Yeah unless Yoko has some demon shenanigans, I don't see Botan coming much farther than that unless she dedicated at least a decade into it, and she doesn't have the heart of a fighter so he'd teach her enough to keep her alive. I can see Kuwabara being MAD salty if Botan can catch up to him after just a year xD and roses in her hair? Bonus points if it's the color of her hair, or a silver one that matches Yoko's hair color. So rare that only Yoko could have given it to her. Hopefully Botan doesn't go around abusing the power of the name and the scent though. Come on girl, stay classy xD

Lol so many activities. I think Botan's going to fall in love with living the life of a teenager as much as she will Kurama, what with how much she has to get excited about. Though Kurama might be bombarded with questions, I see him confirming nothing more than their mutual happiness. BOTAN on the other hand is probably going to have a few drinks and be ready to spill some shit Kurama didn't want her to tell anyone xD

Haha xD oh, Botan, don't give future mom-in-law a heart attack. It would be nice to not conceal anything after that situation is over, but I do wonder if Botan's going to be able to handle the pressure of being close to her when she has inside information that tells her exactly when she'll die. Hopefully not until those grandkids are born >.< don't think Kurama will ever blame Botan for telling him. It was better that way.
Speaking of holding her own, what demon class do you think she could end up beating within a year if Kurama really took her training seriously, as does she? MAYBE B? Too much? She barely fended off the Makai Insects during the Saint Beast arc, but she wasn't trained for much combat then. If they're to work cases together and Botan does not want to be a burden, I'm wondering if she might ask for training first, or if Kurama will need to bring it up? It can be something to strengthen her healing, and then she brings it up to him? And, as to the name dropping, the demon might not believe her. Yoko wasn't one to brag about his achievements, at least I don't recall him being one to brag. Any woman could claim their lover is whomever, but Botan dropping the name may not be enough, thus maybe the scent, or something Kurama gives her that proves she isn't just anyone in that world. Then rumors of Yoko's woman being a grim reaper--and a bombshell--start racing and then they eventually make their way to poor Koto xD

Oh snap we didn't think about holidays! Botan's gotta be a witch I mean come on it'll be adorable >.> Kurama can be... we'll get back to that part xD I do think Kurama isn't one to start rumors or encourage their spreading. Yoko might. Hell, Yoko might put the word out that if he catches anyone trying to get comfortable with Botan, their days are fucking numbered xD but the Shuichi part of Kurama would never allow such a brash thing to happen haha. It'll be an interesting first week they spend together, that's for sure.

Yes, it should get to the point where Yoko's reappearance from Kurama's base form might have some bold Demon's that are B-class or higher attempt to take him on, some with underhanded means like threatening Shiori--which never works out for anyone, I mean remember that blue fucker? REKT--and Botan is just a nail in the coffin. No mercy. They're done for. It'll be Botan's job to keep Shiori from freaking out once she sees Kurama straight slaughtering motherfuckers and transforming into someone else that is quite the opposite of Shuichi. Might also wanna sneak in a "I'm the grim reaper--well, one of many!" while she can xD and THEN Botan can get her safety loving.

I thought as much. I do want there to be, at one point, a demon that fucks with Botan and then she mentions how upset Kurama is going to be. The demon asks who Kurama is and why he's meant to care about her boyfriend, until Botan refers to him by another name, Yoko, and the demon's just either GONE or begging her to just arrest him xD anything but Yoko. Or some demon can smell Yoko's energy on her and is just OUT! Botan is walking demon repellent after that.

It's the plan; it could also make Botan a little more popular among some girls--while still having haters--because they aspire to be like her... and maybe ask about what Kurama is like, since no one really knows about him outside of class. Likewise, Kurama may have some guys approach him about what type of girl Botan is like, as well as some classic perverted questions. Big mistake thinking Kurama is just 'one of the guys' and he'd talk about his girlfriend so recklessly, even if it is pretend. Gotta be protective.

