I'm feeling really happy and pumped. Oh, and joyful. Haha.
Bio
Here's a list of things about me if you want to know a little bit more. Though if you actually want to get to know me, send me a PM, or talk over the OOC chat.
1. I don't generally like roleplays where my characters are forced to be serious 100% of the time; mostly because that's not how actual people work.
2. Yes, I use anime pictures for appearances. I've come to like anime less and less over the years, and personally only ever watch the movies now, and that's on incredibly rare occasions. I personally like using those over actual people faces, because people have too many specific details, and I can never find people faces that match the description I want. If you would like, I can use a text description instead.
3. I generally like to make 'pairs' of characters. Either characters that seriously contrast with each other, or work together really well but still have arguments and problems.
4. I've been forum roleplaying for just about 5 years now, and I've been tabletop roleplaying for 11 years now. I still suck at roleplaying despite being a 12 year veteran, but, what're you gonna do?
5. I really enjoy talking to people. Yes, society has gone downhill, but despite that I find serious enjoyment out of talking to people about anything. So, if I'm in an RP with you, just chat away with me. We can talk about mundane things, or go all-out on serious topics. I don't think I've come across a single person I've hated talking to, even if they were somewhat irritating or annoying. So please PM me, or just talk OOC.
6. I flipping love Inside Out, and as such, if you ever make an RP based around it, please invite me. I promise to behave of course. If one isn't made though, you know very well that I'll make my own, and I'll try my hardest to make it the best RP possible. Or, if you just want to talk about Inside Out, I'd love to do that as well.
7. Please make good characters. I understand Advanced Roleplayer's over on that section have no problem with this, but I don't like RPing over there. When I'm on casual roleplay, not many seem to care a whole lot about making good characters. They just make walking cliche's to get into an RP, and then completely change that character as the RP barely starts. It's annoying, lazy, and doesn't really make me want to accept you if I'm GM or co-GM.
Characters are the literal heart and soul of roleplaying, and should be treated as such. If you make your characters card-board cut-outs, it only tells me that you either don't care, are lazy, or that we absolutely need a moderate roleplay section on the forums to bridge the gap between posting 1-2 paragraphs with barely any work put into characters, and posting 6-8 paragraphs with enormously deep backstories, love, and care, put into characters.
8. I am a caring and nice guy, so don't be afraid to talk to me about anything. I'm fairly hard to offend, and even harder to make mad. I seriously enjoy getting to know my fellow members, so talk whenever you feel like it.
Kurano TanakaUsername: RawrgnatheBloodfridge | Character Name: Kurano Tanaka | Character Age: 20 | Character Gender: Male
Appearance:
Kurano is 5'6" tall, and generally wears the vest, tie, and white button-up shirt with black pants get-up. His eye color is brown, and hair generally disheveled. He normally wears grey tied shoes, and wears a watch with constant reminders on study, food, and class times routinely sounding off. His eyes normally have dark shadows under them from the constant nights he spends staying up to study.
Fourth Dimensional Power: Sound. Not unlocked all of his powers.
Bio: Kurano is a college law student, attending Waseda University, a very prestigious and highly respectable University within the Shinjuku Tokyo region. Kurano was gifted the dimensional power of sound inherited from his mother. His parents weren't the wealthiest, leading him to live a more modest lifestyle growing up. His conflicts with the snobs at Waseda tend to happen often. He's fairly hard-working and serious, shown through his intensive studies into graduating as quickly as possible and becoming a lawyer. Though, growing up in a humble family has given him a chance to realize just how gifted he truly is. Being a student at Waseda caused him and his family to be a target of the local mob, and he's usually pestered often from his usual route between his classes and his apartment. Kurano genuinely tries his hardest to be nice to others, though normally ends up being rude in some way. He uses his power with as much responsibility as possible, trying to hone it so that he could hear an approaching danger much easier.
Most of Kurano's life was spent in the shadow of his uncle, a successful businessman who would stop at nothing to make sure Kurano was set in life, him not ever having a child and likely will never have the possibility either. Kurano was trained in various important aspects of what's needed to "make it" in life. Coercion, looks, and most importantly, how to make money. He very normally conflicted with his uncle, only wanting to inherit the family business. He only recently took up smoking, as a way to escape the constant stress of the world and classes. He had heard recently that those with the power of taste could easily develop fourth dimensional toe cheese.
Minami has orange dyed hair, with her natural hair color being a raven black. She normally keeps her hair in a twin-tails look with big clips to hold them there. Minami is 4'8" tall, and has an almost orange glow in her light brown colored eyes. She normally likes to wear the color yellow or orange to complement her hair and eye colors. Though, rarely she'll go as far as to wear brown on occasions. She wears a yellow dress shirt, and orange capris when not attending school.
