Shortly.

Just a regular university student, majoring in hospitality and tourism. Also a history and trivial knowledge nerd, aircraft aficionado, occasional trekker and a D&D player.

@Sonatina I like your character, but I have a suggestion and a "couple" questions. Could you include espionage and spying to her reportoire? I don't think Aedin would hire "just" an assassin. And you could tell more about the King of Assassins. Why would he groom a child from a land far away to be his successor? Didn't he have anyone capable or trustworthy enough to succeed him? And why he was overthrown? Were there unhappy underlings or something else?
I have updated the royal family and the religions. There are now two major religions, the cult of Dagon and the church of Mitras.
Reserved for GM.

The Royal Family

The House Mawr sports a golden lion on a crimson field as their banner, and their words are "Ever Onward!"

@Sonatina, @Lexicon, @Ozymandias and @ShidenBlades, the RP is now live. Start sketching your characters to the OOC tab, and after I've read and approved them, you can move them to the Characters. I have compiled quickly a brief timeline, and I will start writing the religions section tomorrow. If you have wishes/ideas, now would be a good time.

The Dark Age of Brythunnia

Artist: Arthur Rackham (1867-1939)

The year is 964 AC, or After the Crowning. A threat of civil war and conflict with its neighbouring kingdoms looms over the head of the Brythunnians. The old King Aedin the Second has died, and his only lawful son Duncan has inherited the throne, holding his court in the city of Lundine. But Duncan's hold on power is meagre at best, as his father left few illegimite sons and daughters, and many of his nobles would like to replace Duncan, who is thought to be more of a philosopher than a king. How will you react to the situation? Will you start playing the game of power politics, or will stand in the sidelines, compromising and adapting to the situation? The choice is yours, and yours only.

The Dark Age of Brythunnia is a character-driven RPG á la Game of Thrones, Witcher and Dragon Age, main point being realism and gritty world. I have drawn inspiration from A Song of Ice and Fire, the Witcher series and Conan the Barbarian, and slightly from real history, mainly from the early medieval Europe after the fall of Rome and before the Crusades.

There will not be much magic or supernatural elements, and if you use them, make them ambiguous and mysterious, and I would like to point out that make your characters three dimensional. I want to see some effort on that regard. Make them feel real, or at least, not boring.

If you have questions, improvements or suggestions, I'll be listening. This will be the first RP I am managing, so be straight.
Richard walked to the hangar, smoking a cigar. He had detoured to his private quarters to pick his backpack he kept always packed for rapid situations like this. He had his officer's uniform on and a black beret on his head. He carried a big olive green backpack, that held his combat gear and clothes. Richard gazed around the hangar. The engineers were already preparing the Rex, and Richard spotted Doctor McCulloch - "the Great and Terrible", as one of her assistants had once told Richard. Beside her was Ensign Griffon. A good young lad, but he apparently had some trusting issues. He has a lot to learn, Richard thought, and exhaled some smoke from his lungs. Like I did at his age.

Richard walked to the two. All the engineers and the like were hurrying around to their posts. A few of them saluted Richard, and he saluted them back briefly. Standing beside McCulloch and Griffon, he asked, "How are the midgets?". He put the cigar in his mouth. Richard sometimes referred the Colossi as midgets just to annoy her.
I have sketched the map on paper. It contains only the Kingdom of Brythunnia and I renamed Rikain to Rivania.
@Lexicon I am going to detail the world more deeply this week. I believe by weekend you guys and gals have more indormation and lore to work on.
@Ozymandias Not yet. I have been slightly busy a couple days, and I haven't thought about the name very much. And speaking of power, I don't want the characters having too much power without a good reason. Afterall, this RP is inspired by Early Medieval Europe, where nations' power was mostly local and nobles had to rely on social relations and small professional guards to boost their power.

@Sonatina The young king will be mostly used as a NPC. I will a CS about him and his father to act as reference.
@Ozymandias I have an idea of a nation north of Brythunnia that could cause a threat to Bryhtunnia in form of raids and small attacks. And I am okay with your suggestion.

@Sonatina Sounds good to me.
