Current Trying to get back into the swing of things (for a 2nd time!)

Bio

Hi there I'm Rultaos, or simply Rult as some of my friends call me. I first got into RP'ing on two different sites back when I was in High School. The forums of the games Minecraft and Spiral Knights. Both had game-related RP's, as well as off-topic ones regarding fantasy and sci-fi. This was around 3-4 years ago. I wasn't really good at it back then, but I met a lot of great people and feel like I really improved since then.

For any of you who are curious, this was one of my biggest RP undertakings before I got into this site (My username also comes from this as a tribute to it!). It's not really a very well-written roleplay (or a very well-managed one for that matter). But it really meant a lot to me because of how far it went, how long it survived, and how it inspired my fellow players there. It always fills me with a sense of nostalgia whenever I glance at it in my bookmarks...

I got into RPGuild back when it was still using the old server (the one that got taken down after Mahz got behind on his pay and the providers ended their service without warning). I was pretty bummed when this happened because I was already actively participating in a number of roleplays, and I could only stay in contact with a select few guildmates on the Facebook group. Eventually, the long wait was over, and the site was given renewed life after a few bumps in the road that guildmaster Mahz faced in his attempts to resurrect this place. It was a good day for many including myself when this site slowly started getting more and more features.

2014 was my second year in college and was a very stressful time for me. Mostly concerning academics, with a few occasional problems regarding friends and fellow students alike. Because of this, I had to suddenly drop out of roleplaying for a while in order to have the time to get my real life back in order.

Now, I've returned to the site, and am hoping to get back into the groove of roleplaying and make more great friends and have even greater adventures through whatever huge universe your brilliant minds can think of! If you wanna invite me to play, or even just have a friendly chat about anything, send a message my way and I'll reply as soon as I can =)

For those of you who are wondering, my roleplay interests include: Sci-Fi, Military, sometimes Fantasy, a Fandom one if I'm familiar with the source material, heck I'd be willing to dabble in an Apocalypse setting as well. I'm also willing to try new things as well if it seems fascinating enough. So hit me up with an idea any time and I'd be happy to share my thoughts with you.

Well, I feel like I've used up enough for your time. Thanks for caring enough to read all this, and I hope you enjoy your roleplay adventures as much as I have in the past and the present ^_^

As the skies of Coruscant were decorated with missiles and blaster fire, a lone Republic Gunship made its way across the battle-ravaged cityscape. The clone pilot on board activated his comm-link and spoke. "We're approaching the assembly area of the 717th. E.T.A.: 2 minutes". Shutting off the communications, the pilots continued maneuvering the gunship through the deadly airspace. In the passenger area of the gunship stood four Clone Commandos with Chrome-designed armor. These were the members of Kappa squad.

Holding onto the railing, the squad was silent, with only the sound of blasters and explosions breaking the monotony. Eventually, one of the members put his hand up to his helmet as he spoke into his comm link. "Yes sir... Yes okay I'll patch you through..." He said. With that, he pulled out a holo link and tossed it to the ground as the hologram of a Phase-II clone trooper appeared on it. "You enjoying your vacation to Coruscant Kappa Squad?" The clone said.

One of the commandos (with a clone pilot symbol scrawled on his helmet), piped up. "This wasn't in the brochure at all. They never said anything about being able to blast droids for free!" He said with cheerfulness. "Cool it, Cockpit" The squad leader said. "So, why'd you call us?" He continued. The clone on the hologram turned to the squad leader. "I'm here to brief you on your objectives, Kappas. The gunship will bring you to the assembly area of the 717th. Their job, is to recapture the airfield so we have a chance of establishing air superiority over the separatists. You are to get down there, and assist them in any way you can. After the airfield has been secured, you have orders to bring air support to the Jedi Temple. Intel reports that a large assault is going to take place there. So the sooner we get help to them, the better. I will relay further orders as we proceed. Good luck down there." The clone explained. And with that, the holo-link shut off.

