@Aphelion I hear you, and it's been pretty much the same for me. :(
@Prints Avoid Yessir! I'm debating whether I want to make a more neutral addition as a "real" first post. There's just a lot of drama that I wanted to set up first. But I hope you enjoy it! :D
A man was shouting from atop a boulder along Route 116. A small crowd of curiosity and slight confusion had formed around him. They looked on with skepticism and slight bewilderment.
“This is a tragedy!” a woman responded as she clung to her small daughter as if to protect her from the poison of his words.
“What is the ‘tragedy,’ my dear woman?” he responded with a light-heartedness that didn’t fit the atmosphere. “Before all this technology, this is how life was. It was simpler and safer!”
“What’s safer?!” a man in a white coat shouted. “The Hospital is shut down and we have lost all real advancements we made in medicine!”
“Those ‘medicines’ keep the weak alive when nature should have claimed them to repurpose them.”
A low murmur of disbelief started to grow as he said this.
“We must rely on the earth for our own health. We must rely on our own bodies to keep strong in order to survive, as any organism must. These technological advancements cheapen the relationship between Pokemon and humans. We can heal them almost instantaneously and without consequence. Near-death of our friends and companions shouldn’t be treated with nonchalance.”
The strange man made sense.
“Still, medicine is all around us!” he continued, addressing the doctor more directly. “Nature has its own remedies to ailments and injuries. We look so far for treatments instead of simply looking down.”
He slid himself off the boulder and immersed himself into the small crowd. He touched the grass beneath them and dug his fingertips into the dark brown dirt underneath. “We still know so little about what nature has to offer,” he continued as he rose with a handful of grass and dirt. “There are so many wonders we’ve neglected for the sake of unnatural cures and technologies that tear us apart and cheapen the bonds we share.
Forrest - Route 102
The small campfire played with the shadows of those surrounding it and cast large silhouettes upon the nearby trees. A gentle breeze puffed through the orange air around them and rustled the Coaklea leaves which lovingly brushed themselves against each other. The warmth of the night wasn’t quite as comforting as the fire’s, and the flames created a light that the night would not produce.
Forrest’s hair lifted and pulled ever so slightly at his scalp. When it got into his left eye, he pulled it back behind his head and braided only some of its length. He knew the breeze wouldn’t be strong enough to undo the heavy weaving if he just sat still in front of the fire.
His large hands reached out to the fire as much as his elbows, which rested upon his knees, allowed. His back created a peaked mountain of muscles surrounding his shoulder blades. His sun-darkened skin looked brown in the dull orange of the fire. The shadows created by the peaks and valleys of his musculature seemed exaggerated.
Jeanne looked coyly at the large man, appreciating the long hours and hard work necessary to create such a visage. When Forrest pivoted his eyes to look at the woman, her own eyes studied the fire and twinkled from the flames and sparks shooting from it. The coils of brown from her head shone white and black in the firelight. Half of her chest was black from the shadows made from the convex nature of it. Her legs were crossed comfortably and she sat poised and straight as she kept an eye on their children.
The eldest, Jerrek, sat like his father. The 10-year-old’s small stature mocked the mass that was his father. The boy’s blue eyes pierced into the fire, ignoring his siblings and almost in a meditative state. And this, despite the fact Jerrek allowed a small Shelynn to rest upon his shoulder, showed a kind of intense focus on his surroundings.
The girl’s curly auburn hair looked ablaze at the fire. Her soft pale face was white in the light and her eyes, though closed, sparkled like her mother’s. The fair face would occasionally twitch or nuzzle at the boy’s bare forearm. Being only four, she was already tired and ready for bed. However, any attempts to bring her there would result in a soft protest that dissuaded anyone to disturb her comfort.
Elizabeth stroked Shelynn’s fiery hair, passing her fingers through the scorched springs. Elizabeth’s high spirit seemed to be calmed by that of her younger sister’s presence. She lost any desire to play with the fire or run around in the dark forest around them. She seemed to situate her hair in a manner akin to her demeanor. Though it was usually loose and wild, the dark brown strands were pulled back straight into a simple ponytail.
Rowan betrayed them all and lied on the ground rather than sat on a log like the rest of them. His mass of curly marbled-brown hair was a pillow for his head, and his hands rested between it and the ground. Like his brother and father, he wore no shirt and allowed the earth below him to caress his skin. He soaked up the magicks the earth had and his rounded chest rose and fell with his breathing.
Forrest lifted himself up, his stature no longer being disguised by hunching over while sitting close to the ground. His bare feet glided over the grass toward the pile of wood next to his wife.
“One more?” he whispered through the gravel which coated his throat.
Her eyes never strayed from the fire when she switched her legs to the left resting on the right.
“Sure,” she whispered back with the sweet honey which coated her own throat.
With one hand, Forrest grasped the largest branch, almost a foot in diameter, and slowly positioned it upon the dying fire as to prevent the creation of sparks and ashes to fly out and harm anyone around the fire.
“So, Dad,” Jerrek said in his boyish voice that he tried to force down so it’d be similar to his father’s. “What’s going on?”
The children knew something had occurred across Hoenn, but they weren’t being told anything. Jerrek didn’t want to be left in the dark, if only for the sake of protecting his family as if Forrest wasn’t their protector.
“We don’t know, hon,” he responded. The bass of his voice almost overwhelmed the softeness he tried to portray in his tone. “I guess they call themselves ‘Team Zodiac’ and they’re trying to rid the region of technologies and rehabilitate the relationships between Pokemon, humans, and the environment.”
The large man didn’t look over to his son; he just stared into the fire with focused brows that darkened the eye sockets on his face. The image of his bare skull could be seen from this lighting and angle.
“That wasn’t my question,” Jerrek said with a slight pout.
“You’re right,” Forrest said with a quiet chuckle that seemed to make the fire push through the air. “They’ve destroyed the Pokestations all over Hoenn. They’ve disabled the Sea Mauville Hydro Plant and cut off all power to Rustboro. The Hospital is nothing more than a field tent.”
“So injuries and sickness is harder to heal?” Jerrek asked.
“Correct.”
“What about battling?”
“That has been currently restricted by the Elite Four.”
“Oh…”
Valoria vs. Aries - Southern Island
The deep and winding labyrinth collapsed from the awful electrical explosions of Ampharos. The trees slowly seethed by Talonflame’s heat. And these two Pokemon were fending against six Pokemom each and holding their own. Aries had total control of the environment and knew her Pokemon well. But she knew her opponents as intimitately.
Talonflame was taking advantage of Caleb’s Pokemon’s typing. He only trained Fighting-types and Talonflame had the reach and speed to fly through them and soar away before getting smashed by his, admittedly, powerful Pokemon. The fire bird wasn’t doing much other than harassing them, but she had her true target in her sights.
Ampharos took her only advantage over Psychic-types, and that was inhibiting mental capacities with slight though focused shocks to the brain. Her own mind and those of her opponents were stilled or paralyzed by her skillful application of electricity. Valoria had never experienced an electric-type take advantage of nerve activity, which was the origin and power behind psychic abilities. It was something she overlooked in her training, and it seemed as if Aries knew this.
Caleb and Valoria had heard of a tip to explore Southern Island to learn more about Team Zodiac. They hadn’t expected to find that a single member, with only two Pokemon, could fend them both off without much issue. Valoria’s Alakazam determined it was a trap when they arrived, but it was too late. Aries was on a war-path. She was impassioned to expel from this world any threat to their cause. She was certainly effective in her role.
