Meruin was tempted to snort. As if highly magical and explosive books would be burned that easily. You'd need a special kind of magic to burn the books Master had given her.

As Tyler at one of the Meruins, it promptly fazed out in a dim purple flash, and a dark paralysis curse coursed through Tylers scythe, making it's way towards him. In the meantime, Meruin kept chanting, nearly finishing her spell.

The lightning obliterated the earth shield rather than electrocute it. Meruin saw Tyler send the flaming miniature meteorites and idly wondered how funny it was that their positions were reversed from yesterday. More papers flew towards the general area of where the flaming bullets were and exploded, dispersing the projectiles.

Meruin opened another book while still chanting and slammed her hand on it. A purple light shined around her and suddenly there were five Meruins and a hundred+ books floating in the air.

Meruin swung her hands in an arc while chanting. A gray book opened up behind her and released several pages, each one sticking to a chunk of rock. stopping their momentum and eating their magic, sending them crashing back to the ground.

Meruin, still chanting, then pointed a glowing finger at Tyler. A bolt lightning snaked towards Tyler. Meruin intended to explode Tyler out of that armor.

Meruin clicked her tongue in annoyance. The lightning blots just crashed into the water hurled towards her and negated them. Upon seeing Tyler charging at her, her eyes widened and shot up into the sky with a burst of magic.

Meruin could sense tha magic under his feet. That granted him superior mobility, but she'd thought that she found Tylers weakness already. If water was his sword, then her spear would be . . .

"lónchi astrapí," she said. A fairly basic spell that literally translated to 'lightning spear'. Thin arcs of electricity snaked towards Tyler, heading towrds the closest conducter they could find; his water.

Meruin nodded and fiddled around with her gauntlet before finally managing to activate it. She whispered a spell and about a dozen different colored books floated behind her. From her breast pocket, Meruin pulled a golden bookmark that was covered in golden flame.

Calm down, she told herself, taking steady breathes, You can do this. It's just a duel. Master Reina and Lady Chase did this all the time. IT will be fine.

Meruin nodded as they went off and returned to her room. She looked at her Grimoire longingly. "Perhaps this is what I need to do in order for it to progress," she mumbled to herself. Fighting was not her thing, but her old master always stressed that (her) magic must be able to accomplish anything. She sighed and looked at all the books lined up on her shelf. She picked out a few and began taking out vials with glowing liquids inside them.

She wondered what else she would need. She hesitantly looked at her staff, but decided against it. She would bring that out once she decided she was actually serious about becoming a fighter. After preparing all of her items, she headed to the gym, where Sol and Tyler were waiting.

She'd chosen the gym because it was an area that she'd already inscribed with one of her Greater Rituals. If things went bad, this would be the first time she could use it.

Can you imagine if Tyler started doing the same thing for Meruin? The poor girl doesn't even like fighting xD

Meruin sighed. "Well, if that is how it is. I do wonder about how I got a higher rank than Tyler though."

She looked at the challenger in question. "Would you mind waiting in the gym for about an hour? I'll need to prepare." She barely had a few minutes to prepare during her last fight with Sol, Mutt and Tyler, so this time, she wanted to bring more than just her magic books, which were versatile, but not very powerful.

Meruin's hand shot up and blocked Tyler from seeing anymore. Just as with Liz, just one peak at her Grimiore would disintegrate by accident. "Careful at what you're looking at, Tyler. Anyway, I take it I can't deny this challenge?" she said, looking at Sol.
