Nico felt slightly tired as she sat and stared into the flickering mass of the bonfire. She rested her head in her hand with her elbow on her knee. Suffice to say the two didn't find anything scary or creepy in the least on their adventure into the outskirts of the camp. There was a point when Nico walked face first into a cobweb and shrieked in what she considered to be one of the most embarrassing moments of her young life. Shayne took it in good humour though, much to Nico's relief.

She thought she heard Shayne thank her for being her friend. She shook it off at first, in her eyes if anyone had to thank someone for being their friend it should have been Nico to Shayne. Her suspicions were confirmed with Shayne's next sentence though which sent a mix of shock and happiness through her. She took off her jacket and laid it next to her, scratching the top of her pale arms now visible in contrast to the orange hues of the fire.
"I had a great time today too, just a shame we didn't encounter any axe-wielding maniacs along the way." She replied, trying her best to act cool even though her ecstatic feelings were forcing a grin onto her face.
A slightly confused look ran across Nico's face at the mention of 'nightfall'. When in gods name was that? Precisely when the sun set or sometime before or after it? She didn't like the laissez faire way the camp was run and it was only her first day. She liked to arrive fashionably late to events, how could she arrive fashionably late to something with no set time?

A small amount of shock shook through Nico as Shayne grabbed her hand. Most people from her old high school didn't even want to speak to her, let alone touch her. The anxiety within her began to rear it's ugly head again. What if this was all some sort of cruel prank? Maybe someone from her old school had seen her at the camp and paid Shayne to co-operate?

She shook these ridiculous thoughts from her mind. She wouldn't let the anxiety get the best of her. Not this time. She smiled, responding in an enthusiastic tone.
"Sounds like a great idea. Who knows, we could come across something legitimately scary to tell at the bonfire tonight rather than those old corny stories about hooks left on car doors or whatever. Lead the way, captain!"
@Sightles Sounds good to me! I'll get a quick response up soon to your last post.
Nico paced for a second or two, staring at the ceiling as she tried to think of something to do to waste time until the bonfire. She understood why the camp didn't have wifi, but it would have really been useful inbetween activities if only for something to do. She supposed that as time went on and they made more friends their free time would be filled with chatter at the very least. That is if she did make more friends.
"No idea, how long is it until the bonfire anyway? We could take a little wander around the grounds I suppose, maybe find something interesting around here. Unless you've got some ideas about how to kill time?"
@Sightles Sorry, been sort of busy with work, I should hopefully be able to reply quicker now!
Nico opened her bag, searching through it for anything that she could possibly need at that precise time. Of course, her bag was basically just filled with clothes, cassettes and a few other bits and bobs here or there, but who knows what she might have thrown in during a sleepless stupor.

Nothing, she grabbed her bag and slid it under her bed, giving it a small kick for good measure. Nico couldn't decide whether she was happy or disappointed with Shayne's comment. The bed's weren't as terrible as they could have been that was for sure, but being an only child, Nico was used to have a large double bed to herself.
"You're right about that. Just hope I don't accidentally roll out of it in the night. Also sorta hope they've checked the beds since last year, who knows what creepy crawlies could be living in our pillows otherwise."
Nico scratched her neck staring at the cabins. She smiled as she replied.
"Don't worry, Canadians are just like you guys but we live in the cold and drink nothing but maple syrup" She joked. She shifted her stance slightly, watching the other girls choose bunks and settle in. Readjusting the strap on her bag she continued speaking.
"That one looks as good as any I suppose" She spoke, leading the way into the cabin before chucking her bag down on the nearest empty bed, hardly paying regard to the other campers within the cabin.
Nico kicked a rock off to the side as she began to reply. She could hardly believe how similar the pairs situations were.
"Forced is probably too strong a word. If there was a word that basically meant forced but not really then that." She said, explaining it as eloquently as a bull in a china shop. "My parents sent me here for the same reason, I'm from Ontario, moved down here because my mom got a job here." She said, dancing around many of the more truthful factors that contributed to the move.

She surveyed the cabins. They all looked pretty much the same, save for a few bits of wear and tear here or there. She honestly didn't mind which cabin she stayed in, as long as her room-mates weren't total assholes. She brushed a lock of hair back behind her ear, as if it wouldn't just slide back to it's original position as soon as she started moving.
"I don't mind in all honesty. If you've got a favourite number we could go to that cabin I suppose?" She asked, offering a solution to a problem that hardly even existed.
A smile crossed over Nico's face as Shayne began laughing at her attempts at humour. She brought her hand down from her mouth, adjusting her coat sleeve more out of habit than actual fear. She hoped the relief she felt after Shayne mentioned she didn't have a bunk partner didn't cross her face, looking desperate was never good in any situation.

"God, don't be thankful, I'm just glad we're in the same predicament otherwise I'd probably not only be lost but alone". She spoke, letting out a small laugh. She began making her way towards the cabins, Shayne in tow as she kicked up dust and began to speak. "So what brings you to Camp Wachata?" She asked, adding a sort of tour guide tone to the name of the camp. "My parents forced me to come, otherwise I'd probably be sitting in a dark room listening to emo music" She explained, hesitating before speaking once more. "That was a joke by the way, despite my appearance I am in no way an emo."
@Sightles Is it cool if I write that Shayne starts walking with Nico towards the cabin? Just so it makes more sense for Nico to begin talking while walking haha.