Lucario shot at the Talonflame, trying to lure her into an area where Pangoro or Conkeldurr could chuck anything they could to bring it to the ground. The others were relatively powerless, until Machamp decided to toss entire trees at the bird. He eventually landed a hit and the rest raced toward the bird in order to overwhelm and beat her to pulp. But she erupted in flames and took to the air once more.
Alakazam was completely paralyzed, there was nothing he could do with his mind or body. Chingling kept to Valoria’s side, trying to keep the thoughts of all her Pokemon and Caleb’s connected to her directly. Though it was two against twelve, she felt completely overwhelmed. Espeon was trying to recover its state and her mates’ conditions, but she could only keep up with Amapharos’ apparent strategy to merely incapacitate them all.
A huge explosion, larger than any from before, surrounded Caleb and his Pokemon. Valoria only noted the sudden silence of all their thoughts. “It was a combination of Brave Bird and Flare Blitz,” Chingling telepathized, saying no more in order to avoid upsetting her trainer any further.
Valoria’s eyes welled with water, but not a tear fell. “Bitch,” she whispered. Her nose twitched with a sneer. “Espeon, get her,” she growled.
Espeon’s eyes glowed and gazed into Aries’. The woman was lifted into the air a few feet and each of her limbs stretched wide. Espeon continued to pull, threatening to dislocate all of her joints at once. Aries just cackled and taunted them to kill her, knowing the girl wouldn’t be so ruthless and become a murderer herself. Beheeyem sped in front of Espeon with a Magic Coat which reflected a Thunder Wave directed toward her. It wouldn’t affect Ampharos, but Meowstic and Grumpig joined Beheeyem in protecting Espeon. Alakazam recovered himself and Disabled any kind of movement either Ampharos or Talonflame could perform.
Valoria whipped her head to her right. The grass had turned black and the trees were now piles of soot. It was an ocean’s coast of void without depth despite the shining sun. There was nothing except a grounded Talonflame seemingly unharmed yet exhausted. She cursed her inability to predict such a ruthless move, but then again, she predicted Team Zodiac would not add homicide to their list of crimes against Hoenn.
Aries began to screech as Espeon slowly pulled on her limbs. “You’ve failed,” Valoria growled through a sob.
She looked toward Chingling. He noticed her eyes were beets with onyx circles. Color waved and bubbled upon them against the sun. “Get us back home,” she ordered sternly.
Chingling began to cry himself. His body bobbed in a nod and the seven of them vanished in a white light. Aries was released and dropped to the ground without grace. She twisted her ankle and wrist and her entire body was sore. She then vomited, the mental torment Espeon performed before they teleported now taking effect on her body.
She looked up to where they had been only a moment ago and grinned viciously with vomit still trailing her chin.
“She’s right,” a male voice spoke from beyond the trees to her right. “You’ve failed.”
Pisces emerged from the trees that remained on the island. “And for that,” he continued, “you must be punished.”
His tone was even, almost apathetic. But it held a sinister air.
Sergeant Broadson - Route 105
”You all look like Wurple!” a voice shouted at men and women crawling through the sand. “Let’s pick it up, Rangers!”
Sergeant Broadson was harsh on the new recruits. Being of the Marine Division, however, meant they these Area Rangers needed to be tough, both mentally and physically. He watched them crawl into the crashing tide as they slipped into the waters of Route 105. “Let’s fucking pick it up!” he cursed at them. There was no visible signs of hustle, which was expected.
“Sergeant Broadson,” someone saluted behind him. “You’re requested at the base.”
The boy’s chest was held high with pride and nerves. “Take over, then, Corporal.”
He was surprised to see the Master General there. He was surrounded by other ranking officers. Sergeant Broadson deduced he was making rounds to all the bases. He knew what this meeting would be about.
The Master General was of average stature, but no shirt sleeves would ever fit those enormous arms of his. He often tore off sleeves to his shirts and never had the patience to visit a tailor. His western-style hat was also always on his head, stained and aged from the era when his own father had been a Grand General and wore the hat throughout his own lifetime.
“Ah, thank you for making it, Sergeant,” the Master General nearly shouted with a haughty chuckle. “Now I can let everyone know the plans.”
He rose from the Grand Colonel’s seat and walked around the desk littered with papers. “As you know, Team Zodiac is the number-one enemy of the region of Hoenn, currently. However, there have been Rangers who’ve sided with their cause. They have been seduced by the claims of this ‘Pisces’ stating that’s he’s merely enforcing what we’re ordered to protect. If there are those who sympathize with him, they will be discharged and dealt with accordingly.”
This meant much more than what he stated plainly. They would be imprisoned at the Rangers’ Headquarters until with the threat was dealt.
“I will not allow the desertion from the organization purposed with protecting Hoenn.” His face was completely stern, almost accusatory of each individual in the room. His tone was harsh and unapologetic. “The Fairfax Association is not the beginning of the downfall of Hoenn, and those who believe such have been manipulated and misinformed. See to it that traitors are rooted out and dealt with.”
Forrest vs. Mitchell - Route 103
Route 103 looked like a war zone. The turf was torn up which the fertile soil underneath the thick green grass. The few rocks and small boulders lying around had been tossed and smashed into rubble. Pokemon were fighting against each other while two men fought and wrestled each other. Explosions sounded from powerful attacks and cries were heard from far away when those attacks landed. And considering the current events, the Pokemon League would not be happy with this.
Aggron took Flygon’s point-blank Dragon Pulse with a Metal Armor he’d set up. The blue and green energy splashed away from Aggron and seared the ground in his immediate area. The energy was so intense and focused that it didn’t allow for the grass to erupt in flames. Flygon shot through his own attack and crashed into his opponent. Though Aggron was three times Flygon’s weight, he was still pushed back a few feet. Aggron disengaged by flinging the giant antlion into the air. Flygon Dragon Rushed back down and formed a small crater with Aggron in the middle. Aggron had performed a reversed Heavy Slam. It, somehow, perfectly countered the attack and he recovered, unfazed, by the impact. The earth around them flung up and away as they met for a bout of hand-to-hand wrestling. Flygon was determined to prove his inferior weight was not indicative of inferior strength.
Along the beach and grass by the bay was a display of beauty and grace rivalling that of nature itself. Masquerain performed a swirling Bubblebeam that turned into a fascinating vortex of color which arched over and down onto Roserade. The flowers from her hands erupted in rainbowed petals, matching the speed and form of the bubbles, perfectly countering the attack. However, the bubbles erupted in vibrations that bent the air around Roserade but wouldn’t disturb the grass under her feet. But as this occurred, thorny vines shot up and twisted around Masquerain. She was trapped in a Leech Seed of thick rooted vines and which thorns dug into her skin and sapped the life from her. From the outside, the vines had created a living sculpture of their creator, Roserade. But before the art could be admired for too long, the vines were sliced into fine grass-like shavings which were then whipped up into a cone of green and shot outward.
Within the forest just north of the Route, Ninjask swirled around the trunks of the large trees and through the branches that stretched up into the blue sky with white patches of puffs. Shiftry hid in the dark of the shade created by the leaves. His yellow eyes glowed bright, but were masked in two perfectly positioned gaps in the leaves where the sun shone the brightest. Ninjask sliced through any area his opponent may have hid but also worked on lessening the areas in which Shiftry could effectively hide. But Shiftry wasn’t reliant on hiding. He was waiting for the Ninjask to get close enough for him to strike hard and fast. Shiftry noticed the area immediately around him was cleared by the Ninjask’s attacks. The bug knew exactly where the Wicked was and was merely playing dumb. Shiftry shot down from the branch on which he was perched and into the bright sunlight. Ninjask’s speed had only increased as the time passed, but with Shiftry soaking up the sun, he was more than quick enough to respond to Ninjask’s claws outstretched and glowing a threatening red to erupt in leaves in which seeds were mixed. Though Ninjask could avoid any leaf in the storm, he couldn’t avoid the blasts from the Seed Bomb.
