i know i wouldnt mind something like that... but how beginner friendly would it be?
like keep it simple and everything otherwise it gets really confusing...
if you make it certain weapons always have a % then yeah why not but the bigger question is...
how do we deal with visibility and how does that affect the %
im not a active xcom player but i did play a fair share of games that use % based on vision

i would say something simpler... what about dice rolls...?
alien rolls a die you roll a die if your roll is higher than alien then alien gets hit
perhaps add modifier depending on position and weapon... say snipers have a +2 modifier and shotguns have a -4 on long distance

Taking shots at the jaggi using basic shots to not waste his valuable ammunition he takes aim at the many jaggi "you alright over there" he asked as he noticed the intense fight his partner was having

often reloading his rounds he takes the chance to fire at the jaggi that are confronting his partner from behind "watch your back partner your shield doesnt cover your back you know" as he was about to get attacked by a jaggi he swings his bowgun at the jaggi jumping at him "pretty sure im not supposed to swing this!" as he was forced to use his bowgun as a blunt weapon for a short period of time.

after a tiresome fight taking out almost all the jaggi Ren heard that howl again "y-you're kidding me..." he said to Leigh "IT WASN'T A GREAT! ITS A QURAPECO!?!" he yelled as he noticed the large bird wyvern in front of him... "i-is that why it sounded so off!?" his voice sounded to sound less calm and more panicky

"alright i'll provide cover from behind" he threw the meat baiting the jaggi to 2 corners far enough that the other jaggi wouldn't notice the fighting "alright everything is set..." he said as he pulled out his bowgun loaded with pierce rounds "just be careful you dont attract the great jaggi i heard one earlier... but i brought a bunch of sleep rounds with me for that scenario"

Ren answered his partner "the plan is that i throw out bait to spread out the packs and then we take care of the smaller packs... sound good?" he asked his partner before taking out the meat out of his bag "in this situation it might be the best option after all"

noticing the mylynx taking off with the potion he quickly took his Bowgun and carefully watched the mylynx evade the attack "too slow!" he yelled firing a couple of shots at the melynx as he walks towards Leigh "you should be more careful around melynx i know they look like felyne but honestly... took a closer look at their black fur" as he still looked around for other dangers or other melynx "my mentor told me to always watch your surroundings especially when wielding a bowgun... us gunners dont have much protection you know"

he took back the potions from the melynx and gave them back to Leigh when the coast was clear "here it dropped these... they are yours i presume?" hearing the howls of jaggi somewhere in the distance "i hear them... we must be close" he says loading some more powerful bullets "though of those howls seems a bit... off" he adds after loading the bullets walking slowly towards the destination he set for the 2 of them
