I lean towards Nightwalkers, and I don't see how "Tearing down the establishment" is no longer an option. I if remember it correctly when first discussed the reason for the tear down was that our guys really hate the way things are going, with the baby slaying and mass genocide of innocents. I think starting with that as a base would be a good way to worm our way in and find the true course of the plot and eventually work out the spectacular story I know is hiding in here :P I know it sounds a little "Good guy" but one does not need to be good to disapprove of killing people not really involved or babies. Think of it like the organization, while still keeping war at bay, are doing so in such a corrupt and self destructive way that now it's no longer about keeping the peace, but about the ones in power asserting their authority in reprehensible manners. That would be the base motivation of the coup, but since you wanna avoid "Good for the sake of good" your guy could have his own reason for wanting to do what they are doing, and hey, maybe even be planning to screw my guy over once the opportinity presents itself :P
"My only major concern with plot is having our characters (or at least my character, I don't really get any say in yours) doing something because "it is the right thing to do." I don't mind if events do come up where they do do the right thing to do, but there needs to be a better motivation for it than that. :)"

I think this falls completely in the realm of the characters alone, their personalities and backgrounds, and the interplay between them along with the situation they are in. In other words, I agree; I have no control over your character, and you have none over mine. I think I understand though what you were getting at, and to sum THAT up, I agree that this story would be better served if neither of our guys are 'goody-goodies'. SO I will keep that in mind in my character description. He's already in my head for the most part, since that is how my mind works(I don't make characters, they present themselves to me and I write them down), and I can tell you now he has not "For the good of all" complex :P I do however had a habit of being presented with nice, mischievous, devious guys, if morally reprehensible in their actions, so keep that in mind :P I can write evil character, but I don't fit in very well playing them as "Myself" in an RP :P If that makes any sense. *Grin*
"I am ok with any species cliches, so long as it isn't a hard and fast rule. Saying "all dwarves have beards," is like saying "all dogs have fur." Occasionally there is just an exception. Which is why I often drop a warrior monk elf and a fastidiously neat dwarf into the middle of a fantasy roleplay. Just to make a point."

I agree, there will always be exceptions. So, while making our list I think we could work in some stereotypes, work them over, discuss them. . . .
Heheheheh. We can make a list if you like. I can see one being useful, and since you like working on making worlds and histories so much if we make a comprehensive list we can work together over the course or the RP to build their cultures and histories. *Thinks* I don;t wanna come up with all the races, so how about you tell me which ones you really like, I think you mentioned a humanoid tiger race or something like that before, then I'll fill in some spaces and configurate my own. From there we can put them on their sides and fill in information about them as the RP goes along! HOWEVER! I think we should do that AFTER we finish up with all those questions you had :P
Kiel chuckles lightly. “Feel free to use as much paper as you like, I have plenty.” Peeking into the small sink he nods as he grabs a couple cups from the shelf above it. “The sink is fine, I can bring them back to the parish with the dinner dishes.” Moving back over to the table he sets down the cups and wanders over to the fridge. “I assure you, I am no ninja, just a humble servant of God.” Glancing towards the boy he adds softly. “Perhaps you were just too interested in your work? I find that when I'm concentrating on something hard enough a herd of elephants could stampede by and I would notice nothing.” He chuckles again and kneels by the fridge. Opening his mouth to ask what Zach wants to drink he pauses before closing it again.

'I'll just grab everything. Not like it's the widest variety' Pulling out a carton of milk, orange juice and a small jug of ice tea he stands and moves back over to the table. “Have a seat.” he murmurs, gesturing with the tea to a newly cleared seat. Setting down the drinks he takes a seat himself and smiles at his young guest. His eyes trail over all the visible injuries, his over protective nature making him ache slightly at the sight. 'I can not imagine what it is like to go through the pain these street kids do. How they survive at all still remains a mystery to me. Not physically of course, but living in the constant danger of not only the evils of this world, but of each other and their battle for survival' He lets out a sigh and turns his eyes to the meal.
Sorry, just got home yesterday and passed out for a full day :P Yeah, I was thinking maybe a reoccurring side character could be one of the "Choosers".

As for the Fairy refrance, I was using it as one of many sub divisions of small winged humanoids. Fairy, Pixie, Imp, Gargoyle(The small kind), Sprite, you know :P Fairies are either nice or mischievous, Pixies are mischievous and almost always a touch mean, Imps are very mischievous and cruel, Gargoyles are whatever their masters are, and sprites are completely up for grabs by either side. Fae on the other hand are the large kind of humanoids I count along side Elves, Nymphs, and Dryads as a "Type set".

