I'm not, but at least my loved ones can live out the rest of their lives in relative peace, hopefully dying a normal and hopefully peaceful death at the end of their old age when they get there.

My past self is dead, my home is gone, my loved ones no longer in my life, and until I make a new family out here I am alone.

I don't mind.
But frankly, at the risk of sounding harsh, that's like you pushing your own ideals and beliefs onto someone just because you're uncomfortable with the situation, regardless of how pure your intentions may be. If you plan to do so then I hope you're willing to bear the consequences yourself, as I'm willing to deal with the consequences of my own actions.
After all, it's not like this isn't painful for me as well.
