Miraculous Heroes

She was walking hastily toward school. "I'm late, I'm late!!" Auri shouted clutching the strap to her school bag with one hand while moving her other arm back and forth as she hurried. "You too, Auri?" Marinette rushed to Auri's side. "Alya's going to kill me if I can't make it to class in time, we have a huuuge project to present today." Marinette said with some guilt in her voice. Auri stared at Marinette while continuing to hurry. Marinette seemed to like her as a friend but Auri never talked to her that much, they had worked on an assignment together a few times in class but that didn't really mean much to Auri. She had just moved to this part of Paris about half a year ago and it seemed Marinette had taken a liking to her right off the bat, probably because she wasn't a total snob like Chloe and Sabrina.

Auri said nothing and took off in a sprint toward the school. "Sorry Marinette, I got to go!" She shouted over her shoulder. When she got into class she hid in her seat in the back and slammed her head down on the desk making quite a bit of noise. "Auri Du Bois, if you're going to come into class late please at least do it quietly! And did you see Miss Dupain-Cheng on your way in?"

"Here she is, Ms. Bustier, so much for a class rep!" Chloe burst out.

Marinette came in and shut the door lightly behind her. Adrien was about to speak when Marinette spoke up. "I'm sorry Ms. Bustier! I'll try not to do it again!" She hurried to her seat and sat down next to her best friend Alya. The teacher sighed and turned back to the board to continue teaching. Auri looked at the back of Chloe's head in disdain, she really did not like Chloe, it was no wonder so many of the villains created by Hawk Moth went after her.

"Where you been, girl?" Alya whispered to Marinette. "Sorry Alya... I overslept again." Marinette admitted. "What do you do all night, besides homework? It couldn't have taken you that long."

"Oh! well uh... you know... I was having a hard time sleeping, that's all."

Outside the classroom in the courtyard, there was a scream of fear. Auri's eyes shot toward the door. "Auri, someone is in trouble." Paon, her Kwami, whispered from inside the hood of her sweatshirt. "Yes, I heard it." She replied. "I have to get out of here." The teenager was about to stand up when a blue ball of energy with dark eyes floated though the door and into the classroom. Chloe shrieked and hid under the desk, Sabrina followed her example. The student scrambled around the classroom and outside by the teacher's command.

"Come on, Paon let's go, something strange is going on around here." Auri ran out of the classroom with the others and headed into a nearby janitor's closet. "Paon let's ruffle some feathers!"

Inside the classroom, Marinette was transforming as well. "Tikki, spots on!"

Outside above the school there was a ghostly apparition who had sent her smaller ghosts to steal the spirits of the youth. "If my father doesn't get to live, than neither do you!!" It was Mistress Spectre a villain created by Hawk Moth.

Phoenix nodded at the man, ignoring what the officers had said to him even though they had been a bit harsh on him for just breaking a shield. But he was glad he could help. "Of course, no problem." The mage said cheerfully. Before he could say anything or ask any questions there was a panicked shriek from nearby and a the emergency bell rang out in the distance. Phoenix, who as a mage could sense other mages, looked around quickly. There was someone powerful nearby, he could feel it. "Artemis, where is that coming from?" Artemis poked his nose out of Phoenix's shirt, when he smelled the rancid smell in the air he returned to his place. "Artemis c'mon this is important."

The white ferret poked his whole head out and then slowly crawled out onto Phoenix's shoulder. "Which way is that mage?" Artemis looked left and looked right before crawling onto the opposite shoulder and pointing to the West with his nose. "Alright! Say old fellow, why don't you get indoors, something strange is going on, or maybe... you could come with me! You were the one who broke that shield in half, right? Well whatever you did, maybe you could do it again? Come on!" He did not wait for the old man to reply, instead, he took off in the direction Artemis had pointed.

The young man ran toward the West, out of town and toward the forest. When he arrived their was no one around. But he noticed left him with chills down his spine. The first thing he noticed was a pile of glowing green ashes. The remnants of a life form. When Phoenix investigated more he saw a young girl lying on her back some distance away. "Oh gods! Oh gods! Oh gods!!" Phoenix darted toward the body and knelt on one knee beside her. "Excuse me miss are you okay?"

Quickly, the mage pulled a card from one of his pouches and held it over the girl's stomach in two fingers. "Auxilio" He whispered. The card vanished in a blue spark and the girl's wounds suddenly faded away. "Your wounds are healed, miss, but you will still be in pain for quite some time."

The Demon Inside: Unleashed

Jay watched curiously as Liam carved things into their perfectly good cutting board. He knelt down before the teen with one knee bent. "What're you doing?" He questioned examining the dots and the single line that the boy and drawn. "Is this what I think it is? You want to play a game?" Removing his knife from his boot the orange-haired teenager carefully took the wooden board from Liam and looked at the dots inquisitively. "Yea, yea it is! Awesome." He was most certain that he had played the game before as a child in grade school and would give it a try since Liam wanted him too. With his knife he carved another line adjacent to the one Liam had drawn, he hoped he was doing it right. "That's alright, yea?" He looked to Liam for a nod or a head shake.

When Liam gave him a nod, Jay smirked. "Great!" The boys took turns drawing lines and on the board and filling squares with either a J or an L. Once the game was over, Liam had won. "Heh, rematch?" Jay flipped the board over and started making the dots again. They played once more for quite a while, until their were no more spaces to make more lines. "You're great. I'm glad you're up and about and Sarina must be overjoyed. But you know, she just gets tired sometimes..." He looked toward the bed where Sarina was sleeping. "Yea... I have something. We could do. I mean, if you want." Jay did not wait for Liam to respond, he got up and walked to the bed and pulled something out from under it. It was a pile of three thin and long dusty old boxes.

"These are all old board games from a book store I explored a long while ago. We have: battleship, mancala, connect 4, and checkers. Sorry I don't have chess, Sarina told me you like chess but they didn't have it at the time." Jay set down the games in front of Liam and let the boy choose which one he wanted to play. The first choice was checkers and Jay set up the checker board with all the pieces on it. They played for a long time back and forth keeping score as each won several times over.

"Nnn" There was a soft groan from the bed. "Is it night time, yet?" Sarina muttered. Only a few hours had passed, it was noon now. "Jay?" She had forgotten that Liam was awake and out of bed. The girl felt around the bed for friend. "Liam? Liam!!" Sarina sat up and looked around frantically. Her eyes widened when she saw the two boys on the ground playing checkers. "What are you guys doing?"

"Liam's right here. We're playing checkers so as not to wake you." Jay spoke to her in Italian as they did very often, not that any one their could not understand. "Are you feeling alright?" The boy asked. "I think I sat up too fast..." Sarina put her hands on her head. "Nnghh. Liam are you okay?"