As long as none of that is confusing or objectionable, then yes, let us move on :P

"As far as the number of variations within a species... I don't think it is really necessary to define that. That is something that could easily change at the drop of a dime. But that does raise the question; How many humans are there in the world, and what is the ratio of humans to the supernatural? If there are a large number of supernatural species, that would mean that there is less for each type. I know what I'm trying to ask, but I can't seem to find the right words. Do you kind of get what I'm trying to say?"

Wow this sorta ties into what were were just talking about :P

If we are really going with the idea that all the fighting has been kept secret, we need the humans to outweigh the supernaturals by a reasonably large margin, so a 70/30 split isn't too far out thee as an idea. As for how many of each, that depends, yes, on how many species there are. It was one of the things I wanted to go with when speaking earlier, but I may not have said it and just forgot I didn't. Anyways, I think there should be only once race of elves, one or two races of small winged humanoid, a few races of animal human hybrid type things, a very small selection of undead like creatures(No zombies, they give me headaches :P) one or two race of dragons. . . .You get the idea. We pick our favorite kinds of races and formulate and modify them until we can set down a flat set of a few types for each of our fav kinds of beings. Make sense?
Viltez smiles in relief. 'I'm so glad he's not freaked out by it. I mean, it was practically trying the snake inside his clothes' His smile widens and he shrugs at the man's last statement. “I have no problem with you staying as long as you need to. The place is big enough for two, especially since you don't seem to have much in the way of belongings, and tomorrow I can but some more stuff if the couch proves too hard tonight.” He pauses for a moment then adds, “Actually I was wondering if you'd like to take the bed. I find the bench comfortable enough and wouldn't mind letting you take the more comfortable surface, heh.” He coughs lightly and looks towards his room briefly.

As if suddenly remembering something he turns back to his guest with a rather bashful grin. “Oh, yeah, my tail. . . .” It comes forward to wag a few times in front of his face before dropping down to the floor to slither about the table legs. He chuckles lightly. “It, um, I think it's because I don't work with it enough. I don't really have time, or even a reason to get more control of it. I mean, it does what I need it to during the day which is sit still and remain tight.” He gestures vaguely behind him towards the wall. “And I guess it at least works to my benefit. I found out on accident that it can hold my weight!”

Shifting slightly he get a little bit of a far away look in his eyes. “I was in the forest a few years ago, looking for a lost pet for one of the village girls. A pack of wild dogs use to plague the area and while I was searching I came across them. I couldn't out run them, so I climbed the first tree I could and got fairly high up before a branch gave out under my fingers.” Behind him his tail rises, lashing back and forth in an agitated manner. “I thought I was going to fall and break my neck, or if not that the dogs were going to maul me. But then snap!” His tail lashes out to the side, the blade making a slicing sound in th air but stopping before striking anything. “It unraveled in an instant and locked around a branch, the blade cutting into the bark. I managed to shift around and get my feet on a branch after dangling for a few seconds and it automatically wrapped a few times around the branch it had caught. Like it was making sure I didn't fall again.”

The tail drifts back down tot he floor and begins scraping gently against the stones at the base of the fireplace. Viltez lets out a sigh and re-focuses on his Aryx. “It was incredible, and it's actually very comforting to know it can help me when I'm in danger.” His soft smile fades and his brows crease in worry. “However it makes me a bit more paranoid. It coming out that time was completely involuntary, and I guess it was responding to my fear. I. . . .If something scared me enough and any of the villagers are around. . . .” He shudders lightly, his whole body tensing for a moment. After a second he relaxes and smiles once more at the other man. “Sorry, I'm being a little too paranoid, heh.” Unclasping his fingers he begins painting little invisible designs on the table.
Indeed. I can see them having occasion to chat. See, Mois, much like yer guys, doesn't know Alexi's true agenda either so he's going to be using any avenue possible to find out and try and stop the one thing about the plan he does know but doesn't agree with :P
Well, it is a part of human nature to blame all for the actions of some. So, I'd say that at some point in the past the humans began blaming all none humans for the trouble caused by the evil and mischievous races, and feeling that was unfair the none humans fought back, making the humans feel all justified! Make sense?
We can do both, but I see elves(Tolkin, not Grimm), centaurs, shape shifters, beastmen, dryads, sayters, other kinds or weres, more if we think of it :P
