The beginning of the 29th century is fraught with terror. Your people have, in recent times, climbed to the stars. What lies ahead, no one can guess. For hundreds of thousands of years your people have long doubted the existence of other civilizations. They are in for a great awakening.
Hey!
This is A Hostile Galaxy, a science fiction nation RP based on a few distinct game characteristics. I am known for my stat based RPs and this is no different. Let's talk about A Hostile Galaxy.
-- First Contact: Most science fiction RP's deal with bloated empires on the verge of tearing at the seams. One of this RP's great characteristics is that of first contact. All civilizations, whether they have only their home planet or several inhabited worlds, have until the first few turns of this game, will have never met another intelligent life form. -- Diplomacy: Once first contact occurs, there will be instances of diplomacy required. These bouts of diplomacy will deal with minor civilizations controlled by myself, the moderator. -- Economics: While keeping it simple, a base economy has been developed so that one might be able to shape themselves into an economic power. -- War: While inevitable, war will be abstracted in sending orders and seeing them unfold in front of you. Generals, be weary.
Civilization Creation There are 15 or so Characteristics, each with an underlying ability. When you create your civilization, you may select any two. Some require a certain physiology to be relevant, others are political in nature. Once you've selected your characteristics, fill out the application below and we'll get the game underway.
---------------------------------------------- CHARACTERISTICS (Choose 2) -- Tough: A hostile life has turned our people into exceptional physical specimens. [Decreased Military Casualties] -- Disciplined: Defeat and surrender are considered beneath us. [Military Leaders -50% Cost] -- Curious: We have long kept our eyes to the stars, wondering what my lay in the blackness. [Starts with 3 Free Technologies] -- Industrious: Long have our people toiled, understanding that work is freedom. [+1 Labor Per Population] -- Spacefaring: We have already settled our solar system, seeking the secrets of the galaxy. [Starts with 3 Free Colonies] -- Adaptive: We are well adapted to survival in all corners of the galaxy. [May colonize ANY planet type]. -- Savvy: Our people are some of the slickest dealers and traders. [Tourism / Trade generates +2 Income/Turn] -- Deceptive: There are few things more important than secrets. [Spies have +10% Success Rates] -- Synthetic: Having transcended biology, we are superior. [Pop is created by spending 10 Labor, not Food] -- Wise: Our scientists are among the best, there is no doubt. [Laboratories generate +2 Science] -- Populous: Our people will flourish, no matter the cost. [Population Growth costs -50%] -- Charismatic: Ever have we been popular and respected. [Diplomacy costs are -20%] -- Trustworthy: Our leaders are revered for their truth telling. [Civilization generates +1 Influence/Turn]. -- Worldeaters: We take what we want, and that is all. [Does not build buildings. Planets generate +20 Labor for 10 turns. Then 0 after that.] -- Evolved: We have surpassed the need for technology. [Does not build buildings. Cannot trade. Requires only Labor for all units.]
INFLUENCE.. RESEARCH?! What does this all mean?! Don't worry. There are 3 Resources.
Income: This is MONEY. Generated by trade and tourism. This buys things. Labor: This is WORK. Generated by population. This builds things. Influence: This is political clout, generated by your leaders.
And you'll have the following:
Head of State: The leader of your civilization. Planetary Governor (1 Per Planet): The leader of a particular planet. General: Leader of an army. Admiral: Leader of a space fleet. Minister of Economics: The leader of your economy.

June 16th Preliminary bombardments from the Grand Survaek Empire and the Republic of Deltora in the Eerkhbad Gap get underway.
June 17th Reinforcements from the Survaekom 1st Army Group and 2nd Army Group begin filtering in from the flanks of trench lines to fall in on the beleaguered 6th Infantry Division. The fighting intensifies, with mid range bombardments and light machine gun fire to halt probing attacks.
June 18th Following the declaration of war between Empire of Anvegad and the Sociatatem the Anvo-Deltoran border remains silent, with both great nations remaining starkly on the offense--much to the chagrin of the Anvegadian people, who were promised conquest with their joining of the Imperial Restoration.