The commando who dropped it, picked it back up and placed it in his backpack, which seemed to have a communications set on it. "What kind of Separatists would be suicidal enough to attack the Jedi Temple?" He said. "I don't know, Radio. But we're obviously dealing with some dangerous enemies here if they dared to attack Coruscant." The squad leader said. Suddenly, they heard the pilots shout to them.

"We're at the assembly area. LZ is hot! Hold on Kappas!" The pilot said. With that, the gunship doors opened, and the turrets of the ship fired upon a force of B1 Battledroids, and Super Battle Droids engaging some clones of the 717th in a firefight. The clones looked up, cheered, and shouted thanks for the support. The gunship reduced their altitude, and the 4 commandos of Kappa squad began rappelling down from the gunship. Once they were on the ground, the gunship closed its doors and began flying off into the fray, possibly to complete other objectives.

The squad leader approached the clone squad and saluted. "Kappa Squad of the Special Operations Brigade, reporting. We need to see your commander." He said. The clone in charge of the unit saluted back. "Our commander is at the Forward Operating Base. 87 will take you there." He said, gesturing at one of his soldiers. "You can call me Tremor, sir." 87 said. "And you can call me Spotter. Now take us to your commanding officer" The squad leader said, turning to the clone trooper. "Yes sir!" He said as he began running off, away from the frontline. Kappa squad followed closely behind, DC-17's in hand.

Rult, we should probably wait for Yog, seeing as he is going to be rping the Jedi in our squad.

Well... I didn't exactly agree to being Temple protection. Though I did say I was willing to work with anyone in the Jedi or GAR. The objective of my squad is to assist both. Working on an IC now.

The RP wont be so straight forward ;) As i said expect hurdles along your journey :D

Well, that's the battleplan. If the situation changes, they'll just have to re-adapt

Also, I'll make my IC in the morning, it's very late where I am right now...
My squad intends to assault the airfield.and then bring back the cavalry for the Temple defense if they can hold out that long =)
Alright! Can't wait to blast away some droids. And maybe a CIS leader and bounty hunter if they're lucky...

So, does anyone want a Commando Squad working with them? (Or maybe against them?)
No worries man, as long as the interest still remains high enough to keep it going =). Also, I might as well post my character here now as well. If you guys believe I should write up some Character Sheets for the other squad members, just let me know. Otherwise, I can just let their personalities be known through the course of the RP. Also, feel free to let me know if I make any mistakes lore-wise. I'll admit that I'm not the most knowledgeable Star Wars fan.
”Why don’t you try shooting the enemy instead of just spotting them?”

Name: RC-4129 “Spotter”/”29”

Age: Accelerated aging has made his age ambiguous, though he looks to be in his late thirties
Sex: Male
Affiliation: Grand Army of The Republic, Commando Squad Leader

Physical Description:

Underneath the armor, he resembles every other Clone in the GAR. Though he is bald, and has a tattoo of a third eye on his forehead.

Mental Description: Trained with his squad from his days as a child on Kamino, Spotter has a strong bond with them. He is willing to put himself in the line of fire for his squad, but he also believes them to be capable enough to complete their duties. Excelling in psychological analysis during his training years, Spotter is able to predict the behavior of both allies and enemies, and often takes that into account for his next move. As a Commando, he is hardwired to follow orders to the letter, and often will not care for the loss of allies as long as it helps get the mission done. However, he is also granted a mind slightly more independent than other Commandos to allow for advanced tactics on the battlefield. It is only when his squad is on the line that he begins to question commands. But like every clone, his loyalty to the Republic comes before any personal agendas.

History: Born and raised on Kamino, his role in the GAR was decided for him as he began commando training at an early age. He gained mediocre marks on many technical and combat exercises, and for a while they were unable to find anything special about him, other than an above average ability for psychological analysis. It was during his combat simulation training that he shined.

