What is the Dreamverse?

The Dreamverse is a worldwide telepathic network that connects the sleeping mind. This gives rise to the thought that, while we are asleep, we are more mentally powerful. Generally, most people in the Dreamverse are not aware that others are walking into their dreams or they are venturing into others. The meetings are often miniscule and dont have much of an impact since most people don't remember them.

For a more literal image, think of bubble wrap. Each bubble is a persons own sphere of dream. Their minds world. They are separate from each other, but they do occasionally bump into one another. This allows for dreamers to unconsciously meet others, but neither will remember what happened.

How does lucid dreaming effect the Dreamverse?

As a lucid dreamer that has gained entry into the Dreamverse, you can knowingly influence someone in their dreams for better or worse. For instance, say someone was getting attacked by someone or something and you step in. The way you handle this persons dream will either condemn or inspire them.

Why couldn't lucid dreamers enter the Dreamverse before?

The Dreamverse, contrary to what you might think, is actually very static. Different only between people. It only connects dreamers that are not controlling their 'world'. That is until a lucid dreamer broke through that barrier.

Isn't lucid dreaming in the Dreamverse dangerous?

Yes. Even though you are lucid, you are still directly channeling your subconscious. Because of this, you face fragments of yourself within the boundaries of Dreamverse. Everything from day to day fears to things you have kept hidden deep inside for years. If you cannot overcome these parts of you, they will consume you. You will also face things from your imagination. Friendly... or not.

What about the regular dreamers?

They are not in danger from your subconscious creations. Only the lucid dreamer poses a threat to the regular dreamers.

What happens if I die lucid in the Dreamverse?

If you die in Dreamverse, you die in real life.
Just kidding. Your mind is cut off the network. You will be fine, but you will never dream again.

You mentioned repeating figures.

A repeating figure embodies a trait you have. A unicorn could symbolize purity, a sun could be a cheerful look on life. While a dragon could be greed. Its all about how you interpret them.

How does one enter the Dreamverse?

Imagine a door, and know that it takes you to where you want to go.

What happens if I get caught between dreams?

One of two things.
Either you are found by the dream police or you are captured by whatever lifes there.
If the police find you, you are simply kicked out and cant enter again until the next time you fall asleep. If you are captured, you never wake up and are trapped between dreams forever. Eventually degenerating into some form of goop or a shadow. No one really knows, so be careful.

For years dreamers have been trying to achieve a form of telepathy through their minds and now, they have figured out how. There is no technology, no chemical compound you need to ingest or inject into your body; just sleep. Through various techniques, many people are able to become lucid, or "awake", allowing them to control their dreams.

Until a few years ago, lucid dreamers were not able to break the barrier into this dreamscape. They were mentally barred by their freedom and desire to create an alternate reality. One such dreamer, Rebecca Turner, was able to break this barrier. She found herself amongst regular dreamers and was able to enter and influence their dreams freely. A place where people from all over the world could come together and inspire others.
The Dreamverse.

Disclaimer!

While Rebecca Turner is an expert on lucid dreaming, the Dreamverse is of my creation and she does not support it. Further more, I obtained permission to use her name and she is not affiliated with this role play as anything more than a source of information.

It has been some years since the discovery of the Dreamverse. The woman that discovered the way in made it publicly known, but she kept the way in a secret. She feared the way people could simply wave their hand and cause nightmares. The only ones that knew were her closest friends and a few researchers.

Unfortunately, the information was leaked and soon became common knowledge among the lucid dreaming community. After, people began reporting higher amounts of not just nightmares, but dreams that inspired them.

While travelling the Dreamverse, lucid dreamers often come across repeating figures. Some good, some not so good.
Every person has demons lurking on the inside. Things about themselves they can't let go or they hide from others.

Not to mention that which lives between dreams.

Prologue

How you learn about the Dreamverse is irrelevant. You want to know if its true. So you go to bed, hoping to see for yourself. Once you are lucid, you follow the instructions on how to enter this seemingly magical place.

You stumble into a dream. Certainly not anything you'd ever dream of. It doesn't take long for you to find the one who did. You converse with them for a while before you move on, making sure not to effect their dream.

