Bio

I am Searat
Half sea, Half rat, All Aqueous Rodent.

My role playing career is something i consider as a hobby of some sort but as to how long i have been role playing, I would say that i have three to four years under my belt. (Though most of the times I was role playing, they were nothing as serious as this and were more of a means to relieve stress with my friends or test out ideas that came to mind with them.)

As for my preferences to genres of role play, I would have no biases nor specific preferences to any genre and would be able to adapt to the genre as best I can when placed into it.

Some of my hobbies consist of: playing games, surfing the web, walking, bowling, darts, and cooking. I sometimes write and draw things but not as much to consider it to be a serious hobby.

The situation played out too quickly. Two of the giant ape-like creatures had died; but rather than demoralize the remaining apes, it only aggravated the situation even further. From the corner of his eye, he could see something close the distance between them in a matter of seconds. Oscar had only managed to turn his head to see that the ape was only a scant few feet away from him, it's eyes filled with murderous intent.

The ranger tried to move his body to face his new foe, but it was simply too fast. With a thrusting spear lunge, it closed the distance to the point that using his bow would only put him at an even greater disadvantage. Oscar quickly took a half step to the side, the spear tip only narrowly missing his hardened leather chest plate. Not that it mattered, the force behind such a strike would render his leather armor as useful as wet tissue paper. He could not afford to let this thing to land a good hit on him. He had to focus all his senses simply to keep up with the beast's erratic barrage of killing blows. Made even harder by the fact that he only had two hours of sleep.

Sadly, focusing on the weapon attacks caused the ranger to let the tail go unnoticed. Only when Oscar felt the tail coil around his ankles he realized how badly he had messed up. "Fuc-" was the only words he managed to get out before the tail pulled him to a prone form. With a plume of snow, the ranger's body fell flat on the ground. Vulnerable to the enraged ape's attacks. This was now the true test for the ranger. Will he succumb to fate and die here? Or will he rise up and triumph? In the heat and chaos of the moment, his mind went blank and a single phrase echoed through his thoughts.

Conquer or Die.

The blood quickens. The senses sharpen. Pain dulls. Time slows. Energy is renewed. Power is given. Many would falter in the face of certain death; but not this one...not today, it was time for Oscar to perform beyond his's limits. Even if he could only maintain this state for only a minute, it could give him the advantage he so desperately needs in this one-sided fight.

Just as another spear thrust intended for his heart is let loose, Oscar rolls to the side and narrowly misses getting skewered as the spear embeds itself deep into the hill. Just as it attempts to continue the unrelenting flurry of blows with an axe chop, Oscar quickly unsheathes his trusty kukri machete and, with almost herculean force, slashes at the ape's wrist. Meeting it just as the axe falls. Hoping that the combined forces and point of choice would outright sever the hand and the amount of pain, in turn, loosens the tail's grip on his feet and freeing his legs.

'Sweet, a level up.' Ed thought to himself as he smiled. He was not expecting to level up while they were simply travelling, but he wouldn't complain. Gaining a level only means that he can survive longer and find out what the hell is going on in this world as well as find a way back to Earth if possible. 'Please place 1 point to [Mental Resistance], 1 point to [Rabid Fit] and 1 point to [Magic Analysis] and 2 points to [Focus].' Once done allocating his points, Ed then refocused on the task at hand. While it did seem that the road was not that recently used and the tall grass still sufficiently hid them away from sight, and a number of his passive skills made it hard for someone or something to detect him normally and even harder to ambush; but it was still no excuse not to be careful.

Overconfidence is a slow but effective killer.

So Ed kept his nose and ears sharp for any sounds or smells that seemed off or strange, hoping that the passive form of [Beast Sense II] would suffice in keeping him up to date in regards to the scents and sounds. At one point he smelled smoke that reminded him of the strange dream. Looking towards the direction of the smokey smell, he noticed the pillar of smoke rising from the distance. Ed quickly put it off as another settlement that they'd have to investigate later on when they finally have a base that is both safe and secure. As the hours of quiet and absolute normality passed, it was some sort of miracle or something that they had not encountered anything. It was a surprise surely, but a welcome one at that.

Though they did manage to find a campsite, likely from the travellers from yesterday judging by the footprints. Though they seemed to avoid the pillar of smoke and that meant one thing and one thing only. Trouble. Ed was still curious as to what was causing that pillar and why would people actively avoid it...but he still valued his life more than satisfying his curiosity. " I don't think this place has anything worthwhile but I'm pooped. Lets set up ca-" Ed suggested before he realized that the smell of water was getting stronger than ever. "Wait, no. Smell that?" The ratman asked the rhetorical question; of course, Asteria smelled what he smelled. Impossible she couldn't.

