Set this scene in a tavern.
A few guys, all varying in looks, sit at a table and laugh. One spots a paper on your table and sits down. He checks it over. “I thought it had been taken care of. I hope so, otherwise Roger is without his head.” He chuckled and looked at you. Now that you have a good look at him,
“Hello there! I have some information for you. Regarding the dragon at least. They say it looks human, almost, too human. If it weren’t for a lack of hair and the ridges on its head, it could be. It can change the color of its scales to match anything. What an enigma, right fellas?” The other men laughed in agreement. After the laughter had died down, the man turned back to you. “I would be careful if you’re hunting it. Many have tried. It returns their heads to us. Don’t let your head be one of them.”
You leave the tavern, having heard all of the other.... wise.... things.... to come out of their mouths. They sure could hold a beer. From now on, your destiny is in your own hands.
The dragon sat in its den, a small cave opening surrounded by trees and brush. A small clearing had been burned out, and bones littered the edges of the clearing.
It looked around, sharpening its eyes and flinching at every sound. It had been injured in the last battle. No matter. It thought, I will heal eventually. It relaxed and lay its head against a rock. Soft humming was later heard by it.
