Bio

Long timer roleplayer, been at it for... god, almost 15 years now all told. Hasn't been all sunshine and roses, but I like to think I've improved somewhat steadily as time has gone on.

I generally like to play older characters, or at least toward the higher end of an age range. Also, just about all of my characters are caring and protective in some capacity, even the rare meanie that I make.

I play a mixture of male and female characters. I myself am a guy.

Generally speaking I try to post at least once per week.

My oh my. I'll be under pressure myself to measure up to some of these tough guys.
Annabeth Stagitta- Lamia Scale

Niti was bitter. She should have expected it, in hindsight; for a healing magic practitioner to not be able to save a comrade was distressing enough, let alone having somebody else swoop in and solve the problem with nary a word in addition to it.

"I suppose I am. I owe you an apology, Niti. I should've offered you an explanation, and I didn't. Too wrapped up in myself, as usual."

At that point, Niti asked politely yet forcefully about her secret that she so very much wanted kept. She paused, deep in thought for a moment while she pondered what to say. The young healer was certainly owed his answer, but was he owed that much? No, she finally decided- the less people knew about that secret, the better. However, that did not mean he couldn't be made privy to the bit that concerned him.

"Alright, listen carefully, I can't say this very loud..." she began as she leaned in to whisper, so that only they two could hear, "The reason your healing spells weren't able to restore Jeanne is because of her own magic. It's very powerful, but such power comes at a price- if she overtaxes herself, like she did in Augustine, it causes a backlash that results in her own power trying to consume her. It's a continuous damage, like a disease, but because it's her magic any healing arts designed to combat such things don't recognize it as hostile. And if they never identify the source of the damage..."

She paused to watch Niti piece the puzzle together. Part of nurturing was letting the younglings figure out some conclusions on their own, after all. And with his skill and knowledge, Anna was certain he would understand.

"Now, the reason I was able to take care of it is because the magic itself needs to be harnessed and essentially pulled off of its victim. I know how to do that, because I used to use that very magic. In fact... Jeanne received her magic, albeit indirectly, from me. I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner, but when I saw what was happening... I knew time was of the essence, and I acted as quickly as I could."

"But, you know..." she continued, musing to herself in the standard volume of casual speech, "Usually, that backlash spreads so quickly that there's almost no time to react to it. By the time I got to her, Jeanne should have been nearly gone... but the damage was limited to her torso. I think she has you to thank for that, Niti. Being able to hold off the Vengeful Curse is a great feat- most healers would simply be overwhelmed. It's something to be proud of, beyond any doubt. Perhaps one day you'll be strong enough to fight it off completely, if you keep practicing."

Reaching a hand out, Anna smiled warmly as she gently ruffled Niti's red hair. A pat on the shoulder was her final gesture before rising and stretching her arms.

"I suppose I'd best get back to the main hall, there may be something that needs doing. Oh, and Niti?" she said as she turned back toward the soap mage on her way out, "If you ever need anything, I'm always here."

And with that, she made her way out to the hall proper.

I'll post later this evening. Haruna, you said in the pad you had something in store for Anna before GMG starts, do we want to work that out shortly thereafter?

Drafting some information for Wilhelm's other 2 wives and his estate. When we all decide we'd like to phase out of the selection I'll make a nice, big post for all of that.
Apparently you can't just launch with an IC, you have to make the thread starting with the OOC and THEN write the IC first post. Despite the UI giving you the option to do the opposite.
Ah, it does. Good.
The dust settled as Cid shakily hovered to the ground, his breath ragged from the intense fight he’d just been through. Durandel, the Aegislash he’d been locked in combat with, lay on the ground across from him, defeated. On either side of them stood the two trainers; on one side, ruby red cloak billowing about her in the wind, was Remy Charlevoix. On the other, his azure coat having long since been removed and placed over one of his defeated companions, was Dan Halen. His jaw was set in a grim lock, his teeth grinding together. There was good reason for it; that blasted phantom sword had almost single-handedly destroyed his entire team. It had taken the combined efforts of Yuna, Auron, and Cid one after another to finally bring it down, and it had taken the better two of the trio down with it. And to top it off, Remy still had four more Pokemon to his single desert spirit. The sheer frustration he felt was like a rising tide that threatened to drown him. He’d raised Pokemon for years, longer even than she had in technicality, but for all his work and prowess she was still a wall he’d never been able to surmount.

And this time, it was all on him. He’d sent Zidane into what should have been an obvious trap, and she’d been ready and waiting. If only he hadn’t done that, he might still be in the fight. But now… Bringing down four opponents consecutively would be an ungodly tall order for Cid, even on a good day. With the four including a Latias and her trademark Charizard, and his Flygon as exhausted as he was, there was nothing to be done. With a sharp exhale of breath he plucked the Dusk Ball that belonged to Cid from his belt and deployed the red beam to withdraw his battered dragon.

“That’s an end to it. Your win, Rem. Again.”

As soon as his shoulders slumped forward in defeat, the surprised yet confident smile fled from Remy’s face to be replaced by a frown. Dan knew exactly what sort of thoughts would be running through her head; had she been unfair? Did she pressure him to a battle too much? Did she push too far with her tactics? And he also knew that as much as he would wave it off, tell her she was not to blame, and insist she stop apologizing, she would do I anyway.

“What?” she began, almost dejectedly, “Wait! You can still-”

“No, I can’t. Cid was pushed hard enough, I’m not going to try and ride out the rest of this. He needs some rest… same as everyone else. Still can’t beat you, I guess.”

“But… that’s not-!”

A sudden thunderclap from above sent them both looking up toward the sky. Night was coming, and a storm was coming with it.

“We’d best get inside,” Dan said as he carefully scooped up Yuna’s barely conscious form, still wrapped in his jacket, “Looks like it’s the only shelter we’ll have for a bit.”

With only a nod, Remy started in after him with Durandal safely in his ball. The location they walked into was an abandoned hideout, one in the mountains of Hoenn that was once a prominent Rocket Base. Seth and Hannah had both been dropped off with Remy’s father in Johto, and the two had proceeded on their personal crusade against the various crime syndicates that had no doubt seen Giovanni freed. But when they had arrived at the base, they found it empty, ransacked, entirely vacated. In spite of searching high and low for any clues or signs, they found nothing. But, rather than move on, Remy had proposed a rematch between them for old times’ sake. And now, as the rain began to pour down, they found themselves in the same abandoned hideout, nursing their bruised Pokemon and, in Dan’s case, his battered pride.

“Looks like I’m out of practice,” Dan finally said as he finished bandaging up Yuna and placed her back in her ball, “I fell for that King’s Shield bait hook, line, and sinker. I guess some things just don’t change…”

Okay, we'll try doing this OOC first then, see if that makes a difference...
