YEAH. I could NOT believe he thought that the character was balanced in ANY form. I know elder characters are generally meant to have a strong moveset, but you can't be pushing like 80 years old and still be at your peak of power. No character in Naruto who was that old could maintain all that power and take on someone three times younger than them with ease. So people see these characters they make and don't look at them objectively. They think they're balanced because they made them.

Oh, I'm confident you did it well. I plan out romances sometimes, it's always nice not to though.

I prefer honesty like you, it's too bad others don't.

Basically they're inherently wrong because they are playing God, yeah. Bolin and Korra can meet a new firebender at the arena, which will push Korra more and more into wanting in on Lin's investigation. That can either result in Lin declining and Tenzin encouraging her to continue her training so she can bend fluently again, or them including her. I see the former happening, much to her dismay.

Redemption for the 'bad' people in Republic City that lost it. If they change, maybe she'd give them back, but it's a face to face thing she'd need to do with everyone.

If Asami is to force two good people to drink a mixture, I think maybe Xana should offer at least a small hint as to what it's meant to accomplish. For all she knows it might take theirs away, even if Xano himself said that Tenzin and Lin are people he'd rather work with than against and he has respect for them both. I think if Xano and Xana are ready to test the youth serum on others, they could ask Asami if she would like to provide it to them personally. The actions that are meant to take place all depend on when things are done. Tenzin would never accept the serum willingly since these people are responsible for his wife passing.

Yikes. I don't think I'd ever be a cliche OC writer, at least not to that extent. Some of those things wouldn't be so bad if the other detail in them wasn't present.

I've seen a Naruto character with like EVERY jutsu the Kazekage in the past had (Like Gaara, his father, etc) and he can react to just about anything, but the only weakness he had was that he was 'slow'. Gaara was slow too and he could kill just about everyone in his age group, yet I'm supposed to think that's balanced? And THEN this guy made a character who wanted to be Mizukage, and I told him that he can desire it but he won't get it due to plot reasons (being that the Mizukage was 'dead' but the village wasn't ready to take another because it's a large space to fill and they need to be careful), and he tried SO hard to show my character (son of the Mizukage) up. Like I make it clear multiple times that he has the village's support so a coup wouldn't happen, and if I had a handful of people appear to report to him as well as inform that guy that they wouldn't tolerate a coup, THAT asshole magically had a battalion of guys appear that supported him when I make it CLEAR EVERY TIME that there's no way a coup would happen without him losing.

So I've seen some SHITTY Naruto characters and people behind them. I am permanently cautious around people who make their own characters because most of them are bullshit anyway. I KNOW we won't ever be those people but everyone else might...

I believed our original idea was that Xana and Xano were not greedy, they only had a vision of the world that was far different from Amon's. After Amon's conquest he left many without bending, and I don't believe Korra's put it together yet that she can try to restore most of the city who lost it. I was going to bring this situation up with Bolin in the next skip because it provides Korra with her own small arc of what to do, since not everyone deserves their gifts since they used it for evil, but what if they worked for redemption? Just something for her to think about.

Anyway funding for their projects is probably costly so I can see Xano taking bribes for bending again for certain criminals, and possibly doublecrossing them later with a temporary mixture rather than a permanent one. No matter what though, Xano has ambitions that aren't entirely good and Xana is the one who will work to stop him later on. If Lin and Tenzin get the mixture from Asami, I can't see a reason for Tenzin to take it. Any reason Lin might?

I think OC's can work well as long as the setting isn't smack dab in the middle of the fandom's main story and they insert themselves in it to be made really important somehow. The OC's that just want to be romanced though? Yeah, lame.

I already told you before Naruto spawns the worst characters imaginable, makes me sick just thinking of all the overpowered boring characters I've had to read through. Is there really such thing as a bad Harry Potter OC though?

I think MAYBE, MAYBE, we save the air case. Due to the staggering lack of air benders I don't think Xana and Xano would want to find someone to carry said power YET, it's too precious. The cases of Water, Fire, and Earth are surprising enough for Tenzin. The fact benders are suffering yet normal civilians are gaining those powers IS notable imo, because it's something that has never in the history of the world occurred. It furthers the hypothesis that someone truly is behind this, that it's not some random epidemic.

I think SOME characters are difficult to use well but not nearly all of them. The OC's and canons debacle can be cool, but not when it's meant to be played out as a character getting smitten by an OC instantly when they've never been huge on the opposite sex anyway. Like, imagine Shikamaru of all people being forced to be smitten by some new chick who is magically smarter than him or something stupid like that. I used Kakashi with some girl's OC once and she made Tsunade kiss her character's ass so hard it was pathetic and discomforting. I am ALL for OC's but not when you just want them for a power trip or to make yourself better than everyone else. She even had Tsunade threaten Kakashi if he messed with the OC, how lame is that shit? But OC's can be great, I just think you're not used to having good ones :D

That sounds about right for a skip. What's important is that the plot thickens in the case somehow since Tenzin's been out of commission, but it's been a BAD time for Lin to bring anything up so she didn't. She can bring up people gaining bending in this current skip.

I agree, especially in the case of Naruto and the butchering of so many characters as well as the lack of usage. Nothing wrong with using canons as long as you know what you're doing and don't exaggerate too much. Like that one partner you had that played Shikamaru and just didn't DO anything because, "WHAT A DRAG." x 1000 xD

And then Bolin gets them banned from a bakery because "ITS ROTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!" or some other ridiculous qualm he has. Hope he won't be that way if Korra ever made him something!

A week away might be good for them. It gives Tenzin a chance to try and move on without the pressure of the kids around. Lin making a statue on the island to honor Pema would be the best thing she could do for him to help lift his spirits up. Too soon for spirit world, I agree. Then Tenzin might be able to inch himself into the casework Lin has had to handle without him for the past week, since this is still a threat to people.
