Alright, enough people have shown interest. I'll get a legit thread up, along with my own character soon :D
I think I'm interested. Would it be possible to play as someone with psionics? You mentioned telekinesis in the OP so I was hoping so.

I'd be fine with it, so long as the character has some sort of weakness to balance it out.
Color me intrigued.

THE CORE CONCEPT:

The End of The World has come and gone. Within mere moments, everything about the world was turned on its head. Volcanoes erupted, clouds of ash coat the sky in a depressing gray. Nuclear weapons and reactors have exploded all across the globe. The world is filled with toxic air and polluted water, nobody can survive without a gas mask for long. No recognizable animal or plant life has survived, either driven extinct or mutated beyond recognition. The human population across the entire world is probably in the hundreds, maybe one or two thousand at best.

And to make matters worse, SOMEONE just so happened to drink what could've been the very last Pepsi in existence.

You ready your knife.

You're getting that Pepsi one way or another.

EXPLAIN WHAT I JUST READ, MORSEL.

Okay, okay. Put down that sawed-off and I will. Come, have a seat by this pile of burning Dr. Seuss books while we roast what we hope is edible meat.

This is a kind of RP I've wanted to make for a while. One where the focus isn't on the minutiae of the apocalypse, the how, the where, even the why. It's not always gritty survival, gloomy and grim lamentations on the failure of humanity. Rather, I want to create a setting where dark humor flourishes.

This isn't to say I expect constant random humor, of course there will be moments of sadness and regret. It is the end of everything, after all.

You've staved off my hunger for now, fleshy treat. Continue.

Alrighty. Hope that finger tasted good.

This is, in essence, an 'experimental' Roleplay in several ways. For one, the details, the 'how, when, and why' won't be delved into much, at least in the beginning. The setting has a few constants; the ever-present threat of death, the disappointing lack of flesh jerky suppliers humans, and of course, mutant monsters and strange anomalies around every turn. However, beyond that, the setting is what they players want to make of it. I'm completely open to new ideas, comments, etc.

The second 'experimental' aspect is that the cast ONLY consists of the players. Unless I see a need for more complicated ones, NPCs will consist mainly of mutant creatures and the like. This is a grim future, where human life is rare, fleeting, and too easy to lose. There won't be massive settlements, or bastions of civilization, unless the players choose to make one (Though the success will probably depend on how merciful your GM of the hour is feeling). The RP will consist mainly of the players making what they will of this dying world. Of course, I'll make sure there's things to work towards beyond racking up a high mutant kill count or finding another god-damned can of beans. There does need to be some general direction, after all.

The first players, once the RP begins, will most likely be assumed to have been travelling together for quite some time, or perhaps all happen to meet each other in happenstance, perhaps all cornered at once by a pack of mutant Kangaroo/Wolf/Bat hybrids. We'll cross that rusting bridge when we get to it.

Very well. How do I partake in this distraction on the road to an unmarked grave?

Glad you asked!

I don't have a strict set-limit for players yet, though I'd prefer to start with around 4-5. If you're interested, feel free to pop a character sheet right in this thread! I'll also happily accept any comments, questions, suggestions, or hastily-compiled lists of futile insults here, or via PM, whichever is preferable.

A FEW POINTERS BEFORE MAKING A CHARACTER SHEET:

1. I'm partial to 'everyman' characters. I'm far more interested in seeing a convenience store clerk or envelope pusher than I am seeing some genetically-engineered supersoldier that can survive swallowing a nuke [Basically, don't be too overpowered and try to stick to characters that can be flawed. Flaws are fun! They lead to adventure.]

2. Despite the first suggestion, bear in mind that due to the nature of the setting, basically anything goes. Human, Half-Mutant, Sentient Conglomerate of various mammal brains given life and telekinesis by the mysterious apocalypse; go with what you're most comfortable with.

3. Remember; this setting isn't all serious, all the time. So have fun with your character! Just don't go too overboard. No sentient pickles with rat body parts stapled to them.*

4. Nobody's quite sure how long it's been since the End of the World happened, but most canned food is still good, yet there are people born after the apocalypse that are fully grown adults. Almost any age for a character is fair game.

