Name: Allison Yale
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Appearance: "Yadda yadda, technobabble, fixed yer robo."
Personality: A fun-loving woman with a brutally honest mind, Allison is the type who will make her opinions clear, good or bad. She has a tendency to tease her fellow crew mates, playfully ribbing at whatever gets the funniest reaction, though she takes care not to smash a berserk button, most of the time. When she's not harassing crew members, she's tuning up the ship, or her partner droid, designated as "RD-0000", or Rod for short. For someone with her proficiency in the field, as well as her dedication to perfection, it's quite surprising to learn that she isn't really fond of the jon; she just happens to be great at it. It's a living, after all. At least she got a decent ship to work on.
Skills: Pretty handy with a screwdriver. And various other tools. As in she can fix things. Mostly mechanical stuff. While not inclined towards combat, she has an uncanny skill to use her screwdrivers like throwing knives. And use her wrench as a bludgeon.
Equipment: Plenty of wrenches, screwdrivers, and her PDA, used to note down any faults she needs to get around to dealing with. She also has various larger tools in her quarters, and is accompanied by a drone that seems to serve no practical purpose, aside from stalking fellow crew members at random.
Brief Backstory: Having grown up in a family full of mechanics, engineers, construction workers (apparently, one of her ancestors was a super villain-in-training), Allison seemed fated to be yet another generic "Yale'll Repair It Real Well And Make It Better Also" member of the family, until one fateful day, when she happened to be the one called out to fix something for this Yuriko person. impressed with Allison's various talents, she was recruited by the diminutive captain, which Allison decided made a decent change of pace from standing around some garage all day.
Position in Crew: Mechanic
Stop being stupid, site.
Interest. Gonna go with a mechanic.

Uhh. Hmm. It was said to be powerful, however not much is known about it. Just that it is very old and legend says it leads the way to a powerful treasure. However that's just a legend right?

Well, not really sure if it should really be some powerful artifact.

Finished my app.

He seems to be combining Geomancy and Beastmaster skills there, which is a bit much for one character

Updated. let me know if I need to put some more work than the few more minutes I managed to squeeze in allowed me. Now off to work.

Looks fine. Accepted.

WanderingSpirit: ...Yeah, that character is beyond broken, I'm afraid. Omnniscient mind-readers who can warp reality should never be in any RP. Not to mention, demons in this setting aren't things that happen to be around; they exist, but no one knows this.

Ahh, my apologies Roxas, I can tweak his history, if you want, to make note that, prior to the armed takeover, since he was still part of the Empires forces at that point, most of his experience was with fighting monsters or working through the courts as a lower ranked Knight prior to the takeovers beginning.

That would be fine,

That's the problem. I'm having trouble with the Bio. I'm trying to make him a royal guard but for who ? I was thinking of making him Beastkin instead of human and saying he was a guard to the Queen of Quies. Feels like a coward for being ordered to flee with a sword the umbra wanted. Is that okay?

Well, why would Umbra want the sword, exactly?

The poster of Spectre are more to let people know the bounty and to call the guards if they see a hooded man.

That's the thing, though. I assume there's plenty of people who wear hoods. If they don't know what he actually looks like, the posters aren't going to help.
Added some info on the kingdoms in the OP. And as a reminder, Umbra conquered the other kingdoms eight years ago.

WanderingSpriit: Jannia is accepted.

Chocobo: Her age seems at odds with the timeline, there. When exactly When exactly did all of that occur? Since if this happened eight years ago... yeah.

Vita: Sophia is accepted.

Spectre: Accepted. Though I have to wonder ow much use those posters are when all they have is a hood, and his face doesn't seem to be known?

Eisenhorn: The character's fine, though keep in mind tat, prior to eight years ago, the Empire didn't really battle with anything, except maybe monsters getting too close to civilisation. Though that's my fault for not putting up the info beforehand.

Grey: The character's fine, but defeating a dragon alone would be nigh impossible (even Umbra's strongest warriors would take them seriously). Perhaps with a group, it would be possible, but they're the equivalent of end-game enemies here. And also stupidly rare, but eh.

Tatsua: Accepted.

For everyone else, I'll wait for the bios to be completed.
Life in general has taken a turn for the worse with just about everyone these days. Mass oppression tends to do that, unfortunately. Although no Kingdom was able to defend against Umbra's growing might, the embers of hope still burn within the hearts of the rebellion, a scattered force that hide away, under the Empire's very nose. All around the continent, small groups do what they can to oppose the Empire - from picking off soldiers to simply smuggling items underground to prevent them from falling into the Empire's grasp. Thoug the lack of reliable communications means that they're all essentially separate armies that just so happen to have a common enemy.

The cornerstone of the Empire's might seems to come from four specific generals, each wielding unfathomable power, and the biggest obstacle to wresting control of the continent from Umbra. Many have attempted to assassinate them, only to become examples of How Not To Anger The Evil Guys. Defeating them will prove difficult, but will surely be a huge boon to the rebel's success. Oh, but don't forget the thousands of soldiers under their command. Mooks may be mooks, but they're still enemies, after all.
Righty-ho, time to establish some stuff, I guess.

