quick update: I was hoping that I'd be able to get my essay done yesterday, but I had to spend today finishing it off.

acting Cosette is difficult because you have to convince the audience that you totally love this dude you had just looked at. The audience basically sees you as a MAN STEALER, and it's hard to win over their hearts when Eponine has "On My Own" and also dies in her love's arms.

PFFFFF no. Even if she wasn't incredibly more hot AND rich AND socially acceptable, she wins Best Girl for the simple reason that Eponine has no claim on him. He's a free man- I don't think they were ever actually an item, and even if they were it is OK to stop liking someone (/start liking someone else).

That's not to say I didn't feel sorry for eponine; her character is incredibly pitiful. Just, that has no affect on my opinion of the other girl. It's not like she intended to 'steal' him.

TLDR: BLONDS ARE JUST BETTER OK

EDIT: also poor girl probably stank. Like awful.

That's basically true. I enjoyed the acting side of the singing a lot- the church scene with valjean was great, and I can see why people thought hathaway was great (even though seeing it on cinema was basically LOOOOOOK AT HER ENOURMOUS FACE 20 CINEMA SCREEN FEET OF FAAAAACE). But you can't really put it on a level with a broadway production. Because of how they can get so much closer than the audience in a theatre, the acting quality became more important than the singing. Remember too, that this is most people's first exposure to it- obviously people who've seen it or sung parts are gonna find some of the singing grating, but the aim wasn't to produce an excellent musical, it was to produce an excellent muscial film- unfortunately that means compromises.

Also, Halo- you're a guy. Just go rent a black tie suit and have done with it. Planning clothes for smart events isnt meant to be difficult..

I don't think so? hate to give a dull answer, but it just seems kind of normal after about 5 minutes. Unless you visit the North or (shudder) North Wales- in which case it's basically like listening to a foreign language anyway.

Generally? The american's I've known in England have loved it, more cause of the strange culture differences than the accents. It's not like living in a BBC period drama (apart from Wales and the North which are basically the nasty bits of Dickens), sadly.

Aah so that's why Edinburgh's your second choice... I got kind of confused by that. For those that don't know, Scotland treats english students like foreign students- we'd have to pay through the nose to go there.

My prom was just about the most aggressively and hilariously shit thing I have ever witnessed. I guess that's what you get living in southampton, the only city in the UK to look it's best in the time period just after being bombed.

Personally, I prefer gin when spirits are on offer. Vodka always seemed very tasteless to me idk.

Also Halo- what's your plan for next year? Gap year or straight off to uni?

I myself only appreciate cake when purchased in a box, or a plastic wrapper. Making your own cake always seemed too difficult to me, and the bought stuff is just as good. There's some people who go mad over enormous chocolate logs, or cakes covered in cream made by a whole team of chefs, but personally, I just can't say no to battenburg ;)
