xD Well, I was never really hype about them, but I do agree that Keiko needed to be more than just a childhood friend for me to care for her. Generic love interest is generic love interest. Zzzzzzz...

Don't break my heart dude :C Be gentle to my emotions! And aww shit modifying the signature bat. Botan could totally join the women's softball team if she had time! But alas, she must ferry souls, defeat demons, and love her legendary bandit with cuddles. I'm feeling the dying plant saving idea. If Botan can mold personal spirit energy together like the others, she could totally attempt to revitalize it with her own strength. The reason Kurama didn't is because he was maintaining it as a human, rather than cheating, but it's okay for Botan, good practice!
Jesus already? You don't fuck around Gen. Godly stamina. Bottle your confidence and then sell it to me. I pay in TenLin! xDDD And yes a super bond, bond so strong it puts Yusuke and Keiko's bond to SHAME. SHAME. SHAME!

She doesn't want to make Kurama look bad. Awww, Botan is the bae, and despite Kurama suggesting that he knows she's intelligent and school's all memorization, she'd still wants to be smarter for him <3 as for the demon, yes, Kurama could dispatch it with one strike but Botan could take the time to learn how to defend herself properly, with or without her signature bat. After a struggle, he does eventually finish it for her. And then they spend the next afternoon in the greenhouse to help her discover where her skills would lie in a fight? Kurama gives her a questionnaire of sorts XD I think they'd be more alike in combat than she thinks.
As always you're too kind. The interest in Botan was a spur of the moment inclusion. If he is to eventually fall for her, it has to be for her, not just those soft lips of hers. I think my dialogue at the later part of the post could have been better. By what's true in her heart, he means if the lover explanation was true to her, or just her own interpretation of a school girl's ideal man. That also goes for her idea of a first date. The answer seems obvious to us, but for Kurama it just shows that he has a lot of respect for Botan, both as a reaper and a friend, but he didn't know her enough to be sure of anything she told Shiori and the classmates. It's an eye opener for him. And I do hope that Botan finds it nice to be the center of someone's interest for once ;3

I do look forward to Shiori's shipping moments as we progress. The evening before dinner sounds good. Have them finish up some schoolwork together featuring tutor Kurama, and Botan can take the time to bring up (she forgot because Kurama had asked about her maybe?) that Koenma did mention some very minor demon activity in the area. They have time to investigate the location before dinner, and it could be this encounter that has Botan consider learning more about fighting, since she may have seen herself as a liability both at that moment and earlier at the school? Or she can sleep on it.
For a moment Kurama had believed them in the clear. Botan need only smile and openly confirm that he was her boyfriend, leaving no shadow of doubt for their unreasonable peers. As it turned out, Botan had been more agreeable in this ploy than he thought. He caught her smile, mischievous as it was adorable, just as her arms came around his body. She delivered a line that went against his previous. Genius. Couples did not always agree on the way things are handled. Even turning her persona into that of a very animated girlfriend was worthy of applause, and helped sell the idea that they were both just hiding themselves away. Botan was doing so well that he didn’t realize just how close she had gotten until she brought their lips together in a sudden, deep kiss.

Unprepared as he was, Kurama kept his composure in the heat of the moment. His idle hands rose up and planted themselves at her side, neither pushing her away nor bringing her close. The softness of her lips surprised him even more than the act itself. Botan’s ability to get in character was impressive and most welcome. The natural fragrance that scented her body was appealing, adding to the already pleasant closeness she provided. When she tilt her head and pressed in, he had instinctively turned his own in the opposite direction, slowly closing his eyes as well. For a while he wasn’t sure who would break the lock first, but when the pressure of Botan’s lips began to weaken from his own he had known to peel himself away just as she did. Opening them again, their eyes met in a situation that should have been a bit more awkward for pretenders. Strangely, Kurama felt no embarrassment, only excitement.

‘She’s…’ His thoughts trailed no further, far too wrapped up in her eyes. If it wasn’t for a girl speaking up he wasn’t sure if he would have looked away in time. Even with the kiss broken he could still feel her lips on his own. In the back of his mind, he wished they had a moment longer. Maybe this pretending business wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Turning to the remains of the crowd, Kurama had a story in mind that could be used to cover for them both. Surprisingly, Botan had taken the initiative with a cover story of her own. He watched her from the corner of his eye as she explained her entire story, offering the spectators enough for them to understand that from the very beginning they had formed a connection. Ascending together in a ferris wheel was a popular concept in romantic works, and when you added dinner together following that you had a recipe for an ideal date. As Botan concluded her story, it struck him as odd that she thought of the scenario so quickly. Reaper or not, she also had dreams. Those dreams could include an ideal date with a good person by her side. It may mean a lot to her if he managed to offer her that opportunity in the future.