You find yourself at the edge of their world and see nothing but blackness. What do you mean blackness? I'm a lucid dreamer! LET THERE BE LIGHT!

You aren't the only one between dreams though. In the light, you can see things moving around. At first, you pay no mind, but the light seems to attract more than just inhuman globs of.. stuff. There are ghastly, frightening forms wearing police uniforms. They seem to change shape every so often. You realize they are looking for you. The light goes out and they move on.

You dont want to be stuck in this dream the whole time, so you brave this dense limbo. You dodge freaky clowns, moving piles of goop, and the occasional scary shadow thing. In the distance you can see the pale light of another dream. At last!
It was not to be. Before you could get there, you are stopped by a cloaked figure. It whispers to you in a hollow voice.
To see this world through cloudless eyes, a dream in itself. To keep you here you must remain within good health.
If you find the place you were to stay, it all may go away. If you don't make it in time, it is your soul that shall be mine!"
it placed a shadowy, clawed finger upon your brow and you feel a sense of dread come over you. You blink and it disappears.

You've had enough. You close your eyes and tell yourself to wake up. You are safe in bed! But you aren't. You are still in that black in between. There was no time to wonder why and you race to the next dream. It seemed to be a sort of dream market conjunction. It was filled with all sorts of people, each lucid. There was an information stand at the center and you rush to it. The lady behind the glass box is taken aback.
You look like you've seen a ghost, sugar!"

As you tell the woman what happened, her smile is replaced with a look of pity. She hands you a pamphlet titled, 'What to do if a cloaked figure touches your forehead'. All it said was to drink yourself into a stupor as you wouldn't be around much longer. Accompanied by a map to a nearby bar. You follow it and see a sign that says free drinks to those with <picture of your pamphlet> and walk inside thinking this is complete bull.

End prologue.

This is just a way to get you to think about what might be out there. How all this happens is up to you. Feel free to put it in your opening post. :)
I'm about to post the OOC, but bare with me. I'm still adding stuff.
I didnt even think of dream police! I must implement this..

Yes. It sure does!
Though I'm not sure why someone would dream of memes.
Now I feel like I need to use one. I'm thinking LotR, "One does not simply... enter the Dreamverse."
Bump!
Going to set up the ooc. I'm okay with it just being us four. :)
Kest smiled at the young ladies expression. From it he could tell the man dancing with Odette was in fact, not her boyfriend.
"Good to know I'm not intruding."

Since there were only sparse partners dancing, he could always see Odette. She had taken charge of the dance and wouldn't let her partner take the lead. That was just like her, she was very independent. Plus it looked like he wasn't very good at the waltz. Odette was basically pulling him around the room. This caused Kest to smirk, that is until she stopped, putting her hand to her head, and walking off the dance floor leaving the man hanging.

Kest was going to break away from his own dance to check on her, but he noticed she was looking around rather at him.
"Is something amiss?" he followed her eyes, but only saw a bunch of people. He looked at her and wondered what she could possibly be trying to see.

Indeed a pleasure, Denn. her voice was becoming crisp, the drink was starting to wear off and that meant she was going to start closing up again, but she didn't want to be rude to Denn after he so graciously asked her to dance. This was a ball after all. "Kest wanted me to take lessons before we arrived." one look and you would be able to tell she was lying, and she burst out giggling again, "I'm joking. I took lessons when I was in college. They were free."

All the spinning was starting to make Odette dizzy. She knew she would need to sit and drink some water before she danced again. Unfortunately for Denn, that time was now. She stopped mid dance and doubled over, breathing deeply. When she felt stable enough to stand straight, the room started spinning again. She put her hand to her head and groaned, walking to a nearby table.

"I need to be more careful next time." the words were whispered to herself. Odette knew she couldn't hold her alcohol very well. Combined with with the dancing, it was a recipe for disaster. She crossed her arms on the table and rested her head on them, relaxing her breathing.
Someone needs to post in the next couple days or I am declaring this rp to be dead.
@catchamber
Dont worry about the history. Im not sure I will keep it. o.o
Its.. probably not important in dreams, right?
I'm sitting here looking for my rp and whoa, its at the top! Hahaha.
Here is the sheet. I'm still working on what should be in it, so look out for changes.
