That emptiness after finishing a long TV show you were really into sucks so much. What do you mean there's no more?

I play video games to experience the impossible, like how in Fallout games you can feel "Well Rested" after a full night's sleep.

I love that every FF is someone's favorite, and probably someone else's least favorite.

No Mercy Wrestling Legends - The continuation of a long running wrestling career roleplay with @Shu. Fiona Chevalier tries to battle her way to the top of professional women's wrestling, making very few friends and a whole lot of enemies along the way.
Black Flags of the Abecean - An Elder Scrolls pirate roleplay GMed by @Shu. Brinlaith, a troubled Nord healer, attempts to survive the pirate-infested waters of the Abecean Sea alongside a group of strangers.
No more than three, and that would be one group RP and two 1x1s. I used to do more a long time ago on other sites, but I've learned a lot about myself since then. I try to only join RPs that I'm very interested in and willing to get invested in, not just out of boredom. That, and I like to spend my free time in a lot of different ways, so if nothing is catching my eye, I'll just find something else to do.
The result lately has been just... joining nothing, but that can be how it goes. I'd rather wait and wait for the right thing to come along than join everything and be too busy when the right RP does come along.
Wow, Fiona texted Kendra again, this sounds like it'll be brutal.
So if she could get past whoever was waiting for her in the first round, Fiona's reward would be an extreme rules match against probably an even tougher opponent. Fiona had only ever fought in one no-DQ match in her career, and while she'd managed to come away with the victory, just barely, it wasn't something she was eager to do again. Using weapons, using the environment, brawling outside the ring, it was all stuff she didn't train in, tactics that didn't come naturally to her.
And beyond that was a triple threat steel cage match where one unlucky wrestler would get left behind, just short of a chance at the title. This was promising to be a grueling August for NMW's top wrestlers, as the winners in many cases wouldn't even get a week off to rest before they had to fight in the next round. It would be a test of endurance throughout the month just as much as it was a test of skill in the individual matches.
All that remained now was to wait and see how the voting panned out. Fiona was confident she would make the cut, but who she'd be facing? She had no idea.
Fiona kept watching for a bit longer to make sure she didn't miss anything important, but when the segment ended and switched over to a recap of the last week's matches, she turned it off. She had resolved to take the day to relax, and even the announcement of the upcoming tournament wasn't going to change that.
She went in search of a show to watch, texting with Kendra well into the evening and chatting about anything and everything other than wrestling. She'd be back to work soon with a challenging month ahead, so Fiona knew she had to get herself well-rested while she could.
Twelve participants... that was more than Fiona had expected, and enough to tell her that she would definitely be fighting in this tournament. She had no idea where exactly her popularity would land her, but somewhere just inside the top ten seemed like a safe bet. And with how Mark explained the matchups, that would mean she'd be up against a top five opponent. Thrown into the fire against Raven Veyn, or Abby Beatific before I can get anything figured out with Keysha, maybe an immediate rematch with Elina... who knows?
There wasn't much point worrying about it until the votes were counted, but Fiona was already feeling motivated to get back in the gym and get training again. The first round matches would be starting on Friday, and there was no guarantee that the scheduling would give her a week off after her loss to Elina.
She picked her phone up off the couch to read Kendra's text. I guess so, she replied, and somehow I doubt this tournament will be the end of it, no matter who wins.
A tournament with fan-voted participants... Fiona's first instinct was that the titles should go to the best wrestler rather than having any aspect of it be a simple popularity contest, but with just a moment of thought it seemed fine. All the best wrestlers were among the most popular too, and would surely secure a place in the bracket.
On a surface level it felt like the most fair way to determine a winner, too, but just like any other match Fiona knew there'd be potential for meddling in the middle of this tournament. Management would probably welcome a bit of those sorts of tactics, as long as it gave them the kind of drama they were looking for.
She still had a lot of questions. How many would get a spot? Would the matchups and seeding be determined by the vote totals? Depending on the number of participants, Fiona wondered if she'd actually have a chance of making the cut. Opening the last show before the vote was bound to help her some, especially with how short the voting window was. While she lost the match, Fiona put on a good show against a highly-ranked opponent, and was still rising in popularity. She'd be fresh in the minds of a lot of fans going to vote.
If I can sneak in, it would probably mean I'd be up against a massive challenge right away, she thought. Her fight against Elina hadn't done her confidence any favors, but she knew those were the kinds of fights she needed to have in order to keep improving. Any chance to get in the ring against tough opponents was a chance she wanted to take.
Fiona had returned to her apartment in New York City after the show in Austin, and for that Saturday she took the entire day off for rest and recovery and a bit of a mental reset. She'd trained extremely hard the previous week in the lead up to her battle against Elina Zamora, only to get pummeled throughout the match and fail to even get Elina to a two-count on her one pin attempt. Kendra had been eager to keep training, wanting to be ready for when she got back in the ring herself, and even suggested they start working with Keysha in the practice ring, but Fiona needed at least a weekend to step away, take a breather, and get her strength back.
