I write differently in Naruto RPs than I do otherwise... for whatever reason. I guess it is because I feel much more comfortable with the Narutoverse...

Edit: Here is my 'head-canon' for Genjutsu and you can tell me what you think. Genjutsu as used by regular shinobi is used by advanced control of one's chakra. This advanced control allows the user to 'feel' their weaves of chakra and uses it to mesh into another shinobi's chakra which then creates the illusion. A regular shinobi can realize this by either observation of a change in the world or for those intimately familar with their own chakra...sense the foreign chakra messing with their senses. They can then combat this in the way stated in canon.

For dojutsu like the Byakugan and Sharingan however, they can see rather than feel the chakra weaves. This allows them to notice the strands trying to integrate into their own chakra and they can then combat the genjutsu by either what was stated; or in the case of a genjutsu user, they can wield their own strands to cut/combat their opponents. So kinda in my mind during the Itachi-Sasuke fight, they were standing still but a brilliant tapestry of chakra was being weaved throughout that room.

Edit2: I agree with ya Mad. Just there has always been controversy on some conflicting things. For example in the wave arc the only definition given is that the sharingan can copy jutsu. So people took that to mean if you see it, you can copy it. Doesn't help that Kakashi (who has plot-armor/genius) did it a few moments later against Zabuza.

The Sharingan;
It gives color to chakra so the user can see it. It gives clarity of perception, allowing the user to notice/see things that they would normally not (i.e. noticing the movements of a persons mouth, thus readin their lips); this does that they can notice the handseals made for a certain technique and their ability to see chakra allows them to see how the chakra is molded when that same technique is performed.
So, technically, the Sharingan is able to "Copy" abilities, but not because it simply copies them; it is because the user notices and sees things that you cannot see with the bare (non-Sharingan) eye. It takes skill (as you can only do a technique you are actually able to do), memory and (unless you are a super-genius like Sasuke) training to actually perform the techniques that have been "copied".

Nara Shadow Jutsu;
It's a hiden (Secret Technique (Clan Technique)), not a KG. Hiden can, like KGs, not be copied by Sharingan and shit because it requires the knowledge of how to do it. It is not just simply molding chakra and making handseals.

Genjutsu;
They manipulate the flow of chakra in the victim's brain.

Once (if) Haruka finds out about Ryuu's past, she will hug the shit out of him. Like, with giant, teary eyes and squishing him like a teddy bear and swinging him back and forth (with his feet dragging on the round since she's so damn small) going "You poor, poor thing!" over and over again xD

@Mad Hatter I agree entirely about NRP's being confusing. I had looked at ones in the past and it just really threw me for a loop. That said, the World in Revolution format is surprisingly well ordered and controlled. Rather than tons of IC posts and controlling characters, the only posts you make are like 'press releases' to the other Nations. Then you send in your orders to the GM and he updates once a week which makes a year pass. So it's in someways less RP and more Strategy. SWTOR is the only MMO I've made it to endgame. And that was only because of RP. I hate grinding. The RP in an MMO format is a lot faster paced and fluid, but less writing skill and freedom. Like...most things are said in the chat window with your avatar actually doing the movements. Ah! Marvel! Forgot about one I joined recently. It's a different dimension/reinvent the characters thing. So I made Magneto born in the 80's and an agent of SHIELD.Err..on topic! I agree that there is a ton of symbolism there. It could definitely make for an interesting relationship between the two. It will be interesting to see the fluidity of how things play out.Not sure how much you want to deal with canon characters, but if this RP goes for another 11 years ICly...I have this horrifying image of Itachi hunting Ryuu down. Ryuu's going to be hopefully a great deal stronger in 11 years, but I don't see him having the Mangekyou by then if ever.

I've never actually played SWTOR, but I've heard lots of great things about it. I'm not much of a Star Wars fan (I've watched all of the movies and all, but I'm not like OMG about them), so I never really thought to play the game.

Wow, really? I'm mostly all about the X-Men RPs (I am a huge fan of the old comics). I'm going to ask you the dreaded question, then ... Who is your favorite Marvel character?

If they show up, they show up. It can't really be avoided that we run into a few Cannon characters.
Who knows? Maybe they'll all wind up as Jounin with each their own genin teams some day. It all depends on how long people can be bothered to keep posting (and who dies and stuff).