With his nose into the air, he let it guide him down the slope and eventually to another rise. Though this one seemed more unnatural and out of place as compared to the other rises and slopes they had encountered in their trek. As they approached the unnatural hill, they got a better sight of the thing. It was obviously artificial and man-made. "Whoa. It's like one of those burial mounds from Skyrim..." Ed commented as he approached the thing and laid down the grass mat burrito beside him as he inspected the structure. While walking around the thing, Ed stumbled upon the entrance. "I don't have nyctophobia but Jesus Christ this is unsettling." Ed said before picking up a small stone and tossing it in the darkness. Hoping to ascertain how far or how deep this thing really was.

The sound produced as one ape's skull cracked was both disgusting and satisfying. But it was still no time to celebrate, the second one had gained a second wind and was on Ettamri in a flash. The sound of its fists banging into her, echoed throughout the area. If he didn't act now, the knightess would surely die.

But in a moment, the tide turned and Ettamri slammed her skull against it's.

Not taking this moment for granted, Oscar notches a Bodkin arrow and sends it flying toward the giant ape like creature's skull; intending to kill this one before it can do anything to retaliate against the knightess.

This was it. It would avenge its twin and slaughter the rest of the party and revel atop their broken bodies. It only needed a few more seconds to reduce her organs to jelly and bones to dust. But in the heat of the moment, it realized that something caught one of its arms. What could possibly stop the enraged force it put into each and every strike? It's eyes widened in surprise and horror as he saw the armored hand that painfully gripped it's wrist.

It was the Knightess.

The female knight then suddenly pulled it down and skull connected to steel helmet. The sheer force alone caused it to stagger backwards and howl in pain. The damage done to it's face was catastrophic, whatever was left of it's Maxilla and Nasal Bone was embedded deep into the deformed crater of a face it had left. It was dazed and reeling back. It was about to break.

But it would not break before killing the killer of it's twin.

Its movements were slow and sloppy as compared to the beginning of the fight, but it still managed to grasp the knightess' helmed skull and was to squash it like an overripe melon. Until Oscar's arrow, designed to defeat metal armor, found it's new home in between it's eyes and forced it's head to snap backward. The driving force behind the arrow was so great, that it kept going until the fletched end of the arrow was nestled in between it's brow...but even then it still lingered for a bit. Staggering toward it's fallen twin, and only when it was near the still body of it's twin, it chose to collapse and die.

'Nice. Thank you, System.' Ed thought as he began to assess which of the options they had of visiting was the most beneficial to them now and in the future. Ed quickly put off the village, as they were trying to move away from it as of now. There was also the South. It had signs that there was water there, but also the smell of something dusty that caused him to reflexively sneeze. Splattering the tall grass in front of his face with saliva and snot. "Eugh...gross." Ed cringed as he chose to ignore the snot and spit covered grass and keep moving. The scent to the East was far stronger than the one from the dusty South.

Cautiously, he peered out of the grass to look at the East but saw no signs of any body of water. But the smell was still the strongest among all of the other directions had. Meaning to suggest that the body of water was still a good distance away but was big enough to actually have this strong a scent. If anything, the East was one of their best bets of finding a stable source of water but it looked like that they were still a ways off it. "Guess its going to be quite a walk before we see any water we can safely use." The young ratman commented as they continued Eastward. Eventually they discovered a dirt road, but by the looks of things it wasn't used that recently.

"Well, ain't that interesting. Seems like there are travelers heading Eastward too...but it looks like they had a day or two head start compared to us. Normally, I'd be glad to see something like this but, due to our current circumstances, following this road might spell some trouble for us later on." Following this road to the East and eventually the large body of water was undoubtedly risky, but the high change that they can find a stable source of drinkable water was too big of an opportunity to pass up. "But I suppose it's a better chance of us finding water when compared to the South."

The duo of apes never expected a foe like Ettamri. Most of the opponents they had faced was far weaker than they were, but this armor clad woman was just as, if not slightly stronger, than they were. Just as the second twin caught wind of the Knightess' raw strength, its brother was already being swung at him at breakneck speeds. It would have normally used its strong legs and tail to propel itself backwards, thus negating the attack, but what happened shortly after was anything but what it had anticipated.

A searing bolt of pain shot through its entire nervous system as Oscar's arrow hit its mark and skewered itself into the Ape's knee joint, causing the brute to fall to a knee...just in time for Ettamri's makeshift club to hit it square in the skull. With a sickeningly satisfying sound of skull colliding with skull, the once pristine ivory of the snow was immediately stained with sanguine life fluid. Finally, one of the accursed giants fell. This was perhaps a turning point for the Silver Moon Soldiers?

The first ape laid motionlessly on the ground, the severe gash on its head flowed out it's precious life blood freely. The seemingly unstaunchable flow rapidly staining the snow beneath it even further. Its twin, however, was still alive and very, VERY pissed off. Even with a shattered orbital and the right side of it's face practically was soaked with both it's and it's bother's blood, it reached at Ettamri with unnaturally quick movements and was on the Knightess in seconds. The giant ape's fists were like warhammers banging down on the knigtess; and while her armor plating and padding did it's best to absorb and redistribute the force behind each swing, the sheer force behind each hit was likely to rupture an organ or perhaps even break a bone the longer she was under the mercy of the creature.

