With the events of yesterday afternoon fresh in his mind, Alem Elshadeed kept a close eye on Asahina as she slept. On their arrival to his ‘home’, he had immediately settled Aseela who was quite unused to a method of transportation other than herself. Asahina still in his grasp, the young man quickly brought her inside and laid her to rest on his bed. Removing his cloak and bringing it around himself once again, he drew the covers back across her and could only allow her exhaustion to bring forth sleep. She was unresponsive after her attack on the monster, yet it could not be entirely unexpected when you fully engulfed a foreign object like that without hesitation. The only emotion that could be identified was fear and confusion. Leaning against the wall directly across from his bed, Asahina would rise up with a sudden jerk and immediately be able to spot him. His eyes would meet hers, and with arms still crossed he moved himself from his resting position to get a good look at her. At least she was able to react to her environment, otherwise they’d really be in a tight spot. Asahina had returned to a more meek and worried state. “You won’t hurt me.” Alem replied as though it were fact, not a belief. Alem would exit the room momentarily, returning with a couple pears and a cup of water. Due to his roaming he was not well-stocked on consumables, much of what he carried was with Aseela at all times. Coming beside her, he handed her the cup and placed both pears in her lap before he pulled away, not out of fear but of respecting personal space. As she might notice now, the cloak he covered her with was back on his person for the time being. “I’ve reached out to a friend, he’ll be here shortly. But before I introduce you to him, I need you to look me in the eyes and tell me who you are.” It may have been awkward for her to look up at him and eat at the same time, and so Alem knelt down so their eyes were level with one another. “They captured you, took you from your home, and placed you into a ‘machine’ …why would they go out of their way to do this to you? To go so far as to release a monster and endanger the lives of others, all for either killing you or taking you back. You’re more than you let on before.” Alem was much more talkative now, as much more happened to be on the line. Asahina withheld information that would have likely been of vital use to him in keeping her safe, yet she told him nothing. Either her state of mind brought some kind of amnesia, or she did it on purpose. As strange as it might have seemed, Alem believed that Asahina was an honest person, and that she wouldn’t keep something from him. The way she carried herself, even with that appearance, spoke more than her words. ~-~ “So how’s it looking? Can we get in?” “Getting in isn’t the problem, young lady. It’s finding what we are looking for and getting out without sounding any alarms.” Rika and Okal journeyed from the ‘Oasis’ bar as the others continued to rest. Osa had stirred and awoken just as they were preparing to go, forewarning her about the arrival of a young man who he had hired to join them in their cause. A splitsecond decision, but one he hoped prove beneficial. Even in the early morning the heat was already settling over Agrabah, having Rika wrap her jacket around her waist as she walked beside Okal atop a camel. Given that this trip to find a ‘hero’ of Agrabah would bring them to the outskirts of town towards the west, they had a little time to kill, and it was more than obvious that they were the only ones with a mind for strategy at the moment. “You said something about a Sultan?”Rika asked. Okal nodded, stroking his beard as he did so. Unlike so many others, Okal loved early mornings. The city was quiet and preparing for the day, and it allowed him some peace and quiet before opening time for his own business. Word travels fast, but it traveled to him faster than anyone else. “You talk quietly, so keep this to yourself: He’s alive, as is most of the guard loyal to him. Thanks to that creature you spoke of yesterday, I’ve managed to acquire the information necessary to keep the peace without risking the necks of my men inside. Because of that distraction, it cut the risks right in half.” “So, is he rich?” “In trinkets and gold, yes. Information? No, he is as dry as the ground beneath us. There is more wealth in information than there is any gold, but gold is pretty good too, no?” “Agreed. What about the factory?”Rika pressed. The Sultan had a daughter, and if her hunch was correct then that daughter was the one fueling the factory hidden here. “Underneath the palace, far beneath the prison cells keeping the Sultan captive. My man wouldn’t go any further, but if it is like you described, that is the place you are looking for.” Okal glanced to Rika. “You are certain that is where the Princess might be held?” “It’s a guess, but there’s no way they’d have killed her, not if she's carrying what I think she is.” Rika looked to Okal now, glad to have someone to talk some strategy with for the time being. It was unlikely many people out here understood the importance of it as they did. “How much pull does your guard captain have with the others?” “Enough. If his word won’t count among the fresh ones, coin will. Coin always tempts the weak-minded, and it’s not as if this Empire has any guards of intelligence. However, you do not get as far as I have in this world without knowing never to underestimate your foe, no matter how simple. The stupid ones always seem to surprise you the most.” Nodding her head in agreement, Rika scanned the area once-over. Her hearing detected no heartbeats following after them, and it wasn’t as if they were speaking loud enough to be overheard to begin with. Still, Okal had a point that Rika could agree with. “We can do a head count when we get back, how much further?” “Not far, not far. As long as we stick on the outside we should be fine, look for Aseela, his horse. It is hard to keep those two apart.” Rika had to admit that that horse was gorgeous, and if this guy Okal spoke of was the real deal then their odds of success here were just as good as they were on Hollow Bastion.“All right, and by the way …I think I know how to pay you off for your help.” “Do you now?” “Yes, and it’s a gift that’ll keep giving as long as you do.”