Breloom’s endurance was being tested on the beach as Sharpedo crashed into him with all the speed and power he could muster. Each time Breloom was knocked back a few yards while flinging Sharpedo back into the bay. Breloom had enough time to return to his spot in the sunken sand before Sharpedo shot out of the water and crashed into Breloom again. Each time they connected, a sonic boom was created and the sand around them continued to fly away, as if to escape the abuse.
Along the border of Route 103 and Oldale town, the image of a ghost appeared around a Crawdaunt. One couldn’t tell from observation, but Banette was slashing at Crawdaunt with a Shadow Claw each time she passed the crab with lowered opacity. Eventually, scratches could be seen to form along Crawdaunt’s shell, but only for a short time until he performed Withdraw. When Crawdaunt was knocked back by an impressive Shadow Force, by this Banette’s standards, he clamped down upon Banette’s leg, threatening to rip it from her body. She cried loud with a Screech and vibrated the immediate area, making Crawdaunt’s soft insides knock against his shell in a most unpleasant manner. He had to release his opponent in order to make the Screech cease. From his large and curved claws shot out powerful streams of water, covering the Banette and drowing her in a forceful torrent of a Hydro Pump. She disappeared again and shot out of the blast. The air around Crawdaunt grew dark despite the sky being cloudless. It began to warp and shift into shapes Crawdaunt couldn’t quite discern, instilling him with fear and a sense of terror that overwhelmed his mind.
Milotic and Manectric were thrashing out attacks against each other from a distance. Deep green-yellow sparks filled jets and waves of water that exploded and dispersed at their touch. The Milotic set up several measures of protection around itself. Its body significantly larger than most, but it moved with a grace few could rival. Manectric moved swiftly back and forth around the Milotic. He dodged attacks as effortlessly as he unleashed powerful sprays of electricity. Milotic just enjoyed the array of colors they created, together.
Huge bursts of sonic waves pushed through the area as an Exploud countered an opposing Cacturne. It seemed the Cacturne couldn't get close enough, but keen eyes would notice a thick Leech Seed bound around Exploud's feet. Cacture was barely close enough to have his Drain Punch at all effective, and the Ingrain at his own feet extended several yards to maintain freedom of movement. Exploud was testing Cacturne's endurance. Cacturne was learning how to effectively counter Exploud's techniques that simply overpowered the Cactus.
A Medicham simply hovered in the air, deep in meditation and stretching her mind to each and every Pokemon and human in the area. She tracked each battle and bout with her eyes closed and her mind clear. She heard each boom and blast. She felt each struggle and slash. She could smell the scents and odors from the upturned earth and sweating beasts. She could sense the fear, exhilaration, and anticipation. Though the sights of the current happenings could overwhelm anyone who tried to concentrate on it all, she was perfectly at peace. Eventually she would erect Light Screens and Reflects before stray attacks could reach her.
A Mightyena remained quiet and oblivious to the goings-on around her. She just groomed herself, taking her physical appearance to a priority higher than that of honing her skills to prepare for a battle that might never occur. She wouldn’t allow these bullies of Team Zodiac touch her pristine coat that shone beautifully with the sun.
But her trainer, and the trainer of the other half of the Pokemon, was wrestling. Forrest and Mitchell were tearing and wailing upon each other. Each trying to prove to the other that they could take punishment as well as they could provide it. They were drenched with sweat and every shade of red and blue. They were fighting just as hard as any of their Pokemon, but with infinitely less finesse and grace.

Family:
Jeanne Holt – Wife (26) Jerrek Warden – Son (10) Elizabeth Joy - Daughter (8) Rowan Edward - Son (6) Shelynn Raye - Daughter (4) Herbert Johnson - Father (50) Barbara Johnson - Mother (46)
NPCs of Possible Reference:
Mitchell Honnings – Childhood Friend (28)
He never knew his father and his mother died in labor. He was taken in by his grandmother, Henrette Honnings, and grew up as the Groundkeeper’s Grandson. He and Forrest were around each other since Forrest arrived in Oldale since Mrs. Honnings and the Johnsons seemed to become quick friends. Mit is much like Forrest’s counterbalance. Where Forrest is cold and calculating, Mit is warm and impulsive.
Caleb Rowes – Maternal Cousin (27) [Deceased]
Caleb’s relationship with Forrest is much like Mit’s, but tied through family. Consequently, Forrest, Cal, and Mit become some kind of foolishly unstoppable trio when they get together. Cal has the ruggedness of his cousin but the impulsiveness of his friend. He like to challenge both of them as much as possible to anything and everything. As much as he will talk smack to Forrest and Mit, there has never been a time when he abandoned either of them.
Valoria Johnson – Paternal Cousin (22)
Valoria is known for her crassness and vulgarity. Her mother, Emily Delisle, is frequently attempting to censor and correct her daughter to become more “ladylike.” She is a fierce battler and has beaten Forrest as much as lost to him. They often don’t battle, because of this, and it has become some kind of ceremony should they face each other. As harsh as she is, she is equally honest and genuine. Her emotions are on her sleeve and she can be quite difficult to handle at times.
Chesley Johnson – Paternal Cousin (20)
Chesley is one of the youngest among the Johnson-Herris family. Though he is days apart from two other boys, he’s always been closest to Forrest and, by extension, Caleb. Chesley is relatively meek and suffers from low self-esteem, but still finds a way to be cheerful and upbeat. Though he can quickly grow disheartened, he’s forever the optimist and is often seen as naïve. Forrest and Caleb go out of their way to protect and father Chesley, since his father, Harold, died when he was 14. However, there are times when Chesley has rescued the two from unnecessary situations in which they find themselves.
This was the last Pokemon Forrest obtained. He found a Meditite under some rubble while two Pokemon Trainers were battling nearby. Flygon and Breloom helped save her and she has a stronger connection with them than the others. Medicham is a surveyor more than anything. Her role is to communicate to her party-mates the current situation at large. Her Psychic and Fighting capabilities aren't proficient enough to cover or cross a field. When she is forced to fight, she takes the defensive and has unbelievable endurance, but her maneuvers are less damaging than the average Medicham.
Forrest noticed a Shuppet following him while he was ascending Mt. Pyre. It attempted to scare him a couple times, but always seemed to fail. Eventually it got frustrated enough with Forrest's dismissive attitude and instigated a battle. Once she saw how powerful the Trainer's Pokemon were, she couldn't help but see a greater path in life than her current one. It was also the first time someone didn't run away in fear at the sight of her. She is very aggressive and cocky. Once hit a couple times, she will get serious. But she enjoys attempting to frighten others, whether in a battle or not. But, it often comes off as goofy to the more-experienced. Still, she is physically strong and relatively quick. She always loses races with Shiftry, but can match him in power. She also relies on evasion and surprise more than brute strength.

Forrest met a curious Feebas while swimming with Mitchell along Route 119. She was quite smaller than most other Feebas around. It's mother, it seemed, was shunning her as well. Forrest took much pity toward the creature and capture her, knowing she'd find some worth in herself some day. And Forrest was correct. Milotic rivals Masquerain's contest abilities and has won as many contests as Masquerain. However, unlike Masquerain, Milotic enjoys battling and can easily lose herself in combat. Once she gets riled up enough, which takes much effort, she unleashes all she has and won't even listen to Forrest until she passes out. Her specialty lies in defense and support, but has wicked offensive capabilities. These offensive tendencies show themselves when she's lost herself and Forrest no longer has control of her, however.
