Pizza is a main course, but is also a pie. Therefore, I can eat pizza as my meal and have another pizza as my dessert.

Bio

I am Searat
Half sea, Half rat, All Aqueous Rodent.

My role playing career is something i consider as a hobby of some sort but as to how long i have been role playing, I would say that i have three to four years under my belt. (Though most of the times I was role playing, they were nothing as serious as this and were more of a means to relieve stress with my friends or test out ideas that came to mind with them.)

As for my preferences to genres of role play, I would have no biases nor specific preferences to any genre and would be able to adapt to the genre as best I can when placed into it.

Some of my hobbies consist of: playing games, surfing the web, walking, bowling, darts, and cooking. I sometimes write and draw things but not as much to consider it to be a serious hobby.

No matter where they went, no matter how hard they tried to avoid it, trouble seems to have a knack at finding the Rat Party. When they finally thought that they caught a break and found a place they can make camp, there comes these bandits that thought similarly that the barrow would be a perfect place for their camp. 'Goddamnit.' Ed thought to himself as he deliberately slowed his movements to lessen the chance of him getting detected by the three big-eyed lizard humanoids and activated [Muffle II] to make sure that his chances of being detected were as low as he could possibly make it. Though, unwelcomed, they did pique the former human's curiosity. He heightened his [Beast Sense II] to focus solely on his sight to help the rat-man see in the low light conditions and allow him to perform [Monster Analysis I] on each of the three and determine whether or not they would be able to dispatch them before they can call to the larger and better equipped humanoids if they needed to. Their things were, thankfully, well hidden at the back of the burial mound; one could even easily mistake it as just a nest or bedroll of some kind in the low light. But retrieving items from it would make too much noise and would alert the creatures of his presence rather easily. So, as of now, he slowly crept his way to the entrance of the burial mound.

Hoping to whatever god listened to him that he could perform this action without being detected by their unwanted guests.

The small one's comment garnered a significantly louder chuckle. Oscar then grabbed some fresh snow and washes away the blood and gore from his person before approaching the little priestess and gives her a couple gentle pats on her head and a warm smile to show appreciation for the humorous reply. "Don't worry about eating poop, Katya. I promise it doesn't have any. Just think of it as weird ham." The ranger then moved towards the driver's seat and took his position upon it. He then turns to their recently raised phalanx. "Argen, I know you're feeling better now, but you lost a substantial amount of blood earlier. I ain't forcing you to sit down and rest; I'm only suggesting that you take a little break for the time being." Oscar said with a concerned tone. Weather or not Argen acted on his suggestion, they would make their way to the site of the ransacked cart at a steady pace.

The fiend knight was the first to greet them as they and the cart managed to finally reach the site. His heart sank as he saw what the fiend knight held in one of his hands. It was a bundle of steel tags. The embers of hope was extinguished at the sight. It was made well aware that there were no survivors from this incident, and it was an undeniable fact. This was to be expected outside of the walls of the city. This was not some fairytale story where they get there in time and save them all and be big damned heroes. To make matters even worse than it already is, whatever or whoever did this to them was still out there. Oscar leaves the driver's seat and walks to the fiend knight and pats him on the shoulder and thanks him for collecting the tags. He wasn't sure what drove the fiend knight to collect the tags of the fallen, but he appreciated it none the less.

The tags were nameless, of course. Many soldiers considered placing one's name upon their tag to be a bad omen. Treating it similarly to writing one's last will and testament before going off to fight. Basically resigning themselves to death. His own tag rustling softly underneath his leather armor.

A constant reminder.

He then approached the bodies and inspected each before moving them aside for the priestess to bless and not be an obstacle for their cart. Who knows? Maybe Oscar and company would have recognized their faces, as they did not know their names. He saw the wounds and came to a similar conclusion as Siwon and Ettamri had. This was not an accident. News regarding party wipes were not uncommon in the walled city, but this was not just a wipe. It was a calculated and organized attack. Someone or something purposefully ambushed and killed the soldiers...but why?

If it were beasts, the motivation was to eat. But the grain or bodies would have been eaten to a degree and the horse had only certain parts cut off and eaten.

If it were bandits, the motivation was to get money and goods. But the equipment was left untouched and the goods were destroyed and not taken.

None of this situation made sense.

