We'll almost definitely need a United States, a Germany, a Russia and a France.

My choices for 1910.

1. Great Britain.

3. Canada.
4. Sweden-Norway.

I still think we are making this way more complicated than it should be. We should pick the time period before we give our nation picks, not the other way around. With an exception of a few nations, most game relevant nations are still present in all the timelines.


I'd be cool with us just picking a time, too. Most of the big players are around in all of the possible times.

To make it utterly clear, my preferences are, in descending order,

1. Great Britain.
2. Canada.
3. Russia.
4. Sweden-Norway (or just Sweden if 1812 or 1920).

Actually, I think I have the best idea. Everybody has until 8:00 tomorrow to tell me what nation they are hoping for. I will find the time when hopefully all of them exist, and we choose that.


South Sudan.

I'd like to play as Great Britain but I'm sure that'd be hotly contested. I'd also like to play as Canada, though that would only be possible from 1867 onward and that'd be quite a constriction.

I would love 1812, just for the possibility of playing as Great Britain and trouncing the States. 1910 would be my second choice, and then 1836.

I'm going to be playing regardless of the year (unless we go back waaay too far). I mostly just didn't like the idea of deciding the starting date on a dice roll, the year rolled was largely incidental. If a later period would be easier for you to manage as a GM, go with that.

God knows the biggest problem with WiR on this board is finding someone who can tolerate running it.

I really don't think rolling a dice for a starting date is wise. WiR usually begins preceding an especially pivotal historical event (hence 'World in Revolution'), and the interbellum isn't really optimal for that unless we want to push it ahead a decade and make this WiR: Hitler Edition.

For a start date of 1927, our big event would be... the Great Depression?
