Are we *technically* alive though? I mean really, shouldn't you say unlives?

Bio

Former Enlisted Army, and very avid gamer. I have fallen hook line and sinker for Dungeons and Dragons, which has actually taken over as my preferred method to roleplay--as both a DM and a player.

However, my roleplay adventures started with writing, and I always will be interested in creative writing. I left for a brief 5 year stint (Hey, that's brief to an elf or dragon, yeah?) but am back and ready to dive into something (though what, I am unsure).

Happily married to my wonderful wife @PrimalArcana, whom I met at this forum (thanks @Mahz) and I can't be happier :D Love to RP pretty much anything. However, my time is much more limited than it used to be. My PMs are open if you want to roleplay, I'm known to do both 1 on 1 RPs and open forum RPs.

I may not be active anymore, but this still applies: All Green, all Army, HOOAH!

Um. Bump? ._.

"I worry about the rest of my siblings. I worry that without me there they'll grow hungry and take food from the Capitol. You and I both know what that'll mean for them." Sequoia closed his eyes at those words. He didn't have a family...but he remembered what it was like. What it felt like to worry for them, to feel that pain in the bottom of your heart, the constant nagging in the back of your mind. He knew all too well what that worry felt like, how it never went away. And now, she had even more cause to be concerned. Here she was, about to find herself in the Hunger Games. Slowly opening his bright green eyes, Sequoia hung his head, shaking it slowly. He didn't know what he could say to his old friend, couldn't find words that didn't sound trite or stupid...lies that people tell themselves when there are no words of truth to ease pain. So he stood there, letting the moments of silence pass between them until she turned, addressing their mentor. "He's right. We need your help. Sponsors. How do we go about with that? Surely there's advice you can give us there?"

Interested in hearing this answer himself, Sequoia turned his gaze to Birch, awaiting his response. He wanted to hear it, he wanted to know just how they could manage that. Sure, he'd grown up watching the Hunger Games all his life. It was required, of course. But...watching it and actually living it were two very different things. He hadn't the slightest idea what to do, how he might help either himself or Willow to return home. So he fixated his gaze upon the man who'd won it all--the same man who mentored every other district 7 tribute that came before them. Now it was their turn. One of us will come home! Sequoia thought, gritting his teeth in determination, eyes narrowing into an arctic glare. "Just attract the Capitol's attention. Appearance is especially important in the early stages, something that can be discussed further with your stylists once we arrive in the Capitol."

Sequoia frowned at their mentor's words, wondering just how appearance would do a damn thing for them. They were going to be trees, after all. Nothing special, nothing outstanding, unless you counted ridiculous and stupid outstanding. That was never the way one wanted to stand out in a crowd, and Sequoia somehow doubted that the Hunger Games were an exception to that. He was about to speak up, but Willow beat him to it. "Appearance? Well I don't have much going for me there. Those stylists better know what they're doing. Somehow I don't think being dressed as a tree will do me much good either." Sequoia broke eye contact with Birch to gaze at willow, a slight grin crossing his face. He nodded slowly, shaking his head quickly. "I'm telling you right now, I'd rather be naked then be dressed as a friggin tree!" he remarked, snorting. "Oh no. I heard they hired a better team this year. Apparently the Capitol got tired of seeing the tree look on all the District 7 tributes."

Sequoia whirled around in shock, staring with wide eyes at Aelius in disbelief. "Seriously?!" he asked, startled. "You mean...we won't be stuck looking like the laughing stock of the districts then??" Sequoia turned back towards Willow, a wide smile crossing his face and his eyes brightening up a bit. "Did you hear that Willow, we won't have to be trees this year!!!" He clapped his old friend on the back, momentarily excited--until he remembered why they were talking about appearances in the first place. The smile fading from his face as fast as vapor might dissipate in a swift breeze, he lowered his gaze to the floor. He let out a low sigh, crossing his arms over his chest, silent once again.
Here's the info from our old 1x1!!! Glad to be resurrecting it :)

Jannah's Character

Name: Willow Freeborn
Age: 16
District: 7
Appearance:

Willow stands at approximately 5' 4", about the average height. In almost every other way she has an average body of a sixteen year old except for her toned arms. This likely stems from her work with an axe, as typical in her district. She is also not exceptionally beautiful and will often emphasize this by dressing simply, even by her district's standards.

Personality: Willow tends to be the quiet type, much preferring to spend time alone. As a result she maintains few close friendships. However, she has a deep connection with her family, doing what she can to keep them going. This is a trait that extends into the point of extreme stubbornness, something that can often create trouble for her. Despite maintaining a serious demeanour, Willow also has a soft side which she will sometimes express through humour and other forms of light-hearted interaction.

Bio: Willow was born into a family of lumberjacks, one of the key jobs of her district. Despite her family insisting from a young age that she learns the family trade, her interests lied elsewhere: woodcarving. This is something she'd often go off and practice after school despite her parents' direction. At first they disapproved, but then many others in the district saw her artistic merit as she began selling her creations.

Willow's artistic craft continued into her teenaged years, eventually catching the attention of one of her district's head peacekeepers. Without a second thought, he purchased one of Willow's pieces for a rather large sum. This finally convinced her parents to allow their daughter to pursue her own path. However, things never came to be. One day an illness took Willow's oldest sibling, leaving her with no choice but to help her family in the woods.

LoneSilverWolf's Character

Name: Sequoia Linson
Age: 15
District: 7
Appearance:

Somewhat lengthy hair, the front bangs dyed red; green eyes. Rather short for a guy, standing at 5'7." Like most in his district, he is rather bulky from cutting down wood, working the sawmills, splitting wood, etc. Usually wearing a simple white or grey T-shirt (or hoodie depending on the weather) and Jeans, holes ripped in the knees.

Personality: NOT much of a people person, Sequoia tends to be sarcastic in nature, often digging deep with his words when people irritate him or he feels they are getting too close. A loner by circumstance, as he has no family. Living at the district orphanage until he's considered old enough to be on his own, he keeps to himself, refusing to get close and make friends with people--but he will interact when necessary. In fact, he'll often make off color or sardonic remarks, making people either laugh or cringe--but he doesn't make friends.

Bio: Born to a family of woodcutters, that's what he does. If he's not chopping down a tree, he's splitting it, working the sawmills, limbing trees, or carrying logs. He doesn't much like the work, but does it anyway, to lose himself and get through another day. He remembers the happier days of his childhood when his family was alive--and when he actually had a friend, Willow Freeborn. The two grew up together, their families were very close--but some years ago, in their preteen years, the two were destined to lose contact. Having lost the only friend he ever had, and then losing his parents too, Sequoia became inwardly withdrawn, hiding himself behind a wall of sarcasm and pushing people away who try to get too close.

I kid you not, that is what came up ._.