The ranger gently shook his head side to side as he finally lays the last body. "Katya, would you kindly give them their last rites?" They had little room in their cart and it was an unrealistic idea to bring their bodies back to the city. So at the very least, they could absolve them from the curse of undeath. It was the least they could do.

A few minutes into the butchering, the ranger knew that this was going to be quite a difficult task. He was used to butchering and skinning animals and the fact is these things were not animals. If anything they were more akin to twisted parodies of humans. None the less they may need more than a pounds of extra food considering that a large woman like Ettamri seemed to have just as big an appetite. And if they couldn't eat the meat, he had at least gained some experience in butchering a human-like body. Oscar paused as he realized that, they were fighting for humanity. Why would experience in cutting up and preparing a humanoid corpse be something to look forward to? He wasn't some kind of psycho killer that lives in the woods like in the movies in the old world...well he did live in the woods and he does kill for a living, but at least he is not a psycho. The knightess would then talk to him. "Understood, Ettamri. Watch each other's backs and make sure to keep safe." And with a quick wave he saw them off before going back to butchering the giant ape.

A particularly badly positioned cut from his kukri machete caused a small geyser of rapidly cooling blood to squirt onto his chest and face. The ranger barely reacted to it, for the little one's sake, but he internally sang a string curse words as the blood froze all too quickly on his person and would be a bitch to clean. "Quite the squirter aren't you?" Oscar playfully said with a hint of malice as he uses the back of his machete to tap the head of the unresponsive Abom corpse. Though after thirty minutes passed, he finally managed to finish up with the first. The meat and organs he deemed relatively safe to eat were kept in a bundle made from its skin. The organs he didn't deem safe to eat and the bones were set aside and left as an offering to Kur-Innus...if the god even accepted monster parts as offerings. Oscar then repeated the process again with the remaining Abom corpses, though with more and more difficulty as the bodies were getting more and more frozen as the minutes passed. But after an hour and a half had passed, Oscar had three bundles of edible[?] meat and three separate piles of offerings to his patron. While setting the meat atop the cart's cargo, he turns his head to talk to the priestess. "Yo, Katya. How'd you like the idea of having monkey butt steak for dinner tonight?" The ranger chuckled soon after as the idea in itself was a silly one.

Heh, monkey butt.

As the fight finished and their foes managed to escape, Oscar could feel the effects of the Hunter's Rush fading. The world was getting more and more blurry by the passing moments, his body was heating up significantly from the sudden increase in his metabolism, and he was significantly out of breath. The combined after-effects caused him to lean on the wagon to rest on and catch his breath. His body was hot to the point that the ranger was producing whisps of steam as his body desperately attempts to restabilize itself. He looks to where the brawler abom was and sees his goblin dagger lying harmlessly on the snow. "As expected from goblin crafts." He comments to himself as he finally regains his breath and staggers forward and retrieves both his kukri and dagger. He heard the knightess ask if anyone was injured. "A little sore and tired but both life and limb are still intact. Can't say the same for everyone though..." He referred to the bladedancer and the phalanx that was still on the snow and unmoving. He looks to Katya. "Katya, would you kindly check on our Phalanx? I think he may be hurt or unconscious."

The knightess then spoke to him. "No problem, Ettamri. I'll get to that, but I need to tell you something more important. Further up is a ransacked silver moon caravan. Very much like ours and likely sent with the same purpose. I couldn't confirm if there were any survivors, but it seems fresh. If we can get there in time, maybe we can still save the survivors." Oscar hoped that it was true, he couldn't accept the alternative that he left his fellow soldiers to die.

Rat Party

A few seconds passed, then a minute. Ed was still on high alert when Asteria hopped down from the top of the barrow. Ed could see a glimpse of the adult dire rat near the entrance before she scurried to him. "Y-yeah. That-that be for th-the best." Ed was still shivering something fierce, but as soon as Asteria tried to calm him down. His body shivered less. "Thanks...I needed that." The terror and dread of being near such a place still persisted in him, but was made more bearable with the presence of Astera and Mother Rat.

Finally dropping his fighting stance, he returned his trusty bludgeoning instrument back in its proper place on his vine belt. Turning his back to the barrow, he goes to the tall grass and makes another grass weave but smaller. Small enough that it won't consume much of the little sunlight they had left, but big enough for him to place some of the bug meat. "Asteria, Can you do the offering? Honestly, the thought of entering the barrow is still very daunting to me."