Got something up. You can skip them back to the training field, but feel free to have some hijinks occur so Sakura can't make out Kakashi's face. I'd like to save that as a gag until their relationship grows closer~
Sakura’s motivation for becoming a ninja had meant something once. Sasuke was just the boy young girls wanted, as he embodied everything that mattered at the time: Potential, a handsome face, and some considerable skill to go along with his intelligence. Before all of it, before Sasuke had become her motivation on Team 7, Sakura’s wish was pure. To mean the difference between life and death was being a ninja, and in this world it was strength that helped you succeed. Kakashi had taken his chopsticks and lightly broken them apart once Teuchi and Ayame had returned the bowls to them. Muttering a thanks, Kakashi let Sakura’s understanding of things proceed. She was at a state of mind where she could recognize her faults. He’d probably have smiled at her ability to see what was wrong with her back then, were it not for her next question. Kakashi paused as Sakura made the situation between Team 7 a topic of discussion once again, and met her eyes with his own. The situation with Sasuke and Naruto had been gone over in his head several times prior to taking Sasuke for training, and each time he recognized it as the best choice possible for reasons that could benefit both of them. The problem was that Sakura was excluded from this. Kakashi would accept blame for that, Sakura may even understand why he chose the option he did. He recognized her concerns, but believed she was wrong for claiming his answer didn’t matter. If an answer didn’t matter, there was no sense in asking it in the first place. Playing the role of the stoic student didn’t mean anything here, as there was quite clearly going to be something Sakura wanted to take away from his answer. A truth she never had the time to ask before, or perhaps not even the courage. After allowing her a moment to comment on the bond between Team 7’s members, Kakashi looked to his bowl and set his chopsticks down. “I’ll explain because you asked, but listen closely: I did ask for someone to help teach Naruto a thing or two, although I don’t know if you’ve heard of him. His name is Ebisu, and like me he is a teacher of his own squad. The Third Hokage’s grandson, Konohamaru, is one of the members of that squad. While I took care of Sasuke’s training, Ebisu aided Naruto in the basics of chakra control, something he was sorely lacking in unlike you.” Kakashi returned his eye to her again, knowing he at least owed her eye contact while he said this.“The term you must have been looking for is that my answer wouldn’t change anything, rather than matter. The truth is that you and Ino had tied, you had been dropped from the Chuunin Exams and that left Naruto and Sasuke to compete. Instructing one in the art of jutsu isn’t as simple as telling them how to climb trees. It would take hands on training, and I didn’t have time to give you a strong lesson on how to make it effective. I considered asking Kurenai Yuhi, but seeing as Shino Aburame made it into the finals I believed she would have already had her hands full. This left you the opportunity to work on what you saw fit for the entire month, and perhaps even encourage you and Ino to train together.” Kakashi fell silent for just a moment, allowing Sakura to let this all make some sense to her. A ninja couldn’t always wait for an instructor, and taking initiative was a strong sign of dedication. From what Pakkun managed to tell him, Sakura had become determined to see the mission to race after Sasuke during the invasion, yet had not shown much in remarkable combat ability. Breaking a genjutsu was impressive, yet Sakura’s talents made that to be expected. Truth was, she did not do much herself for the month alone, even when she proved herself mature enough to take action. “I apologize if you believed it was wrong of me to not give you any attention regardless, but Sasuke needed training, training only I was fit to give him. From your point of view it might have been a little unfair, and in mine it was justified. I didn’t need my sensei to tell me to come up with a new technique, and I didn’t need my sensei to tell me when to train and how to do it. I had my sensei help guide me as I was instructed, but I never sat and waited to be told what I could do with my talents. Sakura, I want you to follow that example too. When the day comes that you’re in my position, and you treat your squad to lunch, I want you to let them know that it’s okay to train independently on their own time so you won’t need to have this conversation with your own students.” That only left their bond. “I should have done more with you three, but Sasuke’s trauma, his drive to become powerful, it overwhelmed any chance he might have had in being with us. It was only during training that he was content with himself, but the stronger he began to see Naruto, the more he must have felt inadequate as a result.” It would all come back to Sakura’s misunderstanding of what Sasuke needed all this time, and he didn’t wish to say it, but Sakura was showing improvement emotionally.