Are we *technically* alive though? I mean really, shouldn't you say unlives?

Bio

Former Enlisted Army, and very avid gamer. I have fallen hook line and sinker for Dungeons and Dragons, which has actually taken over as my preferred method to roleplay--as both a DM and a player.

However, my roleplay adventures started with writing, and I always will be interested in creative writing. I left for a brief 5 year stint (Hey, that's brief to an elf or dragon, yeah?) but am back and ready to dive into something (though what, I am unsure).

Happily married to my wonderful wife @PrimalArcana, whom I met at this forum (thanks @Mahz) and I can't be happier :D Love to RP pretty much anything. However, my time is much more limited than it used to be. My PMs are open if you want to roleplay, I'm known to do both 1 on 1 RPs and open forum RPs.

I may not be active anymore, but this still applies: All Green, all Army, HOOAH!

You know how they say that most stories start with once upon a time? Well, this one does too. Kinda.

Once upon a fucking time, our government thought they could easily cure the problem that years and years of messing with Earth and treating her like trash had done. Leave it to our leaders to try to put a band-aid on things that need real attention.

Water filters? Nope- that will hurt our poor fish!

Windmills? Nope- that will hurt our defenseless birds!

Nuclear implosions? Sure! That can't possibly go wrong.

Nuclear test after nuclear test to clean up the smog invading us had proven to be actually working (holy shit!) and people were quite excited for the progress! It was almost like the human race weren't as dumb as we thought. It wasn't until N10 (the 10th round of "cleansing") that things started to become clear that this was not as great as things appeared. These creatures- no, monsters began appearing by the nuclear sites. They came from the ground, popping out like daisies at every vibration on the ground!

Scientist after scientist began disappearing.

Then the people that went looking for those scientists began vanishing.

Once all those people were gone, and people stopped looking for them any more- the monsters began to get hungry for flesh again. They traveled into the cities, they multiplied, they took our parents, they took our children, they took our civilizations.

It had been 30 years since N10 and all this madness began. Not many people remember a time before what our world was. Not many people live that long anymore, at least none that we've seen lately. We can only hope there is someone out there with the answers we need. There had only been rumors of a save haven in Maine where the people had ridden the place of those creatures..

All we can do now is keep alive and hope we get our happily ever after.

The "langue" is the monster that has been terrorizing us for 30 some years now. We're not sure who came up with it but a guy once told us it meant tongue in french. He might have been just a pervert, but it kind of make sense. The thing has a tongue that is long and uses it just like a snake to taste the things in the air

It's body resembles something between a human, lizard, and bird. Nothing humans had seen before. It's teeth are sharp and tears through flesh and any other material that it can sink into it. Recommended that you don't try to go to battle with it from close combat, you'll lose.

They seem to only feast during the night time but can be seen traveling during the day. They are never not active. If you feel the ground under you rumbling you better head the other fucking way, or get to high stable ground. We witnessed a guy trapped in a hole one of these monsters dug and he had to wait there until nightfall until the creature could come and eat him. It was sickening. They are smart and crafty, do not be fooled.

We don't know much about killing these things, but we managed to shoot the eye out of one of them. It seemed to slow him down a bit, but also made him angrier. No gun can penetrate his armor skin, his weak spots are his eyes and his mouth when it's open- but by then it's probably too late for you.

Maybe someone will find a way to delete the world of them.

We're right now looking for a small group--any takers? :) :D
Lovely work, I'll definitely check out your FB page :)
"Bad Guys" can be much more fun to play, but you have to let go of morals, which is quite hard to do sometimes. Even when what you're doing is not real, and has no bearing on anything what so ever. It's quite interesting really.

Ever played a game, where you get certain moral choices? You know, A) Give the kid back his bike B)Trade the bike back for the kid's hat C) Punch the kid, run off with his bike.

You have to keep hitting that C option over and over. Sometimes doing that just feels wrong though, even though you know it's a game.

Get what I'm sayin'?

I don't think you necessarily have to let go of morals, your bad guy can just have their own moral code. A villain needn't be pure evil to be a villain, they just have to go about achieving a goal in the ethically wrong manner. I think the best villains are those who have some ambiguity to them. They don't always do what we might call the "wrong" thing, and their ultimate goals can even be something that a reasonable person might agree is necessary--they are relatable. Those are also the scariest villains, because then you start to see that *anyone* has potential to be a villain.

Let me give you an example from a story idea I've had for some time, but never actually written. This character, Daycan Myru. Without getting into to much detail, his people were betrayed by the king of the fictional land, Laranya, ages ago in the setting. He's now the last of his kind. His ultimate goal is to restore his people and retake the land that was promised to his people. The king at the time, however, renigged on his promise, and slaughtered Daycan's people. Daycan ends up awakening a powerful demonic-like entity to throw the land into chaos--basically causing a giant war, so in the confusion he can retake the lands that belong to him. He also intends to destroy the evil entity himself.

One can hardly blame Daycan for wanting to retake what was promised to him, to do right by his people. But he's going about it in a very nasty way. Yet he also intends to destroy this evil being that was in the world in the first place. Granted, he awoke it, but he's also going to end it, or try to anyway.

I think villains that aren't just pure black and white are the most fun to play. They seem more human, they have their own moral code of sorts, and you can still be the bad guy! Look at Anakin Skywalker's story, that's another prime example :)
Hey Cara, I'm in Kentucky now! Fort Cambell! I have to say, it's pretty awesome down here, a lot more freedom than I had before! I CAN ACTUALLY SPEND TIME AT THE GUILD NOW :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Hey Mahz, I haven't been to the site in awhile, due to my....military adventure, LOL. But I come back to a site reminiscent of the old guild! Way to go, keep up the good work!
Welcome, John Wolf, to the Wolf's Lair!!!! >: D Always fun to see another wolf hanging around xD
> Our military base has the *worst* internet service. Its super pathetic. > We're over charged for what we're getting, it cuts out constantly, more so if theres wind or rain [semi-tropic island. seriously. it rains a lot] and its the one service for the entire base. And its huge. Almost every day theres a whole neighborhood that doesn't have internet, and when everyone gets off work and gets home, it slows down. >< > > You figure all the military personnel here would rise up and create their own internet or something XD I know how you feel. Internet at Fort Sam Houston is pretty crappy too, though not as bad as yours! Although at peak hours we slow down to less than 100kbs!!!
> Is This still going on? I was wondering the exact same thing :/
Well its been so long, you never know Cara. Stranger things go on in the land of RP. BUt of course, your chill thread has always been one of the most successful of its type, if not THE most successful, so I shoulda known :D HELLO paradigm! How's things :D
I am most certainly interested! This is a fantastic RP to make my return to the guild with!! :D