"Ah, it slipped my mind that you've packed the meat as well. Have you even eaten after the battle?" Asteria didn't remember him doing so, and as Mother Rat had been injured at the time, perhaps neither had she. Ripping the meat in half, she left a piece to Ed, and packed the other back into the small grass weave. "I'm taking this over, then," she notified her companion. She grabbed the packet, and carefully made her way to the barrow's entrance, though she didn't stop this time, but entered. Cautiously, she looked around for a proper place to set down the meat. Deciding to burn them based on the plaque's message, Asteria sent a brief pulse of mana into the meat before throwing it into the fire - hey, maybe the mana worked as kind of a seasoning for the divine? "Ah, Honourable spirits, this here is our offering to you and the Lords...May you rest in peace." There, that should be good enough, right? Just to make sure she hadn't incited anything malevolent, Asteria briefly activated Mana Sense again.

Then, she went back to Ed. "Alright, offering made. Maybe I should go back to the altar and apologize for disturbing it, but it seems fine so far. Oh, oh, and before I forget! The altar had some exciting information. I saw these strange symbols on it, and they didn't make sense at all - unlike the plaque - but when I traced them all and concentrated on putting some Mana into the shapes...What it said was that it is currently 'Year 268 of 3.E. Last Week of Dragon's Season. 5th Day (Kimaday). 07:45 Evening.' It also mentioned that the ' Adalwulf's Lance' aka 'The General' is in alignment; I'm guessing that's the equivalent of our zodiac constellations. Moreover, the device was able to track time by the minute, last I checked it was 7:46 PM." Asteria huffed a breath after that explanation, letting Ed digest what she'd said.

"Not yet. Admittedly I only feel peckish right now, but I suppose I should eat." The young ratman said as he saw Asteria tear the meat in half and put one half out for him. "Many thanks, Asteria." Ed replies gratefully as he gives her a smile in return. Just as he sat down on the grass beside his equipment burrito and Mother Rat, Asteria notified Ed that she was going to enter the barrow. "Be careful." He gave a quick but concerned warning to her just as she entered the barrow. As she was doing the offering, he began eating the bug meat and savoured every bite. As is it already tasted like shrimp, albeit a little more greasy, but seafood was his favourite hands down and without a doubt. If only he had some seasonings, butter, and a fire ready, he could have shown off his two years of experience in culinary school. A tragedy of the ages.

Just as he finished up eating his meal for the day, Asteria came back and spoke with him. "Huh, so like one magical calendar or something? That's a pretty nice find. Now we can keep track of time properly to the minute." Ed then let out a big yawn. "Sorry. I must be more tired than normal." That was an understatement, Ed went far beyond his limits and nearly killed himself as a result. He then stood up from his sitting position and stretched away the tired feeling temporarily.

"Yeah...about that. We can get to a water source - a lake and a river - if we continue eastwards, but it won't be soon. Besides, it will soon be night-time. Perhaps this place wouldn't be such a bad place to camp at. The, er, spirits seem fine for now, so that's a low risk of Undead, and we haven't seen signs of human travellers nearby. Since I've invested points in Minor Heal, I can apply it to you, but I wouldn't expect it to do much since it's at level one." Nonetheless, Asteria put a paw on Ed, and applied both Mana Sense and Minor Heal at the same time. This was one of the perhaps two ways she could think of actually understanding how the healing magic worked.

A moment or two passed before she cut off the mana flow. "Now...we best move our things to the back of the building so even if someone passes by, they won't see us from the road immediately. Then you best head to sleep if you can. I'll wake you up at 1 am, go to sleep till six, and then we can travel. If either of us needs it during the day, we can do some power napping. Ah, just one more thing before you pass out - we best go from plant to plant and drink some of the evening dew. That's about the only thing I can think of for hydration in our current situation," Asteria offered with a shrug. She proceeded to do exactly that; located the nearest plant, ambled over, and licked its leaves, drinking the few drops of water gathered on them.

