@Kuro Oh I’m very aware lol. I’ve been around a little while, and I also used to avoid Advanced because even though I was capable of meeting the Advanced guidelines, I was intimidated by the idea that there was a larger population of better writers that I couldn’t possibly impress or be accepted by, when in the end that’s not what it was supposed to be about. It was just supposed to be a way to help like-minded RPers find their niche with each other. It’s too bad it was rarely perceived that way.
@Kuro The only way it’s gonna change is if y’all just start using it. The guidelines are literally “Two paragraph minimum” with emphasis on plot and lore. I would say most Casual RPs I’ve been involved in more than met those requirements.
Welcome back to the Guild.
I can lick my elbow. Both of them in fact. I can also lick yours if you’d stop trying to run away.

Currently reading Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance series. Again. At the moment I’m in the third book Brisingr and I’m glad they’re as good as I remember them being.
Talk to other players OOC. My favorite way to help characters play off each other is to create a character history with another player(s) and have that be incorporated IC. Rather than a bunch of complete strangers coming together for the first time, for some characters it could be a reunion, or they start off already being friends/rivals/ etc. with a pre-existing relationship.

If you do start with all-strangers then talk to players OOC about how they’d like to see character relationships develop as the RP progresses. Communication, especially from the GM, is key when it comes to setting expectations and making sure everyone is included. I feel like a level of planning when it comes to character development among the players OOC also encourages more OOC discussion about the RP. And don’t forget to switch it up and do some scheming with other players/characters so you don’t catch yourself running off on unrelated side-quests with your new best bud.

Those were always the sorts of RPs I’ve had the most fun with anyway.
What if...

What if there was a roleplay about people roleplaying...

Like the characters themselves are roleplayers, and the story is about them doing roleplays--

An RP plot that follows a group of friends playing a DND campaign. But the GM is evil and if you die in the game you die in real life.
If you put “high casual” in your Interest Check you might as well post your RP in Advanced.