As a Cacnea, he followed Forrest and Mitchell around Central Desert for quite some time. He noticed Forrests reluctance to capture the Trapinch and was just as determined to join the young man's team. Forrest just chuckled and tossed a Pokeball. He and Banette get along great and thoroughly enjoy attempting to frighten passers-by. Cacturne is Forrest's most versatile Pokemon and relies on unexpected attacks and certain attack combinations to overwhelm or surprise his opponents. He and Flygon have yet to lose a battle when working together. None of his skills are particularly amazing, but he lacks in nothing and can change strategies seamlessly.
With Trapinch's Arena Trap, Forrest and Nuzleaf were trapped in a battle with him. He proved to be more diligent and proud than either Forrest or Nuzleaf. When both wished to end the battle and pleaded with Trapinch to allow them to escape, he only shook his head and urged them to continue. Forrest just threw a Pokeball in response. He will always create a Sandstorm when beginning a battle since he knows to move through it well and attack from any angle where the opponent might be unaware. Outside of a Sandstorm, however, his speed is unremarkable. Like Shiftry and Banette, his forte is physical combat, but he knows how to use special maneuvers when pressed.
While camping in Petalburg Woods, a Shroomish started to rummage through Forrest's stuff. He tried to shoo it away, but it seemed more concerned about stealing than the fact it was stealing from a Pokemon trainer. He sent out Seedot and Surskit to work their Bubble Bide technique. Night after night Forrest would have to deal with this Shroomish until he was fed up enough to catch it. Breloom is the arguably the best, beside Shiftry, with physical offensive strength and, beside Medicham, physical endurance. He's not known to move quickly during battles, but he can counter almost any attack with one of his own. He's as competitive as Banette, but much more personal and reserved about it. When Forrest is asked to help train someone in physical offense or defense, he uses Breloom as an example. Breloom is too proud to perform any absorbing technique, not only because of his poor Special Attack, but because it compromises his endurance, or he thinks it does.
After a trainer had defeated a Seedot, Forrest saw it crying while a group of its friend attempted to heal it. He offered it an Oran Berry, which is hastily ate. After that, the Seedot followed him around everywhere until it ended up in a Pokeball. Shiftry combines his speed and accuracy to perform devastating physical blows. However, he's a glass cannon when it comes to combat. Like Breloom, he despises the idea of using Synthesis, but is much more likely to perform it when a battle begins to turn for the worse. Shiftry is one of Forrest's only Pokemon, other than Masquerain, that will concede before being beaten to a pulp. If he can't win by skill and perseverance, he's not going to martyr himself and become a punching bag.
Field Moves: Harden | Bide | Flail | Growth Default Moves: Fake Out | Feint Attack | Extrasensory | Theif | Fling | Sunny Day | Nasty Plot Standard Moves: Leaf Blade | Payback | Foul Play | Razor Leaf | Seed Bomb | Quick Attack Occasional Moves: Synthesis | Leaf Tornado | Leaf Storm | Extremespeed Sacrificial Moves: Dark Pulse
Forrest's mother was teaching a class about catching Pokemon on Route 103. During a lunch break, Forrest wandered into Route 102 without her knowing. He came across a wild Surskit. He snuck up behind it, knowing he didn't have a Pokemon of his own to weaken it, and threw the Pokeball he'd stolen off her desk. Now, they're inseparable. She is the only Pokemon that cares more for the aesthetics of performance than pure effectiveness. She's certainly developed highly effective methods, but if it doesn't look perfect in her eyes, she's quick to throw a fit. If a Pokemon disrupts her, she makes sure to punish them, and often with ten times the force. She takes pride in her beauty and wishes Forrest would perform in more Coordinator Competitions.
Field Moves: Sweet Scent | Gust | Tackle | Bubble Default Moves: Quiver Dance | Whirlwind | Quick Attack | Scary Face | String Shot | Rain Dance | Aqua Ring | Reflect | Light Screen | Agility | Double Team Standard Moves: Bug Buzz | Bubblebeam | Air Cutter | Air Slash | Aerial Ace | Signal Beam | Water Pulse | Aqua Jet Occasional Moves: Hydro Pump | Glare | Hurricane Sacrificial Moves: Water Spout
Franklin Broadson
Age: 36 History: He has referred to himself as "Broadson" since he made the ranks of the Marine Rangers at the age of 16. However, his parents have always called him "Frankie." None now dare to call him such, and most don't even know his first name. Sergeant Broadson is a man of driven purpose and deep determination. Frankie is a boy who worked as a fisherman's son and who knew joy and freedom.
Franklin Broadson was born during the Wet Season on the island of Dewford. His parents, Martin and Theresa, were subsistence farmers. Martin worked the small dinghies and nets while Theresa perfected her needlework and tailoring. Franklin never had fashionable clothes, but they were always handmade by his mother. They were usually highly practical with helping his father upon the shores catching Remoraid, Finneon, Goldeen, Corphish, Krabby, and Clauncher.
Broadson is the eldest of three. His sister, Asurelia, was born just a year after himself. His youngest sister was born two years later as Melioda. Melioda looked up to Frankie and depended on him for the smallest of tasks. Asurelia was fascinated with the sea and took much more after her father than Broadson even did.
He had little schooling and never pursued training. He believed his place was at home to help provide for his family. They weren't in poverty, managing to trade for what they needed, but they never had the fancy gadgets of the Fairfax Association. There was never any strong envy of others. It was more of a disappointment that his experiences were stunted due to his responsibilities even as a small child.
He was reluctant to leave his family when the Rangers discovered his athleticism and diligence along the shore of Dewford. His parents urged him to pursue something other than what little they could provide for him. They knew he wanted adventure, or just something more than the life of a subsistence farmer.
He was 12 at the time, the youngest the Rangers had recruited at the time. He even trained with the other Marine Rangers, despite only being a student. It was clear his talents were in physical ability rather than mental. They accepted this but pushed him to improve his studies to round out his abilities and immense usefulness to the Rangers as a whole.
At 16, he was promoted to Corporal, skipping the rank of Area Ranger. Though still a cadet in most Rangers' eyes, he was proficient in his training and effective on each mission on which he was dispatched. However, his "successes" didn't come without immense hardship. His body is now literally scarred from these missions that were above his age and experience. The Grand Colonel was eyeing this boy to be his successor, however.
After ten long years of, what seemed to be, trial and error, he was finally promoted to the rank of Sergeant, where he is currently. And though he's always been stationed on Dewford, since that is where the Marine Base resides, Broadson doesn't spend much, if any, time at home. Because he takes his job so seriously, he believes that the work of a Ranger comes before any individual since their aim is to protect the well-being of all.
He usually only gained the cooperation of a Pokemon during missions. A Tirtouga ended up remaining by his side after a particularly difficult mission in Mossdeep City and Shoal Cave. They became inseparable after a bout against Sealeo and Walrein who were destroying the ecosystem of the area.

Credit: @Aphelion@Loony Rangers are an independent organization of the Pokemon League (Gym Leaders and the Elite Four). They are the police force of the world and protect Pokemon and the environment. In states of emergency, they would act in cooperation with the Pokemon League but would remain their own entity. In some cases, they could even recruit the Pokemon League to lead missions in order to protect the region in which they are stationed.
They only keep one Pokemon as their partner, but there are always exceptions to this, but only for unusual and rare cases.
Initial Ranks: Student - Those who have yet to pass the initial training. Area - Those who have passed the initial training.
When appointed to the rank of Area Ranger, the individual learns the basics of each Division. The Ranking Officers take into account the individual's talents and skills and also their opinion when deciding which Division in which to place them.