Magic:
Most people are born with at least some 'mana' in their system. All this really determines is how good you are at magic. Those with no mana whatsoever can't use it, but that's hardly a downside; magic is a truly tricky thing to master. Even if you get the basics down, it could take a very long time before you can move on to more advanced spells. Like... making bigger fires.

Additionally, while magic technically spans across many different variables, it's generally labelled under 'battle' magic and 'life' magic. Battle magic is pretty much your typical Black Mage deal: Fire, Thunder, Lotsafire, Toomuchthunder, Burn Everything To Ashes Tee Hee Hee and everything in-between. Likewise, Life magic involves healing, protection and recovery.

As for magic that doesn't specifically fit in either category... those who find their magic is tied strongly to the environment are known as Geomancers. Those who find that they can influence weak-minded monsters are known as Beast Mancers... there are even those who can summon beasts to fight in their stead.

The Races

Of course, humans aren't the only sentient race in the world. Sure, they're by far the most common race, but the rest are hardly minorities..

  • Beastkin: Although they seem to originate from Alacris and its surrounding territory, Beastkin are almost as widespread as humans themselves. And almost look as human as... well, humans. The main difference, physically, is that they also bear some semblance to beasts and animals. bearing strange ears, tails or other attributes. They also tend to live about twenty years shorter, on average.

  • Elves: Reclusive but not unheard of, these forest-dwellers may seem distant and cold, but they just generally prefer to keep to themselves. Notable perks for these guys is never dying of old age, and having a strong affinity for Life Magic.

  • Dwarves: These stout figures prefer the terrain of the mountains, and tend to be friendly chaps. Despite the stereotypes, dwarves aren't naturally master backsmiths; it's simply the most fun career prospect for them. Possessing great physical strength and endurance, there are few that can match a dwarf in sheer power.

  • The World

Before Umbra went and conquered everything, there were five kingdoms that made up the land. despite the occasional dispute, things were relatively peaceful between them all. Then everything changed when the Umbra Nation attacked.

Umbra: The reason things are the way they are now. Suddenly attacking the other kingdoms with immense military power, they were able to conquer the continent without too much hassle eight years ago. King Lumina, now the Emperor, seems a very different man from the good old days. Situated at the north, bordering the Northwestern frozen wasteland of Gelum.
Gelum: A land with few humans and many powerful creatures stalking the lands. Wen it comes to natural defenses and difficult terrain, this place certainly ranks up there. Despite the harsh conditions, what few people live there seem more than capable. Just a shame they were soundly beaten despite the home advantage.
Quies: Spanning the center of the land, this particular kingdom was the smallest, but get bonus points for making a living in a desert land. They had just starting pioneering sand-powered technology when Umbra went and started trouble. Quite sad, really. Their former ruler was a Beastkin, Queen Seraphine.
Solum: Solum, ruled primarily by the dwarves, is noted for being almost entirely mountainous or underground. Its borders stretching from the south to the east of the continent, this was the last Kingdom to fall to Umbra. The king and queen reportedly fell in battle, taking a sizable chunk of the Empire's army with them,
Alacris: Situated in the Southwest, Alacris is noted for its general distaste of warfare, and even tried to negotiate peace with Umbra amidst all the invading. So tey're not the most warrior-ey of the Kingdoms, unfortunately. At least the rebels based there know better by now.

    The Sign Up

  • Name:

  • Age:

  • Race:

  • Appearance:

  • Abilities:

  • History:

  • Okay, think that'll do for now. Feel free to ask about stuff and such.
Goodie, I'll have an OOC up later today.
The attack was sudden, swift and brutal.

The Kingdom of Umbra, normally a peaceful land that spanned the north of the continent, suddenly invaded its neighbouring countries with overwhelming military force. One by one, the lands of Quies, Solum, Alacris and Gelum fell, despite their best efforts to negotiate peace and defend themselves. The once-kind king of Umbra declared himself emperor of the world, and an age of oppression and misery began.

It has only been eight short years since Umbra conquered the other kingdoms, and attempts to fight back still occur to this day. Several warriors remain at large, such as the mysterious "Princess", or the leader of the Quies-based rebel army, "Shu". Of course, no one person can stand up to the might of Umbra, and the Empire's generals have proven time and again that an army is unnecessary to aid them in raining absolute destruction and devastation upon their enemies, but some people are just too stubborn to let the tyrants win.

Are you strong enough to fight an empire?

    ----------------------------------

So yeah. Evil Empire is Evil. Go fix that.

Originally intended as a Final Fantasy RP, now made more generic for the sake of making it a tad more accessible. While FF classes are used as rough templates for characters' abilities, there isn't a strict Fighter/Black Mage/Monk/Thief system.

Eight years since the Empire established world control, things haven't quite been as cheery as they used to be. Blatant extortion and torture is a regular occurrence, racism runs rampant, and crime has never seen such a nurturing age. There are some rural locations that are relatively unaffected by the terrible situation, but that's not going to last much longer.

The setting is your generic fantasy land. Swords are the weapon of choice, elves, dwarves and animal-eared people aren't uncommon, and Slimes are the adventurer's first obstacle to traversing the world and/or fighting an empire. Firearms technically exist, but they're simply magical tools that fire not bullets, but the mage's concentrated mana.

    So... yeah. Anyone interested?
