Daiki almost laughed, until he noticed more of the slimy projectiles coming towards them. "Wipe yourself off later! There's more incoming!" He yelled as he yanked Grizel by the arm and ran, dodging the projectiles and taking shelter directly under one of the catapults. A few landed close enough and a few spots of slime dotted his pants, but he had avoided a direct hit and that was more than he could say for most of the students.

"Was that a test or a prank? What kind of twisted teacher does this right before the welcoming ceremony?" Daiki cursed as he scanned the path ahead for any more traps. He doubted they would be that easy to see, but he didn't want to be faulted for springing another one on the rest. He turned to Grizel and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry about that, emergency and everything." He apologised politely.

He didn't honestly have much on him that could help clean her off, and he was loathe to use up one of his spare clothes or towels not knowing if the faunus girl would return them. Still, she had been nothing but friendly. He supposed he could returned the favour. He opened up his small trunk and pulled out a small rag he had intended to use for cleaning his stuff anyway.

"Here, use this." He offered with a kind smile.

Grizel's hands dropped to her sides, the wolf-girl in question smiling brightly at Daiki, "'Just'? I don't think I can even lift that thing! ...Well, okay, maybe I can, but I suck at sword-fighting! And it's not like you need your sword to... I dunno, explode into a ton of smaller swords that rain from the sky to make it work, right?"Turning her gaze upwards, Grizel continued thoughtfully, "...Actually, that'd be insanely awesome. I gotta find out how to do that..."Continuing towards the school, the faunus continued to talk enthusiastically, elated at the prospect of talking to someone that was both human willing to associate with her. Much like her friend back home, just with more wariness this time around. At least she had good news to report to her back home. She would still need to find a good way to word "hey guys I'm making friends with the humans now 'kay?" to her parents... oh well, they could hardly ground her now.

"My sword is pretty light, actually. Maybe I'm just used to it." Daiki added thoughtfully. "I guess being born in a family of lumberjacks tends to be good for your fitness..." Although Daiki couldn't help but think he lost out when it came to finances or gear... or proper training.

"I'm not sure how I'd hold up in a fight though. My uncle taught me to finish any Grimm I met with a single strike... I haven't had to duel someone or keep my sword out for more than that." He admitted. It seemed most of the students here were pretty familiar with fighting. How would he hold up against a fellow student? "Besides, all anyone needs to do is keep shooting at me and I'd be helpless. I'm not even sure how I got recommended here, to be honest."

Eh, Daiki and Grizel? She is the only faunus he's interacted with and pretty much the only proper conversation he had with someone other than his sword.

Good point. Besides, Canon characters were made with the entire team in mind, it's difficult to plan several characters from different people into teams which follow the canon naming convention