“Sasuke didn’t need a lover, he needed a friend. He had that in Naruto, and it still wasn’t enough to overtake his rage. I’ve begun to wonder if I ever had a chance at reaching him and pulling him out of that darkness, but I remembered he had Naruto and you to help him, and I realize now that it wasn't up to me alone to save him as his teacher.” Kakashi’s appetite waned, and his attention returned to the bowl in front of him. The aroma was delicious, yet the topic and what it was becoming had begun to take it away. Sakura needed to understand that seeking to become a lover before a friend was foolish and inconsiderate, yet she was beginning to understand on her own how silly her past actions might have been. “When you look back at the days in the academy and you see Sasuke sitting a short distance away, were you wondering how his day was, or were you wondering if he’d notice how beautiful you are? The priority for understanding one another shouldn’t be the latter. I’m sure you understand that now, because your attitude is showing me a side to you I’ve wanted to see for a long time now.” Kakashi glanced at her and nodded his head, hoping her response would be as inspirational as he hoped he might have been in these past couple minutes. To reach someone important to you, you had to understand them, or at least open yourself up to their feelings. From what Naruto told him after their battle, he was unable to do such a thing, and Sasuke was lost to them for now. “Let’s talk about this another day, okay? For now, dig in, we’ve still got some daylight to burn, and the hand seals won’t make themselves.”
God forbid any one of us go afk due to college, traveling abroad, vacation, or any offline obligatory demands that fill the shoes of our online time.
I've already made clear why I made the decision, and I already received permission to do it.If you still don't understand why the decision was made, I can't do much more about it. I'm gonna let you feel how you want to and keep doing my thing.
In Wolfe's case, he bowed out from what I am understanding of what Sole is saying, others that haven't posted in an even larger window of time (Hero and doc are among these people) have characters that are still alive, but are essentially not contributing, so what do you do about them?
Perfect Anarchy
If you call a month or two 'periodic', then we're going to have to disagree. That death was not the result of a couple weeks absence, that was the result of two months inactivity and not a word of being busy from them. As Pierce made mention to me, ColorMeEvil is gone, and had not made plans to return to the plot. In fact from what I've read he just doesn't have any idea what he likes to do any more and has withdrawn, once again what Pierce mentioned above. ColorMeEvil was not stuck, he was not waiting on anyone, he has basically withdrawn without a word here but rather over Skype to Pierce at some point in the past, and would not accept his aid to get back into things. He is an NPC now, and I already got permission from the GM to eliminate inactive members of the cast who have zero interest in returning to the plot. Wolfe had respected Pierce enough to send a pm informing us of his approaching absence due to real life obligations, and so I have no qualms with Minoru being left to go on off-screen adventures in the desert sea and whatever worlds he ends up next. He made an effort to get into the plot, he made an effort to interact with other characters, and that is effort ColorMeEvil did not offer. His character had no established ties with anyone and so he was just a loose end I used to remind the viewers of a background party at play manipulating things as best they could. It would be no different if I had Pepper, Pierce's character, do it. She'd be dead either way. What I do with Doc is leave him be for the time being, as his character's death does not serve an immediate purpose. Furthermore, he gave us word he was having a rough patch in his life and posting would prove difficult, if not impossible. He gave us all warning, he respected us enough to do so, and so I see no real need to remove Tristan. Hero's character is in the same boat, her death serves nothing right now, but as I know Hero from another site her disappearances are often. Pierce and I knew this, we were not surprised by her absence. Coriander's character serves no purpose as it is and Kal quite clearly has no interest in returning to the roleplay, so at least with his death I might be able to set another plot-advancement up. All this in mind, I got permission from the one who directs this roleplay, and he had allowed it under the conditions I put forward. Should you still have a problem, take it up with him in PM's or over Skype, because I won't retcon the event unless he tells me to, and I seriously doubt someone gone for two months voluntarily has any interest in what happens in the story any longer. I clearly warned everyone in the last page, nearly two weeks ago, of my intentions to remove inactive characters and no one had said anything then. tl;dr - Take it up with Pierce, otherwise don't know what to tell you. His 'call' was allowing me to remove him via IC death.
