Bio

Long timer roleplayer, been at it for... god, almost 15 years now all told. Hasn't been all sunshine and roses, but I like to think I've improved somewhat steadily as time has gone on.

I generally like to play older characters, or at least toward the higher end of an age range. Also, just about all of my characters are caring and protective in some capacity, even the rare meanie that I make.

I play a mixture of male and female characters. I myself am a guy.

Generally speaking I try to post at least once per week.

Makes perfect sense to me! He wouldn't know about the Alchemy, of course.

Seems more than reasonable. He'll probably assume she has a power because of the previous events, but I'm thinking he'd have no idea what anybody has outside of ones he's been told (Stella) or seen (Zaylin). Specifics don't tend to register when your attention is occupied by not blasting everyone around you with lightning, and something as subtle as Flamel's Alchemy wouldn't even have been noticed in all of that.
I can get a response from Tobias in if it's warranted. Would you like to assume they became acquainted in math class like we were going to do, since we didn't get to finish that collab before your life started flipping about @Feisty-Pants?
Petyr and Nina Jelen

Location: Simone’s Cafe
Interacting with: Each other

The walk from the bus stop to the cafe was literally a straight line with no stop lights along it. As long as Petyr kept an ear open for cars coming down the one main road that ran past it, he could simply leave his legs on autopilot while his mind spun in an entirely different direction. To call the day he was having unnerving would be an understatement; first the morning incidents, then Nina cutting class to go do God knew what in the woods with Everett, and to cap it all off he had nearly slipped on a patch of ice he’d made without thinking about it on his way to the bus. Stress, it seemed, was even less a friend now that he was a potential walking freezer.

Unfortunately, stress seemed likely to stick around. The coffee shop was crowded today, which would mean he’d have little time to think about anything once he got behind the counter. Nina was one of the people inside, he saw through the window, sitting and reading a book at a table with several other people from school. ”Hoo boy, this is going to suck…” he said to nobody as he trooped over the last crosswalk. The small bell above the door jingled as he opened it, just about everybody glanced up to see who was coming in, and everybody who looked knew who he was. Petyr tried to ignore it and wave or nod to a few people in turn as he travelled down the wall to the back room where the employees could toss their bags, but it only did so much. He hated living in a small town.

Nina tapped Petyr on the shoulder and she waited for him to turn to her. ”Saw you come in. Figured you wouldn’t really wanna talk in front of everyone, bratr. But first, how was your day? Have any more uh… incidents?”

”Aside from making a deathtrap for myself out of a puddle on the sidewalk, no. Thankfully.” he responded as he turned sideways and slipped his bag into a locker, ”Especially since I’m pretty sure worrying myself sick makes it harder to keep a handle on.”

”If it makes you feel any better, it’s not just us. Apparently it was anyone who saw the eclipse last night. I mean even Tess has a power bratr.” Nina paused and bit her lip. ”I’m sure I did not make the worrying easier. Omlouvám se.” I’m sorry.

Petyr closed the locker with a little more force than he intended to, resulting in a somewhat loud bang that echoed around the back room, but not enough to get over the noise of the cafe. ”Well, given that you were all but the sole source of it, I would tend to agree.” He turned to face her as he continued speaking. ”So, let’s get it out of the way then. What happened with Everett?”

Nina winced a bit at the slamming of the locker and looked at Petyr. ”First off, I wasn’t planning on ditching, however, I thought he could use a friend given that tomorrow this town just wants to dredge up the fact that his parents are dead. I would have extended the same offer to Tess if she wasn’t shoving me away. Second, I mostly just went to help around the lodge. I spent most of the time cleaning up. Third, we kissed, yes, but that was it. Anything else you want to know?”

Petyr closed his eyes for a moment as he took a deep breath. She wasn’t telling him everything. He couldn’t quite tell how he knew that, maybe it was just the twin thing at work, but he knew. ”Well,” he finally said, ”If that’s all it was I suppose I don’t have much ground to be upset with you.”

”You’d tell me if anything happened that might get you into trouble, right?”

Nina looked guilty. ”Okay, there is one thing but you have to promise not to get upset because I didn’t even know what was going on till we got there, ok?”