*- At this time.

I'm rather tired and my internet is on the fritz, so I will come up with a sample character sheet when that issue is resolved. THANK YOU!

What for? Well, for getting to the end of this wall of text. Questions, comments, etc. are welcome an appreciated! Hope to see you in the end of everything!
I Am Alive

It wasn't the perfect game, but had it changed just a few things it could've been the post apocalyptic game of the century.
Sorry folks but, it's pretty obvious with me as a head this project is going nowhere fast. I've tried many times to write a first post and nothing comes up. You can even see this in Leo's CS. I've lost interest in this world and if I were to press on I know I wouldn't be giving you all a satisfactory experience. If any of you would want to replace me as GM or make this idea your own, feel free. Sorry, and thank you for your time.

Sorry to hear man :c

I remember having an idea similar to this, so I suppose I'll get to work on an interest check soon

Good luck with your future endeavors ^_^
Zazin

Character Summary

]Name: Zazin, Crazy Wasp, Rock-Obsessed Nutcase
Age: Maturity
Race: Wasp
Gender: Male
Class/Job: "Wild Card." If that doesn't work out, then he's a fairly decent, unpredictable fighter.

Belongings

  • A stone throwing spear, a carved wooden mask that covers his face, a handful of Chips (7), A small backpack to hold other possessions, A primitive club covered in what appears to be severed wasp stingers.)

Skills and Abilities

  • Zazin, when he can focus, is skilled in creating primitive tools and weapons. Though his creations won't pierce metal armor, they'd no doubt be lifesavers should the party be stranded far from any city. He also fights in an unpredictable, brutal manner. Having lived in wilderness for quite some time, he's good at foraging or hunting for his food.

"When you are able to do anything you wish, no matter what that thing is, then you have reached perfection."

Personality
Zazin tends to be a loner, living by his lonesome near a large pond (to a human, it's just a puddle of standing water.) He far prefers a simple life of nightly campfires, knapping a new stone tool by the water's edge, appreciating a lifestyle that most others he meets seem to have forgotten. Most would consider him at least somewhat mad, but in reality he simply dislikes the civilized lifestyle many have become accustomed to. He's difficult to make friends with, but is a standing ally to those he trusts.

Living a life where any mistake could mean death, he's not exactly picky with what he eats, or how he gets it. While he normally simply preys on unintelligent insect life, like aphids and the like, he isn't above feeding one whatever someone else left behind... or should the occasion rise, simply someone else.

History
Zazin doesn't talk about his past too much; but he lived his early childhood in a small shack in the middle of nowhere; a patch of bare dirt surrounded by grass. His parents tended to live a more rural life; hunting for their food as opposed to ranching or farming, like most of the nearby settlements had. Though he remembers his parents talking of valuing their independence, he always remembered how one or the other was almost always away, trading at one of the nearby settlements for things he thought were of little value.

As his parents grew old and he was more than just a pupa, Zazin was quick to abandon the lonely shack he had called his home for so long. Heading far, far into the wilderness, as far from any city or village as he could, Zazin made his home fairly far from any borders that he knew of, carving out a primitive life where he could depend on nobody but himself.

Now, however, the hunting grounds that were once plentiful are turning up thin, and the developments in a nearby town have begun to fill his lake with grey, sickening water. Forced from his home by the very civilization he tried to escape, he now has no choice but to try and integrate into the new world, carving out an existence until he can at least find the supplies to scout for a new home.
((Just copypasting from the interest check))

((Moved to Character section))
I'm hyped for this :D
@Kafka Komedy

Yeah, it's funny I was stewing on making an RP thread similar to this a while back, but got beat to the punch :P

Alright, I'll make sure to add a bit more to his character sheet in time.

Plot wise, I'm fine with pretty much everything, but I'm sure getting at least somewhat involved with the Second Spider War could be interesting, but honestly I'm just excited to explore whatever this unique setting has to offer :D