If you don't post for a month and don't tell anyone you're busy, you've effectively left in a disrespectful manner, especially if you're posting elsewhere anyway. Plus, Pierce allowed me to, as you see above. Nothing personal, just a little fun.
Mikuru has been killed off. Next: Coriander. I'll make a full post over the weekend, quite possibly Friday afternoon but no promises, staying on top of my college game atm.
Winter had come to Hollow Bastion, bringing bewilderment to the old and excitement to the young. Snowflakes of the purest white coated the structures that formed the once great city, temperatures sinking to a chilly but reasonable cold that would not cause great harm to those in poverty. A woman of immaculate physical beauty was traveling along the backstreets. Dressed in a wool coat that was as white as the snow falling to the ground, the individual’s pale legs were perfectly revealed beneath it. Shapely as her figure was, the temperature of the world as it was now should have brought some harsh discomfort to the ordinary individuals of the world, but this woman was not ordinary. And she was after someone. Halting once she found a lead on her target, she planted her brown boots on the ground firmly. Instantaneously her body had shifted into a thousand petals of white before traveling skyward, only to reform at the site of a recently ruined warehouse. From there she formed herself, standing casually as her target raced forward. Upon seeing her again, the target turned to flee once again, but was quickly halted as a brewing storm had encircled both the target and the pursuer in this zone. “Okay, that’s enough of that shit, I’m tired of following you now.” Mumbled Yoko, her deep blue eyes offering no hint of patience. Brushing back her white fringe, her attention was brought to the targets left arm, having turned discolored after their brief encounter several minutes prior to this moment. Still, her amusement was draining, and it was time to get underway with what this was really about.“Look, I said I was going to kill you, so we’re doing this now. You never had a chance to outrun me, I’m pretty much Death.” Her eyes narrowed and she looked off to her left. “Okay, his daughter, but still, second coming and all.” “Why are you trying to kill me!?” Shouted Mikuru over the roar of the storm, clutching onto her frozen arm uselessly. She had lost feeling in it since their first clash. She had managed to cast her ability on Yoko, but Yoko won in the long run. “I didn’t do anything to you!” “Because it’s hilarious to me.” Yoko replied plainly, stepping closer to Mikuru and sending chills of fear and bitter cold down her spine even further. Mikuru flinched and tried to step back, but it was even colder behind her than it was near Yoko herself. Going through this barrier would mean she’d die, and facing Yoko was her only option. Either way, she was fucked.“Well, okay, maybe not just that. Hold on.”Yoko paused, retrieving a small slip of paper from her coat pocket. Unfolding it, she casually looked over the contents and began to read to Mikuru. “Yoko, I had Pepper write this down in case you managed to forget your task. Maintain discretion, don’t show off ...blah blah blah …oh, here: Start with ‘Mikuru’ and work your way up as you feel necessary, don’t interact with the active members of the Empire if it can be helped. There!” “That doesn’t explain anything!” Mikuru cried “Explaining things to someone who’s already dead is a waste of my precious time, and you’ve already wasted enough.” Yoko peered up at Mikuru, then back down at her notes, appearing unimpressed.Within the notes was a detailed list of what Mikuru could do, and none of it was going to make her an entertaining foe. “Oh, you’re one of those people. Speed, boring, but you’re not outrunning the cold. So that leaves you with …increased physical strength, which won’t matter because I’ll freeze you to death if you come that close. You can use that defense spell thing but you can’t defend from the cold, not like my power is based on magic anyway. Your attempt at halting my movements was your best shot, but as you can see it cost you an arm. Knowing anything about me is useless because you’re dead so Libra or whatever is out of the picture, aaaaaaand lastly we have some darkness spell that you can’t use right now.” Folding the note and pocketing it again, Yoko shrugged her shoulders. “You’re dead, yeah, no getting around it. So just expose your neck and I’ll make this quick for you.” “L-Like hell!” Mikuru argued, although without the use of her dominant arm she was left in a poor position. What could she do? “I haven’t even touched you yet and you’re moaning too much.” Yoko yawned quietly and raised her right arm, index finger pointed towards Mikuru. “Between you and me I was going to sleep with you first, but something told me you’d be a pretty lousy fuck. And you’re whining so much that I’ve reconsidered using my blade. It’s over now, Ciao~” “What—“ The storm that surrounded them and repelled all citizens had collapsed onto Mikuru in an instant, enveloping her in the unforgiving grasp of death’s frigid embrace. It was quick and painless, and although the rushing wind and snow had ceased once Mikuru was covered, all it left was a frozen statue that encased the girl within, a last look of horror on her face. The falling snow around Hollow Bastion had ceased, Yoko’s hunt concluded soundly, but at least the good people could enjoy a little snow in the middle of spring. Approaching the statue with a smirk, she flicked it with her finger, and immediately it had collapsed into diamond dust without a trace of Mikuru to remain. “Alright, who was next again?”