June 19th Operation Morning Star begins at dawn, with the Anvegdian 1st Field Army under General Korso Markham crossing the border into Murenheidt. They advanced 45 kilometers before reaching resistance at Hadden, though it was small and putrid. So puny were the 40,000 regulars at Hadden that the secondary operations were never called into action, but rather the start of the Battle of Hadden, a trench action that run half the width of Murenheidt.
June 20th The Battle of the Eerkhbad Gap begins as 40,000+ Deltorans from the 8th and 9th Infantry Division push into the gap, hoping to expose it's weaknesses before the Survaekoms can reinforce. The Third Army Group, finally untangled from the logistical mess at Arkhaer moves northwest and hits the exposed attack head on. The Battle of the Eerkhad Gaps begins in proper.
June 23rd Battle of the Eerkhad Gaps begins in proper. A meat grinder of the open desert, only hastily drawn trenches exist, with men and machine moving to and fro, fighting over long stretches of sand dunes. The Deltorans were encircled on three sides, with nearly a hundred thousand barreling down on them from the southeast.
June 24th Kalpian Army units begin a tactical withdraw to Vierkas, preparing for evacuation while the Sumayan 1st Army advances, taking huge swathes of territory.
June 25th A breakthrough at the Battle of Hadden sees the Murenheidtans outflanked, and 28,000 Murenheidtans surrender. They are taken into custody and the Anvegadian 1st Field Army continues to move north toward the capital.
Empire of Anvegad: 11,853 (11,953 Rifles, 32 HVL-02 Machine Guns, 31 Ignanov-Ferguson Howitzers) Murenehidt: 16,653 (16,853 Rifles), 27,541 Prisoners of War
June 27th A near battle between the Deltoran Royal Navy and the Survaek Fleet nearly occurs around Faris in the Inland Sea, but as dusk approached the fleets broke off, fearful of a night time engagement.
June 28th The Southern Army Group of the Xian Clique reaches Flulin of Soroyan Faresia without a shot fired, taking the entire region in a matter of two weeks marching.
June 30th The 1st Western Guard of the Grand Survaek Empire marches west into Murenheidt, though sparsely populated, they begin claiming huge amounts of territory.
The Northern Army Group of the Xian Clique begins a minor offensive against the Kedris region of Soroyan Faresia. The Kedris Campaign starts, with minor probing attacks that run up against well entrenched colonial defenders.
June 1st The Kalpian Republic finishes its theory into Heavy Barrage.
June 2nd The Empire of Sumaya finishes it's Javiya Heavy Artillery guns.
June 3rd 50,000 Professionals join the ranks of the Kingdom of Soroya.
June 4th A Factory completes in Vreson with the Republic of Deltora.
June 5th 30,000 Colonial Conscripts finish their training in the Empire of Anvegad.
June 6th A Factory completes production in the Keyvah region of the Grand Survaek Empire.
June 7th The Xian Clique finishes theoretical work on their trench works and Indirect Artillery. Hours later, the Xian diplomats send an official declaration to "..all acting members of the Sociatatem." The war has come to Faresia.
June 8th The Tarikhate of the Serranthia finishes a production run of 10,000 Ifran 95Rs.
June 9th Orders by the Survaek High Command are again slowed by huge amounts of traffic in the Western Desert Theater, prolonging a clean and efficient offensive. Byrnians, failing to properly communicate to Raethians constitute a large problem, as well as troop movements being slowed by lack of infrastructure.
June 10th Heavy sandstorms batter the Western Desert Theater. The Survaekoms are well prepared, but 1,532 Deltorans are lost in the great, limiting storms, their bodies found hours later only a few hundred feet from the camp.

June 14th The Empire of Anvegad declares war on the Sociatatem.
