That attack stung, but now he had the battlefield advantage. He played the Reptile Ride to gain maneuverability, climbing on the beast as he prepared to charge his opponent. Playing his own Throwing Chakram, he threw the bladed disc such that it would bounce into his opponents blind spot before rebounding towards her. With a second Arcane Longsword, he charged at his opponent to deal a dangerous slash. His Sentry was given the order to attack any creature the bitch summoned.

Hunter had finally managed disassembling the last of the guards, the walls coated in the blood of his foes, when the mercenary lass walked in. Apparently the captain had sent her here to help out, though that was kind of unnecessary. Out of politeness he responded to her question.
"Eh, the bastards didn't get much of a chance to call out for help. The screaming might have ticked off some of the remaining guards, but I guess we'll just have to deal with that later."
He joined his crewmate in walking towards the holding cells. That line she had muttered was starting to niggle away at him. Deciding that the only way to get an answer was to ask, he cleared his throat to get her attention.
"What rumours have ye heard about me? Of course, the mysterious Deadeye should be no stranger to exaggerated tales, though ye really ain't that much of a mystery, marine girl."

"Tch... you uncouth knave. It's clear I will have to put you down myself." Ryteb said, angered by the Scallywag. He played the Arcane Longsword and Sturdy Sentry. Charging forward, he slashed straight through the Scallywag.
"Continue the attack men! Take down this wench in the name of our Lord!" He yelled, charging forward to engage his opponent.

Xythae Empire

Name: The Xythae Empire

Flag: A golden star on a black background

Type of Government: Feudal

Description of Government: The empire is ruled by an Emperor, who is the absolute authority and Commander of the Military. Below him are the Kings, or Queens, who govern a solar system. For each planet in the system, the King has an equal number of Dukes. Under the Duke are Earls of an amount equal to the continents on the planet, or the number of individual cities divided by five on planets without. Serving the Earls are the Lords, one for each town or city under their jurisdiction. The Archmagi are a group of seven Daenizens with the mutation of ‘magic’, and are treated as higher than Kings, second only to the Emperor.

Main race: The Daenizens. A race of technologically advanced beings, with an appearance close to fantasy Elves, but instead of petite and slender frames, each is built like a powerful warrior. A subspecies known as the Magi are able to use what they call magic to perform spells of a particular school. These schools are the Five Elements, the Seven Virtues, and the One Mind.

Minority races: Humans
The Draconi, also known as the Dragonkin, are a warrior race from the planet of Drakon. Annexed into the Xythae Empire after the Dragon Wars, roughly 2300 years ago. When Emperor Ryzeph XI visited them, fifty years after the end of the war, he was so astounded by their battle ability that he gave them the honour of becoming the Emperor’s Legion. Even though the last Emperor has been dead for centuries, the Draconi mark it as a point of pride that the Daenizen capital of Embla has never been captured, even by other Daenizens. When the rest of the Xythae Empire fell, they had little choice but to surrender, or else risk losing Embla.

Demography: 20% humans, 70% Daenizens, 10% Draconi

Religion: The empire worships the C’reth, a pantheon of gods worshiped since before the Daenizens built their empire. Only three have regular worship however. These are Arkain, the God of Knowledge and patron of the Magi, Aveonn, the God of War and protector of the Emperor, and Xythaen, Lord of Fate.
Xythaen has the most prominent role in worship. According to legend, he was the first Emperor of the original Xythae Empire, who was called to the heavens due to his power. It is said that he has watched over the empire for aeons, and will return in their time of greatest threat.

Culture: Their culture is very similar to medieval Europe, though of course with better technology and hygiene. Honour is a key factor in attaining standing in the nobility, and has led to commoners reaching the level of kings. Justice is swift, any who break the laws laid down by a superior and punished with little need for courts. In most cases it is not severe punishment, however the Emperor’s laws are punishable by death for breaking. As it might suggest, the Emperor is a position protected by the gods, and is unquestionable once he has proven his worth.
The Daenizens are a warring race, though this is also their downfall. Without an Emperor, they are constantly at each others throats, old grudges and petty feuds causing a perpetual cycle of death. But if there’s one thing they hate more than a rival becoming Emperor, it’s having another race ruling over them.

