Magic is naturally destructive in our world. If you pump magic through objects, they break. If you push it through yourself, you get magic poisoning. Everyone is born with some amount of mana that counteracts the destructive effects of magic.

Daemons are spirits of a world that I once visited. Smart creatures with an ability to destroy with ease. They all aim to be higher ranks and eventually become a Daemon Lord. They either possess other strong creatures or fight amongst themselves to rise in rank.