He tensed up for a moment and crossed his arms. He nodded his assent after a few seconds. ”Go on…”

”Everett is having a party tomorrow. And of course you know how most people around here like to party. So… we went to Jade’s uncle’s house and he arranged for some… drinks… to be delivered to the party tomorrow. I swear bratr, had I know, I wouldn’t have gone. All he said was that he wanted my help.” Nina looked nervous at this point. ”We are invited by the way, to the party.”

Upon hearing her, Petyr slumped back against the locker, placed his hand on the side of his face, and exhaled slowly in disbelief. ”Oh, sestra…” The cutting class was an entirely minor thing by this point, this was something that could have landed her in serious trouble. She said she hadn’t known about it, and he believed her, but that wouldn’t have changed anything if they’d gotten caught in the act. He wanted very much to be upset with her, but there wasn’t any real reason for him to be. It was only when Nina cleared her throat politely that he noticed the room had dropped several degrees in temperature.

”Oh sakra (damn it), one second…” he said as he steered his mind toward warmer images to rescind the chill. Nina reached over and hugged her brother tightly.

”Je mi to opravdu líto bratr (I’m really sorry brother.) I made you worry so much.” Nina’s eyes were starting to tear up a bit as she kept close to her brother. He wrapped his arms around her in turn, and sighed again.

”Don’t worry about it. You’re okay, that’s all that really matters.” As he broke out of the hug to put his stupid little brown apron on, he started tapping on his hip to some rhythm nobody else could hear. ”Well,” he mused, ”I suppose we should accept that invitation. It’d probably break his country boy heart if you didn’t show up after all of that, now wouldn’t it?”

”Bratr… don’t be rude, prosím (please), for me?” Nina said, looking at Petyr.

”Alright,”he said, “I promise I won’t turn into dad from that time you snuck out to a dance and came home with Harry Davenport in middle school. Omluvte mě...” he finished as he skirted past her toward the door. If he spent any more time back there, the manager was like to come hunting for him. Stupid afternoon rush.

RINGRINGRINGRINGRINGRINGRINGRINGRINGRING

There was the One Minute Bell. Also known as "Period break is almost over, get to class now." Everybody still in the hallways of the school started to turn their heels and make for the door of their next class, lest they be counted late late. Students were suddenly in a rush, teachers were getting impatient, and Petyr Jelen was worried sick. He and Nina had almost identical schedules, fittingly enough, save for their 1st period class; where Nina had Home Economics, Petyr had Band. After 1st hour, however, they always met at the same spot to go about the rest of their day. But Nina hadn't shown up. It wasn't unusual for her to be running behind because Home Ec ran long, but to not be there at all was nearly unheard of. As his risk of being late grew, Petyr spun and took off for 2nd Period. As he marched, dozens of scenarios and explanations ran through his head, each one worse than what preceded it.

What if something had happened to Nina? Surely she would've tried to reach him on his phone... but what if she couldn't contact him? What if she needed help, and he wasn't able to because he had no idea where she was or what happened to her? The very idea gnawed at his sanity, and the fear was only cemented when he rounded the corner into the classroom and saw what he suspected- an empty chair where Nina should have been sitting if she had skipped their meeting and gone ahead of him. As the bell sounded and the class settled, he pulled out his phone and as subtly as he could and typed out a text message.

N- Where are you? Is everything alright? Text me when you get this ~P

No sooner did he send it, however, then a response came. Error, Message not sent. Retry?

Before he could, however, the teacher had started class and he had to turn his attention toward note taking. Some time into the lesson, however, his phone vibrated softly. He pulled it out slowly and steadily, saw it was from his sister, and opened the message.

"P- I am fine. Just not in classes b/c helping Everett out at the lodge. Will explain later. Pls don't be too mad. <3 N."

Great. Everett Wilcox was involved in it. Somewhere in the back of his mind, a part of Petyr saw that as worse than her being hurt somehow. It wasn't that Petyr disliked Everett, having no particular reason to. But Everett made little to no attempt to hide his roots from down in the south, and, well... Tennessee and Washington were very different places. Some things that would be fairly acceptable in Nashville or Memphis were a far cry from anything you wanted to be caught doing in Verona. Not to mention Nina's brain practically rewired itself where he was concerned. She hid it from her brother as best she could, but there were some tells that were picked up after 17 years of living together. She fancied him, he knew it, and it was cause enough for him to be tense about it. Still, she wasn't hurt, so that was a good thing. He decided to let the matter stew for the rest of class and took to his notes again.