History: 800 years ago, the Xythae Empire was among the largest in the galaxy, boasting control of a quarter of the galaxy. Unfortunately the death of the Emperor made it collapse in on itself. With no clear heir, the various factions within the empire began to war over who would take the throne. These wars were known as the Fracturing, and led to much of their territory being lost. By the time the Empire arrived, they were a shadow of their former selves, being only a thousandth of their once glorious empire.
The Empire installed a puppet Emperor, as the Daenizens wouldn't dare question him due to their faith. Up until recently, the Xythae Empire have simply been vessels of the Empire, until the Emperor Xythaen killed the pretender on the throne, and brought his people into open rebellion against the Empire. A foolish endeavour, but better than serving under a false god.

Important characters:
Zane Alkeim/Emperor Xythaen the Second: The leader of the Xythae Empire, he is regarded as the first true Emperor since the Fracturing. Hailed as the second coming of Xythaen, with his black hair, green eyes and impressive stature, to many it’s like a statue of the god came to life. Wielding the Black Regalia, a giant sword said to be used by the first Emperor, and piloting the Deus ex Machina, he is a sight to behold on the battlefield. Even without these, he regularly spars with his Draconi legion, holding his own even against the more powerful race. He took to the throne by storming into the Grand Palace in his golden armour, and slaying the puppet emperor and his sycophants. Though he is a proud fighter, he knows his weaknesses, and delegates much of the logistics and political affairs to his advisors.
Ryteb Pyarros: Leader of the Archmagi, and hailing from the school of Five Elements. Considered by many to be the brains behind the Emperor, his strategies are what allowed the Xythae to stand up the more powerful Empire. A short and effeminate Daenizen, his youth makes people question his skills, but his quick tongue and mastery over fire.
Zamuri Drakonson: A proud Draconi and general of the Emperor’s Legion. generations his family has led the defence of Embla, protecting it from the ambitious Daenizens and the Empire. Even in occupation, they have been working to protect the true secrets of the capital from falling into enemy hands. Ever since Zane defeated him in Tzk Bha, his life has been sworn to serving Zane. An old soldier, he is pretty inflexible in his ways, but his experience makes him a tactician of equal standing to Archmage Pyarros.
Duke Felix de la Lune Noire: In his official capacity, he is the chief diplomat of the Xythae Empire. Under the surface, however, he is master of the Darkmoon; a group of assassins and spies that has been in service to the Emperor since ages past. After the empire fractured, they acted as freelance agents, providing aid to the highest bidder. Felix is Zane’s half brother and the darkness to his light. While Zane removed the traitors from Embla, Felix brought the Darkmoon clan back under heel as servants of the true Emperor. Acting the fool in public, he hides a clear insight and a ruthlessness befitting the head of the Darkmoon.

Description of Military:
Spartoi Infantry: The basic unit in the Xythae army, they wear the basic Noldar Armour without any enhancements. They are equipped with high powered crossbows, and ion sabres.
Kentaurus Knights: The shock troops of the army, these men have jets as well as shock absorbing enhancements on their armour. Factoring in their gun lances, they make a devastating force, especially against opponents with low anti air weapons.
Khimera Berserkers: Heavily armoured warriors who charge into the fray. Wielding their giant two handed axes, they cleave through the enemy with their strength.
Minotaurus Mechs: The equivalent of Tanks in the Daenizen armies, these are soldiers who are either too old or too crippled to fight in regular exosuits. They pilot the mechs with their minds, creating a powerful 15’ tall behemoth with the fighting prowess of a skilled Daenizen. Equipped with a blade, axe, or a lance (depending on their service), these figures lead the charge into the fray.
Demigod Paladins: Elite troops of the Daenizens, and the highest position on the battlefield. They pilot the Deus ex Machina, a silver mech designed to look like Xythaen, and standing 20ft tall. Their weapon of choice is up to the individual, but is usually a sword.
The Emperor’s Legion: Consisting entirely of Draconi, these are considered the pride of the Xythae Empire. With the Draconi being able to take on the Daenizens even before they had access to the technology of the more advanced race, they are now truly a sight to behold. Even the Empire suffered massive losses before they finally secured the Daenizen home world.
Harpi Fighters: Light spacecraft designed around attack power and manoeuvrability. Able to compete with much larger vehicles in terms of firepower, its defences are so lacking that one decent shot can take it out.
Gryffon Carrier: A transport vessel, that can be outfitted with a Gorgon Artillery to become a bomber.
Pheonyx Light Cruiser: A combat vessel designed to house 5-10 Harpi Fighters along with about 500 personal. These make up a large part of the armada.
Wyvern Destroyers: Medium Cruisers which act as defensive measures. Possessing much higher armour, they’re main offensive capacity is in ramming opposing ships and having the military troops storm in the breach.
Drakon Dreadnoughts: Names after the home world of the Emperor’s Legion, these massive ships act as mobile fortresses in ship battles. At 6km in length, and almost half that in width, they are more akin to mobile battlestations rather than ships. hese behemoths possess equipment to facilitate long term battles, such as repair stations and medical bays. They are lacking in offensive weaponry, and are extremely slow moving. Without their fleet, these are essentially sitting ducks.
Embla: The capital planet of the Xythae Empire had been hoLlowed out over millennia of resource gathering and population expansion. The Grand Palace acts as a nerve center to the fleet, possessing a communications system that allows people to contact any member of the fleet.

