost leaned on a wall, Locust standing in place several yards behind Bishop and Belladonna cheerfully drawing on a table near them. Upstairs they could hear the sounds of others moving around and down here they could see around ten thugs all armed and watching the customers. Bishop dabbed at his mouth, "Straight to business, I see. What's the rush? I think we have time to have a nice meal no? Why not try and get to know each other?"

Bishop kept eating, chewing and swallowing before he talked, "I have to say Killshade, you could have picked another name. It just sounds so.... gauche. If you know what I mean. Shifter isn't bad though, though I have to wonder if you normally look as lovely as you today. I suppose I already knew the answer. You're the big heroes, looking to save the day." Bishop grinned at Killshade, "I just want to have a nice chat, get to know the people I'll be working with talk about our future together." This time his eyes turned red for the briefest of moments, "But if you don't sit down and be polite, I will have someone killed this instant. Right in front of you two and messily. And if you try anything you'll be dead before you can blink. Now please sit."

His manner didn't change at all, it didn't turn harder or colder. It had stayed in the exact same genially polite and somewhat charming attitude. He went back to eating, "Now, why don't you tell me a little about yourselves? No secret identities or anything like that. But how did you come to join your little League? What made you go into this work? Last chance for food too. Feel free to ask questions yourselves, no good conversation is one sided."

The woman had been whimpering and holding herself, tears streaking down her face and mixing with the blood of her date. She sniffled and blinked when Rift Hound called to her. She dried her tears and whispered as quietly as she could, "What should we do? They're everywhere."

Prison

Outside the Prison the battle raged on and the League had the upper hand, the enemy's losses approaching over a third of their numbers. The ground had almost swallowed Abaddon to the hip until he flew out and a strange brown furry creature was latched onto his legs. The creature, who may have been a mutant, hissed and with surprising strength started pulling Abaddon down back to the ground, flipping Abaddon's weight and body so that he would land face first when they hit the ground.

Bullseye blinked, her eyes fluttering for a few seconds as she just processed what he said, she arched a brow at him and she grinned a little and nodded not saying anything. She put a new arrow in her bow and set about securing the area, Morph and Magnetar joining her. Other heroes joined them and on the comm channel multiple teams reported they had subdued their own areas. There were a few casualties however and it was reported that three members besides Bluegrass had been killed, several more injured. Redeye closed Bluegrass's eyes and carried his body in her arms, seeking to place him respectfully away from the fighting until they could get him out of there.

Meanwhile Sonja's baseball bat hit Brick right in the gut, knocking what wind he had left out of his already choking lungs and driving him to his knees. He saw stars and Daredevil used his weight to push Brick forward onto the hard pavement. Brick's face cracked the ground and he blacked out. Daredevil jumped off his back and grinned at Sonja, "And he's outta there! Looks like you're more than just a spellslinger Sonja. Drinks at the Fortress on me." He laughed for a second before sobering, the thoughts of his passed teammates hitting him, and flipped through the air to join his teammates.

Silvertongue's efforts paid off. The direction where Volt was heading revealed where the Surgeon, Shank, and Rot were terrorizing the guards the scream coming from a female guard as the Surgeon pierced her leg with a razor sharp nail. Suddenly Apogee appeared and hit the Surgeon hard sending him flying. She dodged Rot's acid attack and clapped her hands sending a shockwave that rocked the acid spitter onto her back. Her eyes flashed white and she smacked the air sending an unseen shape into a wall. Suddenly a stream of ice appeared and caught her in the leg sending her down to the ground, her leg's frozen. She cracked the ice and looked up to see Frost another villain Volt took down raise his hands and suddenly Emily started turning blue, Frost's attacks lowering her inner body temperature to dangerous levels.

Another camera feed showed the guard barracks which also featured an armory, the last one that hadn't been raided by the inmates. A squadron of guards were locked inside and pointed guns at the door while a mob of inmates tried to bash their way in. Another feed showed burning hallways and a walking fire in human shape, slowly advancing to what seemed to be the medical area. Another feed showed a man walking past before suddenly changing into an armored guard. The rest showed scenes of chaos as inmates fought each other, the guards, and the League throughout the indoors and outdoor areas of the prison. A few monitors were almost completely static though on one bright flashes of light could be made out.

What was clear was that the team needed to act and fast.
