Good to hear - I agree that a cinematic consensus should be attempted first, but I do not expect those to come often.
My suggestion was that when forces meet, both parties send battle plans to the GM, who adjudicates based on the deployed forces and player-created tactics. This cycle would happen a few times, then combat would be resolved. Up to the GM tho.

SoBoerd, I figured they would be bomb platforms or giant flying artillery pieces that would support ground or naval operations. Also, an artillery piece will have a hard time shooting 8k straight up - anti-aircraft guns are very specialized things, and without specialized guns the ships could easily ascend high enough to not get smacked by AA.