Her apartment wasn't huge, but of course living in the city was expensive, and Fiona would have to move right back out if she ever lost her NMW contract. Most 21-year-olds were either in campus dorms, living with multiple roommates, or still stuck with their parents, so Fiona considered herself extremely lucky. The view wasn't bad, her neighbors were quiet, and it was a short trip to the NMW facilities.
She had no plans to even go outside today, though. It was the kind of muggy summer New York day that Fiona wanted no part of, spending the whole day with her hair tied up, no makeup, an oversized t-shirt on, and pants that would only go on when she needed to pick up the food she planned to order in. She had a backlog of video games and a TV show or two to catch up on.
Of course, the day wasn't totally free of NMW, though, as she kept an eye on the time so as to not miss the special livestream announcement from Brent Christi and Mark Trenton. Curled up and comfy on her couch, she flipped the TV over to the stream, grabbing her nearby phone to text Kendra. Stream's live. You watching?
"The crowning of its first champions" caught her attention, and Fiona listened as a tournament was announced. So that's how they're going to do it. She was surprised, actually, as a tournament felt like it left a lot up to chance, when so much seemed to be riding on who these first champions would be. Fiona liked the sound of it, though.
Welcome to the first edition of Merciless Women Monthly's Power Rankings! Today we're breaking down the standings of the NMW Women's Division, or perhaps more accurately, everyone Raven Veyn destroyed on her way to the top. That's right, The Queen of the Goths began her reign as NMW Women's Champion last Friday, and while we wouldn't bet on anyone being able to dethrone her anytime soon, here's how we feel the top 10 hopefuls stack up for the upcoming month of September...
*Note: MWM is an independent fan blog. We are not affiliated with No Mercy Wrestling in any official capacity, and these rankings are purely speculative.
1. Isabella Cadiz
It was a commonly held opinion at the time that the extreme rules battle between Raven Veyn and Isabella Cadiz was the real women's championship match, and seeing the rest of the tournament results, it's hard to argue with that. Isabella knows what it takes to be a champion over the toughest competition, even fighting Raven to a no contest result in their first meeting on the brand. Raven's gained the early upper hand in their rivalry, but no one can deny Isabella is easily best positioned on the roster to make a challenge for the title.
2. Elina Zamora
Elina came blazing into the NMW scene as we all expected she would, with a strong debut win over Fiona Chevalier and two more statement wins in the tournament over Ash Weathers and Ada Eberhard. Despite her defeat in the title match to Raven, Elina remains in the top tier of the division, and we know she'll continue to look for a way to overcome her nemesis and take that gold.
3. Fiona Chevalier
Easily the biggest pleasant surprise of the Rubicon Gauntlet, Fiona looks like the future of the women's division right now. Making it to the semifinal round was a huge achievement for her, with her spectacular, gutsy win over Tanya Redd proving to be a standout match in a night full of highlights. We might be getting ahead of ourselves ranking her in the top 3, but with her only singles defeat thus far being at the hands of Elina Zamora, she's earned it for now. Don't be surprised when she gets booked for a main event match sooner rather than later, because NMW has a rising star on their hands in Fiona Chevalier.
4. Shin Choon-hee
The rankings get a lot messier from here, as pretty much everyone outside the top three have at least one disappointing result on their record. That said, we think Shin Choon-hee is going to bounce back in a big way from her defeat against Fiona Chevalier, and the betrayal of her tag team partner. Look for her to take out her frustration on anyone that gets in her way on the NMW roster, and start building some impressive results. Like Fiona, Shin is a rising star in her own right, and she's just getting settled in at NMW.
5. Katarina Vasić
An 0-2 record really doesn't tell the whole story for Katarina Vasić. She may not be the giant her brother is, but she's still a force to be reckoned with, and already has a main event match against Isabella Cadiz under her belt. Losing to Ada Eberhard in the first round of the tournament wasn't great, but we think Ada's more than a little underrated, and Katarina will quickly claw her way back to relevance in the women's division.
6. Ash Weathers
NMW has a whole squad of impressive young talent, and Ash Weathers is one of the best. In the wake of Fiona Chevalier's tournament run and Shin Choon-hee's high profile signing, Ash has gone a little under the radar, but her results so far speak for themselves. A commanding win over Velvet Zacca proved she meant business, and then two weeks later she refused to let the Beatifics play their games and secured the win over Aubrey. Starting out against Elina in the tournament was a tough draw, and we don't expect it to keep her down for long. She'll be out for blood.
7. Abby Beatific
It's fair to say that stocks in the Beatific twins are down lately, especially where singles competition is concerned. The ringside antics have been hit-or-miss, and on her own against Tanya Redd it was a pretty one-sided defeat for Abby, especially disappointing given the way Fiona Chevalier took Tanya down the very next week. We're not completely out on the Beatifics just yet, and if this were a tag team ranking, they'd be much higher. Expect Abby to make some aggressive moves in the coming weeks to put the spotlight back on herself. We know how crazy she gets when the attention's on her competitors for too long.