"A lake and a river to the East? That sounds great." No more worries about dehydration. Ed still remembers that the most important thing to take into consideration in a camp is how close is it to a clean body of water other than making sure that no nasty critters are near your expected camp. Though he still frowned slightly at the suggestion that they make this barrow into their temporary camp. He thought about it as the younger adult dire rat applied her healing magics on him and explain their next plan of action. "Uhhh...about that sleeping inside the barrow. Can I not? I mean you and mother rat can sleep inside." Ed then realized how cowardly that sounded. "You know...to keep guard of the stuff and make sure that it doesn't get stolen or anything." Ed feigned confidence. The thought of sleeping in a clearly haunted place meant for burying the dead terrified him. What if a restless spirit took possession of him while he was asleep? What if he turned into one of those deadites from the Evil Dead and hurt Asteria and Mother Rat?

Ed quickly perished the thought. He was with Asteria and Mother Rat, the only friends he had left in the world ever since Jason died and the cave exodus. Now was not the time to let his phobias get in the way. "Uhh...scratch that. On second thought I'd better sleep inside...it is warmer inside." Ed swallowed the lump in his throat that he didn't even realize was there and his throat felt awfully dry as he kept gazing into the inky abyss of the barrow's entrance. "Y-y-yeah some water sounds great right about now." The ratman then broke eye contact with the structure and let out a breath of relief. Ed then focused on licking up as much dew he could from the tall grass, once he had his fill. He psyched himself up to enter the barrow and sleep near the entrance, so just in case he would encounter anything supernatural, he had easy access to an escape route.

"I'll wake you up if something happens, don't worry. Think of it as exposure therapy, if nothing else," Asteria replied. She'd have suggested sleeping outside, but now that Ed finally gathered his courage to enter the potentially haunted building, she certainly wouldn't halt something that for him, was fantastic progress. After watching Ed set up near the entrance on the inside of the barrow, she made sure he couldn't be seen by a casual glance from the road. Still, if any humans happened to arrive even an hour or so later and decide to settle in for the night, it might result in a rather awkward situation. The dire rat also checked on mother rat, brushing against her companionably, and nudging her in Ed's direction. Perhaps she would feel like resting as well, though it was possible she wanted to find some water or even scavenge for more food. As long as she did not stray too far, Asteria would not worry about the experienced if non-human rodent.

Making use of her time on guard-duty, Asteria went about around the barrow, collecting any nearby plants, though never strayed very far from the building. She ensured to keep alert and her senses working overtime so that if there was a danger, she could notice it in time to react and warn her allies. When she gathered what plants she could, she returned to the entrance of the barrow, and crouched in front of it. She kept her gaze fixed to the road, though thankfully, she wasn't limited to one sense; she could really on her hearing as well. That would be enough. Focusing on her breathing, and centering her mind, Asteria practiced entering a relaxing yet alert meditative state while keeping her eyes open. It was rather challenging, and her attention wavered. However, she kept at it. At one point, she activated Mana Drain to replenish her mana from the surroundings. Then, she proceeded to try and finally learn meditation, varying her methods by occasionally closing her eyes and focusing on calming her mind and, but mostly keeping watch on the road and trying not to let her thoughts get fixated on any one specific thing. When she felt that it was time, she went over to Ed, shook him awake, and took his place, falling into a restful sleep.

The ratman awoke from his sleep, his body feeling the full brunt of the muscle fatigue from the physical exertion yesterday. "Urgh." The ratman couldn't even formulate a proper sentence to describe how his body felt, it hurt to move but the rest had rejuvenated his body and mind. So instead, Ed let out a discontent 'urgh' to describe the feeling. None the less, he got up and switched roles with Asteria. Now it was his time to keep guard while she rests and recuperates her strength. The pale moonlight cast a dim light to the surroundings of the barrow. If Ed did not have his enhanced senses, it would have been very difficult for him to detect humans or monsters. But to be sure of things, he climbs atop the structure to get a better vantage point and ensuring that he would not do anything to disturb the altar or the obelisks present.

It was still rather chilly though. "Jesus...what I wouldn't do for some clothing." he said to himself as he rubbed his hands on his shoulders to keep himself warm. He couldn't start a fire. It would likely attract unwanted visitors. So instead he applied some of his basic understanding of physics and thermodynamics. Focusing on his mana he encased himself in a layer of it and then conceptualized the mana layer as if it were something with high thermal conductivity. Then applying the idea that the mana layer creates an endothermic reaction, where the mana layer, in theory, will absorb the surrounding heat and warm him but would likely make his surroundings colder. If it would work like how he would have liked it, he would be able to keep warm while keeping an eye out for danger for the rest of his watch.
Sure. Why not? Its been a while since I joined a 40k themed RP.

