Pizza is a main course, but is also a pie. Therefore, I can eat pizza as my meal and have another pizza as my dessert.

Bio

I am Searat
Half sea, Half rat, All Aqueous Rodent.

My role playing career is something i consider as a hobby of some sort but as to how long i have been role playing, I would say that i have three to four years under my belt. (Though most of the times I was role playing, they were nothing as serious as this and were more of a means to relieve stress with my friends or test out ideas that came to mind with them.)

As for my preferences to genres of role play, I would have no biases nor specific preferences to any genre and would be able to adapt to the genre as best I can when placed into it.

Some of my hobbies consist of: playing games, surfing the web, walking, bowling, darts, and cooking. I sometimes write and draw things but not as much to consider it to be a serious hobby.

The blade dancer and the ranger looked at each other for a brief moment. He was about to speak when Muu excused herself for a moment and went up to the tall knight. Oscar winced slightly expecting another 'problem' to arise from the two like the time they were still in the city. But his worries were put to rest when the smaller woman only chose to speak some choice words to the party's leader and left it at that. "That was very mature and responsible of you." He comments to the blade dancer as they made their way upstream.

She then asked if Oscar was purely an archer. That got a titter out of the taller man. "While it may be true that I'm more effective with the bow..." Oscar lifts his cloak a little bit to show Muu the 18 inch machete that was currently in a protective leather scabbard strapped onto his belt and right leg. "This thing ain't for show. Saved my butt probably a dozen of times when I couldn't use my bow. But yeah, I suppose it's safer if I hang back a bit." Oscar finishes by letting go of his cloak and slowing down his pace, but still keeping an eye out for things. Things like ambush points, probable trap locations, and of course a way through the river without dying.

"Good to hear." He replied to the gesture before he turned his attention to the blade dancer. She explained that, though she did not mind scouting with him, she thought that the fiend knight would be the one who would be the one accompanying him upstream. Oscar placed a gloved hand on his chin and thought for a short while. With a quick nod he replies to her. "Nah. I'm sure that she gestured to both of us. I mean it does make sense. We are the ones with the lightest armors and, honestly?, we are likely the most agile among the others." He then notices the other knight start moving away downstream. "The other team went ahead already down stream. Lets get a move on. The faster we finish this, the faster we find a way forward."

He announces to the shorter woman before leaving his wide brimmed hat on the carriage and dons the hood of the ranger's cloak. No matter how hard he tries, his hat simply wont do when he needs to be stealthy while on the move. The point and its sheer size alone is bound to attract unwanted attention when trying to avoid said attention. Grasping some snow from the ground he places it in his mouth to make his breath less noticeable in the cold environment. He finally placed what extra garment his cloak offered around his neck and positions it over his face to cover his nose and mouth as extra measure to hide his breath. With that done, Oscar gives a gesture to the blade dancer that signals that he was about to go.

Oscar's smile widens as Katya chose to play along. "Ah, truly Katya. You really are the bravest, best, and strongest priestess there is in all of the land." Soon enough, the party manages to fill the cart with the expected amount Reynauld gave earlier. The ranger was about to congratulate the mage but saw the rather...ok...knot done by said magic user. Oscar waited and once the mage was not looking, he undid the knots done by the mage and tied them into a more...appropriate trucker's hitch knot. Tying the rope on the anchors of the cart, making sure that the mage not notice the little modification while doing so.

Once Ettamri returned with the horses they were off into the white abyss.

The snow covered wilderness outside of the city walls was rather nice to look at, but it didn't hold a candle to the Ranger's Reserve. It maybe a little bias on the ranger's end, but the fact that there were no monsters hiding in the treeline was a great incentive. They had reached the snowfield when Oscar noticed something off in the group. Not once did he see anyone bring out a map to look at or a map at all. A realization struck him as harsh and unforgiving as a hammer strike to the face. Nobody had bothered to get a map. Shaking his head slightly while walking beside the right flank of cart. Truly this was a common mistake for beginners, an embarrassing mistake to those more experienced. "Foolish, foolish, foolish..." Oscar muttered into the wind. He may be an expert in traversing and navigating the wilderness and all kinds of terrain, but he had never gone past the forest, plains, nor the swamp. Anything past here is a new experience to him. But at least their leader seemed to know where this fort was judging from how she looks at her compass.

While a little bit chilly, he didn't seem to be phased by this cold as much as his companions were. Admittedly, his body had grown accustomed to the cold due to him living in a near perpetual state of camping. He was forced to adapt to the cold or risk dying in his sleep. While most normal people would need heavy winter clothing just to stop shivering. His three layers of cloak, pieces of leather armor, and warm underclothing was enough to ward off the cold and the frostbite. Though the cold brought upon the lack of sunlight was a completely different level of coldness. He dared not think what would happen to them if they failed to find shelter by the time the sun had left their company. Even more so for Katya. She may have been a soldier like any one of them, but the fact that she was still a child. Children were supposed to be in safe and in school experiencing things normal children should. Not as soldiers, not in the unforgiving wilderness, and most especially not fighting against monsters that would kill them in a heartbeat without mercy nor hesitation

Things were fucked here...and he couldn't do anything about it.