8. Ada Eberhard
Ada's gotten a lot of work over the first two months of NMW, and here at MWM we feel like some fans wrote her off too quickly after that loss to Fiona on the opening night. That loss looks like much less of an upset as the weeks go by, and Ada's gained some positive results of her own in the meantime, including a big upset over Katarina Vasić. The Neon Diva is winning fans back, and is looking like a high quality midcard competitor.
9. Keysha Wayne
Keysha has a huge amount of potential, but a mix of poor self-control and just plain bad luck have held her back so far. Letting opponents like the Beatifics get in her head is something she has to avoid if she wants to perform when the lights are brightest. And as for the tournament, someone had to go up against Isabella in round one, and Keysha for better or worse hadn't resonated with fans enough for them to vote her higher. She fought pretty well in the match, though, and that's a good sign that she'll remain in the top 10 of these rankings in the months to come.
10. Tanya Redd
It feels like it's always the same story with Tanya Redd. She wins a big match and looks like she's finally ready to take over the women's division, and then she falls flat on her face. She dominated Abby Beatific, only to overlook Fiona Chevalier in a match that, on paper, seemed heavily skewed in her favor. At this point, it seems like she is who she is: a powerhouse who just can't find the consistency she needs when the pressure's on.
Squashing the old beef was the easy part, as Fiona felt like the rivalry between the two of them had never quite become personal. Building actual trust would take time. Keysha could probably benefit from backstabbing Fiona at a key moment to put herself in the spotlight, but then she would be well-and-truly without any friends, and she seemed to understand she couldn't battle her way through the whole NMW roster on her own.
"Feel free to DM us if you want to talk about anything," Fiona offered. "Maybe we can get to training together." It was easy for Fiona to see the benefits in that. Keysha was a far better striker than either Defiant Dream member, and with time could probably help Fiona shore up a pretty glaring weakness in her skillset.
"Likewise," said Keysha, before excusing herself, leaving Fiona and Kendra to talk amongst themselves.
Fiona shifted the icebag Kendra had handed her up to her forehead, sighing and feeling that heavy tiredness start to really settle in. "What a rollercoaster of a night."
She'd made a new and dangerous enemy in Elina Zamora, a woman who seemed a little beyond her skill level in the ring right now. Her dazzling first few weeks in NMW had hit a speed bump with a tough loss, but after transforming an old rivalry into a potential new alliance, Fiona left Austin feeling cautiously optimistic.
To be honest, Fiona kind of liked where this was going so far. She wasn't sure it would stay that way, but having someone like Keysha approach her with what felt like an honest request for an alliance was a nice change of pace. And she was mostly certain Keysha wouldn't think of setting her up and betraying her to the Beatifics. She knew she wasn't lying about disliking Abby and Aubrey more than she disliked Fiona.
"I'm not gonna promise anything either," she decided, "but I will hear out any plans you or management come up with. Abby and Aubrey are never going to stop playing their little games to get an advantage. They're both beatable in a fair fight, but the only way to get one is to play some games of our own."
There was a reason neither of them were in serious contention for a singles title chance, at least as far as Fiona knew. As a team they were lethal, but when split up and forced to fight without any tricks they weren't too far off Fiona's level. Far from an easy win, but no one on the NMW roster was.
"Who knows? Maybe I'm just dazed and this will all seem like a terrible idea tomorrow," Fiona couldn't help but smile darkly at that, "but if there's anyone that can get me to fight a little dirty, it's the Beatifics." She offered a fist bump in Keysha's direction. "So for now, I'm in."
Well this was an interesting development. Keysha had an 'enemy-of-my-enemy' proposal for Fiona, and she wasn't all that surprised about it. Watching her debut against Aubrey had been infuriating for Fiona even as a neutral, as she couldn't stand seeing the two of them pull their usual bullshit to steal what could've been Keysha's win. It was somehow even more annoying to see Ash Weathers of all people pull off the win when they tried it again.
Her eyes darted between the three of them as they explained the situation. Fiona certainly hadn't forgotten her trip to Miami, Florida a few short months into her career. The incident with the Beatifics happened on her birthday, the same day she first met Kendra in the ring. The match between Fiona and Abby that followed was still the only no-DQ match she'd fought so far in her career, and with Kendra's intervention and help she somehow pulled off the upset. Abby and Aubrey pretty consistently made Fiona's life hell after that, but that win put Fiona on the map for a lot of fans, and was still probably the biggest victory of her career so far.
Getting any kind of win over Abby and Aubrey would be just the pick-me-up I need after tonight... but how am I supposed to trust Keysha?
The royal rumble in Tokyo was the last time Fiona had been in the ring with Keysha, their temporary alliance ending when Keysha used the respect Fiona tried to offer to annihilate her and lead into her signature Onslaught. Fiona didn't want to give up on building some kind of mutual respect with Keysha, because she was right, she didn't really dislike her at all personally, not like how she felt towards Ash or especially the Beatifics. But after over a year of working with Keysha and seeing how readily she threw hands with anyone in her way, this was going to be a tough sell.
"Let's say I'm interested," Fiona said, knowing Kendra would be disappointed if she refused Keysha outright. "I'm guessing you have something in mind? Some kind of plan?"
