Current Trying to get back into the swing of things (for a 2nd time!)

Bio

Hi there I'm Rultaos, or simply Rult as some of my friends call me. I first got into RP'ing on two different sites back when I was in High School. The forums of the games Minecraft and Spiral Knights. Both had game-related RP's, as well as off-topic ones regarding fantasy and sci-fi. This was around 3-4 years ago. I wasn't really good at it back then, but I met a lot of great people and feel like I really improved since then.

For any of you who are curious, this was one of my biggest RP undertakings before I got into this site (My username also comes from this as a tribute to it!). It's not really a very well-written roleplay (or a very well-managed one for that matter). But it really meant a lot to me because of how far it went, how long it survived, and how it inspired my fellow players there. It always fills me with a sense of nostalgia whenever I glance at it in my bookmarks...

I got into RPGuild back when it was still using the old server (the one that got taken down after Mahz got behind on his pay and the providers ended their service without warning). I was pretty bummed when this happened because I was already actively participating in a number of roleplays, and I could only stay in contact with a select few guildmates on the Facebook group. Eventually, the long wait was over, and the site was given renewed life after a few bumps in the road that guildmaster Mahz faced in his attempts to resurrect this place. It was a good day for many including myself when this site slowly started getting more and more features.

2014 was my second year in college and was a very stressful time for me. Mostly concerning academics, with a few occasional problems regarding friends and fellow students alike. Because of this, I had to suddenly drop out of roleplaying for a while in order to have the time to get my real life back in order.

Now, I've returned to the site, and am hoping to get back into the groove of roleplaying and make more great friends and have even greater adventures through whatever huge universe your brilliant minds can think of! If you wanna invite me to play, or even just have a friendly chat about anything, send a message my way and I'll reply as soon as I can =)

For those of you who are wondering, my roleplay interests include: Sci-Fi, Military, sometimes Fantasy, a Fandom one if I'm familiar with the source material, heck I'd be willing to dabble in an Apocalypse setting as well. I'm also willing to try new things as well if it seems fascinating enough. So hit me up with an idea any time and I'd be happy to share my thoughts with you.

Well, I feel like I've used up enough for your time. Thanks for caring enough to read all this, and I hope you enjoy your roleplay adventures as much as I have in the past and the present ^_^

Name: Karadar Trenact
Age: 28
Gender: Male

Affinity: Holy Knight

Appearance (Normal): Karadar has relatively long, un-cut hair, and rugged facial hair. His eyes are a shade of blue which reflects his personality. He is usually seen with either a smile or a stern expression. No one was seen him angry yet. He stands slightly taller than most men his age, which adds to his commanding look. He usually wears a white cloak with a golden insignia of the cross of Kyr on the back, when heading out. Inside the Guild and other buildings, he wears his usual matching set of white shirt and pants. A sword in its belt-sheath is also carried around in case of emergencies, along with a cross of Kyr for quick prayers.

Personality: Honorable, chivalrous, and religious to the core, Karadar is the embodiment of a Holy Knight. To townsfolk, he is gentle and caring. To his allies however, it is another story. He practices Holy Knight traditions to the letter, and expects his colleagues to do their duties with the same amount of devotion. He respects his superiors and follows orders to the best of his ability. However, he is just as good of a leader as he is a follower. He strives to keep his troops at the top of their game, but this means he can be more strict than necessary. Often to the point of having them carry out nonsensical drills and training. He does not discriminate between religions however (and is tolerant, at best), as he is fully aware that in order for his men to function as team, they need to trust and respect one another. He may not always show it, but he firmly believes that his squad will do the right thing when it comes down to the wire.

Biography: Born as the son of a Knight Captain and a farmer, Karadar was indoctrinated at an early age into the Knight’s code of honor. His mother had a reputation as a feared and respected commander, and Karadar wished to carry on that legacy. His parents noted his Holy Knight traits as he grew (always praying, helping his friends, and refusing to miss their church day). His mother brought the information to her superiors, who decided to put him through Magic Knight training.

Much of his adolescence was spent in his Holy Knight training. Without having tasted much of any form of luxury, Karadar was a skilled and disciplined warrior. Once he was 25, he was made into an official member of the Excalibur Guild of Zerandar. Throughout his time with the guild, he continuously rose up the ranks and gained the favor of his superiors and the Guildmaster. At the age of 27, he gained the permanent rank of squad leader, as the one in charge of Libra Squad. One year later, a magical experiment gone wrong took the lives of Capricorn Squad (although technically, they’re just trapped in another dimension. But that’s of no concern to us), and the existing members of Libra were re-assigned to fill in the missing roles.

Freshly recruited Magic Knights were assigned to the new Libra Squad, in the hopes that Karadar’s leadership will pull the newbies together.

Arsenal:
- Blessed, golden-hilted sword
- Blessed kite-shield, with golden cross design
- Knight of Kyr armor
- Cross of Kyr (Religious trinket)
- One vial of blessed water
OOC is ready!!! Along with a name change, so it rolls off the tongue better

Head on over to the thread and get your Character Sheets up.
A long time ago, in a land far far away... Bah! You’ve heard this a thousand times already haven’t you? Alright, I’ll just get to the point then. Some time ago in this strange land (which we shall call “Lanquar”), a man who was too curious for his own good managed to unlock the secret to an ancient art known as “Magic”.