The nature of their date had left little room for nonbelievers now. Some scowled at Botan and others hung their heads in disappointment, denied their chances at dates with two of the upper echelon of boyfriend and girlfriend material. Finally, they were alone again.

“Your lips are very soft,” Kurama smiled, closing his eyes as a finger brushed across his lips. The tingling sensation hadn't vanished yet. “I apologize for how sudden this story of ours became romantic, but it was the only thing I could think of to have the other students keep their distance, at least for a while.” He would believe that the girls would make a voodoo doll of some kind in Botan’s image, hoping for some misfortunate that would make Shuichi available to them. Obviously the boys would wish the same for him. Lust was a powerful emotion. They had shaken off the masses for now, but there may come a time where a couple of them wouldn’t understand the circumstances clearly. Botan was taken.

Kurama opened his eyes and looked to her spectacles. “Your explanation of the energy, before we were interrupted?”

Giving Botan the chance to finish her explanation, the two were then able to finish their lunch and become used to their new role as the latest hot couple at school. The rest of the day was peaceful, save for the several glances of sadness and frustration from men and women alike. This news wasn’t taken well by a small batch, but Kurama was used to ignoring those that resented him. Botan would need to learn, too, if she intended to go about her day with him, especially now that he would start holding her hand to and from school. As the day came to a close, Kurama had done just that, keeping his bag in his left hand and clutching Botan’s hand in his right. With the last of the looks given by their peers as they departed for the day, Kurama was once again ready to speak about matters that didn’t concern school.

“About your story,” He tread lightly, giving pause before glancing at her, hand still held closely in his even after passing the iron gate. “It occurred to me that I know very little about you. I know that you ferry souls. You're intelligent and capable, but what about your dreams? How much of what you told mother and our classmates is true in your heart?”

Did reapers dream? What did Botan do before this job, and did she intend to do this forever? The more Kurama thought about this now, it was almost insulting to Botan that no one, bar Koenma, might have an answer to these questions. She had been committed to helping them as Team Urameshi in the Dark Tournament, dedicating her time and energy to supporting them and Spirit World as capably as she could. When was the last time anyone had asked about her ambition as a person? Kurama was embarrassed, and rightly so. Botan deserved an ear. She was more than just Koenma's assistant.

She was a friend.
Very sorry for the delay. It didn't come out as well as I wanted, but what I wanted wasn't realistic. You can only talk about a kiss so much before it's redundant and worthy of nothing more than a roll of the eyes. That and I always hate my work, so nothing new there.

I wanted Kurama to think about Botan more than the investigation this time. It's high time he got to know her better. She already has a file on his time as Yoko, after all. The advantage is all hers right now. I also want them to run into Shiori just as she returned home from the store, so she can see that they're holding hands. Let's give Shiori that xD
No, I can work it out on my own. Thanks though :D
Sorry it's not up yet. Rough night =/
Sounds perfect.

Good plan. I'll get started in a bit. Maybe Botan could mention the minor demon activity, have Koenma have told her to tell him in passing to keep his eyes open?
Right. We did say that it might be a while until Goshikuro's lackey gives some sign of existence.

After school it is, then, since I take it the rest of the day is majorly uneventful. Would you want me to jump to a certain point after school, like the final bell ringing, or making it back home to finish some of their work while Kurama tries to tutor Botan on the hard stuff?
I think Kurama will do what he has to do to keep the investigation as stress-free as possible. Botan's move, while bold, did what he was too hesitant to do. He was unaware of Botan's willingness to commit to this plan in the first place. Heck, just yesterday he actually found out what sort of man she was interested in. He didn't know enough to take a kiss from her, but Botan on the other hand was all too willing to help him out (and herself ;3). Kurama is definitely a hand-holder, it's just anything above that, say kissing or... much more intimate forms of "I want you right now." that someone like Yusuke would be way more likely to perform. I'm thinking Genkai can teach him a thing or two ;3

LOL. I imagine that someone's confession note to Botan is just how everyone's starting to commit suicide and he doesn't wanna die without knowing the touch of a beautiful woman. That puts Botan in one hell of a corner xD

Your post was cool as fuck dude. Nice touch on the music! I can get started shortly, but I need to know the stopping point. Are we finishing the rest of the day and stopping in gym for anything, like Kurama hearing the comments his fellows make about Botan in those shorts and such? I don't know much about Japan's way of gym instruction but in anime boys and girls are mostly separated sooooo I might just zoom past it and not think about it much. Point is, Botan's hot, guys are saying some crazy shit and they're either not respecting that Kurama is her boyfriend or word hasn't gotten to them yet.

If not stopping there, we can get to the greenhouse. Is any information Botan provided going to be relevant after school?