The sounds of rushing water broke his line of thought as they approached a large river that had not frozen under the negative something degree cold of winter. They stopped and observed the river. He approached the riverbank to inspect the 30 meter wide body of water. There was no crossing it without a sufficiently long bridge, nor fording it as the depths of the body of water was completely unknown to them. The tall woman told them to scout up river for a possible way across. Readjusting the had on his head, he spoke up. "Scouting? Ah, my other forte. Come along, Muu, we're burning daylight." He turns to look for the blade dancer, only to find her talking to the small priestess sitting on the back of the cart, smiling at her while doing so. Approaching the duo, he makes his presence known to them. "You really should smile more, it fits you." He comments to Muu while waving to the small priestess. "Hey, there Katya. How are you doing?"

The plan was a success. Asteria not only managed to land the attack, but she also managed to maim the giant bug enough to keep it grounded for good. Mother Rat came in to help her offspring and ravaged the wound Ed caused to a more severe extent, spilling forth copious amounts of blood onto the ground. But before Asteria could land the blow, she was knocked off and the bloodingfly was on top of her in seconds. To a lesser extent, [Rabid Fit I] activated for a moment and Ed let go of the gnarled stick and grasped onto the bug with both hands. "GET AWAY FROM HER!" Ed let out a powerful roar and practically tore the severely wounded fly in two. Splattering his arms and some portions of his chest in the unnaturally colored blood as he ripped the damaged thorax from the rest of its body. With that, the bug died within seconds. Only the sounds of the calm winds blowing through the darkening fields and Ed's ragged breathing was heard. Gradually calming down and deactivating [Rabid Fit I].

Then, a sudden burst of light appeared in the forest, catching the interest of all the individuals present. Ed didn't know if this was something to be afraid of, but the fact that it put out the fire that was beginning to consume the fields meant that it at least didn't want all of nature to suffer over such a petty action of one group. Though there was something more interesting that caught his attention more than the dancing lights. The cries of awe and voices of the villagers in the distance. The night was near but Ed's sense of sight was sharper than any normal human's. In the dim light of the fading sunlight, he saw the silhouettes of the humans in the village. Seemingly waiting for more of the lights they both witnessed a few moments earlier. It was in the calm that the System notified him of the level up.

"Woah...so many skills." The young ratman muttered to himself as he read through the available skills, unintentionally failing to notice Asteria approach him and laid a paw on his leg. The sudden, and admittedly unexpected, voice of Asteria rang throughout his mind. Causing poor Ed to jump in surprise. With a masterful and graceful display of his finesse and agility, the young ratman fell flat on his ass with the grace of a break-dancing hippopotamus. Seeing as Asteria was there, he realized that she may have developed a telepathy like Jason did. Casually, he stood up and dusted himself of dirt and debris and spoke to her as if she hadn't caught him by surprise at all. Attempting to save some of his bruised pride. "That's amazing. That telepathy, or whatever, will really come in handy in the future." Ed gave her a thumbs up as she left to attempt to communicate with Mother Rat.

Ed took that time to assess and choose the skills he needed. He had kept this waiting long enough and it was time he decided what skills he needed. 'System, allocate 3 points to [Faster], 7 points to [Harder], 7 points to [Dynamic Eye], 3 points to [Smash] and 2 points to [Dexterous]...uhh...please?' Ed thought to himself. He never really interacted with the system this direct and who knows? Maybe the System likes polite folk. With all the points allocated, the notification disappeared and he waited for the System to notify him of his 5 new skills. It was then he saw, Asteria hiding the bodies of the bugs inside of their little burrow. She tells him that after harvesting them for parts, they ought to either bury them to hide the smell from other monsters or they could eat them. Either way, they would be resting until the later part of the night when most, if not all, of the villagers were asleep. "Yeah. I agree, lets take whatever parts we can carve off the bugs. Maybe we can even make some bits of armor and weapons from them." Ed chuckles slightly. This was really starting to feel like a game he and his sister played before where they hunt and kill monsters for parts to use in their armor and weapons...what was it's name again? Monster Slayer? Beast Hunter? or was it Beast Slayer: Sovereign Amalgamate? Ed couldn't remember. It'd been a while since he played that with Audrey. "Now in regards to weather to eat or bury the bugs. I suppose it would be wise to bur-" His stomach chose to speak for itself and let out an audible grumble. Thoroughly embarrassing himself in front of Asteria. A familiar blush rose to his cheeks, but he kept his composure this time. The last time was more severe, this was a molehill in comparison. "-eat the bugs as we burned a lot of energy in that fight and trek from the cave." Rather than waiting for Asteria to laugh or anything, he went inside of the burrow and began carving off pieces of bug. Using his sharp claws as a makeshift carving knife to pry and cut off useful pieces of the bug off while leaving the meat behind for consumption.