Land Rangers make up the bulk of the whole Ranger Organization. They specialize in forests and grasslands. However, they may be deployed to any terrain should the Ranger be skilled enough and the mission calls for such a decision. Their partners typically have the most diverse typing. Land Rangers have created sub-division colloquialisms to further distinguish themselves from one another. Ranks: Lieutenant - Major - General Hoenn Headquarters: Rustboro City
Sea Rangers work both on and under the open oceans as well as large lakes and rivers. Their partners are usually confined to the sea. They have special gear that allows them to swim deep underwater with their partners and have almost no hindrances in extreme depths. Ranks: Captain - Commander - Admiral Hoenn Base: Pacifidlog Town
Air Rangers work high above the lands. They are usually deployed for recon and intelligence-gathering, but there are few that specialize in neutralizing threats. Their partners are usually not very effective on the ground. These Rangers also have special gear to allow them to soar into altitudes unforgiving of humans. Ranks: Keeper - Sentinel - Watcher Hoenn Base: Fortree City
Marine Rangers, colloquially titled as "mudders" by other divisions, work the seacoasts. Their missions are usually reactionary for Sea and/or Land Rangers. Their partners are usually amphibious or have great use both in the sea and on land. Because of the nature of their missions, Marine Rangers are trained with greater physical intensity than other divisions. Ranks: Corporal - Sergeant - Colonel Hoenn Base: Dewford Town
Zephyr Rangers are stationed in the skies over the sea. Their partners can alight onto the water and provide assistance to both the Sea and Air divisions. They specialize in tactics and adaptability and are trained in more intellectual means of preservation. Ranks: Ensign - Bulwark - Conserve Hoenn Base: Sootopolis City
Gale Rangers work between the land and the skies above. They are usually found upon mountains, flying across deserts and above forests. They are second in physical capabilities, after Marines, and specialize in hitting hard and escaping quickly. This division is the least populous and most have partners of the Dragon typing. Ranks: Sentry - Chief - Warden Hoenn Base: Lavaridge Town/Mt. Chimney
Within each region, only five individuals may hold the title of the highest of each rank at any one time. There is only a single "Grand" of each division, which is elected from the existing highest-ranking officers. The Grand may promote any from the second-highest to the highest rank when one retires or dies.
Each "Grand" of a region then votes with the others of the other divisions to promote one of them to "Master." This Master keeps their position title but also acts as the representative of all Rangers within that particular region.
For example: There are five Generals. These five General then elect, from among themselves, a Grand General. This Grand General then promotes an existing Major to maintain the number of five Generals. If, at any point, an existing General dies or retires, the Grand General then elects an existing Major to fill the vacant position. If, at any point, an existing Grand General dies or retires, the existing Generals then elect a Grand General from among themselves. This is consistent within all Divisions.
The Grand General, Admiral, Watcher, Colonel, Conserve, and Warden elect, from amongst themselves, a Master to represent the whole of their region's Rangers. If the Grand General is elected this position, his title would change to Master General, and thus be referred to as such by all other Rangers across all ranks and divisions.
In a state of emergency, the Master General, in this case, would be able to assume command of all divisions. Otherwise, they are merely an ambassador and representative.
The Master General can also be impeached, or forced to resign, by a unanimous vote of all the current Grands of that region. Grands can be impeached, or forced to resign, by a unanimous vote of all the current highest ranking officers of that particular division.
A foul mouthed, ill tempered woman who likes to call people “sweetie” and “darling” while she lashes them with harsh words. She is extremely protective of the Hoenn Rangers and dislikes any foreign interference in her region. Her Pokemon is a Shiny Arcanine.
Sergeant Franklin Broadson [Phoenix] -Kalos- Lieutenant Holly Bright [Aphelion]
A bubbly and intelligent young woman who is an atypical candidate for being a Land Ranger. She loves technology and is personally on this mission in order to restore tech to Hoenn in any way she can. She can get disheartened if things don't go her way. Her role in group is more superfluous, but she and her Metagross are more than capable of holding their own in battle. Pokemon: Metagross
Captain Lain Ickeringill [Aphelion]
A very single minded man who only has eyes for the ocean. He can get quickly riled up to anger, but is somewhat of a coward when facing confrontation. He prefers to think about his battles before engaging in them. When in battle, he is the group's “control”, or support, and he uses his Cloyster to the best of her abilities. Pokemon: Cloyster
Grand Watcher Argenta Lambert [Aphelion]
Age: 34 Argenta Lambert is young for a Grand Watcher, but makes up for her age with her passion for her work. She is rather serious and focused. However, she cares deeply for her Rangers. It was she who implored Zachary Moreau to give Eloise the special task of finding one of her missing Rangers, Erik Falston.
Keeper Virgil Moon [Aphelion]
Virgil can appreciate anything he finds beautiful, whether that is a person, a Pokemon, or something he has found in nature. His shy personality is hard to get through at first, but underneath all that shyness is a sassy individual. He is known for being somewhat crude and dark when he's comfortable with the people he's around. He acts as the group's camper, scanner, and recon along with his Noctowl. Pokemon: Noctowl
Keeper Erik Falston [Aphelion]
Erik Falston is a ladies man who is quick to laugh and joke, and he oozes charm. He joined the Rangers to escape his corrupt rich family and was constantly ragged on by the other Rangers for "being a rich boy" during his initial training period as a Student. Eloise Fenmar was the only one who ignored his background and became friends with him during that time, for which he has been eternally grateful. Upon graduating to an Area Ranger, however, he began to make a plethora of friends, but he and Eloise remained very close. He was sent out on a mission to scout Hoenn and survey the situation with Team Zodiac but has been missing since.
Master Conserve Claudia Linne [Aphelion]
Age: 71 Claudia Linne is a very calculating and intelligent woman with no room for dilly-dallying, and doesn't appreciate anyone, or anything, that wastes her time. She is usually seen as prim and proper, but those who know her know she has a wicked sense of humor underneath her straight-laced exterior.
Ensign Hughes Campbell [Aphelion]
Hughes is a vulgar man who likes to self-medicate with booze, smokes, or food and is rarely seen without one of the three at hand. He takes the lead on situations and the others in the group follow him, more or less. He is extremely fit and likes to flaunt that fact at every available moment – he's your typical jock mentality. He and his Swanna act as the group's “wall” in battle, soaking damage or preventing it from reaching their teammates. Pokemon: Swanna
Grand Warden Zachary Moreau [Aphelion]
Age: 45 Zachary Moreau is a man of intimidating stature. but, after the initial shock of meeting him, people realize that he's rather easy going, all things considered. He springs into action at the opportune times, and keeps the respect of his lower ranked officers by action rather than words. He is known to be in good-standing with Grand Watcher Argenta Lambert.
Being the head of the industries of the Fairfax Association meant that Joseph was always too busy to spend time with his children when they were growing up. He is a proud and traditional man who is known to work particularly hard at striving for perfection. Since birth, Joseph was the heir apparent to the Fairfax Association and was treated as such; he was taught from the most well-known and highly rated scholars. It didn't take long before he was ready to assume his role as President of Fairfax Association. Keeping the Fairfax family on the forefront of technology has been easy for Joseph up until Zodiac arrived. Threatening to undo over a hundred years of his family's hard work, he's going to show this gang of ne'er-do-wells precisely what happens to people who stand in the way of the Fairfaxes.
He is a large and imposing man. When Joseph speaks, men have a tendency to listen and fall in line. Though many years of leadership have taken their toll on the old man, he still appears spritely and powerful. His hair is beginning to grey and he is always clean shaven. He always wears a smart suit, usually in a dark blue or black with an accompanying royal blue or crimson red tie. He also wears thick, horn-rimmed glasses that are black in colour.