Yoko could have had more than one enemy. Some people might just think about taking him on because it would increase their fame, sort of like bounty hunters? Yoko's been independent for a long time and not many have come as close as Karasu to beating him. But now Yoko has a woman they will try to exploit, which is a far more dangerous game to play than using Shiori against him, but just BAAAARELY. I don't think Botan wants to see what Kurama would do to someone who threatened her life, much, MUCH less what Yoko does. Scary shit.
I'm PRETTY SURE the safest place Botan could be in that town is beside Kurama, Yusuke, and maybe even Kuwabara. Yoko's name still carries some respect and fear among Spirit World residents and criminals. If anyone knew Botan was currently Yoko's girl, she'd have some serious perks--and haters-- for it.

Well Kurama's hair is also pretty out there, so they're just Red and Blue together. I think the exotic hair also adds to Botan's natural charms, but I don't know how long she can endure her locker having a dozen confession letters each day. Maybe the attention is the catalyst that finally makes them come out and claim they're dating to ease some of the tension off of her?

I think it'll get very popular once Kurama AND Botan are involved, but people give up within a week because it takes a degree of patience and tolerance that they weren't prepared for. It can be a serious subplot that helps Botan discover a love and affinity for flora, and helps bring them closer as people. And like you said, there will be some free time without the awkwardness of Shiori around (they love her, but it'll still be awkward if she walks in during an intense moment) to get more hands-on with this relationship of theirs. So we've got a lot of filler to work with until they finally close in on who is behind those suicides.
Yeah I agree there. Maybe she just doesn't plan on taking her craft any farther, and that's fine. Doesn't hold us back any.

It does make some sense. I think Kurama at his base can fall in love with Botan as she is, but the Yoko part of him would want more from who is to be his mate. He'd want strength in both power and emotion, and bravery as well, with plenty of intelligence behind the beauty. He wouldn't expect her to be as strong as him, but she'd be strong enough to give anyone a good fight. And bravery could be bravery enough to just stand up to him about something and not show any fear. Botan's gotta have a dom side to her xP

I don't know about graduating; I've fallen behind so much. School just isn't worth it some days. Steve Jobs didn't go to college and look what he accomplished. I wonder if I can do the same with writing.

I'm happy saving any other questions and Shiori/Botan moments until after dinner, where we can resume it. I say nudge them to the school and after that we can work on the clues they may eventually find. Kurama's face might be one of embarrassment; it was bad enough when his mother made the assumptions, but now his peers are growing involved. Who would have thought that Kurama would show up with such a beauty one day? The guy didn't even date at his own school. Secret girlfriend? Oh boy~

That sounds like a reasonable schedule to me, but we CAN shave off a class if there was such thing as a club for Kurama. Maybe there is some sort of gardening club or whatever that he can be a part of, and Botan joins to help keep them together. Maybe it even becomes a new hobby of hers she never knew she'd love? If that happens then we can say school ends at around 4 and clubs are around for a couple more hours after that. We can manage to work in minor cases during the next few weeks. It could be minor demons that Kurama trains Botan on how to combat (since he'd slaughter them) and Botan can show Kurama how she tends to her job. Maybe he can help calm someone down in her stead to prepare them to pass on?
I was absolutely trash so yeah, you can only get better by working at it and not being afraid to try new things. People who limit themselves are only doing half of what they might truly be capable of. Oh well.

Agreed.

What sort of angst do you see with Yoko involved?

I am not going to complain if you do so xP no problem with the color, glad I could help you. I had to drop a class last semester because the teacher was just so freaking dull. I couldn't learn a thing from him; he was dead inside, yet must have thought he was REALLY GOOD somehow. Nice guy but completely worthless as an instructor.

Botan should be shown her room. From that point on, if Botan stays I think it will just be a lot of questions from Shiori's end because this is the first she's ever heard or seen of Botan, and I imagine she would encourage Botan to come by more often whenever she needs anything. Maybe they leave while Shiori makes dinner to both grab Botan's things and enter the school later in the evening to take a quick look around without the pressure of classes and students around, then arrive in time for a warm meal and to make the final preparations for school the next day. I don't think even Kurama is prepared for how popular they're going to be. I mean Kurama was already well-liked, but having Botan with him is going to score him major points with the other guys. It'll be an interesting first day.
Well if you try to force her into doing it, it makes you into the bad one, and I know you're not the bad one. You can help people but only if they want you to. If she wants to stick to girls out of discomfort portraying a male, then that is her choice, and it will sadly cut her off from very good writers like yourself in the future. My personal concern isn't the gender, it's my ability to portray characters that holds me back sometimes. Me being a guy doesn't make me a better Kurama or Tenzin than the next guy. Hope she finds some courage soon.