A great war had begun. A Terrible War. Though only in it's first month, casualties ran rampant. Fighting Sarelia and Serranthia prevailed with only precursory mobilizations of troops on the home front. Varius was a powder keg with a burning fuse. The cool spring that persisted through May faded rapidly, and on June 1st a rampant heat streak caught most of Eastern Varius in it's wake. Men in huddled trenches baked under a callous sun.

WESTERN SERRANTHIAN THEATER
WIKUS On May 19th, the Surv-Akur First Army Group launched a coordinated offensive against the city of Wikus along the northern shores of Eerkhbad river. With 12,000 men of four infantry battalions, they advanced through the city, flanking previously known machine gun emplacements. The Deltorans there, outflanked, outgunned and outnumbered fell back. The city had been captured by dusk of the same day. It would not remain long in the hands of the Survaekom.

On May 23rd the Deltoran III and IV Divisions advanced into Wikus proper. 40,000 strong, they were well fed and well supplied; though lacked fire support in their advance. The Second Battle of Wikus began on May 23rd, with 40,000 Deltorans moving to hold the city against impending Survaekom assaults. The Survaekoms fell back without much fuss. The Deltorans moved their assembled A05 Auguste Field Guns into position to bombard retreating Survaekom positions. A steep counter barrage by the superior Survaek guns silenced the Deltorans as dusk settled over the city.
Over 10,000 men dead on both sides with the borders having ultimately returned to their original positions on the river.
Grand Survaek Empire: 2,853 men (2,853 Rifles, 16 Ishui Model 11 Automatic Rifles, 4 Shayaer 3.3-Inch Light Artillery) Republic of Delltora: 4,163 men (4,674 Vulcaine Mk II Rifles, 51 Madsen Machine Guns, 9 A05 Auguste Fields Guns)
SOUTHERN FRONT While the Surv-Akur Second Army Group untangled itself and get underway, the XII and IV Corps of the Second Deltoran Field Army attempted to foray into the desert. Utilizing maps drawn in the 1890's, the men set out assuming that roads had been built, and wandered aimlessly for three days until one of the commanders realized that no roads had ever been built so far into the Serranthian desert. They immediately entrenched themselves, preparing for the much greater Survaekom force.
Three days later the Surv-Akur Second Army Group arrived, but they were less than half the size initially reported, numbering only 100,000 or so thousand. Skirmishing took place, but trenches were quickly built.
A day later a major assault came, initially attempted as a flanking maneuver along the Eerkhad River, the Deltoran 6th Infantry Division attacked along the banks of the river, attempting a breakthrough to the city of Arkhaer. The Battle of the Eerkhad River was the bloodiest of the entire front, lasting six days.
The division met awkwardly positioned Survaekom machine gunners, and after six days of fighting the Deltoran's forced a breakthrough at the axis of attack. However, without any assistance, the 6th Division was exhausted and vulnerable to counter attack.
Grand Survaek Empire: 9,803 men (9,803 Rifles, 91 Ishui Model 11 Automatic Rifles, 27 Shayaer 3.3-Inch Light Artillery) Republic of Delltora: 15,002 men (15,002 Vulcaine Mk II Rifles, 6 Madsen Machine Guns)
EASTERN FRONT The front, south of Mwikus to the end of the Eerkhad River, was largely uneventful; with large concentrations of Deltoran and Survaekom troops well entrenched with machine guns and field guns supporting them.
INLAND SEA On May 17th, the Surv-Vyaez Expeditionary Force (4 CL's, 8 DD's) blockades the port city of Khad, cutting off incoming supplies from reaching the Deltoran field armies there.
On May 18th the Survaekom destroyer Teiris attacks and sinks the unguarded Deltoran merchantman Kalas. The Kalas was carrying 5,000 supplies to Serranthia. (-5,000 Supplies in Serranthia for Deltora).
SARELIAN THEATER
Sarelian Sea Following the declaration of war, the Empire of Sumaya immediately began combat operations. On May 16th, the Sumayan submarine spotted an inbound Kalpian fleet headed southeast toward Greyhedge. The submarine, RSN Phila attempted an attack at 1524 but it's torpedo missed. Following a three hour pursuit, the Kalpian destroyer Grabo successfully depth charged the submarine before rejoining the convoy to Greyhedge.