Joseph could go from having the most joyous expression in his eye to making men cower in a single, stern look. Joseph worked his hardest and expected the same from his workers. He wasn't above exploding at one or two of them if they weren't up for getting their hands dirty. And through the early years of his Fairfax reign, Joseph got in his fair share of fights.
Marilda Fairfax
A calculating and scheming work partner. A protective and loving mother. Despite all of her husband's knowledge and power, the Fairfax family wouldn't be what it was today if it wasn't for Marilda. When Joseph would be pushing his inventors and tinkerers harder and striving for perfection amongst his products, Marilda would ensure that any ambitious families that desired power beyond their means were quickly reminded who's truly in control of Hoenn's industry.
Marilda never gets her hands dirty. She only needs to say the word and one of her servants will carry word to her husband. Before long, whatever's troubling the self-appointed queen of Fairfax will no longer be a concern. This meant she always had plenty of time for her children as they grew up, and, for all the time they missed with their father, Marilda would be there.
Marilda is a petite thing who, unlike her husband, has aged well and is always complimented on how youthful and beautiful she looks for her age. She has beaming blue eyes that entice anyone she meets to open up to her. Also unlike her husband, Marilda has a good sense of fashion and loves keeping up with the industry. Often sporting bright and flashy colours, she likes grandiose. Her auburn hair is often shaped in the wackiest style the fashion world will allow and she loves to wear silver jewelry, lots and lots of silver jewelry.
Joseph Fairfax IV
Eldest son. Reincarnate of Joseph, minus the supreme intelligence. "Joseph Junior" (Jo-Ju), or Joey as his brothers call him, was also groomed to be the Fairfax successor as he was growing up, just like his father. Unlike his predecessor, though, Joey never seemed to have a moment of genius or great command of the workers.
All he cares about is his father's approval. And although he's not the bluntest tool in the shed, Joey is pretty easy to manipulate to people who know of his need to make his father proud. He fights for what he believes are his father's ideals, and, although he's usually right, he has felt the wrath of his father on more than one occasion (usually for his strategy, or lack thereof).
He has inherited his father's size on the other hand. Often wearing smart-casual, Joey himself is torn between his father's super slick, business-man style and his brother's, Maxwell, super casual, laid back style. Like his father, Joey looked as though he belonged in a bar fight. A wonky nose and devilish eyes, that, with a stare could make even the terrifying Haunter think twice about crossing him. Ears that stick out a little too much and an overwhelming lack of symmetry between all aforementioned features creates a curious portrait between himself and his father.
Maxwell Fairfax II
The second son, intelligent, fiery. He was named after his great-great grandfather. Some joke that Maxwell stole Joey's intelligence in the womb. The second son was twice as bright and loved to fight. Max is typically more reserved and especially more judgmental of others than his two brothers (he doesn't consider Jonton a brother). Often refusing to battle with those he doesn't deem worthy, his quietly confident persona can get nasty pretty quick.
Maxwell has a slightly larger than average build, but, for the most part, looks the size of a normal person. He is fair like his mother, having inherited her red hair and blue eyes, the eyes for fashion. To his brothers, Maxwell is the lucky one who got all the good genes. He wears whatever he likes and makes it look great. Max wears his hair however he likes and looks great and even gets everyone to listen to him... While looking great.
Jonton Fairfax
The bastard son of Joseph Fairfax, vengeful and cruel. People theorise about what sort of beast made Joseph III forget his vows at Slateport all those years ago. Jonton was near double the size of his siblings despite being many years younger. Also, unlike his half brothers, Jonton was particularly ugly. These things combined often lead to him being the odd one out, and his older brothers would always be quick to let him know it. Disappeared from Rustboro at the age of nineteen to start his own association, except unlike Fairfax Industries, this venture wouldn't be legitimate and would have only one goal: the destruction of the Fairfax family and the seizure of their land and goods.
Jonton is grotesquely ugly when compared to his legitimate brothers. He has a thin, curved scar running from his right eye to beneath his chin. He shaves his head bald, including his eyebrows. He is twice the size of most men and has all of his father's wonky facial features. He also wears a smart suit in mockery of his father, even when he's doing dirty work.
Hartwin Fairfax
Always described as a giving, considerate, well-natured man, the youngest of the Fairfax brood also happened to be the easiest to get along with. Hartwin detested his older brothers' constant bullying of Jonton but always felt powerless to stop it, until it was too late and Jonton had left. This regret caused Hartwin to promise himself that he would become a great Pokemon trainer. However, always being left with the mundane work that his brothers didn't want to do meant that Hartwin never had the time to fulfill the promise. With a deep underlying regret for not being the man he set out to be, Hartwin always loves a good underdog story and keeps happy through the accomplishments of others.
Just your typical average joe. Hartwin the Average. Pretty ugly, dull brown hair with no facial hair. Wears glasses with circle rims and smokes cigars a lot. Has the respect of workers as opposed to their fear. He has a bald patch on the back of his head and so has taken to wearing a wide-brimmed bowler hat and usually wears a shoddy suit of brown or grey.

Kalos
Credit: @Aphelion Kalos Map Notes This list is up for editing/collaboration as necessary.
Frost Cavern In the last three years the caverns have become dangerous terrain for people and Pokemon. Collapsed tunnels have caused the deepest parts of the cavern to be entirely inaccessible. However rumors have begun that people have seen strange illusions and lights as they navigate as far as humanly possible into the cavern before they are forced to turn back.
Aegisholme A city created by @Aphelion A remote castle-city located in the mountains near Frost Cavern. It is overseen by the Council of Five. It's coat of arms is an Aegislash's shield with a Doublade crossing in front of it. The residents of the city live a simpler lifestyle than those of other people in Kalos, and thrive on medieval practices such as swordplay, jousting, and chivalry. Pokemon that are kept most frequently in the city are the Honedge evolutionary line, which is the most popular, Ice, Fire, and other Ghost type Pokemon.
Dendemille Town Since the move of the Ranger Headquarters into the nearby Lost Hotel, Dendemille Town has grown quite a lot from the Ranger's patronage as well as the steady influx of tourists coming through. This increase in population has given Dendemille Town several new features, including a Battle Arena that the local Rangers frequent to spar with each other, and with locals or tourists, for fun and practice.
Kalos Culture Notes The Kalosian language is a lilting and sensual sounding language which is pleasing to the ears. It's speakers tend to have higher pitched voices, including the men. In relation to Earth's languages, it is a mixture of French, Spanish, and Italian. The residents of Kalos tend to appreciate beauty and diligence, and are usually quite welcoming.
Kalos Ranger Information In Kalos, the Rangers are a highly respected and even expected entity that polices the land regularly to ensure the safety of those within. Their presence in Kalos has made the region's actual police force into something of a joke, and typically only those who fail their Ranger Training join the regular task force. Their gain in power and influence within Kalos is due to the current Master Conserve.
The Ranger Headquarters were located in Camphrier Town for the longest time. Three years ago, they seized the Lost Hotel and have made it their current Ranger Headquarters. Nobody knows for sure why they made such a drastic change, but residents of Dendemille Town appreciate the Rangers chasing off the ruffians who used to congregate there.
Current Officers (PC and NPC)
Master Conserve Claudia Linne (NPC)
Age: 71 Claudia Linne is a very calculating and intelligent woman with no room for dilly-dallying, and doesn't appreciate anyone, or anything, that wastes her time. She is usually seen as prim and proper, but those who know her know she has a wicked sense of humor underneath her straight-laced exterior.