Technology: Their technology is equal to that of humanity in matters pertaining to warfare, though lacking in other respects. The pinnacle of this is the Noldar Armour, a modular suit that is custom built for each soldier and designed to allow units to swap between various roles. The basic version used by the Spartoi Infantry is a full body exosuit which gives protection from most conventional firearms. In addition, the suits provide basic life support, and can allow the wearer to survive without external air for about 5 minutes.

Fair enough. Considering my officers wear mech suits, the electromagnetism isn't required. Plush it makes it a bit more medieval if I have the Infantry carrying shields.

@Ryteb Pymeroce Nice. Cool history tbh. I guess that the feudal system wouldn't be replaced, but rather humans added another step to it. Above your Emperor is the Human IMMORTAL GOD EMPEROR THORISAN, who would be in direct command of your ruler. Like a monarchy really. Of course the large ships above your capital and the ships in orbit definetly take away from that feel, but the system won't change.

Tech still aches, its like a small cut that just wont go away. I considering the long standing history of your somehow not galactic empire, I can agree with human tech level. Medival twist is okay, but please spare me the laser crossbow. Thats like a plasma weapon without any mechanisms of a plasma weapon. Magnetic crossbows and kinetic longbows sound legit tho, if you think you can live without shiny beams of energy. I dig ion swords tho, even if they don't make any sense.

On the subject of modular armor, its basically the same level as human exo-armor, which enchants movement, offers relative protection from small arms and improvised weapons, but not from anything larger. I guess yours could do much more raw protection, being medival and all that. If you intend to go with that magnetic field, then I wish that you'd severly nerf that, or maybe add it as an attachment to shields that soldiers carry. An armor that negates all forms of attacks with relative ease and no obvious drawbacks (not according to your description) sounds way too OP.

This won't matter that much when we make the events in IC, but I feel like its important to set the rules of power. Imagine breaking free very quickly with advanced tech and then rampaging the while friggin galaxy cause you have so much power. Ruins the desperate feel this RP is trying to convey. Plus it would raise the question whether the humans were even able to conquer everyone.

Yeah... that was kinda my fuck up when explaining the magnetic field. The concept I was going with was that they never discovered gunpowder. So, as they were using less powerful crossbows, they figured out that using a magnetic field could bend the trajectory of the bolts making it a non lethal blow. A side effect was that it neutralised laser fire, due to it dispersing the electromagnetic waves.

About 2000BE. Emperor Xythaen the First ruled around 4000BE, though that was before they entered space. The lastory Emperor before Zane died about 500BE

Ryteb grinned through Lyran's features at his opponent as he took the first move. The opponent was a woman, but he couldn't go easy in this fight.

"I'll start by playing the Foul Marksman and Lizard Soldier."

As he played the cards, they appeared in reality. In his hand formed a longsword which hummed with Arcane power. To his right, a crazy Lizard man wielding an axe and shield. The monster gave a prideful roar, knowing he was the strongest warrior. Behind him, a squad of putrid Orcs roared and cheered, as they prepared for combat.

"Archers, FIRE!" He said, raising his hand like a practicedancer general. The Orcs whooped, and began raining down arrows on the priestess. With a nod from his master, the Lizard also ran into the fray, swinging his axe at the lady.

@6slyboy6 Fine, I'll say the tech level is about human level with a medieval twist. As for the war thing, it was the only way I could think to have the feudal system still in effect. I suppose I could say humans took the power away from the kings and their subordinates, causing them to openly rebel when Zane led the Draconi to war.
