Dear life, I was told to get one but you are killing me. Can I get a refund on the extra hours at work and the lack of sleep for a bit of freetime. Yours dearly, The Coffeeholic

Sleep? You mean there is a such thing called a regular sleep schedule?

After a three year hiatus I’m back and with a new username.

  • I joined the Guild in the summer of 2011
  • I enjoy gardening, hiking, cooking and listening to podcasts (if you have any podcast suggestions send them my way)
  • I have a huge interest in roleplays where I can really dive into the psychological side of my characters but not a fan of romance based roleplays

General Bio
Name: Jenna Baxter
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Appearance:

For someone that is as short as 5’2”, Jenna has an average build for someone her size. She is most often found in jeans and simple shirt or a blouse with a matching pair of shoes or boots.

Superpower
Name of ability: Magnetic Manipulation
Description: Jenna has the capabilities of moving and shaping metals affected by magnets. Ever since she was affected by the serum, a magnetic force has been created in her hands allowing to use her powers by pulling and pushing the metal she is concentrating on.

Level one abilities: Jenna is able to move small objects weighting at a max of ten pounds but any more than five pounds will require great focus and have the possibility of not working. She is able to alter and shape soft metals but causes a lot of strain and focus.

Level three abilities: Jenna can move metal up to half of what she can physically hold and able to alter the shape of soft metals at ease. She is able to alter denser and harder metals but without much success. Able to gain control over one of her weaknesses, Jenna is able to use her magnetism to willingly cause electronic disruption in objects such as surveillance cameras and the likes but only with direct contact.

Level five abilities: Jenna can move metal up to what she can physically hold and able to control up to two different objects (one for each hand) with ease. She can shape nearly any type of metal but is unable to change the given properties and traits of the metal she is manipulating. Her capability to cause electronic disruption has moved to a range of up to ten feet.

Weakness/drawback: Jenna is unable to use most technology until she is able to restrain her magnetic force while using the object and even then she has to keep a steady concentration to make sure she doesn’t slip up. Strong magnets can interfere with her powers and is completely powerless against any metals not affected by magnets. Due to the magnetic force within her body, she is not able to absorb iron as well as normal people especially during prolonged use of her powers which causes Anemia if she isn’t watchful of her iron levels
History: Born and raised in central Florida, Jenna lived an average, upper middle class life with both her parents and a younger brother. Upon graduating from high school with decent grades, Jenna decided to move north to New York to experience life in the big city while in college, something she has been planning ever since she was young. After spending two years living in a dorm and working at a coffee shop, Jenna moved out into a small apartment a few miles away from the school and has been living there since. Enjoying life in New York, Jenna has decided to stay in New York and although she hasn’t found a job a full-time teacher with her degree, she has been working as a substitute teacher for the last year with a promising chance of being a teacher next year after a recent interview.

The day before the bus ride: A small smile crept on Jenna’s lips as she looked through the storefront window at the litter of puppies being displayed. Ever since she moved to New York, having a dog was one things she missed besides her close relationship with her parents and brother. However, the apartment she was living in had many strict rules and having a dog was one of those rules. She often debated about moving out and living in a place which was more dog friendly, however she knew that it would be unwise until she had a steady teaching job. As she normally was, Jenna was optimistic and had a good feeling that the interview she was in yesterday went well and that she would soon be on her way to fulfilling her goals.

With a small sigh, Jenna started to head down the street knowing that she couldn’t waste too much time today. A small group of friends were meeting at her house in a few hours for dinner and she still hasn’t been to the store to buy the items necessary for dinner. “Crap!” Jenna exclaimed aloud as she reached in her pocket as she realized that she forgot her shopping list at home. As she mentally chastised herself for being so careless yet again, Jenna pulled her phone out to check the time. Frustration overwhelmed her as she shoved her phone back in her pocket as she realized that she wouldn’t have enough time to run back home to get the list. Hoping that her memory is good enough to remember all that she needs, Jenna headed into the store and quickly grabbed the materials for the tacos her and her friends were going to eat before making her way to the checkout line, the worst part of shopping in her opinion. Waiting impatiently as the checkout line seemed to move at a snail speed, Jenna was glad when she was finally able to leave the store.

“Procrastinating again?” A familiar voice said a joking mock tone as Jenna reached the street her apartment was on.