Grand Warden Zachary Moreau (NPC)

The Hoenn in this RP will be an Alternate Universe to that of the game, anime, and manga.
Natural sources of energy (wind, hydro, compression, heat, etc.) are gathered to power all of Hoenn. Mauville City oversees all collections and distributions of energy but also reports to the Fairfax Association. This allows all of Hoenn to be largely pollution-free.
The culture of this RP’s version of Hoenn will be considered liberal (socially, sexually, morally, whatever.). Most believe technology and nature can work together in harmony and that if technology negatively impacts nature, it does not belong. Consider this the baseline for your character’s involvement/opinion/role in this RP.
There are 18 Gyms, one of each type. The Gyms do not reside in the same places as the game/anime and they do not reside only in towns or cities. All 18 badges are required to challenge the Elite Four, which are stationed on Victory Road. The Pokemon League is where the Championship takes place, which is held in the summer each year. Participants are only required to have "successfully" defeated their region's Elite Four to compete in Hoenn’s Championship.
Mega Evolution has not yet been discovered, though there may be those investigating the possibility of Mega Evolution. I'd like to explore this mechanic throughout the RP where appropriate.
There is no maximum to the number of Pokemon to which an individual has immediate access. All are stored in one’s Gauntlet or carried on their person (should they not wish to have a gauntlet). There is no PC system and trading is performed by hand.
You may create any type of character you wish, there is no restriction (this includes age, occupation (Gym Leader, Scientist, Breeder, etc.), race, nationality, or even religion). Whether they interact with Pokemon is up to you. I only ask you keep in mind that there is intent to interact with the plot (which will be introduced ICly when the time comes).
The nature of this RP will work like a D&D campaign mixed with Sandbox. No two characters are required to interact with each other. You may decide to start the RP together or meet at a designated location along the way. I, as the GM, will be interacting with each player individually, however. I will introduce NPCs and plot points. I might guide certain characters together, but you all decide how your own story plays out, ultimately. I encourage collaboration (privately or publicly is fine) with each other as well as with me.
Rules
- No God-modding, power-playing, meta-gaming, etc. etc. - There is no minimum or maximum post length. However, it must add to your plot or the plot of others should you be interacting with other players. - Please be conscious of grammar. Ironically, my reading comprehension is lower than average and good grammar will help things along tremendously. - Criticism, from all parties, should be constructive and respectful. Over PM is always best. - Character Sheets should be PM'd to me before posting in the Character Tab. I do not want to see CSs in the OOC. I do not want to see WIPs anywhere in the thread. Make a PM for yourself to work on or send the WIP to me and I'll help you finish it if you have concerns/questions/etc. - There is no limit to the number of characters you may employ. However, if issues occur, you will be asked to let any number of them go. - Posting will be once after each of my own posts. Exceptions to this rule may occur. - This list may change.
Noteable Technologies
Trainer Gauntlet
This light metallic devise wraps around the user's forearm when a Gym Leader or Professor acknowledges you have obtained your first legitimate Pokemon (ultimately up to the individual). The touch screen wraps around the arm and does not glare from the sun and cannot be scratched or smudged. It is fully waterproof and virtually indestructible. It comes in a variety of basic colors. They can materialize stored items, including but not limited to money, berries, Pokeballs, and bicycles.
Standard Applications
Pokedex Pokemon Encyclopedia Map/GPS Pokemon Storage/Trading Bank Item Storage
Applications for Purchase
Training System Pokemon Rentals Customized Skins
PokeStations
These have replaced Pokemon Centers and Marts. They connect with the Trainer's Gauntlet to heal Pokemon and make purchases that will be digitally transferred from the station to the Gauntlet. They are unmanned and about the area of a phone booth but half the height and open. They are completely weatherproof.
As per the current situation, these are no longer able to be used. The only hospital in the region is now only a clinic and this is largely the reason why battling has been effectively banned by the Elite Four and Gym Leaders. The fact that the Pokestation are destroyed and offline will play a huge impact in everyone's personal lives and this should be reflected in the IC.
Hoenn Map Notes
Professor Fir's Laboratory Littleroot Town
Prof. Fir studies the behaviors of Pokemon and their relationship with humans and the environment. He has been a large part of the technological advancements seen throughout Hoenn and lead several efforts to develop and sustain the renewable energy being used across the region. He and his associates perform fieldwork, whether literally in the field or at sanctioned events, such as Gym Battles and the Pokemon Championship, to observe and analyze the relations between humans and Pokemon. Some show greater interest in foreigners' relations while others keep tabs on the natives' relationships. Prof. Fir, specifically, prefers focusing on the interactions between Pokemon and the environment as well as humans and the environment.
Johnson Academy Oldale Town
Barbara Johnson founded this now prestigious institute where trainers from across the region begin their training as well as holding specialized classes for Advanced Trainers where members of the Elite Four and Gym Leaders personally reveal their secrets, expound on their personal philosophies, as well as teach others the finer points of battling, contests, and relationships between Pokemon and Trainer.
Briney Marina Route 104 S
Founded by Mr. Briney, his legacy lives on with the marinas made in his name. Briney Marina and Dewford Marina are known for their oceanic explorations beyond Hoenn. They have been the front-runners for discovering ways in which to harness hydro energy without negatively impacting the environment.
Aromatherapy Route 104 N
Gabriella McDarby, her sisters, and their mothers and grandmothers have kept this little shop running for more than 100 years. They are the leaders in growing and harvesting berries and know everything there is to know about the medicinal properties of said berries. They have learned how to cross-pollinate which berries for the best results. Now, with the Pokestations rendered useless, they are the go-to for injured Pokemon and humans, next to Lavaridge Medical Centre.
Fairfax Corporation (Institute and Hospital) Rustboro City
Jackson Fairfax III is the great-grandson of Jackson Fairfax I, who founded the corporation to find and establish sources of renewable energy and the best ways in which to contain them. Fairfax III founded the Hospital and Institute in the hopes to continue the progress his fore-fathers began. With the city out of power and their land being held hostage by Team Zodiac, their efforts have been halted.
Pokemon Ranger Headquarters Rustboro City
More or less the center of law enforcement, the Pokemon Rangers are the peace-keepers and executive branch of Hoenn. Commander Richard Hardy currently runs this establishment and is known for his harsh training regiment for his officers.
Dewford Marina Dewford Town
This marina is the sister to Briney Marina on Route 104 S. They are kept up and further developed by the same team of architects and sailors.
Sea Mauville Hydro Plant Sea Mauville (Route 108)
Sea Mauville was first created as a marine Biology Center, later recreated in Slateport City. Eventually, with the help of Joseph Fairfax I, they began to develop an efficient manner in which to harness energy from the currents deep below them. They were the leaders of hydro energy before Team Zodiac sabotaged their Plant.
Center for Marine Biology Slateport City
The Center for Marine Biology was founded by Nina Ridgeworth when she was reassigned from Sea Mauville itself. Her family has kept this center running and is currently overseen by Crester Goldenrod.
Slateport Marketplace Slateport City
Independent vendors from across Hoenn, and a few from beyond, flock to Slateport for the free and open trade marketplace established there before historical records can accurately determine.
Coordination Auditorium Slateport City, Fallarbor Town, Verdanturf Town, Lilycove City
These Auditoriums hold grand festivals and competitions for Coordinators across Hoenn. The Pokemon League opens to Coordinators in the Autumn every 3 years to test the best of the best from across the globe.
New Mauville Route 110
New Mauville was founded by Victor Coley who worked alongside Mr. Fairfax I to develop a manner in which to harness the massive amount of static electricity discovered underground. The levels of energy are as high as ever and special converters are utilized to store energy from Sea Mauville and the Ener-Geo Corporation. All energy in Hoenn is distributed from this location.