He showed exceptional skill in locating enemy targets and points of interest. They tested him further, and very few objects managed to escape his heightened awareness. He excelled even further when put in charge of his squad for the simulations. His skills in psychological analysis were honed, and he managed to both predict and counter several tactics thrown against his squad. His ability to spot both physical targets and enemy battle tactics earned him the nickname: “Spotter”.

His and his squad’s first taste of battle, like many other clones, was the bloodbath during the Battle of Geonosis, after being assigned into the Special Operations Brigade (as many other commandos). The confusion of the hastily ordered attack on the CIS planet resulted in many casualties, but through skill and luck, Spotter’s team, Kappa Squad, managed to get off the planet alive while completing many (though not all) of their objectives. A few superiors took note of their squad’s ability to be able to formulate and execute battleplans on the field as the situation changed, and they found themselves being sent into quite a few high-risk operations throughout the Clone Wars. They fought behind the scenes in the liberation of Ryloth, assisted in the defenses at the Battle of Kamino, and saw action on the dark moon of Umbara.

Umbara was where Spotter’s abilities were put to the ultimate test. Facing an enemy that they had little to no information about, and working with no reinforcements and jammed communications, Kappa Squad had to take in and use new information during every second of a firefight. New hostile weaponry forced them into hiding into any corner they could find and re-evaluating their situation. Once they had a new plan, they would start moving again, until another unexpected element stood in their way. Eventually, they managed to succeed in destroying an Umbaran munitions facility, and weakened the enemy forces enough to give the GAR a better chance to assault the capital. They managed to emerge from the moon alive, though they were both physically and mentally bruised, battered, and battle-weary.

They had a few other close calls, but somehow, they would always manage to get every member of the squad back alive.

Now, they are being called into action on the capital planet of Coruscant as the Droid Army makes landfall. With odds so overwhelmingly stacked against the Republic, Kappa Squad may end up being forced to choose between Orders and Brothers...

Equipment:
- Katarn-Class Commando Armor Mark-III
- DC-17m (Blaster/Sniper/Anti-Armor attachments)
- DC-15s Side-arm blaster
- Arm-Gauntlet Vibroblade
- Thermal Detonators
- Helmet-mounted Rangefinder (looks like the one on Spades' helmet in the pic)
- Breaching charges (For getting through locked doors)
- His team: Kappa Squad

I thought Coruscant was already invaded at the start of episode 3, and, are Dooku and Grievous dead in our timeline?

Well... the invasion of Coruscant during the Clone Wars was a ploy to kidnap Palpatine in order to evade Mace Windu's investigation. The attack in this RP seems to be a complete takeover of the planet. And, canonically Dooku and Grievous are dead at this point. However, given that we're in an alternate timeline, a lot of things could've turned out differently. It's probably best to wait for the GM's word on this.
DaDrummer676 said Edit: When is this roleplay taking place in exactly? So I can line up the battles that have already happened. Because Spades'history is going to be entirely composed of the battles he has been in, and his special training.

Well, if I read the OP right, this roleplay takes place after the entire prequel trilogy (Episodes 1 to 3). Meaning every battle in the movies and Clone Wars series has already taken place. This is an alternate universe where the Republic lives on, but so does the CIS. And the CIS waited to build up their forces to launch a brutal attack on Coruscant, where our roleplay is centered around.

Need a Jedi Padawan buddy for your squad once the fighting starts?

As long as he doesn't get in the way of the team. Commandos gain their strength from team coordination, the way an ancient Spartan phalanx works with each man working to help the others. If the GM approves of this, then my squad will be open to a padawan's assistance as long as he's a team player =)

Well I made an ARC trooper, which is basically the same so you should be able to make a clone commando. He could even work with Spades if you'd like.

It's not that he's a Commando. But the fact that I'l either be in control of 4 characters, or 1 character and 3 NPC's. I just dunno if that will work out for the GM. Though I wouldn't have a problem working with Spades =). But Spades' high independence might cause some problems when they're given morally questionable orders, considering Commandos are more obedient than ARC's.
