Of course it wasn't hellish. You got bunches of advice.

I know, and I thank you all for that. I didn't have it to reference during play, though, so I could only keep a few parts that I thought to be key, like not worrying with the dragon tail sword. And I never could run past the dragon.
What? I'm not sure what to say..

welcome to the two days of your Hell.

It actually wasn't hellish. I enjoyed it.
It was awesome. Not as hard as I imagined, but, pretty challenging. Every boss I faced kicked my ass multiple times before I beat them, and, I couldn't hold on to more than 2 humanity, or 7000 souls if I planned on heading somewhere I was unsure of, though.

I splat ran the catacombs, and got a great scythe, then upgraded it to +5 with shards, and I want to make it divine (I got the ember) but, I have no blue shards... So I can't venture into the catacombs (safely) without it.

I rang the undead church bell of awakening, after beating the bell gargoyles, and now I'm kind of stuck, but, I think I'll figure it out eventually.

bosses/enemies that don't reappear that I defeated:
bosses:
Prison guard (easy)
Taurus demon (easy, once I used fireballs/firebombs and a shield, but he killed me tons of times.)
Moonlight butterfly (Easy, once I got the timing for dodges down)
Minotaur/capri demon (ridiculously unfair. The dogs got to me if I tried to fight him, and there wasn't much space to maneuver.)
Bell gargoyles (by far one of the most challenging foes, due to there being 2, and, my inability to keep an eye on both. Luckily, I killed the first one in like, 8 hits while the other one missed with it's flame breath.)

enemies:
Some sort of knight in black armor... There was one with a club that I defeated when i got a double critical ring. I basically criticalled it the whole fight.
a demon thing with no head? It shoots lightning. I got behind it, and slowly whittled it away.
a necromancer
two trees that never bothered anybody

Enemies that I never beat:
A WOLF WITH A FUCKING SWORD
A Poison dragon thing
A hydra
The red dragon (I can't get past it's fire AND the gates)

my current armor is elite knight armor, and, eastern armor. I have a +5 great scythe, 0 humanity, and 0 souls.

I think first run is only chump difficulty if you're smart about gear choices and make sure to upgrade your stuff when possible. I would have had a horrible time in Anor Londo and places after it if I had stuck to the Drake Sword instead of spending some souls to make a better weapon, for instance.

Ah, well, that's kind of disappointing. I hate it when the end boss of a game is easier than most of the other bosses. I didn't bother at all with parrying because I'm shit at it, I use a greatshield and smack people with it instead of parrying, just blocked his hits and took the fire damage that pushed through the shield. It probably helped that I had 40 Endurance and the Cloranthy Ring to have beastly Stamina for frequent blocking.

Yeah, I plan on keeping track of everything, if I can. So, it probably wouldn't be that bad.

Just finished my first play through of it, smashed the end boss without breaking a sweat. I think I might have been way over-prepared for the fight, since all my weapons and armor were reinforced to the max, I was soul level 83, and I had Estus Flasks +6. Didn't even have a great shield for the damage being thrown at me, but I was able to tank the hits just fine and kill him rather quickly, and I only had to heal twice due to the damage that went through my shield. Thought I was gonna have to get crazy with the fight, since the last couple I'd done were full of shenanigans, but I just stood toe to toe with him and traded shots until he died. NG+ should be fun stuff once I get past the early stages. I hear Sen's Fortress is where shit gets real in NG+, so I'm looking forward to getting my ass kicked again instead of plowing through chumps in the Undead Burg and such.

Sounds pretty awesome. I've read that ng+ stacks up to seven, increasing difficulty each time. So, yeah, I guess the first run is like, chump's difficulty if you think about it.

I've never even heard of this game. Sounds interesting.

It is, I think. When I get back, I'll say how I feel about it if I played it. it's a very punishing game, from what I hear from others.
whoa... fucking love gauntlet weapons, from what I've seen. they are pretty fast for their range... too bad I likely won't use some.

There's a handful of gear scattered throughout, but the skeletons are very tough to kill if you head in there early, and they swarm you in a big way. Very deadly -- of course, it's also a pretty good place to grind for souls early on.My advice for weapons is -- Balder Side Sword. In fact just get Balder Everything. You'll meet some enemies *fairly* early on that wear these tattered red capes, and kick your ass -- they have lots of really good gear (including one of the better swords in the game, one of the best shields in the game, and one of the best medium-heavy armor sets in the game). They also give a pretty hefty number of souls, and you'll meet them right before heading into some tough areas, so it's worth the time. Kill lots of them -- they'll give up their gear eventually. The equipment isn't *super* against magic, but it's strong against most everything else, and it makes a good benchmark (if you find armor pieces that are better than Balder, it's good armor).Alternatively, shield + spear is *very* good against the in-game enemies. Invaders will eat you for breakfast, but you'll walk through monsters, because you can attack while guarding. Very beginner-friendly, and you'll encounter lots of quality spears without having to put much work into them.

Thanks. I'll still go into the graveyard then. I don't mind death as long as I can attain some skill, and, items/souls. I'll make sure to get some balder gear and check out a spear/shield combo.

IF you're splat running the catacombs, get a guide, and never stop running. The scythe is an amazin'balls weapon, and I tend to splat run new characters to grab it. Still get my ass kicked by invaders though.

I have already written a guide for myself to get the scythe easy. i just need to withstand the enemies and such along the way. I'd definitely sacrifice dying a few times and hollowing for it.

Oh, and get a weapon centered around dexterity. Dex weapons are pretty much the absolute best weapons in the game, bar none. Sure, strength weapons can output a lot of damage, but not only are most strength weapons slow as fuck(like, REALLY slow. Not even worth using), quite a few dex weapons can match their damage, and even do more with the right scaling choices.

That's why I'm getting the scythe. It's basically the best dex weapon in the game, from what I've read.