Vicarri Sea While fleets of both belligerent nations did cross the Vicarri Sea, no actions took place here during the third week of May.
Sumaya Only hours after midnight on the 17th, the 2nd Sumayan Army under Raja Dhara crossed into Kalpian Sarelia. Their first objective, the small city of Hent was protected by a single Kalpian Division. The Battle of Hent was a fierce affair, as Kalpian soldiers fought on ruggedly; but for their efforts of 10,000 men to defend the city, they had only 180 FT-18 machine guns to defend themselves.
The battle raged on well into the week, and Hent was completely surrounded by the time the Sumayan 1st Army met mobilized Kalpian troops further into the border. The remainder of the 2nd Army pressed west toward Viertas, but was held up by the thick jungle foliage and hastily designed Kalpian trenches. Hent continued on, but it's casualties were already mounting up. General Dhara, hopeful to capture Hent to secure his rear lines, sent three sporadic frontal charges up the hill, but they were repulsed by courageous Kalpian defenses.
Greyhedge The Kalpian island of Greyhedge was a fruitful jumping off point between Kalpia and the Sarelian colonies, and the Kalpian High Command immediately ordered the reinforcement of the small island following the declaration of war. The Kalpian 3rd Army was escorted by the Kalpian Home Fleet and landed without incident.
Soroyan Sarelia The Sumayan 12th Fleet under Admiral Cahya Budan set sail three days after the beginning of the campaign with a half dozen troop barges toward Soroyan Sarelia. Sumayan intelligence had indicated that the Soroyan naval presence there was lackluster at best, but operatives there failed to notice that much of the Soroyan colonial fleet had been out of Fort Celnaer and further up the coast following major storms in the area, and the Soroyans had lodged a rather substantial fleet in the area.
The Sumayan 12th Fleet, comprised of the armored cruiser RSN Anakonda, the light cruisers Fara, Minawa, and Gao and the destroyers Nata, Nuki and Nes set sail from Suma to escort the Sumayan 1st Army to land on the eastern shore of Soroyan Sarelia. On the morning of the 22nd, Soroyan spotters chimed to Fort Celnaer via runner that a fleet was inbound and notified Rear Admiral Hart, who sortied immediately.
The Soroyan Colonial Fleet sailed with it's flagship as the SRF Sikea, a pre-dreadnought over a decade old. The fleet sortied with a second pre-dreadnought, the Reijimink, an armored cruiser, 3 light cruisers and 6 destroyers. The light cruiser Wildenberg's boilers lost pressure, but the guns were manned in case of a pending attack on the harbor.
The Battle of the Tennet Sea began at 1351 when the pre-dreadnought Sikea turned hard to port and loosed a barrage at the lead Sumayan ship. The Sumayan armored cruiser RSN Anakonda returned fire, turning to meet the pre-dreadnoughts guns. At 1406 the pre-dreadnought Reijimink's second volley hit the Nuki and her aft magazines went up, erupting in a fiery explosion. The troop transports turned about, sailing northeast then turning back to the south with destroyers Nes and Nata escorting them.
The RSN Anakonda took two direct hits from the 10-inch guns of the Soroyan pre-dreadnoughts and was forced to retire, while the Sumayan and Soroyan light cruisers parleyed for half an hour, with the SRF Brinks, a new Walle-class destroyer completely a successful torpedo attack that struck the Sumayan light cruiser RSN Fara in less than twelve minutes. Too slow to keep up, the Soroyan pre-dreadnoughts retired after the Sumayans left range, limping back to Suma.
Empire of Sumaya: RSN Anakonda (71% Damaged), RSN Fara (Sunk), RSN Nuki (Sunk) Kingdom of Soroya: SRF Sikea (21% Damaged), SRF Holsink (61% Damaged)