After 2nd period let out, his phone flew into his hand as he punched out a reply.

N- Will you be getting back to school before EoD, or should I wait for you at the shop before our shift? ~P

Either way, the siblings were in for a talk when they saw each other next...
Dan- The Azure Champion

Dan gave only a sardonic chuckle when she implied he would win next time. She was always doing that, insisting that he was the better of the two of them at any given thing, usually in complete disregard for empirical evidence to the contrary. But, then again, he could do much worse for a rival. Rather than blow him off after a challenge and tell him "Smell ya later," whatever THAT meant, she had always ever stuck around, helped tend to all the Pokemon injured in the duel, and then usually pitched her own camp in the same area. Much like what had happened just then.

A smile broke from him as Remy's arm traced the nocturnal horizon. It seemed that, once again, her thoughts followed a similar route as his. Sometimes he swore she was a mind-reading witch because of it. "Quite true. Under a night sky on top of a mountain. Just like the first time we met, up on Mount Rustboro."

He turned toward her, a sparkle of fond remembrance in his eye. "I still have that Eevee you know. He's not quite as spry as he used to be, but Seth loves him to death. Sometimes he curls up on the kid's bed and sleeps with him, it's the most adorable thing..." he continued, referring to the Umbreon at his home. It had evolved from a frightened little Eevee that Remy had been carrying in her arms, along with its sister, when she had burst out of the bushes and stumbled upon his campsite that night nearly 20 years past. Who could've predicted, he mused to himself, that a bowl of stew and an offer of a spare sleeping bag for the night would lead him headfirst into one of the most precious friendships of his life?

@Feisty-Pants
Not to rub anything in, but uhh... Phoenix got some snow. Only a tiny flurry in some other part of town, but yeah. Dunno what to tell ya Californians.
Okay, for those of you not aware, I have been appointed as the third GM of this roleplay? You know what that means?

Kneel down to me, I am your goddess!

I kid.

Petyr's alarm didn't go off. It never went off, mostly because he never set it. In fact, he hadn't set his alarm in close to 3 years; he didn't really need to. Because of how their house was laid out, Petyr's room shared a wall with the upstairs bathroom, specifically the wall that the showerhead hung on. So, when water flowed through the pipes as a result of someone taking a shower, Petyr heard it in his room and his exceptionally light sleeping did the rest. Ever since Nina had gotten into her routine of showering fifteen minutes before he usually got up, he'd figured out he didn't need to wake up to any of the cacophonous alarms he'd used previously. It honestly made mornings just a little more bearable.

Just not this morning. Mostly because he didn't get anywhere NEAR enough sleep the previous night. Part of it had been the Sunset Eclipse, as he'd heard it called somewhere, and the way Verona was all atwitter about it. But mostly it had been because sometime in the night he'd woken up with a start because he was so damn cold. And nothing seemed to warm him up enough. He'd spent the night waking up every couple of hours shivering and then going back to sleep. The inability to take a warm shower did nothing to help his mood.

The smell of freshly made oatmeal wafting upstairs as he toweled off did though.

"Petyr! Breakfast is warming up and lunches are made! Hope you will be down soon!" shouted Nina up the stairwell just as he started to slip his pants on.

"Two minutes!" he called back as he ducked back into his room to grab a shirt. For a moment, he started to reach for his favorite ensemble, a dark grey t-shirt with a black button up, but then he remembered the upcoming Memorial. A shiver that had nothing to do with how cold he was shot up his spine as he remembered those terrible, fear-filled days, but he forced them to the back of his mind. He'd leave those shirts for the actual memorial day; they were, after all, one of the only sets he had that wasn't faded, torn, or slightly too small. Instead he grabbed a fading blue t-shirt by itself, slipped it over his head, grabbed his shoes and jacket, and thumped down to the kitchen.

"Smells like cinnamon and toastiness down here," he said as he swung through the entryway to where the table was, "Morning sis."
Yeesh, devil in the details. But it's done.
