If there's room for one more I'd definitely like to be involved in this.
Murder in the Emerald City, or some such use of one of Seattle's nicknames.
Philadelphia is always a good bet- huge enough to have a variety of different kinds of problems, cultures, and locales. Plenty of organized crime if we want to go that route. And it doesn't get much time in the spotlight. Seattle and Houston would fit the bill there as well.

Or if we wanted to go a less traditional route, we could go with the "decaying and corrupt city" route, somewhere in the rust belt. St. Louis, Detroit, Toledo, one of those places. The police are often corrupt and the people distrust them. Something along those lines.

Just spitballing here.

Yes, that is what I am leaning towards. It's the best time setting for myself to GM, I feel most confident in my knowledge in this time apposed to others. Although, I did contemplate doing a Sci-Fi setting, but I feel like a Modern setting will best fit the story.

Cool! Are we doing any particular city?
I'd love to get involved as well!Am I to take it this is a modern American setting?
First off, a happy New Year to everyone! May you all have a healthy and fulfilling 2016.

This is an RP I tried a couple years back, but I was inexperienced and made a lot of mistakes along the way that ultimately made it die an early death. I've learned a lot since then and I still believe the basic plot is sound, though, so I think I'd like to take a crack at it again.

Basically, this is set in a "Next Sunday AD" future where giant monsters of all sizes and shapes have begun to crawl from the oceans, descend from the skies, and emerge from the forests. Naturally these visits result in a huge amount of death and destruction. Because this is starting off in our modern day, big ol' mecha, death rays, and the like are not yet available- this is such a new thing that no one is really sure how to react yet. Military and police forces are still trying to work out the best response, scientists and engineers are trying to work out how to understand or fight the enemy. Not to mention the consequences for international trade and diplomacy.

This is where you guys come in. The United Nations has gathered a small group of scientists, soldiers, pilots, engineers, diplomats, all sorts of experts. Their job is simply to travel the world, wherever a kaiju attack is happening, and advise the local authorities on how to handle it. The people in the Godzilla movies who evacuate Tokyo, lead tanks into battle, and unveil some kind of new eleventh-hour superweapon? You're them. Eventually, depending on you in-game actions, you might be able to roll out big ol' mecha and death rays- your actions change the world around you.

Any thoughts? Questions? Comments?

It took Subhas a split second to take advantage of the distraction the brave little kid had offered. Much as he hated to admit it, he had been paralyzed by fear and indecision for a critical second- so much was happening so fast, it was too much. He wasted valuable seconds gawping instead of acting as first Loralei collapsed and the another gang of the creatures came after them.

But once Teddy darted off to get their attention, Subhas was galvanized into action. He immediately bent down and scooped up the girl in his arms- he might be getting old, true, but there was still some iron left in those muscles. Besides, she was a skinny little thing. "Hold tight, duuude. We're gonna get you some medicine," he said to Loralei as he began to sprint towards the main building. He prayed Teddy would be able to outrun the creatures on his little legs.
Sorry for keeping folks waiting around, I've been busy with holiday noise. Should be able to post soon.
Subhas stared in utter disbelief for the second time in as many minutes. He had put himself at great personal risk to give the students a chance to leave. Several of them had been smart enough to run, but now one of the girls was picking up a chair and trying to encourage the others to charge at the creatures. The same creatures that had easily overpowered and killed competent grown adults not seconds before.

The ingratitude, the stupidity. For a brief second Subhas raged at it all as he began to step forward, planning to drag the girl out of the room by force.

But no. He was done doing favors that wouldn't be appreciated. If the girl wanted to waste the opportunity she had been given and try to be a hero, let her. There was nothing he could do, he rationalized. No time.

Subhas turned without a word and used the brief respite he had bought to flee from the room, his aged heart pounding in his chest. He slammed shut the big double doors of the cafeteria, leaned up against them with all of his weight as he swiped his master passcard to lock them from the outside. That should keep the zombies away from the rest of the school for a while, at least. Panting from the sprint, he turned to take stock of the situation and see who else had escaped.