After having a talk with Pierce and given the direction this roleplay is heading, I'm going to be removing previous limitations I fairly gave my characters. He has agreed to this.
**“Of course he would!”** Lin was quick to reinforce her point, amused by Shizuka’s own surprise. The impression that girl could make was a strong one, and it was funny to see her squirm under the pressure of trying to impress someone. Lin understood that feeling all too well, so it was nice to see someone else experience the butterflies in ones stomach for once. Taking the empty cup from her hand after smoothly finishing hers, Shizuka had made mention to something Lin had already considered. Being Han’s little sister should have meant a lot, but she believed Shizuka didn’t quite understand the situation she was in. Lies and secrets can be cruel, yet could also be used to protect someone or something very dear to you. Lin had never doubted her brother’s love for her, and he never allowed her to either. Opening up was a lot harder than keeping the doors closed. Shizuka seemed to underestimate her brother’s strength of will in favor of optimism, this was one of those times where Lin could not easily agree. Shizuka tugged her gently into her hold, hugging her in kindness and care that momentarily made Lin think of her mother. The exhaustion of the events leading up to arriving in this world were beginning to take stronger hold, but Lin allowed herself to stay attentive for just a little longer with arms wrapping around Shizuka. **“If you’ll be my friend for as long as you live, I’ll be your friend even after our lives end.”** Lin muttered, though with her lips pressed against the fabric of Shizuka’s clothing it may have been hard to make it out. Of all things she wanted right now, sleep was slowly making its way at the top of the list. Before Shizuka could offer another word of advice, Lin was soundly asleep in her grasp. ~-~ As Yu was prepared to leave, a certain small but honest merchant (but not really) stumbled past him with two men, both with red sashes around their waists. **“Is it time yet?” ** **“It would seem so, we have visitors from other worlds eager to put an end to all this. This is the opportunity we have been looking for.”** Okal would mention to one of his companions, gesturing towards the bar. The two men had seated themselves there, leaving Okal to be between the two. **“It doesn’t hurt to have a little outside assistance to remove an outside problem. Our patience shall pay off, I assure you.”** The two men looked at each other, a mixture of joy and concern on their faces, leaving a very difficult expression to read. ** “Will ‘he’ help?”** **“He? By ‘He’ you must mean our own hand to play!”** Okal rubbed his hands together.** “You leave me to inform him. It will not hurt to have other options for aiding us, but Agrabah only has one hero.”** ~-~ **“Both arrogant and stupid. You waste time because yours is worth none. Good to know, outsider.” **Alem summed up Salforge’s actions quickly, not bothering to struggle. Playing games with someone whose actions had no higher cause or purpose other than to irritate the other and seek attention was not a game he wished to play. Dismissing his khopesh and turning towards Asahina, Alem guided Aseela to Asahina’s side. At the very least he’d take advantage of the barrier that kept the foreign creatures at bay. Seeing her whimper as a result of her actions against that beast, Alem could not find the time to console her, especially now. Asahina had a weak disposition, and this wasn’t the time or place to mend that weakness. Taking her hand and holding it firmly, Alem gave a glance towards a nearby alley, eying seemingly nothing. The sands that suspended around them gave him the hint that there was a presence hidden beyond the barrier, and with a plea to his higher being, Allah, Asahina, Alem, and Aseela vanished instantaneously leaving no trace behind.