What would the Knightess do under such a brutal and unrelenting pummeling?

The noise caused by the raging battle told the ranger that the party was currently engaged in combat. Running up to the peak of the hill before the caravan proper, he saw that they were currently engaged against gigantic ape like monsters that wielded crude but seemingly effective weapons. Everyone was fighting, but it seemed that Ettamri was the only one fighting against two. He did not doubt the capabilities of the Knightess but she was still at a disadvantage. It was time for him to balance out the odds of the fight. Notching a broad head arrow, Oscar takes aim at the ape that just recently landed. Still completely unaware of his arrival. This ensured that his attack would hit its mark without issue nor delay.

'Huh...I expected as much.' Ed comments to himself as he dismisses the error message the System had given him after a short while after asking it to analyze his dream and define what a Nullven Cone was. The System at least told him that his skills were still developing though, which was good cause the skills would be quite useful in identifying things that would be safe to consume as well as see how good an item is. 'Speaking of developing skills, System, please display current skill progressions.' He asked while carrying the bundle of items in his hand made grass mat under one arm.

It wasn't the best grass mat ever, but it was something.

As they walked further away from the village and its increasingly active inhabitants, it occurred to Ed that they had no idea where they should go. The Den was supposed to be their new place of rest, but the bugs, the villagers, and the mountain peak exploding made sure that the Den would be completely unsafe now. To their South and East was even more plains and to the west was the Mountains. 'Mountains?' He thought about it. The place would have an abundance of plant life, fauna, and water but seeing the very peak practically erased from existence, the ratman quickly decided that it was in their best interest to completely avoid the mountains if they valued their lives. That left the trio of further South or East plains. "The mountains are a definite no after that huge explosion. That leaves us with grassy plains to the East and even more grassy plains further South." His stomach grumbled slightly and his throat felt quite dry. "Which ever direction we go to, its preferable that we find a place with or near a stable and clean body of water." Ed then focused his [Beast Sense II] to his hearing first, then his smell, and finally his sight. All to see if he could pick up any signs of water. May it be the sound, the smell, or even a simple glimpse.

As the swing parried the blow of the first ape creature, she was sure that her swing would hit its mark and send the iron rod crashing to the side of the giant ape. And it would have, if not for the fact that these twin apes have been fighting in coordination as if they were one well oiled machine made for combat.

"OWO!" The first ape called out.

Just as the Knightess had prepared to loose the full swing, the second ape swung upwards. Missing her weapon by scant inches, but instead, caused a transient wall of snowflakes to inhibit her line of sight for a brief moment. The feint swing was intentional. In that moment the second called out to it's other twin.

"WOLOLO!"

Ettamri then felt her full force swing hit nothing but open air. With such force hitting nothing, it caused the Knightess to lose her footing and poise for just a second; but a second was all the apes needed. In the corner of her eye, she could see that the first ape had leaped into the air to dodge her strike, while the second was only moments away from drop kicking the Knightess.

The ratman turned to face Asteria. "I agree. This den is no longer a safe place to stay in but, if we need to move quickly, bringing all our things would be a challenge. Not to mention all the bug meat and parts...If we only had more containers." Ed commented as he began pondering what he could to to help the problem. The tall grass was certainly long enough for him to begin making a basic weaved mat. If he managed to make it big enough, they can just wrap the things they can't carry into one big weaved grass burrito. Making the carrying all of the things a little more easy. He wasn't used to making things from scratch but at least he had to try to make one, so at least he can say he gave it his all.

While doing this, Asteria asked him if he needed any of the curative plants they had. He only had one question to ask. "Nah, the first one was sufficient in fixing up the more severe wounds; plus we may need it in an emergency in the future...Also, what the heck is a Nullven cone? Sounds like an ice cream name from one of them fancy ice cream stores." Ed had no idea what the names of the plants were. His analysis skills for plants and materials were still developing. So instead he asked the System. 'System, in addition to the dream analysis, please define what is a Nullven Cone?' The young ratman thought as a follow up to his previous request.

The sounds of snow being crushed underfoot and the flapping of cloth in the wind broke the still silence of the snow covered hills. No longer was Oscar going at a relaxed and aloof pace, the ranger was dashing over hills and slopes like a bat out of hell. In a short span of time, he had covered nearly half of the distance he was away from the main party. His mind was racing with numerous thoughts. Thoughts regarding the remains of a previous group of adventures. Thoughts of their bloodied and broken forms laying still in the snow stained pink by blood or wine. Thoughts if he made the right call and ran back to his party to alert them of the incident further ahead. But most of all, Oscar thought about if he was going to be fast enough to relay the information and save whoever was still alive from the previous party.

It wouldn't be long now; a few more seconds and he would be where the cart and his compatriots would be.