Fourth Dimensional Power: Smell. Really sucks when that fourth dimensional toe jam comes into effect. Has not earned all of her powers yet.
Bio: Minami is a recent runaway. Her parents were neglectful with a step-father and mother, and had no friends in school due to the fact that she was more reserved than others, as well as constantly being teased over what she wore and what she's done. She got fed up with it all, and figured that her chances of surviving in the city weren't all that bad. Only three weeks into her runaway plan from Osaka and her arduous journey, she finally got to Tokyo, the city of dreams, as she was told by her deceased father. There, she would be able to survive amongst the countless amounts of other homeless people strewn about the slums. Minami was always ridiculed for being "too nice, and too trusting." Minami never once deserved the hate she recieved, it made her that much more tempted to escape from Osaka.
Minami always attempted to be as kind as possible in the face of her aggressors, not giving in until the day she snapped and ran away. She had an extreme amount of perseverance, always pushing for her dreams no matter how impossible they seemed. Her power, that she inherited from her biological father, always came in handy for her when helping her mother to cook. Though, her life took a downhill turn once her father died and a step-dad took his place. The man constantly smoked, and would verbally abuse her and her mother. Eventually, Minami's mom stopped caring about her, and so did her father. Minami's only friends moved out prior to all of this, and then she experienced an entirely new feeling. Loneliness. Never before had she ever felt alone. It scared Minami to no end, being persecuted, alone, and sad. There was no place for her in her home town, and decided that Tokyo would accept her better than this place had. She would have to learn how to scrounge for food, and sift through the dirty rivers for water. Her personality always stayed positive, however. She knew that braving the tough world be better than being alone until the day that she died. Minami had that amount of common sense at the least. She packed as much food as she could from the kitchen while her parents were at work, and traveled. Now in the prophetic city she was told about, her only wonder was what she needed to do now to find friends.
The thing is that because these guys were strong, it got to their heads and they used it for evil of course. I could see a group of people using their abilities for bad, trying to control the fourth dimension for their own nefarious gains.
Ah, okay, I'm 100% okay with it if it's weapon based, and not biologically based. I used to watch Batman Beyond and very distinctly remember the Shriek episode. Too bad he was dealt with almost as soon as the episode started.
I feel like having extra abilities through the use of created technological weapons to be fairly good. Especially considering that if it does ever get too OP, or we wanted to make it extra challenging, the weapon could malfunction and not work. I only really questioned you a ton on it because I have a sound character as well, and I was wondering what other abilities someone with an extremely enhanced sense of sound could do.
The only thing I was going to have with my character was a very slight system of echolocation. Which, like, Tek said, would just let me pinpoint where an enemy was based on the vibrations I received.
It would be fairly funny if you could smell primal emotions. Fear, or happiness, but that would sort of coincide with energy's abilities.
Then possibly with taste, you could "taste" elements in the air. Like, say you're on a normal street corner. But, you smell the distinct smell of smoke coming from a nearby house, before it should technically have ever hit you. You would then be able to tell there's either a fire or barbecue (though, I doubt the Japanese do barbecues.) and act upon it.
I may have accidentally talked way too dang much on the vibration sound thing. Either way, I would approve of it, but it would be fairly nice just to know what causes it/if there are any problems with it.
Now, would this be an attachment to the ear that amplifies this ability, or just something that naturally occurs within your character? I have a feeling it needs at least a minor drawback. When you switch it to this "reverse ear function," would it effectively rid your ability to hear while you do it? Because you're releasing sound waves rather than receiving them? So that you are very temporarily deaf until the release is over with. I'm not saying permanently deaf, but only when the ability is being used and at no other time.
The rules for the powers in the fourth dimension aren't exactly set in stone yet, unless Tek has those and hasn't disclosed them to me. So, just pitch ideas for what you think your powers can do in the fourth dimension. Though, ultimately, because Tek came up with the whole thing, I don't think I should be able to dictate rules on powers. I'm all for some sort of vibration machine, but it's a thing that would need to be used in moderation. If you can explain how it works, and how it fits in to the ability of hearing, because this feels like it's more something you release from your mouth. Unless the ear works opposite, and it releases vibrations instead of picking up on them for some reason.
So is fourth dimensional travel supposed to be a form of instant teleportation? That would explain why it's near impossible to kill them while stuck in the "third dimension". They see you, teleport behind you, and in less than a second lacerate you into shreds and teleport away.
Considering that I'm co-GM, I'd honestly accept this app. It works, and the biography, while a bit lacking, though it did hammer in the fact that these two will never part. Once I came to the end I kind of expected a "but that all changed when the fire nation attacked," sort of thing. Either way, it's acceptable enough, and I would allow it.