"Nice." Ed muttered as he peered inside the structure and saw that it was more than he had expected. Admittedly he expected a creepy hallway leading to the inky abyss, but truthfully? Anything was better than that. Seeing the furniture inside, Ed quickly assumed that it was not actually a burial mound and was just a house or something of the like. He was about to step inside and investigate further when his gut feeling told him to look up. He would then see the plaque and saw the language on the plaque morph before his very eyes. This caused the ratman to squint as he read the text above. "Barrow...lords of viska...earned rest...swallow who disturb...spirit guardians..." Ed muttered to himself as he read the plaque. With a free hand, he scratched the bottom of his jaw and reached an obvious conclusion.

"This place is haunted." And after stating that fact, the ratman then suddenly chuckled to himself. "Nope."

He walked back to his grass matt burrito and picked it up after exerting significant effort in doing so, he called out to Asteria who scrambled atop the barrow. "Asteria, this place is a burial ground and is haunted as fuck. Also, don't stand on those pillar things. Apparently they're holy or something and I don't want to fight ghosts." He said before looking up and seeing the female dire rat atop one of the aforementioned holy pillars. "Ah shit...here we go again" He said with a rather despondent tone before dropping the burrito once again and getting ready to face whatever spook was going to come out to face them. All the while shaking like a leaf in the wind.

The ranger couldn't believe what his eyes were relaying to him. He missed only by an inch. He could practically see the fur he cut off with the kukri float in the air for a brief moment before gravity took effect. Then the bad situation became worse. He suddenly felt his body shift and with a deafening roar, the ape had thrown him off the hill with incredible force. Only using the momentum of its body twisting and prehensile tail. This beast truly was a monster to behold in regards to strength and dexterity. Oscar was airborne for less than a second and a half but, with his enhanced senses, the scene played out in slow motion. And from the corner of his eye, he saw that he was careening straight for the bladedancer. Reacting to this, he did his best to position himself into a better form to lessen both their injuries from the inevitable impact. It somewhat worked as when he crashed into the bladedancer as, not only did she take the blow, she also managed to catch the ranger in her arms and avoid getting stabbed by the 18-inch long kukri machete still tightly grasped in his hand. It was also then that Oscar discovered that Muu had quite the physique; underneath her clothes was pure and hardened muscle...but also something soft. Oscar already had an idea what that softness was but was too embarrassed to acknowledge it. Oscar simply looked at the bladedancer carrying him bridal style with wide eyes as his cheeks turned a brighter shade of red. "Uhh..." was all he was able to articulate before his heightened instincts kicked and his head snapped back to look at the ape atop the hill. Its feet frozen in place, but it was still determined to draw blood with a thrown spear. Without thinking, Oscar quickly pivoted his body towards Muu and knocked her down to the snow but making sure that the machete would not injure them in any way by simply letting it go just as he pivoted his body.

The spear flying through the space they were in a half-second later at such a speed that it whistled in the air before imbedding itself deep into the snowy dirt. Though they managed to avoid getting skewered, they were not able to avoid further unintentional skinship as the ranger laid prone atop her and their faces were a mere two inches away from one another. The ranger's face burned up as he blushed something fierce. "S-sorry." the ranger stuttered as he scrambled off Muu. The sound of flesh striking against metal was the next thing that caught Oscar's attention. One of the other immobilized apes had managed to land a good hit against their Phalanx, leaving him vulnerable on the ground. Oscar looked around and dashed straight to the spear before pulling it out of the ground with post-haste. If he did not act quick enough, they may be losing their Phalanx in a few moments. Turning to face the unarmed ape, Oscar drew forth the dagger he had taken from the goblins yesterday and in one fluid motion, threw the dagger at full force; straight to where Oscar would guess the liver of the creature to be located. Oscar would surely receive the enmity of the ape, giving Argen a window to escape and recover. All the while doing this, he also tosed the spear over the cart to where Argen generally was. Hoping that in doing so, he had made the Phalanx's task of re-obtaining his spear faster and easier.