“Can it Emma or I won’t procrastinate canning you.” Jenna said with a slight smirk as she handed a few of her grocery bags to her friend. “You’re a bit early aren’t you?” Unlocking her apartment door, Jenna opened the door for Emma.

“Of course. I’m looking forward to eating on time this time around so I came to help you out.” Emma jested as she placed the bags of groceries on Jenna’s table. “I can start to cook the meat if you want to prepare the other stuff.”

“You have to be kidding me!” Jenna exclaimed as dropped her groceries onto the table and quickly rummaged through the bags.

“Forgot something?” Emma asked as she watched Jenna with folded arms.

“Yeah, I’m thinking we’re going to have vegetarian tacos tonight. I forgot the meat.”
Hmm, I feel like that power might be a little too close to Regendorf's ability.

Interest Check

Brief History:
2001. It was a year that changed everything but not in the way most people think. Unlike the news of the Twin Towers falling, the happenings of the Sierra Project was kept a secret. A small team of scientist under the watchful eyes of the U.S. Military went out to find a way to enhance human performance to prepare themselves for the future. However, instead of finding enhancements that could allow a person to grow physically stronger than normal or allow a person to be able to survive harsher terrains longer than normal, they created something much more than they could ever dream of. A serum that could give inhuman abilities to about a quarter of the people given either by injection or inhalation of the gas produced.

After the original group (nicknamed Generation Alpha) were tested on and the serum was found to be perfected, the Sierra Project moved to phase two with the introduction of Team Bravo in 2004. A group of ten were chosen to accomplish tasks deemed impossible by normal humans. However, things didn’t go as everyone expected as Gen. (generation) Bravo was decommissioned and the Sierra Project was shut down in 2008.

Now it is 2014. Saturday, May 3rd to be exact and a few people that previously worked on the Sierra Project are becoming restless. One of the scientist was planning something and was delivering three vials of the serum in New York City. However, plans fell through as a minor car accident happened while riding the bus, breaking one of the vials during this process. Thus releasing a gas throughout the bus and unknowingly affecting a quarter of the people on the bus. Burger flipping teens, a first year middle school teacher, a recently divorced alcoholic, a tourist from Canada; just a group of average, everyday people who are soon going to be thrusted into a situation they would have never seen themselves in.

Welcome to the rebirth of the Sierra Project, Gen. Charlie.
Special Notes on Abilities:
Although I would like to see a growth in each character’s ability, I do not want the final outcome to be something too overpowered. The abilities are going to manifest in five stages ranging from a total lack of control (level one) to full mastery (level five). For most of the first part of the roleplay, the characters are going to sticking to level one and brushing into level two later down the road. Out of those in in Gen. Alpha and Bravo, few are on the top end of level three or emerging into level five but most are level four.

Rules and guidelines:
-Follow the Fundamental Rules of the Guild and Casual Standards. Seriously, read them if you haven’t because I will harp on you if you don’t follow them. Especially on the part of being Fonz cool and rule five of the Fundamental Rules.

-Play fair. Seriously, no one wants to write with the metagamming Mary Sue or the invincible godmodder. With the way this roleplay is going to work, our characters are purposely going to be weak and without knowledge of what is going on.

-I’m not too much of a stickler when it comes to posts but please use common sense. If you know spelling or grammar is not your strong point (which it isn’t for me) use a spell/grammar checker before posting. Running low on time so you're just going to throw a random, half hearted post to fill your quota? Don’t do it. I rather have a good post a day later rather than a crappy one. No matter if you are just coming into Casual and barely reaching the minimums or writing paragraph after paragraph of Advanced level work, I want your post to be a good representation of what you can do.

-Following up on the Fonz rule, please be mindful of how often you post. Speed posting in the IC will take you towards a speedy path out of my roleplay. I'm quite understanding when it comes to being unable to post for a period of time so if for some reason you are gone for an extended amount of time or things are going to be slow for you, please tell me if you can.

-Have any suggestions or ideas, please tell me! Although I’m the GM, I’d love to have feedback and help creating this story.

Arrg, aye aye matie.

Welcome aboard!
If you could find a way to distinguish between Intuitive Foresight and the other power well enough I might let you use it but like you said there might be too much of an overlap. The ability to blink could work but I'll let you think about it and see if you have another idea.