Oscar quietly strode down the cold cobblestone streets, snow crunching underneath his boots. Quietly humming a tune to himself as he made his way to his home. He and the little priestess, along with those who chose or had time to dine with him, had just parted ways in preparation for the long quest they had. It was a simple but filling meal from one of the many under appreciated, and admittedly underrated, restaurants located in the North Western District. It made the ranger ponder why.

Soon the cobblestone streets of the city turned into snow covered ground of the wild. The snow covered wilderness were a marvel to gaze upon as the morning sun's ray glistened upon the still layer of frost whilst the hidden winder birds sung their tune. "Heh...never gets old." Oscar remarked to himself offhandedly before breaking through the treeline and saw the small hill where his home was. The dwelling in question was a large hollowed out tree stump with a man sized carved opening on its and a tarp pegged atop to prevent snow from entering. A small frozen brook, two meters wide, separated the hill from the ranger. Before winter arrived and the body of water froze, he would have hopped over. But now that it had frozen over, it was no issue.

A fire pit, with half a log on each side, smoldered as the fire he had lit from the early morning had slowly died out. Succumbing to the cold environment. Approaching it, he quickly stamped out the remaining embers and proceeded to enter his home. After taking off and hanging his cloak and hat, Oscar lit a hanging lantern and illuminated the area. He then began to scrounge about the carved shelves and nailed racks, for what he needed for the quest. After a few minutes of scrounging, cramming, and fastening things onto the durable leather bag he did one final run down of what he had. "Sleeping roll? Check. Mess kit? Check. Tinderbox? Check. Waterskin, rations, rope, and lantern? Check." Giving a quick nod to nobody in particular, he grabs his bag, turns off the lit lantern, and dons his cloak and hat once again before leaving his home and straight to a familiar looking mud hut. "Hey, just giving a heads up that I'll be gone for about a week." The older man just grunts in affirmation(?) and is silent once again. "So...yeah. I'm just saying bye." Another grunt and more silence. It was kinda awkward. No matter how good Oscar's composure was, he felt awkward talking to the supposed guild master of the rangers. He pursed his lips inward and looking around the hut for a bit before he made his way out of the hut.

Once outside he opens his pack and grabs a small pouch of dried strawberries and leans onto the wall near the opening of the hut. Reaching inward the hut, he lays the small pouch near the entrance. Close enough for the light to illuminate the ranger's offering to apologize for the awkwardness, but not so near that someone could step on it. With that done and over with, he finally goes into the city proper to purchase some more supplies. Notably more combat oriented arrows and a spool of fishing line, before going to meet up with his party.

===============================================

They had done the paperwork needed and the page had just gave them some simple enough instructions to the party. If done properly, the whole quest will be as simple as going in and out. But that was assuming things would go right. The ranger just nodded to the page as he finished with his warning. Katya suddenly cried out, seemingly pumped for the quest. The little girl then attempted to display her immeasurable might...only to fall flat on her butt. That earned her a short titter. "Be careful there, priestess. We don't want you getting hurt even before we leave the city." He tells her just as the tall woman carries her and the sack onto the cart and warns the party that slackers would be punished severely. "Roger. Over and out, Captain Ettamri." He gives her a friendly mock salute before he sets his backpack on the opposite side to where Ettamri placed hers. Renauld had already started and gave a rough estimate to how much they can put in the cart.

The ranger gives him a nod and began working. Lifting his fair share of bags onto the cart, he had a passing thought that maybe Katya would have felt or was feeling a little bit down that she wasn't being much help. "You're still a growing young lady, Katya. Don't worry about it." He tells her while loading another sack. He thinks about a way he could include her in the work, but not let her over work herself. A moment passes before a light bulb went off in his head. He would carry the majority of the weight but let Katya guide where the sack would be laid down in the cart. With a sly smirk on his face, he executed his plan. "Oh no. My forearms are getting quite sore." Oscar lied and did his best to not sound overly dramatic and laid the back of a gloved hand to his forehead in mock anguish. "If only I had someone to help me..." He looks to the priestess in a playful manner, seeing if she would be willing to humor him and 'help' with the loading process.

The ranger chuckled lightly at the manner the little priestess had difficulty in pronouncing some of her words. The fiend knight then barged in front of her, burlap sack in hand and body language indicating he might have intentions of using the aforementioned sack to hurt someone. He approached the small one and began to complain about her taking parts of his introduction and appropriate it to her introduction. He also accused her of being a thief before demanding he purify the thing in the sack. The scene caused the ranger to raise an eyebrow in both confusion and slight amusement.

