Current Teaching myself web development by trying to fix some BBCode bugs/features in the Guild is probably a bad idea. Oh, well.

If school were less hard, it'd be less interesting. I still want it to be less hard, though.

I've got mixed feelings.
I've recently had an interesting idea. Chunks of land, replete with the people living on them, get sucked off to a paralell universe. These chunks reappear as islands floating in a vast sea. Other unpopulated chunks have also appeared. These chunks are all from different universes - you could have a small Soviet base from Red Alert 2 appear next to Winterfell from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, which in turn appears next to 17 floors of the Citadel from Mass Effect and the police station from The Good Guys (tv show). Meanwhile, a chunk of land with a tiberium crystal and a trainyard from Peter F. Hamilton's Commonwealth saga appear, devoid of life, waiting for someone to claim them.

And then the NRP (FRP?) would consist of everybody sorting out what happens next.

Creon stared. He’d picked a gopping wonderful time to use the head. When he did manage to get back onto the bridge, they’d already exited hyperspace. Roughly, from the sound of all the shouting and alarms. Seeing that everyone was obviously aware of the danger, he anticipated West’s next order and slammed his hand against the “silence alarm” button on the wall. For now, that would be the most useful thing he could do. There was such a thing as too many cooks in the kitchen. Until either something went horribly wrong that would require his attention, a sailor seriously screwed up, or the captain needed him, he’d just stand at the back of the bridge, out of the way, yet looming.
I was subscribed to an RP I'd started. Then I realized someone else had already started the same RP. So I asked for it to be closed. Now there's no way to unsubscribe from it. Not a big problem; it's not like there's going to be updates. But it does clutter up the subscriptions screen a bit.

This is Paranoia.

I'm curious if anybody else is interested in the game, and if so, would they like to do an RP? Or play it in some other form?

I've accidentally recreated an RP that was already running. Whoops! Could somebody please close down that thread for me?

Excuse me? As one of the owners of the original RP, I'd really rather you join the actual RP instead of simply making one of your own. It's right here. We're always welcoming new people, and I'd rather not see the RP taken without credit. Plus, you'll get a bigger group to RP with if you join the site.

Oh hey! I hadn't realized. Sorry to infringe on anybody's territory. I tried asking around the IRC, but nobody seemed to know about it. Regardless, unless the original RP'ers change their minds, I'd rather not split interested people into two groups. So I'm not going to run this RP, and it's closed as of now. You also might want to throw up a link to the website on TVTropes, as that's where I'd heard about this originally.
This isn't quite a sequel, nor is it truly a continuation (as I never participated in the original). I simply liked the idea, and think it'd be neat to continue/restart/reimagine.
The posts that follow chronicle the adventures of a group of humans on an Earth nearly identical to our own. While I am uncertain as to their ultimate fate, I know that it should be entertaining, so long as this muse keeps whispering their adventures into my ear (at the threat of madness and death, should I not comply with Her demands) ((not to disrespect Her)). On this paralell Earth, for whatever reason, a group of ordinary members of RoleplayerGuild.com found themselves, after applying to a certain RP, sucked through their computer. Their bodies are no longer their own. Their forms have changed - some aren't even human. Instead, they have been transformed into a creature based off of (however loosely or directly) ((not that that's a problem, oh Muse)), their Username, Avatar*, or Profile Picture.

Once inside their computer, these people find themselves on an open plain. Bits of code flash through the crackling blue air from one direction to another; neat little green packets of informoation lase to their destination. A voice from the aether - more heard within their minds than their ears - explains the situation. They are caught in the multiverse. Some time ago a similar group of adventurers appeared ("fell from the sky" are the exact words that the voice uses), on a quest to unite an artifact called the Crucible. The artifact is responsible for their plight; but it was scattered across the worlds. The last group of adventurers managed to capture all but one piece of the Crucible before they (and the changes they had wrought across the multiverse) mysteriously vanished. Now it's up to this new group to find the Crucible and/or the former adventurers, so they can return home.

Then, without a second for thought, the intrepid band of humans fall from the sky and land in a charred, scorched plain. The sun is rising over majestic purple mountain peaks, covered with a noble cap of snow. Streamers of windblown snow trail off like a woman waving her scarf at a departing lover.

The scene is, however, horrendous. The earth, the trees, the very rock face of the mountain lies scorched and burnt. Feeble plants poke through the ash and soot in between the piles of armor and weapons, laying around as if their diminutive owners simply crumbled to ash. Dogs and cats picked though the debris, hunting small vermin. A nearly completed 80 foot long statue of gecko lies scorched, half complete. The feeble remnants of a river slosh out of a hole in the mountain and underneath a stone bridge. A gate stands, covered in blood, carved into the rock face, not-quite closed. An elephant's trumpet sounds in the distance.

Shorter, less in-character version of the premise: You are your avatar*, signature, or username. We'll journey across from one realm to the next in a Kingdom Hearts style Roleplay, solving one central problem in each world, chasing after the original roleplayers and trying to find the plot MacGuffin (the Crucible). Along the way, we may meet characters of such high reputation that they have been granted near-deity like powers. For example, Batman, God of Crazy-Preparedness - who may give us seemingly useless but actually incredibly and specifically useful bat-themed items. Or who may teach your character how to unlock some part of their potential.

Along the way, you may gradually become more and more like your character in personality. Or not.

Worlds I Plan on us Visiting: (Feel free to suggest others: TV Shows, Movies, Video Games, and Books are all fair game)
Boatmurdered, of Dwarf Fortress Fame
Stargate
Snow White, the Disney Version
Grand Theft Auto IV
A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones
Red Alert 2
Groundhog Day, the Bill Murray Movie

...Actually I think I read the OP wrong. ^^; Will work on something else. But still interest. To clarify: if the avatar we're using is of a specific character, is it okay to basically become a copy of said character in terms of appearance and powers?

That is precisely what happens. However, not having been that character for your whole life, then you likely won't know how to access them. If you even realize you have them. For instance, you might be Batman, and have his reflexes, but you wouldn't know how to fight or what to do with the reflexes. Yet.

Do avatars from the Old Tower count? Or from the old RPG before it died?

As long as you can provide the picture, it counts.
Given the rapid influx of interest, I'm going to put up an OOC. Post characters, etc. in that thread, please.