Ener-Geo Corporation Mt. Chimney
With Mt. Chimney forever seething under the surface. Joseph Fairfax II decided to take advantage of the intense heat rising from the planet's core. His entire life was dedicated to the founding and maintaining of th Ener-Geo Corporation.
Lavaridge Bath & Spa Lavaridge Town
Locals swear by the Baths of Lavaridge as a place for rejuvenation and spiritual healing. Most egg-hatching also occurs here to breeders stretching across the oceans.
Lavaridge Medical Centre Lavaridge Town
The Pokestations and Fairfax Hospital are shut down. Lavaridge Medical Centre, though centered around Herbology and other holistic medicinal practices, is still not very popular despite the attacks against Hoenn. Still, the clinic is often crowded.
Pokemon Day-Care Route 117
Young trainers visit the Pokemon Day-Care to learn the basics of Pokemon Training. Novice Breeders use the place to learn the practice. Other times, Pokemon are left here when Trainers or Coordinators take long trips or pass away.
Weather Institute Route 119
The Weather Institute monitors the weather conditions throughout Hoenn. They also monitor the levels of energy produced and distributed by Sea Mauville, New Mauville, and the Ener-Geo Corporation.
Lilycove Megamall Lilycove City
The seven-story shopping mall draws tourists from all over the world. This is often the first location where most foreigners are brought when entering Hoenn. Anything and everything any Trainer, Coordinator, Gym Leader, Elite Four member, Scientist, and anyone else could ever need.
Hoenn Art Institute Lilycove City
From eclectic to tradition and contemporary to abstract, artists spend their lives trying to have at least a single piece of their work to be on display here. Writers, animators, painters, sculptors, musicians, and any other kind of artist usually come here for inspiration, practice, consultation, practice, or simply to browse.
Lilycove Harbor Lilycove City
Lilycove Harbor is the immigration center for Hoenn. All those arriving from other regions begin their journey in Hoenn here. Where they go from here is up to the individual.
Pacifidlog Mills Pacifidlog Town
The windmills scattered throughout the shallow waters of Pacifidlog Town are used to power the minor islands of Hoenn, from Slateport to Sootopolis to Mossdeep to Evergrande. Fairfax III developed this early into his career and was the stepping-stone to his current success.
Petalburg City Gym
Robert Holt is the leader of the Petalburg Gym. He specializes in Grass types and looks for grace and tranquility in Pokemon trainers challenging for his Gym Badge. There must be a sense of calm in the face of defeat. There must be a positive in defeat. Life isn't full of success, and finding the silver lining in loss and failure is what Mr. Holt believes will develop a skillful trainer. Those are the ones that earn the Chloryph Badge
Petalburg Woods Gym
Violet Dandelion runs a Pokemon Gym in the heart of Petalburg Woods. She specializes in Bug-type Pokemon and looks for confidence in her opponents that isn't misplaced. Boastfulness is not pride, condescension is not honor. A sense of respect for those lower or weaker than yourself is what earns one the Chitin Badge.
Pokemon Mechanics
Pokemon can know and use any number of moves. They are not restricted by the game mechanics, canon from the anime or manga or any other forum. However, there will be other restrictions.
Moves must align with the Pokemon’s type and species (Starmie cannot know Thunderbolt or Gyro Ball, but can know Water Spout and Extrasensory. Bisharp can learn moves like X-Scissor and Guillotine, etc.).
TM’s and HM’s don’t exist. Teaching/Tutoring/etc. is enough to teach a Pokemon a new move, but it takes time.
Waterfall/Rock Smash/Cut/etc. are literally field moves. Surf does not create a tidal wave. Fly does not crash into the opponent. Strength does not throw the opponent around. Either other maneuvers should be utilized or new moves can be created for the same in-game effect.
Moves may be combined, but their power/effectiveness does not stack or add onto each other. They meld together to an average between the two.
Pokemon will perform the same move differently. One Butterfree uses Double Team and creates 3 free-moving forms. Another Butterfree uses Double Team and creates 20 mirror images that imitates the real one. As per this example, make sure to make maneuvers scale in ability to a reasonable level. However, this level will differ when certain techniques are trained to become more superior than the average.
Abilities are not limited to the games' discretion. The Ability should match the species/type of the Pokemon and Abilities of Legendary Pokemon are off-limits.
Pokemon have their own strategies and techniques upon which they rely. One Butterfree uses more passive/defensive methods and has a strong Light Screen, Poison Powder, Sleep Powder, and Stun Spore but has a below-average Bug Buzz, Silver Wind, and Aerial Ace. Another Butterfree can be the opposite, with above-average offense and below-average defense. Keep this in mind when creating your Pokemon.
Battle is real-time. Stats are largely irrelevant (no Pokemon is held to a max or min of any stat). Typing is somewhat irrelevant (any type can learn to withstand any weakness, but this must come at a cost). Of course, where a Pokemon exceeds others, there must be areas where they do not meet the standard. Feel free to min-max as much as you want. There will be no mention of stats in this RP, however.
Winning a battle is not always determined by knocking out the opponent. There are skills and behaviors between Pokemon and trainer which may be judged when considering a victor or deciding whether a badge has been earned. Example: The Gym Leader of Petalburg looks for grace with precision in both the trainer and their Pokemon. Perhaps the challenger's Pokemon are knocked-out, but they are awarded the badge because they showed precise grace. Perhaps the challenger completely overpowered the Gym Leader, but they are not awarded the badge because they did not exhibit precise grace. The expectations of the Gym Leaders may range from utilizing a specific move, utilizing a specific type or species of Pokemon. This may not be consistent with all challengers or the expectations may shift slightly or be thrown out all together as it is completely up to the discretion of the Gym Leader.
Pseudo-legendary Pokemon will be restricted and Legendary Pokemon are off-limits.
Pokemon may have and additional type added to their species. They may also have types omitted. This goes for Pokemon moves, as well. This is largely for the sake of flavor.
Character Sheet Reference
Name: Aliases, nicknames, former names, preferred names, etc. Age: No restrictions. Regardless, they must be played accurately or have a reason to go against the "norm" and is to be described in the section below. History: Personality should be built within this. If you cannot determine personality from the history, then you have not developed your character enough. If your character does not have their own goal/dream to realize, then you have not developed your character enough. There is no minimum to the length of this section. Party: Describe, in short, what each Pokemon's general behavior/personality is like. What are their tactics in battle or how does the character utilize the Pokemon in battle? Relations with other party members is also a plus, but not required in this section. Please refer to the Pokemon Mechanics section for further information as to the Movesets.
So, I've just been spending today looking and applying to everything I think I can get (while still being a step up or, at least, sideways). I'll be available all day tomorrow, though.
I'm going to try to make some progress on getting the first IC post up so you can all have an idea of (and hopefully get excited for) what will be in store for this RP. ^^
Sorry for the delays (not that I haven't seen all of you delay xP heh)
Hey, don't worry about it. I'll let you know if anything's out of place out anything.
And I'm impressed with your dedication to exceed dyslexia. My girlfriend has dyslexia and my own reading skills are pretty poor (though that might just be me). So I totally understand from where you're coming. ^^
As for the history: as long as everything is there that you think needs to be there, you're fine. It can be all bullets and cliff notes for all I care. xP But I'll certainly provide feedback! :D And, from what I can tell, your writing level is fine. ^^
@Prints AvoidDon't worry about it. I'd like to be able to get things ready so we can have a quick start when everything's ready, but my emotional state is shot right now. But I appreciate the update. ^^
