Meredith doesn't remember much of her childhood as she was left alone from a young age(10) after her father, in a fit of drunken rage, killed her mother and sister, then himself afterwards, leaving her to fend for herself. She grew up on a really small farm in Aix, France; her parents were really poor, barely managing to make it by, just inching their way through the days. Both her and her fraternal twin sister, Annaleise were born witches from their mother's side, but Meredith never discovered this until her early teens, and by that time, she was adopted into another family in America, who happened to be friends with her mother.
At this time, Meredith had convinced herself that she could rely on no one but herself, so she shut people out and refused help from anyone, stressing herself to get stronger, both physically and mentally, which ultimately did good and bad on her. She strives to be a thousand times better than her father ever was, not wanting to end up just barely living life as a shadow, with nothing in her name, so she seeks success every way possible, wanting to prove him wrong.
Years after, she's now been attending Reindale for some time now, though when she first heard about it, it was a coincidence and just the right time, though she was highly skeptical at first, so it definitely took some time for her to really open up to the idea and to believe it. Even after time has passed, she still has a hard time truly accepting it, though she knows it's real.
And although she has the power to contact spirits, she's not once tried to communicate with her sister, believing that those memories are best buried in the past, that it's better to look forward than back.
|Personality|
When it comes down to it, Meredith is easily an introverted individual, preferring to be alone and to herself rather than spending a large amount of time in a big group, though she has no problem interacting and talking to others, especially when she had things on her mind that she needs to get off of her chest. She can seem isolated, but to her, she wants it that way, and cold to strangers, often putting herself at a distance and purposefully making it difficult for others to get her to open up. She is intelligent and quick witted, though she has a rather sharp tongue and the brutal honesty to say what's on her mind, and curse words do often follow with it. Anger and aggression does come easily, especially when she's frustrated or stressed which is a common occurrence since she has the habit of keeping all of her emotions bottled up, only for it to lash out, usually at another person, but it can also be at herself in the form of self hatred and criticism.
She has a naturally determined personality, putting aside many others things in pursuit of a goal, success over happiness without hesitation is her main motto in life, especially since she has an extreme disliking to indecision and hesitation, which can make her leadership skills desirable or, on the other spectrum, reckless. She has a pessimistic outlook on life, though she tries to take into account of others’ views, but if they clash with her own ideals and passions, she has the tendency of getting defensive and upset, believing that her views are her own and there's nothing anyone can do to change that, causing her to be headstrong, but is loyal to her cause. She's daring and not afraid to take risks or to make decisions that are of questionable morals, because she knows that someone's going to have to do it.
But because she tends to drive people away, especially those who are weak of mind and cannot handle criticism, she ends up alone at the end of the day to face only herself, which probably scares her the most other than failure. Meredith tries her best to keep a calm and composed figure to those around her, wanting not to come off as immature or incapable in any way, so she lets others see what she wants them too. Analytical and a strategist, she’s a quick thinker and is great at speaking in front of crowds, though she can harsh and distrustful when it comes to leadership, especially as she always plays to win, so failure is not an option. She is cautious and prefers to take things at a slow pace, sticking to a plan, but when frustrated or upset, she loses those qualities easily in place of rashness and a sarcastic as hell attitude.
Other than this, with those who are determined enough to manage to get close to her (which she allows to happen sometimes, she's not anti-people or anything), Meredith does have a playful side, and it's especially good for herself to relieve stress and pent up emotions. She's an extremely loyal friend, never doubting to stick up and fight for another, she's actually rather quick to that, and she does, though rarely, enjoy cuddles. She does tend to vent to her friends, though it's always angry and never about herself, and she loves to casually roast and to have petty tendencies. Meredith loves astronomy and always questioning things more than they need to be, but sometimes she just does it to be an ass.

Meredith has an acute taste for fine wines and an appriciation for hip-hop and R&B music, especially because creating similar sounding poems was a way for her to deal with stress and anxiety as a child, but she never shared those poems with anyone else although she still has them. She enjoys debating with people, though they tend to turn into a little less than friendly arguments, and she enjoys staying up for hours to stargaze, finding herself getting lost in the constellations a lot, but to her, it's a comforting feeling.

Meredith has a strong disliking for unorganization; it's one of her biggest pet peeves. She doesn't care if someone else is unorganized, but she herself cannot be. She hates being at a stand still in life, as it makes her feel unproductive and sluggish. Meredith also dislikes when things are too easily done, she likes being challenged and will give herself more things to do if something seems to easy. And lastly, she has a rough time coming to terms with her insecurities, so she is easily riled up when someone else points them out.

Some of Meredith's hobbies include watching weird sci-fi movies that cone on during the dead of night, stargazing, and writing short stories and poems that she makes sure to keep hidden well.

To die without achieving success or accomplishing a goal would be Meredith's greatest fear. She believes that she must prove her worth before she dies, and that means to do achieve something that will make people remember her. She doesn't wish to die with nothing to make up for the space she took in the world, and without purpose, her life is about insignificant as a flea. It's not that she wants to be famous, she wants to do something grand enough to prove everyone who ever doubted her, wrong. She wants to show people that she can and she will, and there's nothing stopping her from achieving this.

Not exactly necromancy, Meredith is able to communicate with haunted spirits, often ususing constellation symbols and other other worldy signs kind of like ritual circles.
|Stengths|
Her determination and solid focus makes it easy for her to concentrate on her work as a witch. She is persistant and demanding, having a strong voice and grip, able to get up when she's pushed down, and only coming back stronger. Meredith is independant and only relies on herself to get things done, she believes that the only way to get it done is to rely on herself, since if she messes up, it'll be her own fault.
|Weaknesses|
Although she says that she doesn't take criticism to heart, it's the opposite for her, she just doesn't show it, though when thinking about it in the future, it tends to make her upset. And rather than learn from it, the frustratiin just sits in her chest. She can also be reckless, especially since she carries her own sense of pride, and like normally, when she does something right, it grows and she becomes less cautious, which can be dangerous when summoning and/or communicating with spirits.

|Familiar|
Meredith's familiar is a large, male griffon vulture named Asmir, who tends to hang out in the distance from wherever she's at. She came across him while traveling across Europe for educational purposes, eventually coming into contact with him through one of her spiritual rituals, though he was a show bird, trapped in a cage for show. She noticed that he was very intelligent, though mostly silent, had also the uncanny ability to locate spirits, guiding hand. Realizing this was useful, Meredith formed a bond with him, promising to set him free of his cage in return of his loyalty and guidance. Accepting, they now attend the University together, helping each other when needed.