By now you’re probably thinking: “Who’s never discovered magic before in fantasy lands?”. Well you see, these people were a little dimwitted and discovered magic much later than other fantasy universes, so don’t be too hard on them.

Anyway, upon discovering magic, the kings in charge of the different kingdoms decided that such a powerful ability had to be kept under control. So, they decreed that magic should only be used by a select few. Another reason was the fact that only some special people displayed a natural affinity for magic at a young age. They were to be taken and trained to master their powers, and act as elite soldiers of their kingdom. Those who were to become magic-users were called by the kings as “Magic Knights”. Genius.

In response, the population revolted, saying it was unfair, and launched several rebellions. That is, until one of the rebel leaders learned magic and accidentally burned himself to death. After that, the commoners calmed down and agreed to the rule.

As a result, each kingdom created a guild that housed each of their Magic Knights (and each had a signature shaped table design!). And these guilds were tasked with protecting the lands and people of their respective kingdoms. Because of their exceptional control of magic, they were able to maintain peace within their land, and scare off any would-be enemies.

However, this peace would not last forever. Sinister forces are stirring, evil tides are tossing, monstrous machinations are mobilizing, And bad baddies are... Screw it, you get the point! And who else is there to stop them but, The Knights of the Shaped Tables!

Oh I can tell this is going to be an interesting journey... And it all starts with the Magic Knights of the Zerandar Kingdom; The Excalibur Guild.

To be more specific, the fresh recruits of the newly formed Libra Squad.

I'd go into a long message about how awesome and great Mahz is, but I'm sure he already knows that from what everyone has said. So I'll just say that I am one of the hundreds of other people who are overflowing with joy to see RPGuild coming back to life. Thank you for not giving up

IGN - Apollo Winter
Nickname - App
Age - 18
Gender – Male

Persona - Growing up, Adrian Winter was known as the “smart kid”. He had good grades all around, but was never good at socializing. In the real world, he is not great at speaking with others. He is also rather reserved and pacifistic in real life. In the game world however, he finds it easier to speak and make friends with people, and uses his intelligence to concoct battle strategies to hit the enemy where it hurts. He prefers to avoid rushing into a fight, and takes the time to analyze the situation. Because of this, most people call him “App”, because he acts like an application for making battleplans. However, his more complex plans require to be carried out exactly, so if something unexpected happens, Apollo needs time to think of a new one altogether. And time is a rare luxury in Kakophonia.

Brief background – Adrian was born to the wealthy Winter Family, the owner of the Winter Group, a large business conglomerate.Despite this, his parents made sure he was never pampered in order to make sure he had a good personality. They wanted him to focus on studies in order to continue the family line. Thus, he was sent to prestigious schools where he followed his parents’ instructions and strived for excellence. Unfortunately, this was at the sacrifice of his social skills, and he had trouble making friends. One because of his looks, and two because of how intimidated people became when they hear that he is the son of the Winter family.
Soon afterwards, he was introduced into the world of online games, and Adrian found out that he had an easier time with people online. More so because he could choose to look like anything he wished, and no one knew that he was the next in line for the Winter Group.
His parents rewarded his good grades with the online video games he asked for. They also thought it would help with his socialization problems. When the hyped-up VR game: “Threshold of Kakophonia” was released to the public, his parents used their influence to get him one of the first few copies in their area.

Upon logging in, their Adrian Winter adopted the virtual persona: Apollo Winter.

The Titanpad isn't as active as I assumed it would be, so I guess we'll just discuss Magic abilities in the OOC. It's almost done, so just wait a little longer :)

I never got my question answered... can i have a sort of hybrid knight? like a fire using blood knight or something like that?

Actually I answered it in the last thread. I guess you didn't see it before the site was restarted.

I said "no". Magic is restricted to specializations, the same way the Knights' personalities are distinct from one another. You can be something like a slightly-sadistic Elemental Knight if you want, but not as sadistic as Blood Knights. However, you cannot mix Magic styles.
Perhaps if you put more details and explanation as to what this RP is about instead of just "It's about cultures built around elements. Oh and it's medieval, fantasy, with armies and monsters"

Explain what these cultures are. Are they advanced or primitive? How do you display politics in your RP (since there are armies and leaders)? What are the defining characteristics of each element, and how do the people under respective elements behave?

You can't expect people to declare interest over something they don't know that much about. I'm not bashing you or anything. I'm just saying that some more information about the RP is needed for people to decide if it's interesting or not. Fantasy and Elements are so common and cliche that you need to put an original spin on it so it doesn't get boring, fast.
This should be enough people I'm working on the OOC now. Once, it's up, you can start posting applications. I'm also going to be using Titanpad so that we can discuss some of the Magic Skills. Drop by there whenever you can. I'll put up a back-up of the in-progress OOC there as well. I'm trusting you guys to not screw-up any of the work I've finished :)

I concur. It could become a distraction hazard if left unchecked.