The small one voiced her complaints to the fiend knight but complied to his request after giving the sack, that was revealed to contain a whole roast chicken. Wait, what? Oscar stared at the whole roast chicken as the girl pulled it out and took a big bite off the surprise meal. 'Poor thing, desperate enough to eat some stranger's chicken from a sack.' He thought to himself while observing the rookie priestess ravenously consume the...dubious...looking chicken with gusto. The hardships of being a rookie fresh from the catacomb was still fresh in his memory. Hard times those days were, hard times. Ettamri then spoke up of what needed to be prepared, how the reward would be split, as well as what time they were going to meet up. Though she was rather a little vague about the span of a "short while" he assumed that they were given around two or three hours at most to prepare their things for the quest. Oscar gave her a quick nod and was about to leave but looked at the girl, still devouring her impromptu meal and felt a pang of guilt strike his heart.

Not so long ago, he would have likely done the same if offered a meal like a roast chicken. Likely from a less eccentric individual but none the less he would have accepted the offer in a heartbeat. He felt sorry for the little priestess and thought he could kill two birds with one stone. "Miss Katya, instead of eating...that. Would you be interested in dining in a more, lets say proper, establishment in the North Western District?" He asks the priestess before looking at the rest of the group. "Of course the offer extends to all of you as well." Breaking bread among team members is a common practice and usually tends to be a good bonding experience. He hoped that, in doing so, he could get off on the right foot with this group and get along with them like the other groups he had joined previously.

The young ratman grinned as the strike had done significant damage to their deadly flying vespid like foe. But one strike was not enough and Mother rat had been repelled before she could do more significant damage. Though at least now the bug only focused on Ed, realizing that he was the greater threat to it. "C'MON AND GET SOME!" Ed roared at the circling bug as it decided to dive right at him, intending to skewer him with it's spear like stinger. Ed knew that his awkward batting position would not do him any good in attacking the dive bombing bug, so he instead focused on it once again with [Beast Sense II]. Hoping to high heaven that whatever caused his perception of time to slow, may it be a hidden skill or simply just the adrenaline causing his brain to go overdrive, would kick in again, and in doing so, give him an advantage on what he wanted to do.

Like before, he would still take an aggressive stance but this time this was only a ruse. He would feign a swing just to cause the bug to react to the false attack, but he would hop backwards at the last second. The bug would be too distracted by reacting to the feign that it would give Asteria and Mother Rat the chance they need to take their foe down.

The ranger let out a quiet sigh as the confrontation between the two de-escalated. 'Good thing too. The guards were getting agitated' He thinks to himself while giving the people they had bothered an apologetic smile while he scratched the back of his head. When he had returned to look back to the group, the tall knight had picked up a little girl as one would a lost kitten. "Ummm...Miss Ettmari, correct? I do not think that the little girl likes being held up like that." Or that a child ought to be held up by the collar, risking suffocation and death given the proper angle and time.

Oscar looked at the group before him and gave a quick nod to nobody in particular. It seemed that he needn't ask for Renauld's help in forming a party. He turns to the mage and speaks to him. "Hmm...I suppose we won't be adventuring with your usual group, huh?" He finished with a lighthearted chuckle and a pat on the wizard's shoulder. The tall intimidating one had just announced that she would be the party's leader for the quest, and he had no intention of objecting her. Even by simply looking at her, Oscar knew that she has experience in leading a group before. "No questions here. Just by listening to you, I can agree that you are leadership material."

He glanced to the side and looked at the others to see if they were going to voice any complaints or objections, but took note of the armored silver eyed knight. He had heard of rumors of a shield bearing knight with silver eyes that apparently was a bringer of doom and misfortune due to the unaccountable number of the knight's party mates meeting their end while with him in the party. It lead to suspicions that there was foul play in the deaths, but no official reports had been given and it was left to word of mouth to confirm or deny the guilt or innocence of the aforementioned knight. Perhaps Argentum was the infamous knight that the rumors spoke of?

His train of thought was interrupted when a short dark haired man had gone to the center of the group and announced himself. Siwon was his name, probably the fiend knight friend the shield bearer talked about. He worshiped the same god that Rangers paid respects to due to Kur-Inuus representing the natural cycle of life and death. 'A little too eccentric, but I suppose he may be an alright guy.' The ranger thought to himself while observing the strange little man speak.

Then Siwon called Oscar a heretic.

The comment caused the smile on Oscar's face to dip ever so slightly. They both revered Kur-Inuus. It mattered not the method of showing reverence but only the intention of the action. It was rude and uncalled for but even though he wished to correct the fiend knight, it would only lead to more complications. Instead, Oscar held his tongue and just nodded when Siwon mentioned that they needed a priest.