You've got a good group of things to do and even some offsite ones--unless those were canceled--so yeah, I'd say you are doing just fine for yourself.

It will probably be vanilla sweet, much like... huh, actually I think we didn't have a pairing that would start it any other way. Slow, sensual, tending to one another's needs--yeah, I'd say that fits Kurama and Botan too. When they're not trying to destroy threats, they'll be doing couple things xD

Take your time. What always ends up crushing us, and it's 99.9% me, is the stress of schoolwork and writing a good post. I want you to write it when you're comfortable doing so, and if you need to get some work done for your classes then I encourage that. I can wait. As long as we're not going over a week again and can keep this progressing at least once a week, I'd say we're doing better than usual!

By the way, I foreshadowed in that post and it got me giddy. That whole bit about Botan's spiritual energy >.< I liked it; we gotta give her some abilities later that are dope as fuck.
Distraught was definitely the easiest way to put it.

Kurama could only imagine the anguish that came from the unexpected passing of someone with so much to give to the world, whether by benefitting humanity as a whole, or just the existence of a single person. Without the foresight that Botan held with her position as a grim reaper, Kurama knew that Meiko had made people happy. She was not very popular, but she was someone that other people cared for, and people had lost that until they joined her in the next world.

He continued to listen closely to the details Botan offered him. Meiko couldn’t remember what was going through her head before she had chosen to jump. He didn’t want to believe it—especially after their struggles during the Dark Tournament—but it seemed to be something only a demon could instill. As much as he wanted to know more, Botan had caught the enticing aroma of baked breads and sweets. Giving pause to the current discussion, she wanted to go inside and get something to eat. She would find no argument from him; there was no rush to confront a foe they had no information on, and her details would not suddenly cause the answers to fall into their lap. When she took hold of his hand and brought him inside, he gave a soft smile at her back despite the horrible circumstances that brought them together.

Kurama took note of the well-decorated interior and approved of the cosmetic decisions within. The stencils were a good touch, but the color scheme was nothing compared to how clean everything looked. He made a mental note to return here with her at some point.

Joining her at the counter, Botan justified her sudden interest in baked goods that kept his smile going strong. “I’m not complaining, Botan,” Kurama said with quiet laughter, watching as she scanned the menu. He made a quick note that she was a very particular girl when it came to treats. The selection was wide, but this was not a decision the reaper intended to make lightly. After she had finally chosen her treat of choice, it was his turn. “I’ll take a cinnamon roll and some milk.” He kindly requested. Paying for his own items, he rejoined Botan outside and took a seat at the table she had chosen for them.

The outpouring of details continued. The suicide of both Meiko and Anabe were not recalled, going against how deliberate it was to slice one’s wrists open in the bathroom. It was possible that Meiko’s death was foul play. The school had sent everyone home and launched an investigation the day that she had fallen. There was no evidence of a struggle from where she had jumped—it couldn’t have been anything more than the decision of a troubled girl. Or so they thought. Botan’s mention of records had sealed that possibility for Kurama entirely. Their lives were not taken by their choice but by the choice of another influence, another being.

Kurama ate his cinnamon roll and drank his milk, allowing her to continue on. His expression did not change when she told him of her plans. His senses rarely betrayed him, but Botan had access to tools that he did not have, nor did he believe he needed. At this point, anything would be helpful, and he was invested in this case. When she concluded, he chewed the last of his cinnamon roll and drank the last of his milk. Setting the cup down and dabbing at his lips with a napkin, Botan’s request had made his eyes widen and his cheeks slowly tighten up with amusement.

“It would be my pleasure, it’s just—“He paused and held a loose fist up to his mouth, trying to conceal his laughter. “I’m sorry, it’s just hard imagining a grim reaper being concerned about a bad hotel.”

Kurama was no fool. He knew that there were as many bad men in a position of power as there were good. Botan’s attractiveness would certainly grab the attention of terrible men who intend to extort and prey on her. She had to have known that herself and did not want to bring harm on people who did not know what they were dealing with, even if they were despicable. She had survived the Makai Insects and even lived to see the Dark Tournament’s conclusion; Botan had the strength of a fighter deep within, holding power yet untapped. Even if it could not be manifested into a concentrated blast of energy as readily as Yusuke’s, or wielded as a blade of energy like Kuwabara, it was still strong and pure. It only needed to be tended to—nurtured with the care of one overseeing the growth of precious flowers.

Kurama’s fist fell, but his smile remained just the same. “I’ll have to talk to mother about it. We don’t have company over often, much less staying with us, so I’m sure she won’t mind the arrangement.” He was confident that Botan’s presence would be welcome, and left little doubt that she would be refused.

After Botan had finished her meal, they set out for Kurama’s home. Telling a lie to his mother was never comforting, but it was always for the sake of her peace of mind. Together he had bounced off potential stories Botan could use; she was new to the school and transferred from another part of Japan, but due to some confusion during the move she was unable to pay for housing elsewhere; her parents are fighting far too frequently, and she wants to get away from it for a little while by staying with a close friend; Kurama had helped her out of a bad situation with some riffraff, and she won’t be comfortable staying at her own home for a while, at least until she feels safe walking home alone again. Any story was plausible, but he stressed that his mother was more than likely to accept Botan no matter how simple her reason was. It did not take escaping an abusive relationship for his mother to help someone in need. Botan’s housing troubles would be nonexistent the minute she made a case. It was just that easy.

“Mother, I’m home!” Kurama called, entering the warm Minamino home and guiding Botan inside. It was a modest place that was kept very tidy. The carpet and walls were kept clean, with tables and furniture kept dust-free. The sound of a television had greeted them just before Shiori Minamino did, emerging from around the corner of the kitchen wiping away at a wet pan with a look of contentedness.

“Welcome back Shu—“Her son had returned, but with him was a girl she did not recognize. Shiori had, as many mothers might, began to form her own idea of who she was before either Shuichi or the sunny new guest could. “Oh!” Shiori smiled, setting the pan and rag down on the counter beside her before approaching her son and his friend. “Welcome to our home! Shuichi, is this a new friend of yours?”

“She’s not exactly new. Her name is Botan and she’s a good friend of mine. She has something to ask of you.” Kurama could practically see the gears in his mother’s head turning. Botan’s case might be unnecessary at this point. If mother was already coming to her own conclusions, then her place here was guaranteed. All that mattered now was what story she would choose to stick to.

Shiori looked at Botan with subtle excitement. “It’s not every day that Shuichi brings home a friend, especially one so cute.”

“Mother, please.”

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Shiori waved a hand apologetically. Shuichi’s embarrassment only made this moment more adorable to her.
I never understood how people can only play one gender. I know some people might have gender preferences, but I find it nonsensical that they believe themselves incapable of playing the opposite sex most of the time. That's one of the most disappointing things about a fellow writer sometimes. They put gender before person. Take away the penis and the vagina, and you're still writing a human being. Give them life. I hope you find some partners capable of making you happy and working closely with you ^^ but, then again, I love having you more ;3

Yeah they won't be fresh. It's probably safe to say that they haven't 'gotten any' in a long time given Botan's very job focused and Kurama has, like you said, been focused on other things and hasn't found the girl that can handle what he really is. I'm certain he'll manage to surprise her the first time they join both body and soul <3

Working on the post, should be up within the hour.

EDIT -- There we are. Kinda wanted to set the stage a little more as to how Shiori will look at Botan as she explains. Those gears in her head are TURNING. I think Botan and Shiori will become very close, and she will definitely approve of their eventual relationship. She ships them already xD
I wonder if chief mechanic Kylo was finishing what someone else started before those two showed up.
